- Chapter 22 - Gu Jiazhi, Are You Calling Me Disgusting?
Taking a bath in the tub at Liang Wenle’s house was very comfortable. With the pleasant fragrance of the bath salts, it was no different from soaking in a hot spring.
Ye Lin had only been soaking for a short while when he heard the door open. To his surprise, Liang Wenle pushed the door open and walked in.
Liang Wenle handed a phone to him. “Why do you have Gu Jiazhi’s contact information, and why are you chatting with him online?”
The phone screen showed only two messages sent by Gu Jiazhi. Fortunately, nothing could be deduced from those two lines. Since he lived with Gu Jiazhi, they rarely chatted online; they communicated in person. Even if there was something to discuss, it was usually handled via a phone call. No specific details were ever sent over the internet.
Moreover, ever since he had been threatened by Sheng Shao’s recording, he had developed a lingering trauma. He regularly deleted chat histories, pictures, and audio files to prevent anyone from threatening him in the future. Sheng Shao had even used a throwaway account to add him, so it should not be easily traced.
Ye Lin unlocked the phone and handed it over for Liang Wenle to inspect. “I met him at the bar before and thought Gu Jiazhi was interesting, so I added him. Our relationship is okay. Wenle, you bought this phone, so feel free to look through it.”
This phone was a recent purchase from Liang Wenle. A quick swipe through the message logs confirmed there was nothing out of line; it was just typical greetings between friends. Ye Lin’s social circle was very narrow, with only a handful of contacts, so there was not much to see. Gu Jiazhi was straight, and he would not engage in ambiguity with Ye Lin.
Furthermore, Ye Lin was being very compliant and willing to let him check the phone.
Liang Wenle handed the phone back with a look of disdain. “Who cares who is in your contacts? But based on Gu Jiazhi’s tone, you must complain about me to him often. Otherwise, why would he ask why you are looking for me again?”
Ye Lin placed the phone aside and said flatteringly, “Because Gu Jiazhi is your best friend, Wenle. He knows what you like and dislike. If I want to please you, I have to ask him. He even told me that you are a very good person and told me to treat you with sincerity.”
There was nothing wrong with that statement. Gu Jiazhi was his closest friend, and if Ye Lin wanted to win Liang Wenle’s heart, his friend’s help was indispensable.
Liang Wenle accepted this answer, and only then did he notice Ye Lin soaking in the hot water. His skin was flushed red and looked delicate and smooth.
Suddenly, Liang Wenle’s cheeks began to burn, and his heart pounded fiercely. As if he had been scalded, he jumped up and backed away, shouting loudly, “You! You take forever to bathe! It is so annoying!”
Ye Lin immediately stood up, anxiously explaining, “Wenle, I will be quick!”
Seeing this, Liang Wenle was so startled that he fled in a panic, even forgetting to close the door. He ran headlong into another room, trying to calm himself down.
“He is sick!” Ye Lin boy muttered under his breath once he was gone, though he kept his volume very low.
He had finally managed to coax this difficult young master. It was truly annoying. It was the first time he had encountered a rich kid like Liang Wenle who was self-important, stupid, irritable, and incredibly pretentious. However, a stupid rich kid was easy to get money from, so he had to make do. If he could save ten years of struggle and live in a big villa, leisurely enjoying a soak in a large bathtub, he was still quite satisfied.
After soaking for a bit longer, Ye Lin changed into his pajamas and returned to the bedroom. Liang Wenle was currently playing with his phone amidst a pile of white and yellow plushies, typing frantically. It was unclear what he was saying.
Ye Lin walked over and asked, “Wenle, can I still accompany you to school tomorrow?”
Liang Wenle quickly turned off his phone screen and looked up at him like a thief with a guilty conscience. “Since you are planning to rest here today, then come along.”
Hearing this, Ye Lin lay down beside him. “Wenle, who were you chatting with just now?”
Liang Wenle instinctively snapped, “None of your business!”
Ye Lin pulled the covers up, hiding half of his face and leaving only his innocent eyes exposed. He apologized softly, “I am sorry.”
Seeing his fluffy, soft hair and his watery, puppy-like eyes, Liang Wenle felt he had been too harsh. He softened his tone and replied, “I was chatting with my cousin. You would not understand anyway.”
Ye Lin immediately pulled down the blanket. The image of Chen Linyu in her yellow dress flashed in his mind. He said in surprise, “Is it that big beauty?”
Liang Wenle was so angry he gave him a punch. “You are not allowed to mention beautiful women from now on, and you definitely cannot go looking for girls! I will be angry!”
Ye Lin was hit in the chest, and his face turned pale with pain. He had to plead for mercy. “Wenle, I was wrong. Stop hitting me, it hurts so much!”
Liang Wenle lay down and leaned over to kiss him, complaining in a low voice, “You deserve it.”
Ye Lin could only go along with him. “Wenle is angry, so I deserve it.”
Liang Wenle felt as if Ye Lin were a teddy bear come to life. He pulled him tightly into his arms and buried his face in the crook of Ye Lin’s neck. Ye Lin smelled very nice, and the cotton pajamas were soft; they were better than the texture of any plush toy. He could not let go.
They resumed their routine of going to school together. Ye Lin continued to play the role of the boyfriend and servant, willingly being ordered around by Liang Wenle while taking meticulous care of him. Many people in the college knew Ye Lin was Liang Wenle’s boyfriend, and it was a frequent topic of discussion. Most remarked that the couple was high-value and quite a good match, while a few felt they should be more mindful of their behavior in public.
Gu Jiazhi was one of those few. He could not stand the small gestures between Liang Wenle and Ye Lin. They were supposed to be in class, yet they would lower their heads to whisper, sitting so close that their foreheads almost touched, smiling brilliantly. Furthermore, they were often seen holding hands in the classroom, the hallway, or on the playground, just like Siamese twins!
