After Thinking I Was the Top, I Was Taken by a Cold Beauty - Chapter 12
After Lin Yanxu sent Gu Xiao home, he found himself faced with a predicament for the first time in his life. The young man he had picked up from the roadside was currently clutching his arm and refusing to let go, insisting that Lin Yanxu hold him.
Yun Deng felt as if his entire body were weightless, as if he had entered heaven. In this paradise, he even saw that handsome man again. The handsome man stood before him, asking for his name and address. Following the principle that anyone who does not take advantage of a good situation is a fool, he immediately grabbed onto this hallucination and tried to burrow into the man’s arms, even though he was pushed away repeatedly.
Lin Yanxu pressed the young man’s head back into place and leaned over to fasten his seatbelt. Along the way, he had to block the other’s hands from tugging at his collar.
“Come closer… I have something to tell you,” Yun Deng muttered slurringly, his head sinking into the soft back of the seat as he gazed at the phantom before him.
Seeing that the youth had finally quieted down, Lin Yanxu lightly pinched his own collar. Realizing that two buttons on his shirt had been torn off, he said helplessly, “What is it?”
“Come closer, I cannot see you.”
Seeing that the man still stood motionless, Yun Deng grew anxious. His brain was too foggy to organize a complete sentence, so he struggled to sit up and lunged toward the man. Lin Yanxu leaned against the car door and watched the youth’s movements. As the boy lunged, Lin Yanxu sidestepped while catching him with his arm. He had not looked closely at the youth’s features before, but now that they were close, the boy’s breath fell entirely against his shoulder.
With his eyes closed, the youth tilted his head toward him and rested it on Lin Yanxu’s arm, falling asleep in that position. Under the moonlight, his long and thick eyelashes cast a shadow beneath his eyes. His nose was high yet delicate, and his lips were slightly pursed. Perhaps due to the alcohol, his face and neck were flushed with a rosy hue, and his slightly curly hair made him look even more obedient. Lin Yanxu lightly patted Yun Deng’s back to soothe him before slowly easing him into the car. He grabbed a cushion to ensure the youth sat comfortably and then drove away.
…
Yun Deng could feel himself in a light sleep because he seemed to hear the hum of a dehumidifier in the room, yet he could not wake up. After a while, he finally drifted into consciousness. Upon seeing the unfamiliar room decor, he was stunned for a long time, unable to recall how he had left or how he had arrived here.
The consequence of drinking too much was a slow brain and an aching body the next day. At this moment, he did not even have the strength to get out of bed. Feeling confused, Yun Deng glanced around and called out for Xia Shisheng. Receiving no response, he could not resist the drowsiness and slumped back onto the bed. Then, it occurred to him that he was supposed to go to work at the school today. There was a job of sweeping and taking out the trash waiting for him.
He hurriedly scrambled out of bed and searched the area, but he could not find his phone or his car keys. After shaking out the quilt twice, Yun Deng finally noticed the clothes he was wearing: a black and white miniskirt and a pair of stockings that only girls would wear. Yun Deng shivered as he lifted the skirt. Seeing that he was only wearing underwear, he felt even more desperate and quickly let the skirt fall.
He searched the entire room for his missing pants, which seemed to have flown off to parts unknown. It was not until he opened the wardrobe that he realized the layout of the room was very similar to a hotel. He turned back to the bed and checked the logo on the pillow to find out where he was. It was the same hotel where Song Shuya had held the pool party. Since leaving with Xia Shisheng last time, his friend had said that since the hotel had been acquired by a rival company, they should blacklist it and never return, lest they be assassinated.
While Yun Deng was regretting his decision to go drinking, the doorbell rang. In his current state, he had no desire to see anyone. He hid behind the door and used the electronic screen and intercom to ask what the person outside wanted.
“It is like this, sir. The gentleman who brought you here last night prepared a set of clothes and two hundred yuan for transportation for you. He asked us to deliver them at this time. Also, that gentleman has already paid for the room. The stay is valid until three o’clock this afternoon. You may check out at any time,” the housekeeping staff said from outside.
Yun Deng thanked them and asked them to leave the items at the door. Once the staff had gone, he stealthily opened the door and quickly pulled the tray into the room. After changing his clothes, his anxiety subsided significantly. The other party had thought of everything, even thoughtfully giving him money for a taxi. If he were not already in love with someone else, he would have been tempted to kneel and propose to this stranger on the spot.
Before checking out, Yun Deng specifically asked the front desk about the person who had booked the room. Unfortunately, no matter how much he pleaded or explained, they refused him with the standard line that they could not disclose guest privacy.
It was nearly noon. Even though it was not the weekend, the flow of people in the capital was always surging. Standing at the hotel entrance, he could see a long line of cars on the viaduct in the distance. He looked up at the sky, only lowering his head when the sun forced his eyes shut. Today was cloudless and the sunlight was perfect. If he had not drunk that glass of wine, he would currently be wearing a yellow vest and diligently sweeping the campus. Unfortunately, he had skipped work on only his fifth day on the job. This was terrible.
