- After Three Lifetimes of Tragedy, I Finally Got a Happy Ending with His Majesty
- Chapter 10 - Linxu Realm · Emperor Beiyue
“Xuan Zhao.”
At this moment, a cold, clear voice drifted over. Yuan Ruoshen and Xuan Zhao both turned toward the source of the sound simultaneously.
A green-robed figure appeared before everyone’s eyes like a deity descending upon the world, his sleeves fluttering softly in the wind.
The newcomer was none other than Yan Qinyu. A gentle smile remained on his face as he walked closer in an unhurried manner.
Yuan Ruoshen was taken aback. “Why are you here?!”
Although Xuan Zhao was also somewhat surprised in his heart, his expression appeared extraordinarily calm on the surface.
Xuan Zhao took a step forward without haste, then bowed slightly, performing a standard etiquette that was neither humble nor arrogant.
“Greetings, Emperor Beiyue.”
Yuan Ruoshen was left completely bewildered.
What? Emperor Beiyue? He was actually the Emperor Beiyue who had flattened the Xuyun Valley with a single strike of his sword and forced back tens of thousands of ferocious beasts!
To think he was one of Feng Yuan’s people!
Yuan Ruoshen’s expression turned complex, shifting rapidly like a changing color palette within a split second.
Yan Qinyu’s gaze swept over Yuan Ruoshen and paused for a moment, acting as if he did not exist at all, before turning his gaze toward Xuan Zhao. He said slowly, “Xuan Zhao, you may leave.”
His voice was calm and detached, without the slightest ripple of emotion, as if he were merely stating a completely ordinary matter.
However, the contents of these words caused Xuan Zhao’s mood to turn sour.
Xuan Zhao frowned. “Emperor, what is the meaning of this?”
Yan Qinyu let out a deep sigh, his heart filled with endless worry and helplessness.
His gaze fixed onto the distance as he said slowly, “The Linxu Realm has finally stabilized now. The living beings of every realm have suffered unspeakably during the war. Do not provoke further conflict.”
Xuan Zhao’s face darkened. “Emperor, please do not make things difficult for this minor deity. His Majesty ordered me to bring the Eastern Emperor back. If the Emperor acts like this, how am I supposed to account for this to His Majesty?”
“Feng Yuan has already made more than enough mistakes. Go back and tell him that I am the one taking Yuan Ruoshen away.”
Upon hearing this, Xuan Zhao stared coldly at Yan Qinyu. “Does the Emperor intend to betray the Divine Court?”
“Betray?” Yan Qinyu repeated the word, suddenly finding it somewhat laughable. “I withdrew from the Divine Court long ago, so where does this talk of betrayal come from?”
“Divine Lord Xuan Zhao, this accusation you are pinning on me is a bit too much.”
“Since that is the case, and you are no longer a person of the Divine Court, then do not meddle in the affairs of our Divine Court!” Seeing this, Xuan Zhao chose not to be polite either.
Yan Qinyu felt helpless. “I originally wanted to reason with you.”
“In that case, pardon my offense.”
Seeing that he could not get through to Xuan Zhao with words, Yan Qinyu tore open a spatial rift with a backhand movement, and with a wave of his sleeve, he blew Xuan Zhao backward and into it.
Xuan Zhao was merely a deity who had recently entered the mid-stage of the Quasi-Emperor realm. How could he possibly compare to Yan Qinyu, an established deity at the peak of the Quasi-Emperor realm? He failed to react in time and was directly blown away.
Seeing this scene, the other members of the Divine Court wisely chose to run away.
“Since the Emperor is here, we shall take our leave!”
In an instant, only Yan Qinyu and Yuan Ruoshen were left at the scene.
Yuan Ruoshen looked at Yan Qinyu with a complicated gaze, speaking meaningfully, “To think you are actually Emperor Beiyue.”
Yan Qinyu smiled and shook his head. “I am no longer some Emperor Beiyue.”
Yuan Ruoshen paused upon hearing this, letting the topic slide. “Why did you save me?”
Yan Qinyu hesitated slightly. “A rescue is just a rescue, there do not need to be so many reasons. Besides, I do not wish for them to use you as a pretext to start a war.”
If Yuan Ruoshen were truly captured by the Divine Court to be used as a bargaining chip for war against the Demon and Devil Realm, the balance between both sides would inevitably be shattered, leading to an endless fight to the death.
Yuan Ruochen had already lost his wife and child. If he lost his younger brother as well, it was highly possible for a maddened expert at the peak of the Quasi-Emperor realm to do anything.
When that time came, it would truly be too late to stop it.
In the past, there had been an instance where an expert of the Emperor Realm was pushed into a desperate corner and shattered the space directly, nearly causing the Linxu Realm to collapse entirely.
Although a Quasi-Emperor was not equal to a true Emperor Realm expert, the destructive power they could cause was still something that could not be underestimated.
“Feng Yuan disregards the common people completely, he only cares for his own ambition.”
“The other living beings are completely innocent, yet they must bear the price for Feng Yuan’s ambition.”
“Once a war breaks out, it will bring devastation to the people once more.”
A single phrase or a single decision from those in power would be paid for with the lives of those beneath them.
Yan Qinyu looked at Yuan Ruoshen and said, “In your current state, it is impossible for you to return to the Demon and Devil Realm on your own. Forget it, I will play the good Samaritan to the very end and send you back myself.”
He opened a spatial channel connecting to the Demon Domain and gestured for Yuan Ruoshen to leave.
Yuan Ruoshen’s eyes flickered as he took a deep look at Yan Qinyu, suddenly breaking into a wide smile. “Then… thank you very much.”
Watching Yuan Ruoshen leave once again, Yan Qinyu remained expressionless, his heart heavy.
Feng Yuan… do you still want to start another war? Even though you know it is impossible to unify the Six Realms, you still indulge in daydreaming, forcing countless people to sacrifice their lives for your ambition.
I really misjudged you back then, believing you would make a good leader.
Yan Qinyu’s gaze grew deep and profound. He thought to himself that it was time for him to pay a visit back to the Divine Court.
Feng Yuan himself possessed a cultivation at the peak of the Quasi-Emperor realm. Although he had sustained severe injuries, his life was preserved after all. Following the relentless efforts of his subordinates and the deployment of countless precious treasures and medicines, he had recovered a significant amount, though it would still take time for his cultivation to fully restore.
Beneath his seat, the four Great Divine Lords were all experts at the mid-stage of the Quasi-Emperor realm, and there were also two experts at the late-stage of the Quasi-Emperor realm.
The rest were ministers below the Quasi-Emperor level.
Among them, more than half supported him in launching an attack against the Demon and Devil Realm, while the other half advocated for a ceasefire to coexist peacefully.
However, the attitude of these ministers was actually not very important; what truly mattered was the stance of those few Quasi-Emperor experts.
Needless to say, the four Great Divine Lords were trusted aides whom Feng Yuan had personally raised, so they naturally supported Feng Yuan.
The most critical among them were the two experts at the late-stage of the Quasi-Emperor realm.
These two served as the Left Prime Minister and Right Prime Minister. The Left Prime Minister supported Feng Yuan in going to war, while the Right Prime Minister advocated for a ceasefire.
With only the Right Prime Minister as the sole Quasi-Emperor advocating for peace, the pressure he faced was naturally immense, and his efforts were largely futile.
