- Chapter 27 - Indulgence
Feng Mu’s mood had already turned sour after Di Yu’s cold dismissal, and the fact that Su Jianran had witnessed his entire humiliation only made it worse.
“Do you think I am incompetent too?” He grabbed Su Jianran by the neck, his tone biting. “You bitch, I will not let you break up with me that easily!”
Su Jianran’s pupils contracted in fear and disbelief. “I completely misjudged you.”
When they first started dating, Feng Mu was gentle and considerate, and she had genuinely fallen for him. However, it turned out to be a facade; he was constantly flirting with other women behind her back, never turning anyone down. A man this filthy; she must have been blind to be bewitched by him in the first place.
Xincheng Technology
Lin Zhouci had just finished signing twenty documents. It was exactly ten o’clock. Leaving his office, he passed by Ling Luo’s workstation and came to a halt, lingering there for a long time.
No one had been here for three days. A thin layer of dust covered the desk, and a potted green succulent next to the computer stand was turning yellow at the tips, looking quite parched. Lin Zhouci picked up a small transparent bottle from the desk filled with water. He pressed the nozzle and sprayed a light mist onto the succulent. He only pressed it twice to prevent overwatering.
Was Ling Luo’s allergic reaction truly that severe? As the culprit who caused her allergy and as her boss, it would be reasonable to visit her and check on her symptoms, would it not?
Lin Zhouci quickly dismissed the thought. She is just your subordinate and sees you only as her boss. Do not overstep; maintain professional boundaries.
Suddenly, his phone rang. It was Qi Zheng, a friend of Zhou Wangxing. Lin Zhouci hesitated for two seconds before hitting “Accept.”
“President Lin, come out for a drink!”
A cacophony of noise came through the receiver, and chaotic images of debauchery immediately flashed through his mind. He could almost smell the stench of cigarettes and alcohol. His stomach cramped instinctively. Lin Zhouci harbored a natural loathing for bars and similar entertainment venues.
“Young Master Qi, I am still working overtime. I do not have time to go.”
“Fine, fine. If you are not coming, then forget it.” The other end hung up abruptly.
Lin Zhouci lowered his eyes. These wealthy scions spent their days idling and neglected their duties, yet their families had enough money to sustain their squandering. It was the family resources behind these playboys that Lin Zhouci actually cared about. Lin Zhouci left the company.
Xunxue Bar
Qi Zheng put down his phone and downed a glass of whiskey in one gulp. “Wangxing, that guy Lin is a workaholic. He is so straight-laced; he would never come to a bar.”
“Heh!” Zhou Wangxing’s expression was grim.
After the unpleasantness at Huali Palace, Lin Zhouci had been calling him constantly, even scolding him indiscriminately. Ling Luo had suddenly disappeared, and Lin Zhouci actually suspected that he had kidnapped her! If it were not for the fact that Lin Zhouci’s company provided him with dividends, he would have snapped at him long ago.
However, his family had been looking up to him lately because they heard he made money from his investments, which improved his mood slightly.
“Drink, drink!” Zhou Wangxing raised his glass. Everyone at the booth clinked their glasses together.
Feng Mu walked over and glanced at them. Seeing him, Qi Zheng immediately stood up. “Hey! Over here! Come sit with us!”
Feng Mu saw that the young men and women in the booth were all well-known names within elite circles. “This is my new friend, Feng Mu!” Qi Zheng introduced him grandly.
Feng Mu gave a fake smile and picked up a glass. “Hello, everyone.”
After three drinks, Feng Mu sat down. Qi Zheng noticed his dark expression and teased, “What is wrong? You look terrible. Are you already burnt out at such a young age?”
“No, Di Yu played me today. My girlfriend even looked down on me and wanted to break up,” Feng Mu said with a self-deprecating laugh.
Zhou Wangxing caught the keyword. “Di Yu? How did he make things difficult for you?”
Feng Mu’s family owned a winery and was considered part of the upper class, but those present did not know much about the Feng family. However, hearing the name “Di Yu” piqued their curiosity. With all eyes on him, Feng Mu’s vanity was satisfied. He feigned indignation.
“I was just in the same elevator as him and accidentally glanced at his girlfriend. As a result, he belittled me as if I were worthless, making me lose face in front of my partner.”
Zhou Wangxing asked curiously, “What does Di Yu’s girlfriend look like?”
Qi Zheng was also intrigued. “Holy crap! I cannot believe you actually saw Di Yu’s mysterious girlfriend! Tell me quickly, which family’s little princess is she?”
“She is more beautiful than any trending actress. As for her identity, I do not know.”
Feng Mu took a sorrowful sip of wine and sighed. He did not reveal any more information about Di Yu or the woman. Pretending to be heartbroken, he quickly followed Qi Zheng onto the dance floor. Many young, beautiful women tried to hook up with him, and Feng Mu refused none of them.
Ling Luo leaned on Di Yu’s arm and yawned. “I do not want to shop anymore. Let us go back. I feel exhausted after the whole day.”
“We have not picked out a gift yet.”
“Let us buy it another day.”
“Alright.” Di Yu followed her lead and took her out of the mall.
Once in the car, Ling Luo closed her eyes to rest, acting indifferent. Di Yu spoke softly, “It has been a long time since you used my credit card.”
“I do not have anything I want to buy for now.”
“You do not use the linked payment either.”
“I am busy with work and have no time to spend money. Besides, I have my own salary.”
“I suddenly feel as though I am of no use to you at all.”
“Yes.”
“Why did you not contradict me?”
“I am asleep.”
Di Yu smiled helplessly. While waiting for a red light, he reached out and gently rubbed her head. This time, they did not return to the Palace Villa but arrived at an unfamiliar villa halfway up a mountain. Ling Luo stared nervously at the trees passing by outside the window.
“This place…”
“My private villa. We will live here from now on. What do you think?” Di Yu’s gaze was tender.
To Ling Luo’s ears, those words sounded like, “I am going to imprison you here, and you will never escape until you die.”
Damn it!
Ling Luo forced herself to stay calm. Her eyes darted around before landing on his handsome face. Di Yu drove the car into the garage, which was lit as bright as day. Ling Luo unfastened her seatbelt first and leaned toward him. She cupped his face with both hands, closed her eyes, and kissed him.
Thump, thump, thump!
Di Yu’s heart raced, and his face flushed. He was so excited he nearly fainted. The kiss was brief. Ling Luo pulled away as if she had completed a task and got out of the car. “Let us go, Di Yu.”
“Luo Luo,” his voice was hoarse.
Di Yu got out and followed closely behind her, taking her small hand. The upward curve of his lips revealed his joy. “You are so good to me,” he said.
A flash of confusion crossed Ling Luo’s eyes. One proactive kiss and he gave her such high praise? Entering the living room, Ling Luo scanned the area. The furniture, layout, and style were all perfectly aligned with her aesthetic. It seemed the villa had been decorated according to her preferences.
A hint of cunning flashed in Ling Luo’s eyes as she forcefully pushed Di Yu onto the soft, wide sofa. Di Yu’s eyes showed undisguised doting, indulging her as she began to lay her hands on him.
