Qi Zhi’e quietly observed her reddened eyes and chuckled lightly. “Is it because of your mission that you knew I never liked you?”
I never liked you.
Even though she already knew this fact, hearing it from Qi Zhi’e’s lips sent a sharp pain through Bian You’s heart.
It was like receiving confirmation from the source, proof that the system’s assessment was accurate. Qi Zhi’e really didn’t like her.
“Yes, the system told me you never liked me.” Not even the slightest change of heart.
Qi Zhi’e laughed softly, the amusement never reaching her eyes. “Then can I ask what the conditions for completing your mission are?”
The question seemed to erect an invisible wall between them, insurmountable.
“One hundred percent conquest value, or you… willingly say ‘I love you’ to me.” Bian You’s voice was strained, almost laughable, even the conquest value hadn’t budged, yet here she was hoping Qi Zhi’e would utter those three words.
Given their current circumstances, Bian You doubted she’d ever hear “I love you” from Qi Zhi’e in this lifetime.
“Is that so?” Qi Zhi’e murmured, rubbing her temples. “Then can you explain what’s going on with your pheromones?”
That watery scent was something Bian You had never possessed before.
Bian You touched her scent gland again. With the suppressant patch torn off by Qi Zhi’e, her fingertips now came into direct contact with the gland’s secretions, transparent, erotic, delivering peculiar pleasure with every touch.
“I don’t know.”
She spoke the truth. Even she couldn’t explain why pheromones had suddenly appeared in her gland, blending perfectly with Qi Zhi’e’s mating mark. While it brought her comfort, it also left her craving union with her Omega like some aphrodisiac had taken hold.
“What about your system?”
Qi Zhi’e’s abrupt question made Bian You even more uneasy.
“It went dormant after briefly explaining the mission when I first crossed over.”
Qi Zhi’e’s gaze turned profound as she studied her.
Bian You now felt utterly incapable of proving her claims. With her only concrete evidence, the system asleep, her earlier explanations sounded like the ravings of a madwoman.
Qi Zhi’e massaged her temples, feeling her body grow increasingly feverish under Bian You’s pheromones. The gland at her neck, much like another intimate place, was secreting copious amounts of that lubricating fluid with its distinctive scent.
She contemplated the future.
If this person wasn’t the real Bian You, what meaning did all her carefully laid plans hold? Was there even any point in keeping her close?
As these thoughts swirled, Bian You was experiencing unprecedented torment, far worse than anything Qi Zhi’e’s pheromones had previously inflicted.
Flames seemed to consume her from within, boiling her blood until it nearly evaporated. Countless voices clamored in her mind urges to destroy, to ravage, overwhelming desires screaming for release.
She craved, desperately craved something to soothe her raging emotions. She longed to be possessed, to be enveloped by that lily-of-the-valley fragrance.
“Zhi’e, Qi Zhi’e…”
Bian You’s control was slipping. Her eyes reddened, veins bulging as she became a portrait of agony.
The suffering was unbearable. Though she didn’t understand why this was happening, her body ached for Qi Zhi’e to be held, to be blanketed by that sweet floral scent.
Qi Zhi’e observed the figure writhing in pain on the couch, a cold smile gradually curving her lips.
What did it matter if this wasn’t the real Bian You? Did that mean she had no value? As long as she remained useful, why overcomplicate things?
Squeezing out every last drop of her worth, that was what truly mattered.
Now, she needed Bian You’s assistance, and someone who relied on strategies to complete tasks was the easiest to control.
The faintly sweet scent of lily of the valley began to spread, purposefully enveloping Bian You, soothing her glands that had grown restless due to her rut.
Qi Zhi’e let out a low chuckle.
She had a feeling that her future heats would be much easier to endure.
The showerhead above sprayed hot water in a steady drizzle, the high temperature quickly filling the space with a hazy mist. The scalding droplets turned her skin a deep, rosy red within moments.
