After Transmigrating into a Book, I Had a Flash Marriage with the Beautiful Crazy Villain - Chapter 37.1
Ning Hongmian ultimately couldn’t stay in Chu Ling’s embrace for long, if she lingered any further, she suspected her aunt would bundle her up and send her straight home.
This rare opportunity to spend time together wasn’t something she could afford to waste!
So, after nuzzling Chu Ling fiercely, Ning Hongmian reluctantly pulled herself away.
Chu Ling didn’t notice the silent exchange between the two, only thinking that the child was quite energetic, she had nearly knocked her over.
Fortunately, Song Qingyi steadied her in time, or else she would have been thoroughly embarrassed.
Ning Hongmian, who had already been on the receiving end of Song Qingyi’s threatening glare earlier, now suffered another sharp look and finally settled down.
Seeing her apologize, Chu Ling waved it off. “It’s fine, I just lost my balance.”
Ning Hongmian’s heart melted instantly at her words.
If only she were older, she’d definitely fight for her!
She grumbled inwardly, only to look up and meet the weighty affection or rather, the terrifying warning in her aunt’s eyes.
Ning Hongmian averted her gaze and obediently quieted down again.
Unaware of their silent battle, Chu Ling was lost in anticipation for the trip.
Come to think of it, National Day would follow shortly after the Mid-Autumn Festival. How wonderful, another holiday was coming up.
Back then, holidays had always been what she looked forward to most, whether during her student days or while working. Surely, no one disliked time off.
Studying exhausted the mind, and working drained the spirit.
Now, the mere thought that she no longer had to endure the grind of a nine-to-five job made Chu Ling want to laugh. Though she still had work to do, her time was entirely her own to manage.
She didn’t have any grand ambitions just living well was enough.
As long as her material conditions were decent, not too destitute, she could manage just fine.
Besides, she could even save money now, a far cry from her previous job.
She didn’t know why, but the longer she worked, the more hopeless it all felt.
The income was stable, the overtime endless, the money never enough, the spirit perpetually on the verge of collapse, and the body riddled with aches and pains.
In summary: nothing went right.
Chu Ling’s gaze turned distant as she wondered if her transmigration into this novel was due to overwork-induced sudden death.
Watching the sky gradually darken, she sighed.
At least things were better now.
This time, they were traveling by plane. The destination was too far even taking turns driving would be exhausting, so flying was the better option. It would only take two hours.
After checking in, they didn’t have to wait long before the boarding announcement sounded.
With Qiu Shuang and Ning Hongmian chattering away beside her, the excitement of the trip grew even stronger.
For some reason, despite the age gap between the two, they got along surprisingly well. They had been the most talkative throughout the journey, followed closely by Ye Zhiyin, who could strike up a conversation with anyone.
Chu Ling hardly participated in the chatter, simply listening quietly until the plane prepared for takeoff, and the group gradually fell silent.
Soon after, the flight stabilized, and they soared above the clouds.
Chu Ling’s seat happened to be by the window, and when she turned her head, she was greeted by a blazing red sunset, half above the clouds, half below, painting the entire sky crimson.
“So beautiful.”
Her eyes filled with awe before she suddenly remembered something. Quickly, she pulled out her camera and captured the clouds and sunset together.
Song Qingyi heard her murmur and turned to look as well but her gaze wasn’t on the sunset.
It was on Chu Ling’s profile.
After taking the photo, Chu Ling suddenly turned around and found herself locking eyes with Song Qingyi. She froze for a moment before quickly recovering. “Do you want to see the sunset too? It’s really beautiful, isn’t it?”
Thinking Song Qingyi had been admiring the sunset, she couldn’t help but seek agreement.
Song Qingyi nodded slowly. “Yes, it is beautiful.”
Chu Ling’s eyes curved into crescents. “I wish we could watch it a little longer, but…”
The plane soon passed through the clouds, leaving the sunset-dyed sky behind.
Song Qingyi gazed at her, lost in thought, until Chu Ling’s eyes met hers again, prompting her to look away.
“But there are even more beautiful sights ahead, so no need for regrets.”
