After Transmigrating into a Book, I Had a Flash Marriage with the Beautiful Crazy Villain - Chapter 44.3
Though her mind was a jumble of thoughts, her hands never stopped moving.
Thanks to her experience at the barbershop, Chu Ling completed the task meticulously and carefully.
And her “customer,” Song Qingyi, expressed great satisfaction.
Chu Ling suddenly felt a sense of accomplishment. After wrapping Song Qingyi’s wet hair in a towel, she prepared to leave the bathroom.
As for bathing, that was something Song Qingyi could handle herself. Chu Ling really couldn’t endure a second round of temptation.
Once Song Qingyi finished showering, Chu Ling dutifully picked up the hairdryer and helped her dry her hair.
Her seaweed-like long hair cascaded down her back, restoring Song Qingyi to her usual image.
Chu Ling nodded to herself in satisfaction, then suddenly remembered the video and brought it up to Song Qingyi, asking for her opinion.
“Video?” Song Qingyi looked surprised. “What video? Let me see.”
Chu Ling pulled up the video, carefully observing Song Qingyi’s expression. “I didn’t realize you were in the shot when I filmed it. If it bothers you, I can delete it.”
Song Qingyi’s eyes lingered on the video screen, a fleeting smile crossing her face. “No need. Keep it. I don’t mind.”
Chu Ling wanted to say something, but her mouth opened and closed without words.
She had originally thought that since Song Qingyi had her own account, she might not want to be in the video. If it were ever exposed, it might cause trouble but she said she didn’t mind.
Chu Ling still felt uneasy about it, but since Song Qingyi had no objections, she would ultimately benefit if the video were discovered.
So she swallowed her words. “Alright, but if you ever feel it’s affecting you, just let me know.”
Song Qingyi merely hummed in response, showing no intention of changing her mind, she seemed completely indifferent.
Chu Ling didn’t press further.
Fortunately, the video’s likes plateaued at around 50,000, and no one in the comments mentioned Song Qingyi. Only then did Chu Ling relax.
She spent the next two days editing the vlog she wanted to make. Though she wasn’t entirely satisfied, seeing the finished product for the first time still made her happy.
After uploading the video, Chu Ling turned her attention back to her work. She still had two pending orders and decided to finish them all at once.
Because the finalist list for the Little Notes Photography Contest had been announced and to her surprise, Chu Ling found her own work among them.
She had made it to the finals.
Never in her wildest dreams did she think an amateur like her could reach the finals. Pretending she wasn’t thrilled would be a lie.
But one thing troubled her: the finals required submitting two types of photos, one of objects and one of people.
When it comes to objects mountains, rivers, plants, animals, all could serve as subjects. Scenic photos? She had plenty of those, and she also had suitable pictures ready to upload.
But when it came to people, she had no clear ideas.
Truth be told, among those photos, she had taken quite a few portraits, but none of them felt quite right for the theme, nor did they carry any particular artistic atmosphere.
To capture a satisfying photo, the subject had to be carefully chosen.
But who should she pick?
For now, she ruled out Song Qingyi first. Though in her heart, Song Qingyi was the most fitting choice she had discovered that when photographing her, inspiration seemed endless.
It was just a shame she couldn’t upload any photos of her. If she did, there was a high chance they’d be traced back.
But aside from Song Qingyi, everyone else seemed about the same. Maybe she should ask them one by one?
Chu Ling’s first thought was Qiu Shuang, but surprisingly, she refused, saying she was busy with something.
After running through a mental list, Chu Ling had a sudden idea and decided to ask Ning Hongmian.
When it came to camera presence, Ning Hongmian was also quite good.
Come to think of it, hadn’t the girl mentioned last time that she’d share some gossip with her after they got back? Why had there been no word from her since?
Only now did Chu Ling remember this detail, and curiosity prompted her to send Ning Hongmian a message.
And then…
She received a reply at noon on Saturday.
[Ning Hongmian: [Crying][Crying] AHHHHHHH I’m so sorry, Chu Ling-jie! My mom confiscated my phone as soon as I got back, and then I was stuck studying until today when I finally got it back wuwuwuwu.]
[Ning Hongmian: You’re looking for a model?! Me, me, me! I’ll do it for free!]
[Ning Hongmian: Jie, you’re in a competition? Where is it? I’ll go check it out, do you need votes? I’ll get people to vote for you! Leave it to me, don’t worry!]
