After Transmigrating into a Book, I Had a Flash Marriage with the Beautiful Crazy Villain - Chapter 47.2
After a brief pause, Qingyi zipped up her bag just as her grandfather approached. Instantly, she resumed her usual composed demeanor.
“Let’s go home,” her grandfather said.
Qingyi climbed down from the bench and walked quietly to his side.
She didn’t mention meeting Xiao Chu Ling to her grandfather. For some reason, she just didn’t want him to know.
It was her first time keeping a secret, and Xiao Qingyi’s heart raced a little.
Her grandfather noticed something was off and frowned slightly. “What’s wrong? Did something happen?”
Xiao Qingyi forced herself to keep her expression steady. “No, it’s just too hot, Grandfather.”
Fortunately, her grandfather didn’t press further and simply nodded. “It’ll be cooler when we get back.”
Xiao Qingyi nodded and said nothing more.
In the days that followed, though she told herself not to hope, deep down, she knew she was waiting for that overly lively little girl to appear again.
But for some reason, the girl didn’t show up for several days in a row.
Even though Qingyi deliberately waited on the same bench.
Her face remained expressionless for days, and though no one could tell what she was feeling, they could sense her mood was off.
Until one day, she saw the little girl again.
The moment the girl spotted her, she ran over from a distance, her expression anxious as she explained,
“I was sick the past couple of days, so I had to go to the hospital. I came to find you as soon as I felt better!”
“Oh, and here’s your handkerchief! I’m sorry, I forgot to return it that day because I ran off in such a hurry. But don’t worry, I washed it properly!”
Xiao Qingyi blinked slowly, and suddenly, her mood lifted.
So she hadn’t wanted to avoid her, she’d just been sick. If that was the case, then Qingyi could forgive her once, as long as she wasn’t lying.
And she still looked so happy to see her. She still liked her.
Thinking this, Qingyi was instantly soothed and couldn’t help but smile faintly.
Xiao Chu Ling froze for a second before suddenly leaning in. “Ah, little sister, you look even prettier when you smile!”
“I’m not your little sister. My name is Song Qingyi.”
“Mm-hmm, got it, Qingyi-meimei.”
Qingyi: “You can just call me by my name.”
“Mm-hmm, I did Qingyi-meimei.”
The non-confrontational Qingyi pressed her lips together and ultimately gave up on correcting her.
Even after all this time, the memory remained vivid when Song Qingyi recalled it.
A faint trace of amusement lingered in her eyes from the recollection, but it faded as she remembered that Chu Ling had completely forgotten.
Her gaze grew calm again.
Only she remembered.
She had promised not to lie to her.
Emotions surged in Qingyi’s eyes, as if she were on the verge of losing control.
Then, the sound of the bathroom door opening made all those feelings recede like a tide. She looked over just as Chu Ling stepped out, drying her hair, and their eyes met.
But before Qingyi could speak, the other girl ended the conversation with a simple “Good night.”
Qingyi’s gaze darkened further.
Avoiding her.
Chu Ling really was avoiding her.
It was too obvious but why?
Qingyi tried to think calmly, but no matter how hard she searched, she couldn’t find any reason for Chu Ling’s behavior.
The emotions she had suppressed came rushing back, and Qingyi felt her rationality teetering on the edge.
She closed her eyes, then after a moment, took out her phone and summoned Ye Zhiyin.
She needed to cool down.
Chu Ling knew nothing of this, but she was indeed avoiding Song Qingyi a little.
It was mostly subconscious, she didn’t even know why.
Maybe she was just afraid of something uncontrollable happening?
It was as if they continued with their previous way of interacting, something uncontrollable would happen.
And also she was still tangled in her thoughts, unsure whether she should ask Song Qingyi or not.
About the contract.
Suddenly remembering this, Chu Ling froze for a moment, then sat up, hurried over, and pulled out the contract.
Taking a deep breath, she finally flipped open the contract she had signed.
However…
The contract was completely normal even favorable to her.
Even though it included clauses about what Song Qingyi needed her to do, anyone who looked at it would say it was the most advantageous for her.
Why would Song Qingyi sign such a contract? Did she not know the terms?
But she managed such a large company, there was no way Song Qingyi would sign without reading the contract.
Yet she had signed it. Why?
Something was on the verge of breaking free, bursting out of its cage.
But Chu Ling didn’t dare let it out.
She took another deep breath, put the contract back, then collapsed onto the bed, staring blankly at the chandelier on the ceiling.
Her mind was a mess, it felt like she had thought about a lot, yet also nothing at all.
In a daze, she eventually fell asleep.
Perhaps because her heart was weighed down with worries, her sleep was restless. At some point, she suddenly woke up.
The lights in the room were still on, glaringly bright. She shielded her eyes from the harsh light, her mind still foggy and unclear.