The crimson flush on her skin carried an indescribable allure. The water traced the curves of her body before pooling on the floor, forming tiny rivulets that flowed toward the drain.
Bian You pressed against the smooth tiles, her upper body leaning into Qi Zhi’e’s embrace. Trembling slightly, she bit down on the flesh of Qi Zhi’e’s shoulder and neck, her eyes burning red, though she didn’t dare bite too hard.
Suppressed gasps made her throat itch, but she was too embarrassed to let out any sound. Her body gradually tensed before finally collapsing limply against Qi Zhi’e.
Even as she gasped for air, Bian You still felt starved of oxygen, her mind blank and dazed.
Qi Zhi’e tightened her arms around her to keep her from slipping. Her stunningly beautiful face, usually as cold as ice, had melted into something tender, a soft smile playing on her lips. The faint teardrop mole at the corner of her eye only added to her mesmerizing charm as her gaze flickered.
“Feeling better?” Qi Zhi’e tilted her head slightly, murmuring against Bian You’s ear.
Bian You shivered, the embers that had momentarily been extinguished threatening to reignite. Shamefaced, she closed her eyes, still unable to stand on her own, her legs too weak to support her.
She never would have imagined that Qi Zhi’e would help her through her rut like this.
Qi Zhi’e truly lived up to her reputation her thoughts and actions were far more unconventional than other omegas.
Instead of answering, Bian You lowered her voice and whispered, “Help me wash up… then take me to bed, okay?”
She was exhausted not just physically, but mentally as well, the prolonged tension finally giving way to fatigue.
Qi Zhi’e’s brow twitched slightly, the curve of her lips deepening with meaning. Supporting Bian You against her, she squeezed a dollop of shower gel into her palm, working it into a rich lather before carefully washing her.
Bian You burned with embarrassment, yet every touch sent tremors through her. By the time they finished washing, Qi Zhi’e had begun blow-drying her hair with meticulous care.
Watching Qi Zhi’e’s focused expression in the mirror as she gently combed through her hair, Bian You felt her chest grow unbearably warm.
Those fingers moved through her strands with just the right amount of pressure, not only drying her hair but also massaging her scalp, easing her nerves further.
Lying on the soft bed, Bian You turned onto her side to look at Qi Zhi’e. Despite her exhaustion, she couldn’t bring herself to close her eyes and sleep.
“Why aren’t you sleeping yet?” Qi Zhi’e had initially tried to ignore her gaze, but Bian You’s unwavering stare made it impossible.
“Could you try to like me a little more in the future?” Bian You’s voice was soft, filled with longing to know whether Qi Zhi’e could grow to love her despite knowing she wasn’t the original host.
Qi Zhi’e turned her head to glance at her before looking away, hands resting lightly on her stomach as she chuckled. “So you can complete your mission and leave this world?”
“No!” At these words, Bian You immediately propped herself up, gazing at Qi Zhi’e with urgency. “If you like me, I won’t leave this world.”
If Qi Zhi’e didn’t love her, she wouldn’t even have the ability to leave.
Hearing this, Qi Zhi’e lifted her eyes to meet Bian You’s gaze. After a long moment, she smiled gently, her voice tender.
“Alright, I’ll try to like you.”
Bian You’s eyes instantly brightened, a genuine smile spreading across her face as she lay back down beside Qi Zhi’e. Closing her eyes, she murmured, “Qi Zhi’e, I’m so happy.”
So happy that everything between them was finally laid bare, that she no longer had any secrets from Qi Zhi’e.
Qi Zhi’e’s lips curved faintly, but she didn’t respond. Instead, she reached over to turn off the bedside lamp, plunging the room into darkness.
Surrounded by the comforting, sweet scent of flowers, Bian You soon fell into a deep sleep. Unbeknownst to her, Qi Zhi’e rose in the middle of the night and went to the study. When she returned, she gently pulled Bian You into her arms, holding her with utmost tenderness.
