- Chapter 7 - Maybe You Should Hit Me a Few Times. Should I Strip Now, or Exchange Pleasantries First?
When the Special Assistant informed Long Yin that Yue Mingcang had arrived, Long Yin happened to be in the middle of an online meeting with the senior executives of White Dragon Shipping.
Upon receiving the news, Long Yin immediately announced that the meeting would be rescheduled and logged off, leaving a crowd of bewildered executives in his wake.
Although he did not explicitly say he wanted to see Yue Mingcang, his attitude was, to say the least, very obvious.
The Special Assistant, believing he fully understood his boss’s intentions, eagerly led Yue Mingcang to the reception room and subsequently notified Long Yin that the guest had arrived.
Long Yin had changed into a white suit at some point. He was currently adjusting his hairstyle in front of a mirror. Hearing the news, he replied with an impatient tone:
“I am so busy; is he someone who can see me just because he wants to? Tell him to wait.”
Special Assistant: “?”
After finishing his hair, Long Yin started the printer and began printing documents.
For the next hour, the printer did not stop once. The documents it spat out quickly piled up into a small mountain.
Taking advantage of the printer’s hard work, Long Yin picked a watch from the winder, put it on in front of the mirror, and then took a bottle of fine red wine and two glasses from the wine cabinet.
The Special Assistant could not understand his boss’s confusing behavior at all. However, out of professional duty, he still stepped forward to aerate the wine for his boss.
Long Yin raised a hand to block the Special Assistant’s kindness: “There is no need to aerate it. Only wine that has not been breathed can make him recognize his status.”
” ”
The Special Assistant looked down at the top-tier red wine, valued at over a million, and fell into silence.
He could not quite figure out what status the boss wanted Yue Mingcang to recognize with this bottle of wine.
To take a step back, when a benefactor deals with an ignorant little lover, perhaps, maybe, there is a chance they would indeed make things difficult like this.
But was Yue Mingcang an ignorant little lover?
Back during the time when Lord Long was in power, he already knew of Yue Mingcang.
This rising star of Longmen Port was quick-witted and aggressive in his methods. He did not follow the rules, but he was certainly not an unrefined nouveau riche.
He could be one hundred percent certain that as long as his boss gave a hint, Yue Mingcang would kneel and lick the boss’s shoes.
There was even a possibility that Yue Mingcang had wanted to kneel and lick his shoes for a long time, but simply had not found the right opportunity.
If the boss did not like Yue Mingcang, he could just refuse to see him. Conversely, if the boss liked Yue Mingcang—was there even a need for a “what if”? A bottle of wine worth a million had been brought out. If that was not called liking someone, then what was?
So, here was the question.
Since both of them seemed to be “mutually willing” no matter how you looked at it, what exactly was the boss trying to achieve by going through all this effort?
Long Yin placed the red wine and glasses under the table, checked his radiant appearance in the mirror one last time, then picked up a document and said to the Special Assistant:
“I accidentally worked for so long. He must be tired of waiting. Go see if he is still there. If he is, bring him in.”
A meeting was definitely necessary. The purpose of his frantic work and territorial expansion during this period was precisely to compress the living space of Longmen Port and force Yue Mingcang to come and beg him.
Opportunities to meet were too precious; each one could not be wasted. Therefore, he intentionally ignored Yue Mingcang for a while to make him physically and mentally exhausted and unable to bear the humiliation during the wait, all to increase his “Shame Value” a bit more.
Everything was under his control.
Special Assistant: ” ”
Was there a possibility that Yue Mingcang was sitting in the large sofa of the reception hall, drinking tea and eating melon seeds, not tired at all?
The tired person was him; he was the one who accompanied Long Yin while standing for an hour.
Although he felt incredibly frustrated, the Special Assistant ultimately swallowed his anger when he thought of his salary, which far exceeded the industry standard. He smiled and said, “Very well, boss.”
While the Special Assistant went to call the guest, Long Yin picked up Little White from the floor and placed him on the desk.
In a moment, he would use many methods to bully Yue Mingcang. He needed Little White to broadcast the increase in Shame Value to him in real-time. That way, he would know which method was the most effective.
Little White: [Understood, Great Host! I guarantee the mission will be completed, woof! By the way, Great Host, why did you change your clothes, woof?]
Long Yin: [Heh heh. Fine clothes make the man. White makes one look more like a villain.]
Little White: [Why does white make one look more like a villain, woof?]
Long Yin: [That is a long story. It has to do with my race. I will tell you slowly when I have time.]
Yue Mingcang truly did not expect that Long Yin would be willing to see him.
He did not wish to contact Long Yin through his grandmother’s channels. Having traveled the world for so many years, the kindness he had received could be counted on one hand. He truly could not bear to exploit such a precious treasure.
With little hope but sincere words, he had sent a message to the second assistant to inquire about the appointment process. Unexpectedly, after some back and forth, he actually managed to get an appointment.
During the hour he waited in the reception room, Yue Mingcang felt as if he were sitting on pins and needles. Every second, he feared the Special Assistant would walk through the door and tell him that Long Yin had changed his mind again and did not want to see him.
Fortunately, the news he received was good.
Yue Mingcang followed behind the Special Assistant and walked through the door of the office with a heart full of expectation. The next second:
His vision went black.
Literally, his vision went black.
