After the Simp Omega Comes to His Senses, the Alpha Panics - Chapter 8
Wen Yuluo felt an inexplicable sense of unease, frequently glancing toward the operating room, but he could not see a thing.
Right at that moment, Zilan cried out while holding her phone.
Attracting his attention, Wen Yuluo asked, “What is wrong?”
Zilan raised her head from her screen and said, “Zhou Lin got into a car accident on Yanqiao Road and is being rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.”
“?”
Wen Yuluo frowned, subconsciously repeating Zilan’s words. “Yanqiao Road. Isn’t Yanqiao Road right near this hospital?”
Zilan felt a chill run down the back of her neck. “Then could Zhou Lin possibly be undergoing emergency surgery at this hospital?”
Realizing something, Wen Yuluo blurted out, “What blood type is Zhou Lin?”
Since Zilan worked at the Zhou Corporation, she was quite sensitive to her employer’s relatives. She immediately pulled up the internal records, looking at Zhou Lin’s profile, which read:
[Zhou Lin, Male, Omega, Type A Blood]
“Type A.”
So the blood bags that had not been used for Grandma yet had been reassigned to Zhou Lin?
Blood rushed to Wen Yuluo’s head. “It is Zhou Lin again.”
If Grandma didn’t end up needing those blood bags, it would be one thing, but if she needed them…
His thoughts stopped right there as the door to the operating room opened.
Wen Yuluo instinctively looked at the “In Surgery” light above the doorframe.
It was still lit.
He hurriedly asked the doctor coming out, “How is it, Doctor? My grandmother?”
“The patient is experiencing massive bleeding, and her condition is not looking promising. Family members should prepare themselves.”
Wen Yuluo paused, unable to stop himself from falling backward.
With sharp eyes, Zilan caught him. “Yubao! Calm down.”
After regaining his footing, Wen Yuluo’s limbs refused to obey him. He grabbed the doctor’s collar and roared with red eyes, “Did I not tell you that my grandmother has a coagulation disorder? Why did you transfer the blood bags without authorization?”
The doctor was at a loss. It was an order from above, and as an ordinary physician, what could he possibly do?
“Yubao!”
Zilan remained completely calm. “Do not blame anyone right now. We need to figure out a way to get the taken blood bags back immediately.”
“Right, right.” Wen Yuluo’s breathing was constricted, and his brain had crashed, leaving him unable to come up with any ideas. “How do we get them back?”
Using her connections within the company chat, Zilan asked around to find out which floor Zhou Lin’s operating room was on. Obtaining the exact information, she grabbed Wen Yuluo and rushed into the elevator.
The operating room wasn’t hard to find. After turning a corner in the hallway, Zilan spotted the chairman of the Zhou Corporation.
He stood with his hands on his hips, sighing deeply as he paced back and forth outside the operating room.
Zilan said to Wen Yuluo, “That is the chairman of the Zhou Corporation, Zhou Zeyi.”
Time was running out. Without time to overthink, Wen Yuluo walked over to Zhou Zeyi.
He tried his best to keep his tone calm as he said, “Chairman Zhou, hello.”
Zhou Zeyi looked at Wen Yuluo with a puzzled expression. “Who are you?”
Wen Yuluo spoke in a jumbled rush. “It is like this, Chairman Zhou. I know your nephew is inside undergoing emergency treatment, but he is using the blood bags that were reserved in advance for my grandmother. The Zhou family is wealthy and powerful, so could you please not compete with us commoners?”
Zhou Zeyi’s attitude turned hostile. “Are you out of your damn mind? What did I grab from your grandmother? Aren’t blood bags meant for whoever has the emergency? Hurry up and get out of here! My nephew is still in the operating room!”
Composing her thoughts, Zilan stepped in front of Wen Yuluo to shield him. “Chairman Zhou, what he means is that Young Master Zhou is young and blessed with great fortune. He will definitely be fine. I just checked the news, and Young Master Zhou’s injuries are not particularly severe. He will surely hold out until a new batch of blood bags arrives. But Chairman Zhou, his grandmother cannot wait any longer. His grandmother has…”
Before Zilan could finish her sentence, Zhou Zeyi changed the subject. “Zilan, it is you?”