Since their last argument, Gu Jiazhi felt he had spoiled Ye Lin too much, which had allowed Ye Lin to walk all over him. So, he intentionally avoided contacting Ye Lin, wanting to leave him hanging for a few more days. Instead, Ye Lin had turned around and run to Liang Wenle, even showing off their affection on social media.
In fact, Ye Lin had not replied to his messages to this day. Their chat history was stuck on a message he had sent five days ago. It was as if Ye Lin had not even seen it. When they met at school, Ye Lin did not even greet him, treating him entirely like air. Ye Lin’s eyes only held Liang Wenle, and he revolved around him twenty four hours a day. They were acting like a couple in the heat of passion; they were holding hands, kissing, living together, and going on dates after making up from a fight.
How was this logical? It should have been him ignoring Ye Lin’s messages. He should have been the one in control. It was Ye Lin who needed him, Ye Lin who should be begging him, not him thinking about Ye Lin.
As Gu Jiazhi thought about it, he almost snapped the pen in his hand. Then, the familiar sound of playful banter reached his ears.
“Wenle, Wenle, look at me!” “Hahaha! You are so funny, like a little pig!” “As long as Wenle is happy, I will be your little pig.” “Ye Lin, lean closer.”
Liang Wenle lowered his head and was about to go in for a kiss. He was already very practiced and could easily capture Ye Lin’s weak spots. But just as they made contact, a loud crash echoed.
Bang!
It was during the break, and everyone in the classroom was startled, turning their gaze toward Gu Jiazhi. He had forcefully kicked over the desk in front of him and cursed, “Disgusting!”
Ye Lin looked at Gu Jiazhi in confusion, curious why he had suddenly lost his temper to the point of kicking over a desk. Liang Wenle knew him too well. This was clearly a case of pointing at the mulberry tree to curse the locust, which was an indirect insult. He stood up and questioned, “Gu Jiazhi, are you calling me disgusting?”
This time, Gu Jiazhi was in no mood to hide. He turned to look at him, accusing him from a moral high ground. “Otherwise? This is a public place. Do you think you are in the right?”
Everyone was stunned, looking at them in disbelief. These two friends were very close. Gu Jiazhi usually deferred to Liang Wenle and would never say anything sarcastic.
Liang Wenle also could not believe Gu Jiazhi would say such a thing to him. He froze for a moment before responding, “I think I am perfectly in the right! No one else has a problem with it; only you do!”
The young master was habitually unreasonable. He did not care what others thought and always did as he pleased. Naturally, he would not back down now.
Gu Jiazhi walked up to Liang Wenle, pointed at his forehead, and snapped, “Liang Wenle, do you really think the classroom is your home? This is a place for learning!”
Liang Wenle’s gaze was contemptuous. “That is right! If I wanted to, I could buy the entire school tomorrow!”
Seeing the sparks fly and a fight about to break out, some classmates tried to intervene. Ye Lin did not want things to escalate either, so he stood between the two and tried to persuade Liang Wenle first. “Wenle, Gu Jiazhi is straight. It is normal for him to find this hard to handle. Do not hold it against him.”
Liang Wenle refused to show weakness. “If he cannot handle it, he can get lost! He insists on sitting next to us, so he deserves it!”
Gu Jiazhi kicked a chair again. “Liang Wenle, do you realize how ridiculous you are right now? You are so obsessed with this kind of trash that you have lost your mind. You will regret it later.”
Liang Wenle said helplessly, “Are you sick? Why are you always trying to drive a wedge between Ye Lin and me!”
Ye Lin nodded in agreement, trying to lighten the mood with a joke. “Exactly! If I did not know better, I would think you liked Wenle! Suddenly having a fit!”
Gu Jiazhi choked at those words. “You think I like him?”
The surrounding murmurs grew louder, mostly analyzing the relationship between the three, even suspecting a love triangle. Gu Jiazhi finally realized the importance of his reputation. He left the classroom like a whirlwind, not wanting to see the couple for a second longer.
The heavy atmosphere finally dissipated, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Liang Wenle and Gu Jiazhi had a friendship spanning over a decade. Even if they argued, he would not hold a grudge. He simply assumed his brother was having a fit from being single too long. He paid for the damaged desk and chair and gave every student present a 50,000 yuan red envelope as an apology. After receiving the red envelopes, no one cared about Liang Wenle’s behavior anymore; they even wished him and Ye Lin a long and happy life.
Ye Lin had truly witnessed the power of being rich and willful, and he desired Liang Wenle’s money more than ever. However, because of his standoff with Gu Jiazhi, his Hunger Value had accumulated quite a bit. He had to find someone else to clear it.
Liang Wenle was a candidate; after all, he was decent looking. But currently, Liang Wenle was still stuck at the stage of holding hands and kissing, with no intention of going deeper, which made things difficult.
In fact, he felt very comfortable with Gu Jiazhi, and he was curious about the feeling of being the one on top. Liang Wenle was naive and easy to trick. He should be able to pin him down and taste what it was like to be in control.
That evening, back at the villa, they sat together watching a movie as usual. When the mood grew romantic, they would kiss. Ye Lin had a sudden idea. He grabbed Liang Wenle’s hand, leaned into his ear, and whispered, “Wenle, do you want to do that kind of thing?”
Liang Wenle had learned about various activities between couples, and during their kisses these past few days, he had wanted more. But he always felt it was too fast, so he had been waiting. He did not expect Ye Lin to be the one to bring it up first. His cheeks turned burning hot. “Wha—what thing?”
Seeing his plan succeed, Ye Lin felt smug. Since the young master did not understand, he had his chance.
“Wenle, close your eyes first.”