It was rare for Song Qingyi to speak without sarcasm her tone was normal, almost as if she were offering comfort?
Chu Ling was startled and glanced at her in surprise.
After a moment’s thought, she nodded in agreement. “You’re right! Even if it’s just for a short while, seeing something this beautiful is already wonderful. And there’s so much more waiting for me!”
Her eyes sparkled at the thought of capturing more breathtaking scenery.
This felt a lot like the freedom she had longed for. If she could have this kind of freedom, maybe transmigrating into a book wasn’t such a bad thing after all.
The weight in her heart lightened slightly, and she sighed softly.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t much entertainment on the plane, and Chu Ling soon grew bored.
“Get some sleep. We still have a while before we arrive.”
Chu Ling considered it but decided against it. “If I sleep now, I won’t be able to later. Better not, I should rest early tonight so I’m refreshed for tomorrow’s adventures!”
Song Qingyi didn’t press further.
Not long after the smooth flight, Ye Zhiyin came over, likely also feeling restless. She waved a deck of cards in her hand. “Want to play a little game?”
Chu Ling peeked over. “What kind of game?”
It wasn’t that she particularly wanted to play, but she was genuinely bored, sleep was out of the question, the internet was spotty, and she needed something to do.
Luckily, none of them were short on money, having booked out the entire first-class cabin. Even if they made noise while passing the time, they wouldn’t disturb anyone.
Chu Ling had previously wondered if, given the setting, they would always travel by private jet.
But no, though they had still outrageously reserved the entire first-class section.
“Private jets require flight applications. They’re usually not used unless it’s urgent, and they’re smaller planes less comfortable when there are more passengers.”
Only when Song Qingyi spoke did Chu Ling realize she had voiced her thoughts aloud!
She cringed in embarrassment.
Song Qingyi studied her expression thoughtfully. “If you want to try it, I can take you next time.”
Chu Ling hastily shook her head. “No need! Don’t waste resources. I’m not interested just curious.”
Had she been influenced by novels and TV dramas? After all, those stories often featured private jets taking off without a second thought.
It was beyond her usual understanding.
Song Qingyi didn’t respond, leaving it unclear whether she had dropped the idea.
Returning to the present, Chu Ling felt a flicker of interest when Ye Zhiyin suggested playing a game. With only the few of them here, there was no worry about disturbing others.
Seeing everyone’s enthusiastic response, Ye Zhiyin smiled and said, “Alright then, let’s keep it simple. The loser gets a paper strip stuck on their face just something to pass the time.”
That sounded good just paper strips, after all.
But there were quite a few of them.
Ye Zhiyin immediately added, “Hongmian, go play by yourself. Kids shouldn’t gamble. Now, there are six of us left three will play, and one person can assist. How’s that?”
Ning Hongmian, indignant, was the first to protest. “Why am I still a kid?! I want to play too!!”
Ye Zhiyin wagged her finger with a smile. “Protest denied~”
Chu Ling chuckled, thinking this wasn’t a bad idea, and glanced at Song Qingyi. “Do you want to play, or should I?”
Song Qingyi replied, “You go ahead.”
Chu Ling nodded. “Then count me in.”
Qiu Shuang had been eager since Ye Zhiyin first suggested the game and naturally wanted to join. “Me, me, me! I’ll play! Fang Manwen, you sit this one out.”
Fang Manwen replied lazily, “Fine, you go ahead.”
Ye Zhiyin also smiled. “Then I’ll start. President Qin, you’ll have to help me.”
Qin Xinfang’s lips twitched, looking somewhat reluctant, but she agreed nonetheless.
And so, the game began, and the atmosphere instantly grew tense.
Ning Hongmian, unable to play, could only watch longingly, occasionally scolded by the adults for peeking. Finally, she turned away with a pout that could hang a kettle and huffed.
Headphones on, heart sealed shut.
The others ignored the sulking kid and dove into the game.
Rarely participating in such activities, Chu Ling was initially reserved, still in disbelief that she was playing games with the female leads.
But then her competitive spirit kicked in, and she threw all caution to the wind, her mind wholly fixated on winning.
