- Chapter 19 - Delivering Himself to Her Door
Ling Luo felt as if there were needles at her back. She had a lingering sensation that Di Yu had seen through her little schemes. Her system was still in the middle of a shutdown, leaving her without a plan to deal with him for the time being.
Fortunately, Di Yu did not do anything else to make her uncomfortable. He entered the factory and emerged less than a minute later.
“Luo Luo, if I asked you to accompany me to the Di Group for tea, would Lin Zhouci refuse?”
“Do not do anything reckless!” Ling Luo’s heart tightened in anxiety.
“You have Sundays off, right?” Di Yu leaned toward her once again.
A cold, cedarwood fragrance washed over her, and Ling Luo’s heart skipped a beat.
“You have finished your tour, which means my work is done. Please go back now. Goodbye.” Ling Luo maintained a two-meter distance from him.
Di Yu’s lips curled into a smirk. “Alright.” He then left Xincheng.
Ling Luo let out a sigh of relief. Inside the office building, a group of people observed her from the shadows. Ling Luo walked through the main doors and onto the elevator. The entire process took less than a minute, yet countless gazes followed her every move. When a woman is beautiful, she can rely on her looks. Not only did President Lin value her, but even the crown prince of the Di family had personally requested her to lead his tour. In the professional world, a face like hers truly ensured one never went hungry.
In the CEO’s office, Lin Zhouci sat at his desk and signed ten documents. Ling Luo brought in a cup of warm red date tea.
“President Lin, Director Di is very satisfied with our products.”
She placed the tea on the desk and took the signed documents out with her. The red date tea sat on the desk, steam rising from the plain white porcelain cup. Lin Zhouci felt the cup was missing a pattern. Previously, Assistant Ling had always served him coffee, but now she had switched to red date tea. He took a sip. The rich flavor was accompanied by a hint of sweetness, and the warmth spread through his stomach.
That evening, Di Yu was leaning against Ling Luo’s door. When she returned from work and saw him, her heart constricted in fear.
“Why are you here again? I said today that the kiss is no longer happening.” Ling Luo gripped her bag tightly.
The man was tall and lean, lounging against the door with an innate sense of nobility that could not be ignored. Even while motionless, a single glance from him could make one feel apprehensive.
“It is very late. Please go home,” Ling Luo urged.
His narrow, deep dark eyes were cold, but a curl of his lips immediately added a doting undertone. Di Yu stood behind her and leaned down to catch the scent of her neck. “I will make you a midnight snack.”
“There is no need.”
“You said my cooking was superb.” His voice was hoarse.
Ling Luo felt a warm dampness against her ear. Her body trembled, and she pushed him away. “My period is not over yet, you pervert!”
Di Yu’s lips curved into a pleasant arc. Ling Luo pressed her thumb against the fingerprint lock. A click sounded, and the door opened.
Ling Luo looked helpless. “Look at the ingredients in the fridge and make something, but do not make too much.”
“Okay.”
He stood in the entryway and skillfully put on a pair of slippers. He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. “Go take a shower first.”
Ling Luo was truly out of options when it came to him. She could only allow him to do as he pleased. After showering and changing into conservative pajamas, she left her room. Di Yu walked over wearing the Hello Kitty apron. The size was only meant for Ling Luo, and on him, it looked small and somewhat cute, contrasting sharply with his cold and stern aura.
The next second, her wrist was seized by a sudden force and pulled toward the man’s chest. Before she could react, she was forced to slide her hand down. Even through two layers of fabric, she could clearly feel his eight-pack abs and his searing heat.
Ling Luo snapped her hand back, looking disgusted. “That is so greasy and a total turn-off.”
“You were staring at them. I thought you were too shy to touch them, so I took the initiative.”
“I was not staring at your muscles. I was just afraid you would stretch out my apron.”
“Eat your snack first. I will help you with the laundry.”
“Whatever you want.”
Since it was just a matter of putting them in the washing machine, he was merely supervising the appliance. It was nothing to worry about. Ling Luo sat at the table before a warm bowl of shrimp and vegetable porridge and a bowl of lobster noodles. The portions were perfect for her appetite.
Di Yu was in the laundry room washing clothes by hand. He emerged thirty minutes later. The woman was gone from the living room, leaving only a sticky note on the dining table.
[I am very tired and went to sleep. Clean up the leftovers before you leave.]
Di Yu placed the note in his pocket as if it were a precious treasure. Only half of the porridge and noodles had been eaten. Di Yu picked up the spoon she had used, scooped up some porridge, and as he put the spoon in his mouth, a flush appeared on his handsome, pale face.
After leisurely finishing the leftovers, Di Yu washed the dishes. The lights in the living room were all off, leaving the space in total darkness. In the shadows, Di Yu quietly opened the door to the master bedroom. His deep eyes took on a crimson glow as they locked onto the woman on the bed. A small nightlight on the bedside table emitted a dim yellow glow, revealing the blurred silhouette of her lying on her side.
Di Yu sat on the edge of the bed, lifted a strand of her hair to his nose, and took a deep breath. The sweet scent of apples filled his lungs, as if his very blood were stained with her essence. If they had not slept together that time, perhaps she would not have proposed a breakup, and he would not have to suffer the pain of longing every day and night. In the past, he could see her vivid, bright self every day. Now, he had to search for time and opportunities just to see her once.
He did not care about the things she had lied to him about, as long as she did not leave him. His eyes burned with a crimson desire as he slowly leaned down and pressed a restrained, controlled kiss to her lips. They were soft and sweet. He could not resist kissing her again.
A thought of staying the night surfaced, but his rationality immediately suppressed the wild desire. There were many dolls scattered on the floor; he picked them all up and arranged them neatly. He took a small apple plush toy, but instead of putting it back on the bed, he hid it in his pocket.
The transformation system hiding in the space could not bear to watch. A love-struck fool. This villain was beyond saving.
Lin Zhouci learned through Zhou Wangxing that the wealthiest man in the city was about to celebrate his 80th birthday. This man was the grandfather of the Di family crown prince. If he could build a good relationship with Di Yu, a single word from a man of that status would allow him to meet the tycoon.
Lin Zhouci pinched the bridge of his nose. He had dealt with Di Yu personally; the man was aloof, cold, and extremely difficult to approach.
“President Lin, the meeting starts in ten minutes.” Ling Luo’s sweet and clear voice reached him.
Lin Zhouci snapped back to reality and stared at her face for a long time. “What else did Director Di say to you yesterday?”
“He only said our products were very good and that he intends to cooperate with our company in the future,” Ling Luo answered earnestly.
“Were there no other casual conversations?” Lin Zhouci smiled, but there was no warmth in his eyes.
Ling Luo felt a wave of panic. She instinctively looked at the affection level above his head. It was at 55. There had been no change.