…
In the stairwell of the Boxue Building, Fang Yu and Tao Chunhua were gossiping. With five minutes left before class, both were carrying their laptops and walking unhurriedly up the stairs to their respective classrooms.
Tao Chunhua beamed and lowered her voice. “I saw a scratch on Teacher Lin’s neck today. It was not there yesterday.”
Since they all shared the same office, Fang Yu had naturally seen it clearly. She lowered her head to suppress the strange emotions in her heart and said, “Perhaps he scratched himself?”
Tao Chunhua was about to argue, but she was interrupted by a group of students heading down for physical education class. A crowd of teenagers rushed down the stairs, their noisy laughter echoing wherever they went. For a moment, the volume in the stairwell increased significantly. Fang Yu did not really want to discuss this with Tao Chunhua, so she quickened her pace to pull ahead.
Tao Chunhua could tell that Fang Yu was a bit unhappy, but she simply wanted to gossip and analyze the situation. After the bell rang for class, Fang Yu opened her courseware and began the day’s lesson. Because the text was relatively simple, she assigned some classroom exercises for the students to do. Finishing the last English reading comprehension right as the dismissal bell rang, Fang Yu finally relaxed and left the classroom.
For the past few days, she had been unable to control her feelings for Lin Yanxu. She had even complained to her friends about why the Academic Affairs Office would place a male teacher who excelled in looks, character, and education in their office. Waiting by the stairwell railing for a moment, she saw Tao Chunhua.
“Fang, do you want me to go and ask for you later? You look so miserable right now,” Tao Chunhua said caringly.
“Let us not. That would be too intentional,” Fang Yu sighed.
The two agreed not to mention it again before returning to the office. Lin Yanxu had no classes this afternoon. He was currently standing at his desk, spreading out rice paper to practice his calligraphy. His desk was the last one by the window. At this moment, the golden sunlight shone through the window and onto him, creating a picture of peaceful tranquility. Today, he was wearing a brown shirt with a long khaki trench coat, exuding a sense of mature elegance.
Tao Chunhua also particularly liked the aura Lin Yanxu projected. She approached him with a cup of tea. Seeing that he was writing an ancient poem from the textbook, she praised him. “Xiao Lin, your handwriting is truly excellent.”
Lin Yanxu stopped his movements and gave a soft smile. “It is not particularly special.”
As Tao Chunhua drew closer, she saw the scratch on his neck again. The desire for gossip burned within her. Thinking that they were all in the same office, she asked boldly, “What happened to your neck? Do you have a girlfriend?”
At these words, Fang Yu, who was sitting in front, immediately stopped what she was doing. Pretending to be natural, she turned around and echoed the question. Lin Yanxu touched the scratch on his neck, his mind briefly returning to the previous night. He restrained the emotions in his eyes and replied with a trace of a smile, “It is nothing. I was just scratched by a cat near my home.”
“I see.”
Tao Chunhua nodded and replied. Having received an answer, she finished the tea in her cup and then left Lin Yanxu’s side to refill her water. For a time, none of the three spoke again, each immersing themselves in their afternoon tasks.
…
In Xia Shisheng’s apartment in the east of the city, chaos was currently erupting, nearly threatening to tear down the ceiling. Xia Shisheng had been sleeping when he suddenly felt someone trying to unbutton his pants. Thinking his childhood friend was so desperate for a man that he was going to make a move on him, he nearly jumped out of his skin.
The two chased each other through several rooms. Yun Deng held the skirt he had worn the night before and chased after Xia Shisheng. Before coming over, he had vowed that he would strip off his friend’s clothes and make him wear the skirt today. In the panic, Xia Shisheng grabbed his slippers and ran, shouting, “I am a straight man! Do not get any ideas about me!”
Yun Deng was so angry he felt like he might faint on the spot. He had specifically asked the people who had been hired to accompany them the night before; they had a better tolerance for alcohol and had told him exactly what happened. Sure enough, it was that bastard Xia Shisheng who had taken the initiative to strip his clothes, causing him to lose face by wearing a miniskirt.
When Xia Shisheng learned why he was being chased, he immediately retorted, “Who are you blaming for your own poor alcohol tolerance? You are terrible at games too.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Yun Deng grabbed one of his arms. Both of them fell onto the bed together. Yun Deng was pinned to the mattress by his friend’s arm, making it difficult to breathe. After this commotion, Xia Shisheng felt he was even more afraid of his gay childhood friend. This was simply too terrifying. While the other was too exhausted to move, Xia Shisheng quickly grabbed his phone from the floor and began editing a post for his social circle.
“Seeking a partner online! My friend is gay and is currently so desperate for a man that he is trying to make a move on me. Someone please brings a beautiful and gentle Bottom to date my friend!”
After clicking send, Xia Shisheng released his hold on Yun Deng and patted him on the shoulder. “Good boy, stay still. Your father will immediately find you your favorite Bottom to soothe your wounded soul.”