Her focus was sharper than ever, and after two rounds, both Ye Zhiyin and Qiu Shuang had paper strips stuck to their faces only her team remained untouched.
Qiu Shuang, unwilling to accept defeat, cried out, “Ahhh! When did you get so good, you little brat? No way! We agreed to stick together as sisters, whoever gets smart first is a dog!”
Chu Ling giggled, her eyes crinkling with amusement.
Qiu Shuang only grew more agitated. After a brief outburst of helpless frustration, she shuffled the cards furiously and declared, “Again, again! I refuse to believe you’ll keep winning. Just you wait!”
Having won two rounds in a row, Chu Ling was feeling a bit smug. She grinned, no longer holding back. “Bring it on.”
Then came the reckoning this time, she lost and had to stick two paper strips on her face.
Chu Ling’s expression turned serious as she glared accusingly at Qiu Shuang and Ye Zhiyin. “This isn’t fair! You two teamed up against me!”
Qiu Shuang smirked. “What’s unfair about it? It’s called strategy. Now we all have something on our faces, perfectly fair.”
Ye Zhiyin also smiled, though her grin was decidedly mischievous. “Oh, your face was just too clean, it bothered me. Now that you’ve joined us, it looks much better.”
Ganged up on by both of them, Chu Ling fumed. “How could you?! You’re just sore losers!”
Ignoring her futile outrage, Ye Zhiyin and Qiu Shuang urged her to hurry up and shuffle the cards.
Their rule was that the loser had to shuffle. Though Chu Ling grumbled, she deftly reshuffled the deck.
“This round, I won’t go easy on you!”
Her expression solemn, Chu Ling carefully considered each move before playing her cards.
As the game progressed, the expressions of the participants grew increasingly solemn, as if they weren’t just playing a game but making some critical decisions.
Chu Ling kept a close eye on the two women, fully focused on the match, and finally managed to win this round.
This time, the loser was Ye Zhiyin, who didn’t seem the least bit upset. Instead, she turned to Qin Xinfan.
“President Qin, this was your strategic blunder, so the note…”
Qin Xinfan seemed to hesitate for a moment before nodding helplessly and leaning slightly toward Ye Zhiyin. “Go ahead and stick it on.”
Her voice was as cool as ever, but Chu Ling still detected a subtle hint of indulgence.
Ah, the perks of being the female lead…
Wait, what?
Is this how you play?
What was supposed to be a simple sticky note turned into a moment dripping with pink, fluffy vibes under Ye Zhiyin’s influence. The way the two locked eyes, it was as if a sweet love song was playing in the background.
Suddenly, the atmosphere had shifted straight into romance mode.
Chu Ling watched in awe, then glanced at Qiu Shuang out of the corner of her eye. The woman’s eyes sparkled mischievously, and it was clear she was already plotting something devious.
Sure enough, in the following rounds, Qiu Shuang seized every opportunity to make Fang Manwen play her cards. Whenever they lost, she’d pin the blame on Fang, and after a few rounds, Fang’s face was also adorned with several sticky notes.
Couples really are disgustingly sweet!
Just as Chu Ling was sighing over this realization, she suddenly noticed everyone’s eyes were now fixed on her. She blinked. “What’s wrong?”
Utterly confused, she turned to Qiu Shuang, only to find the woman grinning like a troublemaker.
At the same time, Ye Zhiyin remarked meaningfully, “Oh, how enviable, Qingyi. It seems Miss Chu Ling is quite protective of you, you’re the only one here with a clean face.”
Chu Ling froze, then instinctively looked at Song Qingyi.
Since she had been the one to suggest the game, she naturally accepted the consequences of losing. It hadn’t even crossed her mind to stick a note on Song Qingyi’s face. But now that Ye Zhiyin had pointed it out, Chu Ling immediately snapped out of the game’s atmosphere, her mind racing to decipher if there was some hidden meaning behind those words.
Before she could dwell on it, Song Qingyi spoke up in her usual calm tone. “Next round, if Chu Ling loses, she’ll stick it on me.”
Ye Zhiyin smirked slyly. “you said it yourself, how fair! Quick, quick, let’s start over!”