Was there a sound? What was it?
The noise persisted, relentless, like a call from the underworld. She steadied herself, finally regaining some clarity, only to realize it was her phone ringing.
Unexpectedly, the caller was Ye Zhiyin.
Chu Ling paused for a second before answering.
“Hello? Chu Ling?”
“Yes, it’s me.”
“Ah, hi. It’s Ye Zhiyin. Good thing I saved your number before. Lucky, lucky.”
“Miss Ye? Did something happen?”
Chu Ling tensed up Ye Zhiyin’s tone sounded off.
“I’m really sorry to bother you so late, but Qingyi’s drunk. Can you come down to the parking lot and help me get her upstairs?”
Chu Ling was stunned. “Drunk? How did she get drunk? Are you already downstairs? I’ll come down now.”
Ye Zhiyin mumbled an affirmative.
Chu Ling didn’t have time to think too much. She quickly threw on some clothes and rushed out the door.
The elevator dinged as it reached the parking lot. Chu Ling hurried out and immediately spotted Ye Zhiyin leaning against the car door, looking just as out of it.
“Miss Ye?”
Her brain dulled by alcohol, Ye Zhiyin’s thoughts moved sluggishly. She stared at Chu Ling for a long moment before it clicked. “Ah, Chu Ling! Qingyi’s still in the car.”
Chu Ling didn’t even bother with Ye Zhiyin anymore. She opened the car door and saw Song Qingyi inside, eyes closed, breathing softly, as if asleep.
Chu Ling froze, then sighed. “How much did you two drink?”
Hearing this, Ye Zhiyin started counting on her fingers one, two, three, four, five then started over again. Clearly, she wasn’t sober either.
Chu Ling assessed their condition, her expression growing serious. “You both drank. Then who drove the car?”
Ye Zhiyin blinked, dazed. “Oh, right. Who drove?”
Chu Ling gasped, almost suspecting that the two of them had driven back under the influence of alcohol. Her mind was filled with thoughts of whether she should make them turn themselves in at the police station tomorrow.
Fortunately, a voice soon sounded beside her.
Turning her head, Chu Ling saw Qin Xinhui, who appeared quite sober. “Miss Qin? You’re here too.”
Qin Xinfan gave her a nod. “I was the one driving, don’t worry. No drunk driving here.”
Chu Ling finally let out a sigh of relief.
But then, confusion set in. “How… did they end up drinking like this?”
Qin Xinfan gave her a meaningful look. “Probably because they weren’t in the best mood.”
Chu Ling: “?”
Seriously?
She tried to recall, but she hadn’t noticed anything off about Song Qingyi’s demeanor earlier.
Though still doubtful, Chu Ling didn’t have time to dwell on it. She sighed softly, “Well, whatever the reason, thank you for bringing her back.”
Qin Xinfan nodded without another word.
Chu Ling turned her attention back to Song Qingyi in the car, her face full of concern.
Leaning halfway in, she called out, “Song Qingyi? Song Qingyi, wake up. Let’s go home to sleep, okay?”
The woman’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, and she cracked open a sliver of her eyes, murmuring a single word, “Home?”
Seeing she was still somewhat conscious, Chu Ling felt a surge of relief. “Yes, let’s go home first, okay?”
Song Qingyi opened her eyes fully, staring straight at Chu Ling without saying a word.
Chu Ling couldn’t help but tense up. “Wh-what’s wrong?”
But Song Qingyi slowly lowered her lashes again and nodded. “I want… to go home.”
Chu Ling exhaled in relief and reached out. “Then come on, I’ll help you.”
Song Qingyi extended her hand and gripped Chu Ling’s tightly, her gaze fixed unwaveringly on their joined hands.
Her grip was firm, and a strange feeling flickered through Chu Ling’s heart.
But for now, the priority was getting Song Qingyi inside. “Let’s go. Watch your step.”
Song Qingyi nodded slowly.
Chu Ling turned to Qin Xinfan apologetically. “Miss Qin, thank you for your help today. You can head back now, drive safely.”
Qin Xinfan replied, “No trouble at all. You go ahead.”
Chu Ling nodded and, with great effort, helped Song Qingyi into the elevator.
Fortunately, Song Qingyi still had some semblance of awareness left. Though it was a struggle, Chu Ling managed to get her home without incident.
After stumbling their way into the bedroom and finally settling Song Qingyi down, Chu Ling let out a deep breath.
Looking at the woman sprawled on the bed, Chu Ling tucked her under the covers and was about to leave when,
A rustling sound came from behind her. Before she could turn around.
Everything happened too fast. By the time Chu Ling processed it, she realized,
She seemed to have been wrapped up in the blanket by Song Qingyi.
And when she looked up,
Song Qingyi was hovering above her, staring down with an intense gaze.
Chu Ling’s heart skipped a beat.