Whoosh, whoosh, Chu Ling was instantly bombarded with a flurry of messages.
She took a moment to collect herself, then scrolled back to the first one to reply, explaining the situation. In return, she received an excited string of “AHHHHHs” from Ning Hongmian, followed by an eager agreement.
Chu Ling smiled, genuinely grateful for her willingness.
[Ling Ling Qi: Then let’s pick a time when you’re free. The submission deadline is still a ways off, no rush.]
[Ning Hongmian: Okay, okay! The National Day holiday starts in two days, I’ll be free then! Let’s do it during the break!]
[Ling Ling Qi: Sounds good, but I have something on the first day. Any other time works.]
[Ning Hongmian: Got it, got it! I’m free anytime!]
With the model settled, Chu Ling let out a sigh of relief.
Now, all that was left was to finish the orders she had on hand.
Time flew when she was busy, and in the blink of an eye, National Day arrived.
Ever since the last rain, the weather had turned chilly, the temperature dropping sharply as autumn set in.
Now, going out required at least two layers.
Staring at her wardrobe for a long moment, Chu Ling finally picked out her outfit.
The weather lately was ridiculous people wore everything under the sun. It felt cold, but not unbearably so.
In the past, she might have still been wearing off-shoulder tops or short skirts.
But now, perhaps due to her mental age catching up, Chu Ling couldn’t shake the feeling that bare shoulders and short skirts left her freezing, as if she weren’t wearing anything at all.
So, today’s outfit was dark wide-leg jeans paired with a fitted knit long-sleeve, her long hair braided into a single plait draped over one shoulder.
After all, she was going to meet so many people, so Chu Ling made a token effort by applying light makeup, instantly transforming her style into a pure and innocent look.
Glancing at her reflection in the mirror, Chu Ling nodded in satisfaction, this would do!
When she stepped outside, the sky was gloomy and windy, looking rather ominous, as if rain was on the way.
Chu Ling hesitated for a second but ultimately decided against going back to grab an umbrella. She was betting on no rain today!
As she stepped out the door, she spotted Qiu Shuang from a distance, leaning out of her car window and looking around.
“Hey, hey, hey! Beautiful over there, wanna go for a ride with your big sis?” Qiu Shuang flashed a smirk.
Chu Ling paused mid-step, then dashed over at top speed, yanked the car door open, and hopped in.
One more second of hesitation and she’d have become a spectacle for passersby.
Qiu Shuang let out a couple of hearty laughs, then gave her a once-over before teasing, “Finally decided to doll yourself up today, huh? I always said our Lingling’s a natural stunner, just a little touch-up and you’re drop-dead gorgeous. C’mere, let sis plant one on you.”
Chu Ling shuddered, practically shedding goosebumps all over the car, and quickly waved her off. “Stop, stop, stop! Act normal!”
Qiu Shuang chuckled a few more times before finally starting the car.
The long-dormant class group chat had suddenly sprung back to life, messages flooding in nonstop.
Everyone seemed hyped, racking up hundreds of texts in mere seconds.
“They really can talk,” Chu Ling mused.
Qiu Shuang snorted in agreement. “No kidding. Let them chat away, I’ve got no interest in chiming in.”
Chu Ling glanced at her, sensing some tension between Qiu Shuang and their classmates.
But then she remembered how clueless she herself was, and her anxiety about what lay ahead only deepened.
Soon enough, they arrived at the meetup spot, a restaurant near their teacher’s place.
With so many people, squeezing into the teacher’s home was out of the question, so the class president had taken charge and booked the restaurant for everyone to gather first.
After parking, they walked in to find a sizable crowd already inside.
The chatter died down as heads turned curiously toward the newcomers.
“Well, well! Look who it is! Where’d these two beauties come from?”
A voice, neutral in tone, rang out. Chu Ling followed it to a sharply dressed girl.
She glanced at Qiu Shuang, who whispered, “That’s our class president, Xia Muqi.”
Chu Ling gave a slight nod and smiled. “Long time no see, President.”
Xia Muqi blinked, her expression turning odd.
Confused, Chu Ling felt Qiu Shuang tug at her sleeve, barely suppressing a laugh as she muttered, “You two had a falling-out. Never made up.”
Chu Ling: “…”
You couldn’t have mentioned that sooner?!
