- Chapter 37 - Don't, Not While He Is Asleep
Ye Lin was still filled with lingering fear. He wanted to hire a master to perform a ritual with a substitute to make the female ghost leave. Clutching Liang Wenle’s sleeve tightly, he pleaded in a low voice, “Wen, Wenle, please find a master for me first. I am truly afraid of being haunted to death by a ghost. If that happens, you will never see me again.”
Liang Wenle did not believe for a second that he had encountered a ghost. He simply dragged him to the second floor to get dressed and ready.
Ye Lin was terrified of looking at the mirror. His mind automatically conjured images of a female ghost suddenly crawling out from the glass, strangling him with fingers painted in red nail polish.
“Wenle, why do we not hire a master to cleanse the house? I suspect there is a ghost here.”
“Ye Lin, are you out of your mind?”
“I truly felt it! She is literally draining my essence; I am about to collapse!” Ye Lin was paranoid, pressing himself into Liang Wenle’s arms, convinced he had met a ghost. “The sixth pair of red embroidered shoes, do you know how terrifying that is?”
“There is no sixth pair of embroidered shoes. You just remembered incorrectly!” Liang Wenle wanted to help him dress up so they could go on a date, but the boy’s lack of cooperation was giving him a headache.
“There is! There definitely is!” Ye Lin wanted to cry again and could not help but apologize, “Beautiful Ghost Sister, I was wrong! I should not have bought those props. Please stop haunting me. It is so scary!”
Liang Wenle let out a long sigh. He suddenly felt that Ye Lin was as fragile as paper, as if he would break with a gentle squeeze.
“Wenle, it is real. Go find a master for me, I beg you.” Seeing the lack of reaction, Ye Lin took the initiative to kiss him. “Wenle, you are the best. Please, I beg you.”
Savoring the sweet kiss, Liang Wenle pressed him into his arms and kissed him thoroughly for a while before letting go. “Since you look so pitiful, I will accompany you to that shop to take a look.”
Ye Lin shook his head. “No, I am not going. I am not going there. It is too scary!”
Liang Wenle gave him no chance to resist. He picked him up and carried him toward the underground parking lot. After getting into the car, Ye Lin was still terrified. He curled up in the passenger seat, hugging his knees and burying his head, repeatedly muttering that there was a ghost.
Looking at his condition, Liang Wenle figured that if the issue was not resolved at the Xu Family Prop Shop, he would have to take him to see a psychologist. Liang Wenle suddenly felt like a mature and reliable partner who could take care of his sick boyfriend.
The Xu Family Prop Shop was located in a quiet, narrow alley where cars could not enter, so they had to walk. The surrounding buildings were mostly low and dilapidated, with tangled wires exposed in clusters and the ground full of potholes, looking completely out of place in a bustling metropolis.
Liang Wenle frowned with disgust as he got out of the car, feeling that staying here a moment longer would contaminate him. However, for Ye Lin’s sake, he endured it and walked inside. Ye Lin did not want to enter the shop, but he was forced along, feeling like crying but having no tears.
The prop shop’s decoration was vintage. The shop sign had a white background with red traditional characters designed to look like blood splatters, which appeared quite ghoulish. The entrance was small, but the space inside was large, holding over a dozen customers while staff members hurried about. Ye Lin was too afraid to even open his eyes when he saw the horror props, begging Liang Wenle to go back.
Liang Wenle grabbed a staff member and explained Ye Lin’s encounter, including the rumors about the shop. The staff member did not know whether to laugh or cry and first clarified the rumors. “Dear customer, if our shop used real dead people, the police would have arrested us long ago. Furthermore, we would never have obtained a business license. As for the embroidered shoes you mentioned, I will look them up for you. We keep records of all prop purchases.”
Ye Lin opened his eyes skeptically. Keeping his head down to avoid the horror props, he asked in a low voice, “Is, is that true?”
The staff member led him to a computer and showed him yesterday’s order records. “Look, yesterday your total reached 1,000, so the shop gave you a pair of red embroidered shoes as a gift. That is why there were six pairs.”
Ye Lin looked at the list on the computer, which clearly stated one pair was a gift. He was in complete disbelief. “Is, is this computer haunted too?”
Liang Wenle rolled his eyes and handed a large sum of money to the staff member. “Please check the surveillance footage. I am afraid his mental state is deteriorating.”
