- Chapter 16 - Those Two Slaps Drove Her...
The cherry pheromones inside the car were severed as if by magic.
Jiang Mingyue’s imprisoned soul was finally liberated. She cupped Lu Lingzhi’s face with one hand. “Does it hurt?”
“It hurts.” Lu Lingzhi stared fixedly at the woman inches away from her. Her gaze drifted from Jiang Mingyue’s face to her lips, then to the scent gland hidden behind her long hair. “You already slapped me, and I already called you ‘Sister.’ It wouldn’t be too much to let me take one bite, right?”
At this moment, physiological demand overrode everything else.
She raised a trembling finger, attempting to hook Jiang Mingyue’s hand. Opening her mouth, she pleaded, “Let me have a bite, okay?”
“We are just former good…” Friends.
The word “friends” never made it out. Lu Lingzhi’s icy fingertip pressed gently against her soft lips, silencing the unfinished sentence. The fingertip smeared a bit of the pale lipstick, leaving an ambiguous mark that blurred boundaries and disrupted their breathing.
Subconsciously, Jiang Mingyue parted her lips slightly. Her teeth grazed the finger in an unconscious nip. The moment her teeth felt the soft pad of the finger and the hard bone beneath, she snapped back to her senses, releasing her grip as if burned.
Lu Lingzhi slowly withdrew her hand. She lowered her eyes, staring at the mark on her fingertip.
On the pale lipstick, there was a trace of clear moisture.
Ambiguous. Chaotic.
Cold and warmth intertwined.
In the dim space, it reflected a subtle luster.
She seemed to have fallen into a dizzying, dangerous whirlpool of confusion, where logic was losing a frantic tug of war with instinct.
She looked up, her deep gaze locking onto Jiang Mingyue. She pressed the finger, stained with lipstick and saliva, lightly against her own pale, dry lips. Her tongue flicked across the tip, tasting the slight sweetness of the lipstick and the scent of tulips belonging to the other woman.
Jiang Mingyue: “…”
Those two slaps turned her into a yandere.
Tsundere was the baseline. Yandere was definitely not.
Absolute reason was collapsing; dark thoughts were sprouting. There was an indescribable sense of depravity, repeatedly tearing at her soul.
Lu Lingzhi looked at Jiang Mingyue, her eyes usually full of cold pride, now smoldering. Her voice was husky and dangerous: “Can I bite you?”
Jiang Mingyue reached into the back of the passenger seat and pulled out a box of finger cots, sliding one onto her finger. Under Lu Lingzhi’s dazed, pained, and yearning gaze, she held out the finger now covered in a thin layer of latex to the girl’s lips.
“Open…” Your mouth.
Lu Lingzhi gazed blankly at the offered finger. She grabbed Jiang Mingyue’s wrist with both hands and, without hesitation, took the latex-covered finger into her mouth.
She began to suck slowly, her soft tongue clumsily licking the smooth surface of the cot, as if drawing some sort of illusory comfort.
Then, the pressure increased, turning into a vent-like gnawing. Her teeth ground against Jiang Mingyue’s fingertip through the thin plastic.
Jiang Mingyue remained motionless, letting her hold and bite. The warm, subtle sensation of the biting traveled along her nerves, stirring a complex, indescribable ripple in her heart. She lowered her eyelids, her long lashes hiding the surging undercurrents in her eyes.
She turned her gaze to the scenery outside.
Capital General Hospital
“I’ll go register us,” Jiang Mingyue whispered to Lu Lingzhi. She then glanced at the delivery driver, who was wearing a mask. “Could you keep an eye on her for a moment? I’ll pay you for the extra time.”
The Number was Called.
The doctor looked solemn. She picked up a small flashlight and signaled for Lu Lingzhi to turn her head, carefully examining the swollen gland area on the back of her neck. Under the bright light, the abnormality of the skin was even more apparent.
Next, the doctor took out a silver instrument, a pheromone concentration meter.
The cold probe pressed lightly against the skin near the gland.
The numbers on the screen began to jump, finally stabilizing. The doctor pushed up her glasses. “Miss Lu, it is indeed an abnormal differentiation. Go for a blood test first; we need to check the changes in pheromone concentration.”
“Doctor,” Jiang Mingyue interrupted immediately, “we did a comprehensive physical exam at this hospital yesterday.”
The doctor swiped Lu Lingzhi’s ID on the card reader. The medical file quickly popped up. After a few seconds of scrutiny, her brow twitched. “Mhm, someone put a rush on this for you. The report will be out Monday morning.”
“For now, we just wait for the results. I’ll prescribe an external anti-inflammatory soothing ointment, apply it around the gland, avoiding the central opening. Also, some oral anti-inflammatories to ease the discomfort. Her pain is episodic.” As the doctor typed the prescription, she instructed, “Rest more. Avoid strenuous exercise or emotional excitement. Avoid contact with high-concentration pheromones. Prohibit the use of any forced catalytic drugs. We’ll wait for Monday’s results to determine the direction of the differentiation before deciding on further treatment.”
“Doctor…” Lu Lingzhi’s voice trembled with a hint of a sob. She gripped Jiang Mingyue’s sleeve tightly, looking at the doctor with pleading eyes. “Will a secondary differentiation be very painful? Can I… can I just not differentiate? I just want to stay an Omega. As long as I can stay the way I was, I don’t care how much it costs.”