Zilan hadn’t expected the company chairman to remember her, and she nodded with a sense of apprehension. “It is me.”
“Why are you not at work, making a mess here instead?”
Stunned by those words, Zilan was left speechless. Stammering as she searched her mind, a thought suddenly struck her, and she dragged Wen Yuluo into the adjacent hospital room.
The room was empty. Panicking, Zilan said, “It is useless, Yuluo. You need to call Crown Prince Qi You right now and have him figure something out. Zhou Zeyi is notorious for spoiling his nephew, so there is no way he will yield the blood to Grandma. But Crown Prince Qi You is different. He has a powerful background, and in Yancheng, no enterprise dares to disregard the Qi family’s face.”
Wen Yuluo parted his lips slightly, struggling to breathe. “Qi You will not help me.”
Qi You didn’t even know he had a grandmother, and explaining that situation would be very complicated.
“This is a matter of life and death!” Zilan urged anxiously. “Even if he does not like you, he cannot just stand by and watch someone die, right?”
Awakened by her words, Wen Yuluo hurriedly took out his phone to call Qi You.
He called three times in a row, but every call went straight to automatic hang-up with no response.
Biting her lip, Zilan offered an idea. “Call his secretary!”
Wen Yuluo quickly found Wang Ran’s number and dialed it, but still received no response.
“What should we do, Zilan?”
Zilan’s eyes turned red with helplessness. “Damn Qi You.” She shouted, “Yubao, I used to work as a secretary. A secretary’s phone must remain turned on twenty-four hours a day, and they cannot miss a single call. If even his secretary will not answer your phone, then his boss must have given him specific instructions.”
Wen Yuluo understood immediately.
It was Qi You who had ordered Wang Ran not to answer his calls.
At that very moment, his heart felt as though it were being repeatedly stabbed and twisted by a blunt knife, the pain causing his chest to heave violently.
Growing frantic, Wen Yuluo realized Grandma was still on the operating table, and he simply had no more time to wallow in pain.
He pushed open the hospital room door, dropped to his knees right in front of Zhou Zeyi with a loud thud, grabbed the hem of his trench coat, and pleaded, “Chairman Zhou. I am begging you. I am begging you. I cannot live without my grandmother. Show some mercy. Please show some mercy.”
Standing behind him, Zilan watched Wen Yuluo humble himself so completely, her tears falling uncontrollably. “Yubao.”
Zhou Zeyi was also stunned. Lowering his head to gaze at the tear-streaked omega, a trace of pity stirred within him.
Just as he was about to speak, the operating room door swung open. A nurse emerged, looked at the scene in momentary shock, and then announced, “The patient is out of danger.”
Coming to his senses, Zhou Zeyi said, “Oh, then quickly give the extra blood bags to his grandmother so we do not delay anything.”
The nurse acted swiftly, rushing back into the operating room to retrieve them.
When the three of them arrived without a moment’s rest at the floor of Wen Meng’s operating room, the light above the door had already gone out. The chief surgeon was covered in blood, having not even had time to take off his protective suit, and stood staring blankly while supporting himself against the wall.
Wen Yuluo’s brain buzzed, driving him to the brink of madness.
Looking at him, the chief surgeon wore an expression of guilt and unspeakable sorrow. “We did our best.”
Spinning into a dizzy blur, Wen Yuluo felt as though his soul had been pulled right out of his body. His breathing came in uneven gasps, as if suffering from severe oxygen deprivation. Though he tried desperately to tell himself to hold on, he ultimately failed to last long enough to catch one last glimpse of his grandmother, collapsing onto the cold corridor floor.
Before losing consciousness entirely, he heard Zilan scream at the top of her lungs. “Yubao!”
This freezing cold was something he had never experienced in all twenty-six years of his life.
Is this what it feels like to die?
How wonderful.