Having received the money, the staff member was naturally willing to check the surveillance carefully. He not only played back the footage of Ye Lin’s purchase frame by frame but also showed videos of the factory producing the embroidered shoes and explained the materials used, proving they could not be old artifacts.
Ye Lin watched the video of his purchase repeatedly and then thought of Gu Zhe’s words. “But people online said you use human skin to make masks.”
The staff member explained patiently, “Oh, those are all just rumors. We use high-quality silicone. You know, this material is supplied to plastic surgery hospitals. Many beautiful women and handsome men online use it because it feels like real skin.”
Ye Lin suddenly realized that Gu Zhe was an insidious and cunning person. He had not been scared at all yesterday, so he had likely lied to him. The extra shoes were a misunderstanding, and the human skin masks were a fabrication.
He had been tricked miserably by Gu Zhe! When a person is angry, fear tends to vanish. He was no longer afraid of ghosts; he just wanted to hit someone. He wished he could rush to the hospital and slap that trash, Gu Zhe, several times.
Ye Lin gritted his teeth. “There are no ghosts in this world, only people playing tricks!” Even though he had been the one to play ghost to scare others first, he now felt perfectly justified in pushing all the blame onto Gu Zhe.
The staff member advised sincerely, “That is right. Since you are so easily frightened, you should not buy props to scare people in the future.”
Liang Wenle nodded. “Exactly. Do not mess with these weird things next time. Just stay at home properly.”
Ye Lin was in no mood to worry about horror props; he only wanted revenge on Gu Zhe. “Let us go.”
Liang Wenle saw his cold expression and asked dissatisfiedly, “Hey, I cared about you so much and even came to a place like this. You did not even thank me!”
Ye Lin finally reacted and quickly put on a flattering smile. “Wenle, you are so good to me. You are actually willing to spend so much effort and time for me. I like you the most.”
Liang Wenle felt that Ye Lin was being perfunctory, but since he was in the honeymoon phase of love, his heart was full of sweetness. He would not doubt his lover’s affection. He put his arm around Ye Lin and walked toward the door. “As long as you know. You must always like me from now on.”
Ye Lin replied habitually, “Of course, I will always like you.”
The staff member watched their retreating figures, got goosebumps, and began to doubt his life. Do all gay men talk in such a cloying and disgusting way? And even he could tell that the ghost-fearing boy’s tone was perfunctory and fake. Could the rich young master beside him not tell? The staff member remained silent, simply lowering his head to type out his complaints.
They returned to the villa to freshen up and did not go out until evening. The sunset had completely dipped below the horizon, leaving only a vast, lonely, light gray sky. Nearby was a broad helipad, and as far as the eye could see, there were no tall buildings. Several aircraft were parked there, including a deep blue helicopter.
This helicopter was several times larger than an ordinary one. It featured gold-painted olive patterns, a beautiful design, powerful performance, and was valued at 180 million. Liang Wenle brought Ye Lin to the Liang family’s private airfield today specifically to board this helicopter and head to their dating sanctuary.
After the helicopter took off, it crossed the nearby sea. As the sky darkened, many large white lights and twelve yachts were floating on the sea surface. These yachts were being operated by Liang Wenle’s friends, and each was worth over 100 million. Ye Lin looked closely and realized that these objects were forming several large letters on the vast sea, a simple English phrase that he could not quite read.
Under the night sky, on the wide sea, it was a confession worth over a billion. Everyone knew that tonight, Liang Wenle was showing his love for his boyfriend.
Liang Wenle whispered the phrase into his ear and asked, “How is it? Do you like it?”
Ye Lin was confused but still nodded. “I like it. It is very beautiful. Are those all yachts? They look very expensive.”
Liang Wenle thought his dazed and silly expression was too cute. He could not help but kiss him and pinch his cheeks playfully, teasing, “You like yachts?”
Ye Lin pressed both hands against the glass, staring intently at the yachts on the sea, his eyes sparkling from the lights. “I like them! I like them very much!” He was an illegitimate son for whom survival was a struggle. How could he ever own a yacht?
In Liang Wenle’s world, large toys like yachts and planes were things he had been receiving in various forms since he was fifteen, so many that he could not even play with them all. In his mind, it was truly pitiful that Ye Lin reached adulthood without owning several yachts.
Liang Wenle sighed with pity. “You are so pitiful. In a few days, I will take you to customize a one of a kind yacht.”