It was brightly lit outside, but inside it was so dark that he could not see his own hand in front of his face.
Yue Mingcang turned back to look for the Special Assistant who had brought him in, only to find the person was already gone and the door was closed.
The Special Assistant was not stupid.
Seeing that all the lights in the office were off and even the curtains of the floor-to-ceiling windows were drawn tight, he immediately closed the door and left, demonstrating extremely high professional quality.
The Special Assistant was gone. For what happened next, Yue Mingcang could only rely on himself.
Yue Mingcang did not understand why Long Yin did not turn on the lights, but he did not dare to ask. He tried hard to adapt for a long time and finally adjusted to the darkness in the room. He saw Long Yin sitting behind the desk.
This time, there were no grapes or peanuts on the desk. There were only stacks of documents and a white plush hand-warmer.
Behind Long Yin was the floor-to-ceiling window. Although the curtains were drawn, a little bit of dim light still seeped through the gaps, falling on his shoulders like stardust and covering him in a holy, thin veil.
He sat there upright: quiet, silent, and beautiful, like an angel under the night sky.
People are prone to wild thoughts when they are flustered. At this moment, the words of Yue Yuling kept echoing in Yue Mingcang’s mind:
“Hook up first, then get the money.”
Yue Mingcang had not even expected a meeting, let alone what would follow.
And now, setting aside the matter of borrowing money, was this dark environment and the deliberate arrangement of two men alone together exactly what he thought it was?
If it was, would it be better for him to take off his clothes now, or would it be better to exchange a few pleasantries before stripping?
Yue Mingcang hesitated for a long time but finally decided to exchange a few pleasantries first: “Young Master Long, regarding the matter with Grandmother, I must thank you.”
Long Yin raised a hand to interrupt him: “There is no need to speak hollow words in front of me. I already reminded you during our last meeting. State your purpose directly.”
Yue Mingcang stammered, “I, you. Could the consortium lend me some money for turnover? I promise that within half a year, I will return the principal with interest.”
Once those words were out, Yue Mingcang wanted to slap himself.
Who borrows money like this? Without any background information, he just brought up money right away. Was he borrowing money or being provocative?
The silver-tongued skills he used in front of outsiders could not be used at all when facing Long Yin.
He felt as if he had returned to being eighteen years old: raw and clumsy. He wished he could dig out his sincere heart, yet he worried it would be too bloody and would scare the person in front of him.
“Very well,” Long Yin said.
Yue Mingcang: “!?”
Was it that easy?
Amidst the joy, for some reason, Yue Mingcang felt a little bit of disappointment.
He agreed to lend the money right away. In other words, was there no step involving taking off his clothes?
Long Yin emphasized, “I already agreed to the matter of lending money last time. You were the one who tried to scam me before getting the money, which messed up my rhythm.”
Yue Mingcang: ” ”
He could not tell if it was his imagination, but he felt that Long Yin repeatedly emphasized “scamming” as if to stress that he himself was not in the wrong.
But Long Yin was not in the wrong to begin with; what was there to emphasize?
He was the one in the wrong, and he was indeed scamming Long Yin.
From their first meeting until now, Long Yin had already helped him several times. Not only had he failed to provide any return to Long Yin, but he actually had to continue borrowing money from him.
Sigh, he simply was not human.
The more Yue Mingcang thought about it, the more uncomfortable he felt. He could not help but blurt out, “Maybe you should hit me a few times. Otherwise, I will not feel at ease taking this money.”
Long Yin squinted suspiciously at Yue Mingcang and said coldly, “You certainly have self-awareness.”
Yue Mingcang nodded with a red face and smiled shyly.
Long Yin: “I was not praising you.”
Yue Mingcang quickly put away the smile on his face.
Long Yin crossed his hands and asked with his chin raised, “How much do you want to borrow?”
Yue Mingcang thought for a moment and said a number that was more than double the amount the bank was able but unwilling to lend them.
He knew the Long Family Consortium very well. It was completely unnecessary to be polite with Long Yin regarding money.
The important thing was not the money, but Long Yin’s attitude.
As expected, Long Yin did not express any opinion on the amount of money. He simply nodded casually. Yue Mingcang even suspected that Long Yin had not heard clearly what the number was.
Immediately after, Long Yin reached out a large hand, picked up a bottle of red wine and two glasses from under the table, then pushed aside the pile of documents on the desk and placed the wine on it. He held an empty wine glass and said to Yue Mingcang in a flippant tone:
“Do you know how to pour wine?”
“I do.”
Yue Mingcang quickly stepped forward, opened the red wine with practiced movements, and carefully poured it for Long Yin.
Long Yin swirled the glass and said gloomily, “Finish the wine, take the money.”
Yue Mingcang did not hesitate for a second and nodded eagerly.
Long Yin: “?”
In the restricted novels he knew, at a time like this, the protagonist usually would have already splashed wine on him.
How could Yue Mingcang still be nodding?
Long Yin gritted his teeth and decided to use his ultimate move.
With a very skillful twist of his wrist, the wine glass in his hand tilted in a certain direction, splashing half of the liquid onto Yue Mingcang’s chest.
The red wine liquid dyed the white shirt on Yue Mingcang’s chest red, slowly sliding down along his full muscles.
Long Yin raised his eyebrows high, his tone full of provocation: “Oh, I am sorry. My hand slipped.”
