After Transmigrating as a Wealthy Woman: Don’t You Dare Touch My Baby! [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 7
The two women found another restaurant and sat down once more. Though the setting was familiar, their states of mind had shifted entirely.
Zhu Xingtong buried her head in her food, eating voraciously; she was absolutely famished. She had been worrying for days leading up to this encounter, and now that the tension had finally bled away, only one phrase could describe her mood: pure bliss! With her spirits lifted, her appetite followed suit.
Watching Zhu Xingtong eat with such gusto, Zhong Ying found her own appetite opening up as well. One had completely abandoned her “idol baggage,” while the other had forgotten her “overbearing CEO” persona. They would stop occasionally, look up at one another, and break into spontaneous, shared smiles.
“That is… the most I’ve ever eaten in one sitting,” Zhong Ying said, patting her stomach with a sigh. “I’ll have to put in extra hours at the gym for the rest of the week.”
Zhu Xingtong wiped her mouth. “Oh, don’t be so dramatic. Look at me—I don’t work out, and I still…” Her voice trailed off as her gaze landed on Zhong Ying’s slender, willow-like waist and the soft, ample curves of her chest. She suddenly found herself at a loss for words.
It’s different! It’s totally different! Was this really the gap between working out and not? No! This was clearly the heavens being biased; Mother Nuwa must have had a steady hand when crafting her, and a shaky one for everyone else!
“Your eyes are glazing over. You look like a lecher,” Zhong Ying reminded her playfully.
Zhu Xingtong’s face flushed crimson as she buried her head. “I—I’m sorry.”
“I didn’t say I was blaming you.”
“Mhm.”
“Your phone is ringing,” Zhong Ying noted, pointing to the device vibrating on the table.
Zhu Xingtong picked it up and saw the caller ID: Long Ze. She cleared her throat and composed her voice before answering. “Hello?”
“Sister, why the sudden generosity?” Long Ze’s voice came through. “Secretary Yang said you bought dinner for everyone in the company—and from a five-star restaurant, no less.”
Zhu Xingtong’s heart skipped a beat. She cast a cautious glance at the smiling Zhong Ying across from her, unsure if she had overheard. She maintained a stern tone as she replied to Long Ze, “The employees work hard; what’s wrong with me treating them to a meal?”
“Nothing… I just thought it was strange, so I called to check in. You’re making me a little nervous, Sis.” Long Ze sounded nothing like the dignified CEO he was at the office. He chuckled and added, “I thought you were using this as a roundabout way to remind me to sign Zhong Ying and that it’s time to acquire Qiming Entertainment.”
Zhu Xingtong turned serious. “Speaking of which, your efficiency has truly disappointed me. How long has it been since I brought this up? Why hasn’t there been any progress?”
Long Ze was baffled. “Progress? Didn’t you just mention this to me last night?”
“Five days. Within five days, I want to see results. If you can’t even handle a small matter like this, you can move back home and work for the family next year!”
“…Understood.”
“Good. Hanging up now.” Zhu Xingtong clicked off the phone. Under Zhong Ying’s watchful gaze, she sat up straight and stiff, looking exactly like an elementary student terrified of being caught misbehaving.
“So, this is how you act in front of others,” Zhong Ying said with a laugh. “You finally seem a bit like a wealthy heiress.”
I’m clearly an overbearing CEO! Zhu Xingtong grumbled indignantly, “See? Isn’t my acting great? I could easily win Best Supporting Actress, right?”
“Why Best Supporting Actress?”
Zhu Xingtong answered as if it were the most obvious thing in the world: “Because the Best Leading Actress has to be you!”
Zhong Ying looked at her deeply but said nothing.
A powerful background, a massive fortune, a personality that oscillated between dead-serious and clumsy, and an attitude toward her that was… truly, incredibly cute!
Zhong Ying took a sip of her tea. This woman had certainly succeeded in catching her attention.
“We’ve met twice now, and I still don’t know your name.”
Zhu Xingtong tilted her head and beamed. Her “cub” was asking for her name!
“Zhu Xingtong! My name is Zhu Xingtong! ‘Zhu’ as in ‘congratulations,’ ‘Xing’ as in ‘stars,’ and ‘Tong’ as in ‘bright red’!” Her eyes seemed to hold a vast galaxy within them, and she made no effort to hide her joy.
In that joy, Zhong Ying saw clearly that the only thing reflected in those eyes was herself.
Zhong Ying pressed a hand to her forehead. She felt as though she was being flirted with—by a girl.
“…Stop staring at me. Eat your food.”
“Okay!”