Ye Lin turned to look at him, his tired and withered heart reviving once more. He took the initiative to embrace Liang Wenle and said softly, “Thank you, Wenle.”
Liang Wenle loved the scent on Ye Lin. It was like finding a white jasmine flower in a pile of abandoned trash, fresh and elegant. He buried his head deep, took several deep breaths, and only then was willing to let go.
The helicopter landed on a private island covered in fields of various colored flowers. In the center was a white European style luxury villa, surrounded by hundreds of orange pink Juliet roses. Each of these roses was worth a fortune. The petals were complex and layered, over 90 of them, all gathering toward the center to present a strangely magnificent and decadent beauty.
Ye Lin could not truly appreciate roses, but he praised them instinctively. “It is so beautiful here.”
Liang Wenle explained proudly, “I worked hard to transplant all these flowers. It took over half a month.”
Rather than roses, Ye Lin wanted the yachts on the sea. He felt those were the gifts every man truly wanted. However, since Liang Wenle promised a yacht, he still had to provide enough emotional value. Ye Lin feigned a look of surprise and joy. “So this is the big surprise you said you were preparing. No one has ever been this good to me. I am truly touched!”
At this moment, many rich second generation heirs popped out to congratulate them on their dating anniversary. They were the atmosphere squad, each dressed meticulously in dark, low key colors so as not to steal the spotlight from the protagonist, Liang Wenle.
Liang Wenle picked Ye Lin up and walked into the villa, with everyone following behind jeering and demanding they kiss. Inside the villa was a large party where everyone was enjoying the revelry. Ye Lin drank some alcohol but was not drunk, obediently staying by Liang Wenle’s side.
Liang Wenle got tipsy and suddenly shouted loudly, “Why can we not get a marriage certificate at 18? I want to marry Ye Lin right now!”
Hearing this, Ye Lin was so startled he nearly dropped his glass, his expression one of shock. Someone laughed, “Oh, Wenle, you are still young. Just play for a few more years.”
Liang Wenle turned to look at Ye Lin and suddenly chuckled. “No, it has to be Ye Lin for the rest of my life. We are getting married tomorrow!”
Someone simply suggested, “Then just get engaged. Have an engagement banquet and move in together, then get the certificate when you reach the legal age. There is not much difference.”
Liang Wenle was enlightened. In this circle, when two families formed an alliance, they would hold an engagement banquet and meet parents and elders from both sides. Nominally it was an engagement, but it was essentially the same as marriage. “Good, good, good. You are smart, kid. We will get engaged! I will go find my parents tomorrow and demand to be engaged to Ye Lin!”
“Then you will have to invite the Ye family. I feel they might be unwilling.”
“How could they be unwilling? As long as I want it, they have to be willing! I want to invite everyone to witness our wedding. Then our wedding will last for three years, and we will have honeymoons everywhere.”
Ye Lin heard him getting more and more exaggerated and could not help but interrupt, “Wenle, are you not still in university? Finish your studies first before thinking about marriage.”
Liang Wenle pulled him into his arms. “What does that matter? Many people get their certificates while in university. Besides, I am in no mood to study. It is so annoying.”
Ye Lin felt that agreeing to an engagement was inappropriate. “But I feel Uncle Liang still wants you to finish school and take over the company before getting married. Let us not do this. He will be angry.”
Liang Wenle gave a disdainful “Tsk.” “What does that old man matter? Opposition is useless as long as my mommy agrees.”
Ye Lin could not talk him out of it, so he could only keep pouring him drinks to make him fall asleep early and stop acting like a drunken fool. Marrying a man, it sounded too absurd. Ye Lin could accept scamming some money in the name of love, but he could not accept an engagement to Liang Wenle.
However, if Liang’s father and mother offered several hundred million to make him leave Liang Wenle, he would be very happy to accept.
In the latter half of the party, most people fell asleep. They were sprawled everywhere in the villa, on toilets, in bathtubs, or even on top of the TV stand. Liang Wenle was taken by Ye Lin to the third floor bedroom, where he fell fast asleep under a thin blanket. Under the bright moonlight, the orange pink roses swayed quietly in the wind, sending a special, calming fragrance.
Ye Lin looked at the moonlight outside the window for a while, habitually lay down beside Liang Wenle, gently poked his nose, and whispered a laugh, “Rich, but so stupid.”