The doctor looked at Lu Lingzhi’s fragile state. “The final result isn’t out yet, so don’t scare yourself. Take your medicine, apply the ointment, and rest well until Monday, okay?”
However, during the measurement just now, both Jiang Mingyue and the delivery driver standing slightly behind had seen the value displayed on the screen, pH: 9.
They both knew what that meant.
Pheromone pH Scale:
- 1–6: Alpha Pheromones (Acidic)
- 8–13: Omega Pheromones (Alkaline)
Lu Lingzhi’s records from her first differentiation showed a pH of 12 (a typical, high-concentration A-grade Omega).
Now, it was 9. While still within the alkaline range for an Omega, the drop from 12 represented a fluctuation greater than 2 points.
This pointed to one fact: Her pheromones were undergoing a violent shift. Her concentration and nature were changing, moving steadily toward the direction of an Alpha.
Seeing Lu Lingzhi’s “I refuse to accept reality” look, the doctor chose to withhold the truth for now, pushing the burden of explanation onto the upcoming report.
After getting the medicine and walking out of the emergency building, a cool night breeze blew.
Jiang Mingyue suddenly remembered the delivery driver was still waiting. She had forgotten to pay.
“Sorry for taking so much of your time.” Jiang Mingyue took out her phone apologetically. “Can I add you on WeChat? I’ll transfer the fee to you.”
The other party’s WeChat name popped up: 【aaa-Substitute-Driver-Tutor-Xie-Fuyun】.
A very “workaholic” name.
However, the name “Xie Fuyun” sounded familiar to Jiang Mingyue. She quickly transferred 300 yuan. “100 is for the drive, 200 is compensation for your time. Thank you very much.”
The transfer was accepted instantly.
Xie Fuyun put away her phone, but her gaze bypassed Jiang Mingyue and landed on Lu Lingzhi, who was leaning against Jiang Mingyue with her head down, looking listless. Her expression was complex, as if she wanted to say something.
Ultimately, she just nodded to Jiang Mingyue. “I’ll be going then.”
Watching Xie Fuyun’s retreating back, Jiang Mingyue guided Lu Lingzhi toward her car. An uncontrollable thought, tinged with a dark sense of anticipation, crept up from the depths of her heart like a vine.
If Lu Er really differentiates into an Alpha…
Imagine the second Miss Lu who always held her chin up high and bossed people around in that arrogant, clear voice one day perhaps feeling a bit awkward, or perhaps driven by pheromonal instinct, calling out in that same voice:
“Sister Mingyue.”
“Sister Mingyue.”
Just imagining that scene sent a secret thrill up her spine, causing the corners of her mouth to curve upward uncontrollably.
She was strangely satisfied.
But the moment was broken by a sound. She stopped and turned. In the dim light of the parking lot, Lu Lingzhi, still not fully recovered, stumbled and leaned against the car door.
Jiang Mingyue followed suit, looming over her. She pinched the soft flesh of Lu Lingzhi’s chin, forcing her to look up. “Lu Lingzhi, call me ‘Sister Mingyue’.”
Having just gone through the hospital check-up and been refreshed by the night air, Lu Lingzhi’s eyes had regained their usual clarity.
She looked at Jiang Mingyue’s face and heard this bizarre request. Her beautiful peach-blossom eyes were instantly filled with a “Are you sick? How dare you” look.
“I’ve been busy all afternoon for you; this isn’t too much to ask.” Jiang Mingyue’s thumb brushed against Lu Lingzhi’s jawline with a hint of wicked teasing, as if revisiting a wonderful secret. “You called me that quite nicely in the car earlier, didn’t you? If I asked you to call me ‘Mama,’ you’d probably do that too, right?”
The things Lu Lingzhi had tried to forget came rushing back.
Thinking about how she called her “Sister Mingyue” in the car, and then after being slapped, actually saying “it feels so good”… and then being forced to call her “Sister” again.
How humiliating.
It was a survival strategy! A tactical retreat!
She could be soft or hard when necessary.
But coming out of Jiang Mingyue’s mouth, it sounded… it sounded like some unspeakable, filthy thing from a trashy novel.
All those embarrassing moments were being held against her.
System, my System.Do you know Jiang Mingyue is bullying me? She’s taking advantage of me, she slapped me, and she’s being mean.
【System Read (and gave a chaotic reply): She slapped you twice and was mean twice, so your nickname is Lu Er (Lu Two), which has evolved into Er Er and Er Bao (Second Baby).】
Fuming with embarrassment, Lu Lingzhi swiped Jiang Mingyue’s hand away and tilted her chin up arrogantly. “Jiang Mingyue, your brain is broken. I only have one sister. What are you thinking? Trying to take advantage of me! Your three views are in pieces. You’re obsessed with being someone’s sister? Go be a tutor then! The streets are full of people looking for a ‘Sister’ to help with homework. And if you want to be a ‘Mama’…”
“Why don’t you let me have a few drinks of your milk? Let me see if it tastes like tulips!”
Jiang Mingyue: !!! Lu Lingzhi: !!!
“Jiang Mingyue, your heart is so twisted, you should go study psychology and get yourself treated. Don’t study clinical medicine, don’t go out and harm patients!”
Just then, a cheerful, praise-seeking electronic voice rang out, one that only Lu Lingzhi could hear:
【System (Excited): Ding! Mama! Mama! Your punishment is over! I am finally online!】
