Wen Li patted her shoulder lightly. “Hey, you’re crushing me. Get up.”
“No.” Ying Ning closed her eyes and leaned in harder.
Wen Li braced herself against the table behind her to keep from toppling. “You.”
“I’m not a child.” Ying Ning lifted her head, leaning in close. “I’m the same age as Pei Jiuyao.”
Wen Li chuckled. “I’m ten years older than you. Still think you’re not a child?”
“Just because of that?” Ying Ning pressed.
Wen Li smiled lazily. “Because of what else?”
“Is it because I’m younger that you won’t go public with me?” Ying Ning leaned in closer. “I’m not that young anymore. I’m already of legal age to get married.”
Wen Li bent forward to kiss the corner of her lips, laughing softly. “Don’t tell me you actually want to marry me?”
“Of course I want to marry you.” Ying Ning lowered her eyes. “We’ve been together a whole year. Why aren’t we married yet?”
Wen Li paused, pulling a wry smile. “We’ve only been together for a year.”
“I wanted to marry you a year ago.” Ying Ning hesitated, then added, “Actually, I’ve wanted to marry you for years.”
Wen Li sighed. “You’re too young. You haven’t seen anything, haven’t dated anyone. In the future, you might—”
“I won’t.” Ying Ning’s eyes darkened in an instant.
She grabbed Wen Li, lifted her onto the table, and braced her arms on either side of Wen Li’s legs. That half-mixed face wore its usual lazy, unconcerned expression—something that irritated Ying Ning more than she could explain.
Ying Ning leaned in and bit Wen Li’s lips—hard. Blood welled up immediately.
Wen Li pushed her away and wiped her mouth. Seeing the smear of red on her hand, she still laughed. “Brat. What are you being so vicious for?”
“You don’t believe me,” Ying Ning said coldly.
Wen Li sighed. “Alright, alright. I believe you.”
“Liar.”
Wen Li truly had no way to handle her. When had the little sister she raised turned into something so stubborn and intense?
She exhaled lightly, leaned in, and kissed Ying Ning’s lips. Ying Ning automatically parted her mouth.
Wen Li slipped her tongue in. Wet sounds tangled in the small space, her soft tongue sliding like a serpent, stirring Ying Ning’s mouth and grazing her teeth—an expert’s kiss, skillful and consuming.
Ying Ning’s breathing turned unsteady, but she still pressed Wen Li down, unwilling to let go.
Not until Wen Li pushed at her shoulder and pinched the back of her neck. “Breathe.”
Only then did Ying Ning rest her forehead on Wen Li’s shoulder to catch her breath.
“You never come back,” Ying Ning muttered, tugging at Wen Li’s belt. “I want you.”
“Here?”
“There’s a resting room inside.” Ying Ning looked up, eyes tinged with red. “Why not?”
This little brat, she really does look like she wants to eat her alive.
Forget it. She’s the Alpha here—trouble comes with the position.
Wen Li tapped Ying Ning’s cheek. “Then carry me in.”
Ying Ning huffed quietly, scooped her up, and brought her into the small break room. Inside was only a narrow folding bed and a table and chair. She leaned down to kiss Wen Li again—more biting than kissing, messy and unpracticed.
Wen Li, breathless, grabbed Ying Ning’s nape and pulled her back. Ying Ning looked at her, bewildered.
Using the momentary space, Wen Li kicked off the item caught at her ankle. “Slow down. Are you planning to eat me whole?”
“Oh.” Ying Ning lowered her head again, this time kissing her gently, pecking, exploring. She slowly slipped her tongue in, and under Wen Li’s guidance, she found a bit of rhythm—hooking Wen Li’s tongue and teasing it.
Her fingers traced along Wen Li’s cheek; her other hand braced beside Wen Li’s waist.
Soon, Wen Li’s whole body softened, her eyes turning unfocused.
She didn’t bother hiding her desire. Her naturally languid voice was now low and muffled, tinged with restraint—something that made Ying Ning’s heart itch even more.
“Is this okay?” Ying Ning whispered.
“Mmh, it’s fine.” When Wen Li rested her head on Ying Ning’s shoulder, Ying Ning couldn’t resist biting the back of her neck.
Not being able to mark Wen Li was something that tortured Ying Ning deeply. Still, she forced herself to restrain her strength, only brushing her canines lightly along Wen Li’s skin, terrified of hurting her.
Time blurred. Sweat beaded at Ying Ning’s nose and dripped down; even her hands were damp.
Wen Li called her name—“Ying Ning”—and with a few soft sounds, collapsed onto the bed, her face flushed scarlet.
Ying Ning lifted her hand and stared curiously at the slickness on her fingers.
Wen Li, panting, rested a moment. Seeing Ying Ning staring at the liquid, her cheeks turned red—but she still teased, nudging Ying Ning’s waist with her foot. “What? Never seen it before?”
“But this is yours.” Ying Ning looked again, then leaned down to lick a tiny bit with her tongue.
“What are you.” Wen Li’s face went utterly crimson.
Ying Ning pulled out a tissue and wiped her hand clean. Bracing her arms on either side of Wen Li, she said with perfect seriousness, “It’s sweet.”
“You.” Wen Li’s eyes darted away. “You Alphas really come with strange talents.”
Ying Ning pulled the blanket over Wen Li and lifted her into her arms. After a long rest, she asked, “Pei Jiuyao and Yangyang.”
“So, you know Chi Yang went to film that variety show?”
Ying Ning nodded.
Wen Li relaxed against her and drawled, “They’re fine. Don’t worry. I saw it ages ago—those two? They’ll never break up. Pure, textbook love-brain pair.”
“And marriage?” Ying Ning asked.
“Can you drop it?”
Ying Ning lowered her gaze and pressed her lips together.
Wen Li tapped her cheek. “Alright. Marriage isn’t something you arrange in a day.”
Ying Ning’s eyes brightened. “So, you’re agreeing?”
Wen Li coughed lightly and changed the subject. “Did you look into that medicine I asked you about?”
“Oh—I forgot. You mailed it, right? I haven’t opened the package yet.” Ying Ning rubbed the bridge of her nose. “I’ll open it in a bit.”
That night, after returning home from the hospital, Pei Jiuyao received a message from Chi Yang:
【How’s Bai Zhi?】
Pei Jiuyao washed up briefly and collapsed onto her bed, replying:
【Got in a fight with her sister. Broke an arm.】
FoxEarsToday:
【Didn’t she normally get along with her sister?】
【Who knows. I’m not dealing with it. I’m home now.】
FoxEarsToday:
【She didn’t give you a hard time, did she?】
【Of course not. Worst case, she treats me like a tool—fetching tea, bringing water. What did you do today?】
Silence lingered on the screen before Chi Yang finally replied:
【Nothing much. I just kept thinking about you.】
Pei Jiuyao typed back:
【Don’t worry. I’ll be back soon.】
After setting her phone aside, Pei Jiuyao tugged at her collar, restless.
She gulped down a full glass of cold water and lay back down.
The glands at the back of her neck were burning, refusing to settle.
Could it be her susceptibility period really came early?