Liang Wenle’s eyelids twitched slightly. He pulled Ye Lin into his arms with a large hand, leaning his forehead against Ye Lin’s and murmuring softly, “Always like me.”
Ye Lin did not dare move. After waiting a while, he also fell asleep.
The sunlight broke through the clouds, and a breeze swept past, causing fine ripples on the sea. These ripples cut the light spots into countless shimmering fragments, like a flowing golden tapestry. The blooming Juliet roses had dreamlike, rich colors, bright but not dazzling, carrying a pleasant warmth.
Liang Wenle woke up and could not take his eyes off Ye Lin beside him. Ye Lin was wearing a bathrobe, and his sleeping posture was terrible. He had actually bent one leg up. A vast expanse of beautiful scenery was laid out before him. Liang Wenle thought about how it had been quite a long time since he had a taste, and his heart itched intensely.
They were the only ones in this room. Most of the others were still sleeping off their drunkenness on the first floor. Liang Wenle acted on the thoughts in his memory and pinched Ye Lin’s chin.
Ye Lin was not awake yet, feeling groggy as if still in a dream. He felt himself arrive in a place filled with thick fog, surrounded by marshland and poisonous insects everywhere. One careless step would mean sinking in. To avoid the swamp, he could only move slowly, avoiding the damp areas and confirming his footing before stepping.
But the next moment, a large venomous snake suddenly emerged. He scared himself into backing away, but the snake struck suddenly, sliding into his throat and blocking everything. It was terrifying. Ye Lin wanted to make a sound, but the snake was huge and occupied his entire oral cavity, trying to burrow inside to devour his internal organs. He could clearly feel the rough scales on the snake’s surface, which would shift from time to time, causing constant torment.
“Mmph!”
His throat was extremely uncomfortable, and the urge to gag was strong. He was about to vomit. Ye Lin tried to throw a punch, wanting to grab the snake by its vitals, but an invisible force locked him down firmly, making it hard to move his arms. Even his legs felt as though they were weighed down by something heavy, unable to kick out. Next, he felt a huge pressure as he fell backward, forced to lie flat while being swallowed whole by this snake.
Ye Lin was in utter despair, feeling like he was about to suffocate to death. But soon, he realized that venomous snakes are cold blooded animals. How could one have such a burning body temperature?
This was not a snake!
At that moment, the dream shattered, and his consciousness finally returned. Ye Lin opened his eyes and saw Liang Wenle hovering over him. He widened his eyes instantly, looking at him in disbelief.
Liang Wenle saw that he was awake and gently touched his cheek. “You are awake.”
Ye Lin wanted to speak, but he could not make a sound. He could only whimper. Liang Wenle laughed. “So cute, like a little mouse.”
Ye Lin really wanted to vomit. Then he felt a powerful sense of pressure and was about to suffocate. Fortunately, Liang Wenle let him go. But he could not open his eyes. He felt like a damp towel was pressing down on them. Liang Wenle grabbed a wet wipe to help him and then leaned in to kiss him.
“Wen, Wenle, no matter what, you cannot take advantage while I am sleeping,” Ye Lin wanted to protest, but he felt something and suddenly let out a soft cry.
“But I just like you so much, so I cannot help myself when I see you sleeping.” Liang Wenle never engaged in self reflection. Instead, he acted shamelessly. He was like a giant koala that insisted on clinging tightly to a tree and refused to come down. But while koalas are lazy, he was extremely industrious.
Ye Lin felt this industry was completely unnecessary because he truly could not handle it so early in the morning. Unfortunately, Liang Wenle loved it and insisted on playing in different ways, flipping him over like a pancake. It was truly helpless.
At first, Ye Lin thought it was fine not to look at Liang Wenle. At least what the eye does not see, the heart does not grieve over. But soon he felt something was wrong and grabbed onto everything soft around him to relieve the pressure.
“Wen, Wenle,”
“What is it? You do not like it?”
“Your friends are all in this villa. This is not good.”
“What is not good about it? They all know you are my boyfriend. Doing this is very normal.”
“But, but no matter what, you cannot… hngh!”
“What are you afraid of? They are not awake anyway. I expect they will sleep until the afternoon.”
Ye Lin felt like he was dying. To make matters worse, the system was still prompting him about his money growth rate. How detestable.
[The host’s current money growth rate is 190,000 per hour. You can continue to break through.]
Break through my foot, you dead system.
Ye Lin gritted his teeth and cursed silently, then suddenly felt Liang Wenle clenching his palm tightly. Following that, he broke down and wanted to cry.
