- After the Young Master’s Death, He was Kissed by His Mortal Enemy!
- Chapter 99 - Moving Is Urgent
After reading the message from the 24th-floor owner, Shen Ran was instantly wide awake.
He sat up quickly, having no time to smooth his hair which was messy as a bird’s nest, and hurriedly replied to the message.
[So sorry, so sorry! It was my fault, and it absolutely won’t happen again! I am so incredibly sorry for disturbing your rest!!]
After sending the message, Shen Ran tossed the phone into Cheng Yi’s lap, threw on his clothes haphazardly, and rushed downstairs.
When he opened the door and saw his home in a state of complete chaos, Shen Ran fell silent.
Several large decorative vases had toppled and shattered into pieces; clearly, the breaking sounds the neighbor heard this morning came from here. The throw pillows from the sofa were scattered everywhere, with the furthest one having traveled all the way from the living room to the balcony. Beyond that, various pieces of furniture seemed to have shifted to varying degrees. It was a total mess.
“Just… how… did you all turn my house into this?!”
The culprits—or rather, the culprit spirits—were currently standing in a row like they had done something wrong, heads bowed low.
Xia Xingyuan looked full of remorse. “Shen Ran, I am sorry. We do not need to sleep, and Mop has been frolicking since early morning, running around and knocking so many things over.”
Spirits might be ethereal, but they could touch objects. Shen Ran still remembered how his soul nearly left his body when Xiao Dong first held his hand. Mop was a dog, not a human; he didn’t know how to exercise restraint or be careful, which was why things got so messy.
Xiao Dong followed with a vigorous nod, his voice a small mumble. “I tried to catch him, but… I just made everything messier.”
Xia Xingyuan explained, “Xiao Dong wanted to help me temporarily subdue Mop, but he is just a kid and not very agile. He ended up making things worse and even knocked me over several times.”
Shen Ran let out a weary sigh. When it was just Xiao Dong, this had never been an issue. Clearly, having spirits live in a regular apartment was not a long-term solution; they were bound to disturb the neighbors eventually. He couldn’t go door-to-door apologizing every single day.
Right then, the perpetrator dog, little Mop, trotted to his feet, looking up at him expectantly with his tail wagging so fast it was practically flying. He looked so cute and innocent that it was hard to imagine he was the one who turned everything upside down this morning.
Looking at Mop acting cute, Shen Ran gritted his teeth but then let out a helpless breath. “Mop, I am truly defeated by you!”
Ultimately, Shen Ran issued a strict command to Xiao Dong and Xia Xingyuan:
“Clean up my house and watch Mop! If you pull any more stunts that affect the downstairs neighbors over the next few days, I really won’t be easy on you!”
Throughout all of this, Cheng Yi had been holding the phone with the camera on, watching the show with great interest specifically, watching Shen Ran give his lecture.
Despite his repeated warnings, Shen Ran still felt a bit uneasy. However, after running around so much lately, it was time for him to head back to the gallery and check on things.
“I never would have guessed that you, with your usually slow and dazed reactions, could be so imposing when giving a lecture. I was almost scared by you,” Cheng Yi teased on the way to the company.
“Give it a rest,” Shen Ran rolled his eyes. “I see you were just a bystander, enjoying the chaos as long as it didn’t involve you.”
When they arrived at their destination, Cheng Yi said, “The holiday is coming up. I’m going to hold a meeting for the employees. I’ll come find you once I’m done.”
In truth, there wasn’t much of a meeting to hold. Cheng Yi wanted to do something else—something that could make Shen Ran’s dream come true.
Shen Ran didn’t suspect anything and headed straight into his gallery.
“Boss, you are finally back! I thought you were going to dump this whole gallery on me and go off to enjoy yourself with President Cheng!”
Lin Huohuo hurried over to greet him. Even though it had only been a few days, Lin Huohuo’s mental state looked completely different. Before, Lin Huohuo took after his boss—slacking off, lazy, with “leisure” written all over his face. But now, Lin Huohuo looked radiant and well-dressed. As he approached with a smile, a phrase came to Shen Ran’s mind: a young and promising talent.
Lin Huohuo tossed his hair back, looking quite proud. “Boss, while you were away, I meticulously managed the gallery for you. I’ve received countless clients looking to buy paintings. I feel like I am frighteningly strong right now!”
Seeing Lin Huohuo so energetic and full of fighting spirit, Shen Ran shook his head and laughed. Was this the power of a breakup? Converting grief into motivation Lin Huohuo was a perfect example of that.
“By the way, Boss. This morning, your father sent someone to buy a painting. When they paid, they deposited another eight million into your account. What is that about?”
Shen Xianming hadn’t lied; the eight million had indeed arrived. He even took a painting in the process, which wasn’t a bad deal. Making a net profit of eight million put Shen Ran in an exceptionally good mood.
Opening his laptop, he checked the extra money in his account with satisfaction and answered the puzzled Lin Huohuo casually. “Nothing, just eight million in pocket money.”
If anyone else said “eight million in pocket money,” Lin Huohuo would definitely think they were showing off. But coming from his Boss Shen, he didn’t find it strange at all. He even nodded as if it were perfectly normal. “Ah, pocket money, right.”
Just then, another customer arrived looking to buy a painting. Seeing the client, Lin Huohuo immediately pounced like he’d been injected with adrenaline, throwing himself into his work with full passion. “Sir, would you like to see some paintings? What kind are you looking for? Please follow me.”
Looking at the dedicated Lin Huohuo, Shen Ran was very gratified. The gallery’s income was steadily rising; it was finally time for him to be a true hands-off boss!
With Lin Huohuo handling the guests, Shen Ran enjoyed the peace, hugging his laptop as he sat in his executive chair. He had other plans in mind.
When he was first reborn, he didn’t have much money, and Cheng Yi’s place “happened” to be upstairs. So, it was only natural for him to move into Cheng Yi’s place, and the matter of buying a house was put on hold. Now that he had much more money and the “household” was growing, a small apartment really couldn’t hold everyone without disturbing others.
Buying a house really needed to be put on the schedule. And it couldn’t be an apartment like this; it had to be a villa, a big villa.
Browsing through online listings for villas, Shen Ran felt a bit conflicted. The scale of the house needed to be large, as who knew how many more people might join later. The location couldn’t be too prominent, or it might scare people, but it couldn’t be too remote either, or it wouldn’t be convenient for him and Cheng Yi to go out.
…Hmm, maybe it would be best to buy two villas. They could be adjacent, so they wouldn’t have to literally live in the same building.
As he was agonizing over it, his head was suddenly tapped, not too hard, by someone. A familiar teasing voice came from behind him.
“What are you thinking about? I could see you pouting from all the way over there. How unsightly.”
