After Transmigrating as a Wealthy Woman: Don’t You Dare Touch My Baby! [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 3
On the other end of the phone, Zhong Ying pressed the stop button on the treadmill and wiped the sweat from her forehead.
“Xiaoying, I told you to go home and think things through yesterday. Have you figured it out?”
“Sister Qi, you’ve been my manager for five years. Don’t you know me by now?” She brushed back her damp hair and smiled. “If I could accept that kind of filth, I would have become famous long ago. Yesterday I was truly angry, which is why I lost my temper and walked out. Did you get scolded at the office today?”
Tang Qi felt depressed hearing this. “So you knew I’d get scolded today.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Actually, I should be the one saying sorry. I knew you couldn’t stand that kind of thing, yet I took you there without warning you. That’s on me.” Tang Qi sighed over the phone. “But I’ve never seen an artist like you! Everyone else is fighting tooth and nail to climb the ladder, but you… you don’t participate in any activities except acting. Managing an artist like you, I don’t know whether to be relieved or frustrated by your lack of ambition!”
Zhong Ying tilted her head, cradling the phone as she laughed. “Then I guess you’re just unlucky.”
Tang Qi snapped back, “You’re still laughing!”
“By the way, Sister Qi, I want to ask you something.” Her voice suddenly turned serious.
“Hmm?”
“How much do you know about Zhongxing Entertainment?”
Tang Qi paused, sensing the implication behind the question. Zhong Ying really didn’t want to stay at Qiming anymore. She sighed inwardly but told the truth: “Zhongxing Entertainment is a relatively new company and isn’t very famous in the industry yet. However, I’ve heard their boss is very wealthy and has a powerful background. From what I know, the commission rates for artists at Zhongxing are quite high. Do you… want to go to Zhongxing?”
“Someone recommended it to me.” Zhong Ying thought of a certain reckless fan and gave a soft smile.
“I see. It’s good that you have a plan. Qiming… isn’t a good employer in the end. I can’t attend your dinner with President Zhang today; he won’t let me come along. Tonight… be careful. At these kinds of dinners, the food and drink aren’t as ‘clean’ as at home. Eat less.”
Zhong Ying was stunned for a moment, then agreed: “Okay, I understand.”
Tang Qi seemed to remember something and laughed/scolded: “My phone will be on all night. Call me if anything happens.”
“Don’t worry.”
Zhong Ying gripped the phone, her fingertips turning slightly white. Qiming Entertainment… they really weren’t planning on letting her go.
In the evening, Zhong Ying picked out an unexpectedly sexy dress for herself.
It was a wine-red, off-the-shoulder bodycon dress that ended mid-thigh. Her jade-white shoulders and slender arms were exposed to the air, adding a touch of sexiness. The form-fitting dress perfectly outlined an “S” curve, putting Zhong Ying’s proud figure on full display.
Wine red is a mature color. Few could escape such a temptation.
Zhong Ying brushed her long hair back, looked at the stunning beauty in the mirror, and gave a satisfied press of her red lips.
When President Zhang arrived to meet her, he was stunned for a moment.
In his impression, Zhong Ying liked to wear black and white—either mysterious or elegant. No one knew that a color like wine red would suit her so exceptionally well.
“Zhong Ying, you look very beautiful today.” President Zhang instinctively licked his dry lips, his eyes unmoving from Zhong Ying’s chest. “Sit down.”
He thought to himself that President Chen was going to be very lucky tonight.
“Thank you, President Zhang.” Zhong Ying put down her bag and sat opposite him with composure.
“I’m really sorry. I originally booked a private room, but it turns out this restaurant just ran out of space. Even though we didn’t get a room, the food here is quite good.” After saying this, a look of embarrassment crossed Zhang’s face.
After all, he was a CEO; it was embarrassing to invite a company artist to dinner and not even be able to afford a private room.
He had actually booked a high-end private room, but around seven o’clock, the restaurant owner personally called to apologize, saying all private rooms were fully booked. Out of options, it had to be like this. Fortunately, the privacy service at this restaurant was very well-handled.
“The window seat is actually quite nice.” Zhong Ying looked out and could see the night view.
“Then I’ll have the server bring the food. We can talk while we eat.”
“Okay.”
The server arrived quickly, but before President Zhang could speak, she spoke first: “I’m sorry, Mr. Zhang, but the dishes you ordered probably can’t be served.”
President Zhang: “What happened? I requested that you prepare the food in advance, and your boss told me it was no problem.” He glanced at Zhong Ying. “Now that my guest is here, you’re telling me my food can’t be served?”
The server gave a dry laugh and looked apologetic: “It’s our restaurant’s mistake. We are very sorry. As compensation, this meal will be on the house.”
“You’re trying to brush me off with a free meal?!” President Zhang was in disbelief. “Do I look like someone who lacks the money for a meal?” His voice grew louder. “Regardless, call your manager. I want to ask exactly what is going on!”
The server maintained a forced smile: “Sir, our manager is not in right now.”
Zhang was flabbergasted. “So?”
“If you don’t accept the free meal, we can book a table for you at another restaurant and compensate you for your mental distress. We hope you have a pleasant dining experience.”
“President Zhang, it’s already seven o’clock. Booking another restaurant would be a hassle. We’re here to talk business; what we eat isn’t important,” Zhong Ying spoke up.
President Zhang’s expression softened slightly. “You’re right.” He rubbed his brow. “Sorry, I didn’t think booking a restaurant would cause so much trouble.”
The server quickly bowed: “I am truly very sorry.”
“Forget it. Bring the menu; let’s order again.”
“Certainly.” The server deftly handed over the menu.
After ordering, Zhang couldn’t wait to stand up. “Zhong Ying, I’m going to the restroom.”
“Okay.” Zhong Ying followed along easily, smiling slightly.
He said he was going to the restroom, but as soon as he left the table, he pulled out his phone. Watching President Zhang’s exasperated back, Zhong Ying smiled at the empty table in front of her.
It seemed tonight was indeed a “Hongmen Banquet”—a trap. However, it seemed some temporary issues had cropped up.
As Zhong Ying was thinking, a server suddenly walked over. “Pardon the interruption. Since the heating above this table is being repaired, you might feel a bit cold. If you need, you can use this to cover your shoulders. Please rest assured, this shawl is brand new.”
The restaurant provides this kind of service?
Zhong Ying was visibly stunned, then waved her hand. “Thank you, but I don’t need it.”
The waitress looked a bit troubled, then lowered her head and whispered: “You should wear it. The person you’re eating with keeps staring at your chest.”
Zhong Ying: “…”
“Thank you.” Zhong Ying took the shawl.
Just as the server said, it was brand new. Not only was it new, it was pure black—perfectly matching her red dress.
“The shawl provided for guests is a custom piece from Mingshang?” Zhong Ying saw the small brand embroidery on the edge and couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise. As far as she knew, Mingshang was one of the top domestic luxury brands; a shawl like this would cost at least a few tens of thousands.
Are restaurants nowadays this extravagant?
No matter how she thought about it, Zhong Ying felt this didn’t add up. She stood up and looked around, her gaze unexpectedly meeting a pair of lively eyes at the table behind her.
The woman she caught immediately lowered her head, burying her face in the menu. As if by doing that, she would become invisible.
Zhong Ying laughed, and stepping in her high heels, she walked toward her.