[The host’s current money growth rate is 220,000 per hour!]
Liang Wenle saw Ye Lin crying with the corners of his eyes red. He tilted his chin to kiss him. “Why are you crying?”
Ye Lin did not answer; he just cried. He felt like he was being driven insane. Yet he could not complain, let alone scold or hit him. If it were someone else, especially Shen Shao, he would have scratched them beyond recognition long ago.
“Waaaah, Wenle, Wenle, I, I,”
“What is it? I think you quite like it. So cute.”
Liang Wenle’s heart was filled with immense satisfaction. At this moment, Ye Lin belonged to him alone. He would only cry for him, tremble for him, and only show this kind of expression in front of him. It was truly too captivating. Just thinking about it made him excited.
The sunlight gradually became stronger, and the sea was dazzling. It was nearly noon, and the dew on the rose petals had long since vanished. Ye Lin had no choice but to cry and beg for mercy. “Wen, Wenle, please, I beg you. Do not do this.”
Liang Wenle held him like a doll, kissing his sweat dampened temples. He asked softly, “Don’t what?”
Ye Lin’s shoulders were trembling from crying, and his voice was very soft. “Be, be a bit more gentle with me, waaaaah.”
After hearing this, Liang Wenle showed no sign of remorse. Instead, he wanted to bully him even more, until he was too bullied to speak.
Later, Ye Lin could not even cry anymore and could only rest in his arms. Outside the window, the vast field of roses was blown by the wind, creating large orange pink ripples, the most dreamlike ocean. Nearby, the white curtains were fluttering, like the rhythm of a heartbeat. They were like a newlywed couple on their honeymoon.
Liang Wenle felt the person in his arms and looked at the scene before him, feeling happy and satisfied. He could not help but suggest, “Let us go see my parents today and talk about the engagement.”
He thought it was just drunken nonsense, but he was serious?
Ye Lin, who was about to drift off to sleep, immediately regained his spirit upon hearing this. He quickly refused, “I, I am not going. I think your parents are very scary, especially your dad. He will definitely scold me.”
Liang Wenle laughed. “I will not let him scold you. Let us go.”
Ye Lin shook his head desperately. “Not going. You go by yourself. I will just wait for you at home.”
Liang Wenle had no choice but to tease him, “Coward. Then I will go by myself. You wait at home for my good news.”
Ye Lin nodded and even praised him for being amazing and said he would surely succeed. In reality, he had no hope at all. He looked forward more to Liang’s father scolding Liang Wenle and throwing a check in his face. Then he would happily take the check and leave, never appearing before Liang Wenle again for the rest of his life. Marrying a man was simply impossible!
Just as Shen Shao said, after he reached middle age and became successful in his career, he would still marry and have children. In his later years, as a highly respected elder, he would enjoy the reverence of a crowd of juniors and tease his grandsons and granddaughters along the way. Just thinking about it made Ye Lin feel that life had a goal. It was wonderful.
Liang Wenle pulled a gift box from the side cabinet, took out a ring set with a massive sapphire, and placed it on Ye Lin’s ring finger. He leaned down to kiss it. “This counts as a temporary wedding ring. When we get married later, I will buy a better one.”
The color of this sapphire was rich, its brilliance magnificent, larger than a pigeon’s egg. It was like a star, dazzling and gorgeous. Ye Lin could not appreciate this kind of gemstone ring. He moved his gaze away with some disdain. “Wenle, I think it is better not to wear this ring. Just, just give me cars, yachts, and things like that.”
Liang Wenle was puzzled. “But if you do not wear the ring, who will know you are married?”
Ye Lin tried to argue, “I, I think it is weird for a guy to wear such a large sapphire ring. Let us wear something simpler.”
Liang Wenle looked at him with a dark face, not saying a word. This was completely his way of saying, “I am angry, hurry up and guess why. If you guess wrong, I will never talk to you again!”
Ye Lin was terrified and quickly put the ring on properly. “I, I think it looks quite good. This was specially picked for me by Wenle! It is great, I like it so much! Thank you, Wenle. I will definitely cherish your affection.”
Liang Wenle’s brows smoothed out. “As long as you know. At the engagement banquet, I want everyone to know how happy I am.”
Ye Lin only offered verbal agreement with no actual action. Who knew what the young master was going to cause next? He would wait and see.
