- Chapter 13 - Truth After Drinks: You Cannot Trust a Drunkard
When he burst into the room, Yue Mingcang had indeed harbored a sliver of hope that tonight might offer an opportunity for physical intimacy with Long Yin.
And now, after a bout of absurd tossing and turning, he had actually gotten his wish. He was sprawled in Long Yin’s arms, hands looped around the man’s neck, teeth sinking into the fabric of Long Yin’s shoulder, leaving dark stains on the snowy white shirt.
Long Yin was an exceptionally bright student.
He understood everything with a single hint and could infer the rest. One only needed to teach him the simplest step, and he would figure out the rest on his own. The student was too talented, which was a hardship for Yue Mingcang, who was acting as both the teacher and the teaching aid.
“Whew, um, do you, do you like it, like this?”
Clinging to Long Yin’s broad shoulders, Yue Mingcang asked the question buried deep in his heart in broken fragments. Unfortunately, Long Yin was so focused on the task at hand that he could not hear a word.
What echoed in Long Yin’s ears was another, much louder sound:
Little White: [Shame Value +1, Total Shame Value: 21] Little White: [Shame Value +1, Total Shame Value: 22] ” ” Little White: [Shame Value +1, Total Shame Value: 26]
The fifteenth grape encountered an obstacle. Long Yin tested it for a long while before finally pushing it in with undeniable force.
Yue Mingcang threw his head back, his gasps carrying a hint of a sob. Once the floodgates opened, the tears would not stop. They fell trembling onto Long Yin’s shoulder, soaking a large patch of his clothes.
The cold sensation helped Long Yin sober up slightly. He set aside the remaining grapes and slowly patted Yue Mingcang on the back.
The work of a villain was truly difficult. One had to bully the protagonist without actually breaking them; otherwise, the system would issue a warning. Fortunately, his skills were top tier, especially when it came to comforting people. From eighty year old seniors to three year old toddlers, there was no one he could not soothe.
However, compared to ordinary people, a protagonist was indeed much more troublesome to coax.
Long Yin looked at the Destiny Qi before him with drunken eyes, looking like a starving beast spotting a piece of fat meat inside a trap: he craved it immensely, yet did not dare take a bite.
When a protagonist’s emotions fluctuate wildly, the dissipation of Destiny Qi becomes extraordinary. Right now, Yue Mingcang’s Destiny Qi was practically lunging at Long Yin as if it had eyes, making it impossible to dodge.
Destiny Qi was not useful to all role players, but Long Yin truly needed it. Under normal circumstances, trying to siphon Destiny Qi would not only be stopped immediately by the system but would also trigger a warning. But right now, the system was shielded and could not identify the violation. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Long Yin carefully extended the tip of his tongue, snatched a small piece of Destiny Qi from Yue Mingcang, and swallowed it gently.
It was so sweet, sweet enough to make one’s heart and mind feel refreshed. If only he could have a bite like this every day, how wonderful that would be.
If Long Yin was originally just dizzy from the alcohol, then after that swallow of Destiny Qi, his last bit of clarity began to vanish. Even speaking became difficult:
“Alright, that is, that is enough for today. There is a restroom in the private room. You, you go.”
After a long silence, an extremely deep intake of breath came from his shoulder: “Why? Why do you always, always treat me”
Long Yin shook his head and sighed.
The poor protagonist had been bullied into a state of total confusion. He was the villain, and his mission was to humiliate the protagonist. Regardless of whether he wanted to or not, he had to do it.
A second before Long Yin could speak, Yue Mingcang, having recovered slightly, finished his sentence:
“Always treat me so well?”
Long Yin: “?”
He must have misheard. Yes, it must be because he had drunk too much and was so intoxicated that he was hallucinating, hearing “bad” as “good.”
Long Yin quickly convinced himself and said to himself, “Our grievances. Your father, my father, back then they were”
“Do you like me?” Yue Mingcang asked.
Long Yin: “?”
How strange. How did they jump from the previous topic to this question? Were they not discussing the grievances of the previous generation and the love-hate of this one?
Long Yin shook his head, trying to clear his mind. He was halfway through the motion when he was suddenly yanked up by a massive force.
Yue Mingcang grabbed Long Yin’s collar and shook him up and down indignantly, enunciating every word: “Do. You. Like. Me?”
Long Yin: ” ”
Yue Mingcang said resentfully, “Speak, or I will take you right now!”
Those words were truly heart-wrenching to say.
Long Yin had made so many movements that he had misunderstood and given him so many hints that something could happen. Yet, when he had messily torn away the last shred of his dignity, Long Yin still sat there perfectly dressed. There was no lust in his eyes, no physical reaction from his body. He looked at him as if he were watching a cat perform a backflip.
He did not even know if he was doing something right or wrong. What exactly did he need to do? What else could he even do? When would this pure, innocent, white clad tyrant finally cast a gaze of desire toward him?
Under Yue Mingcang’s predatory gaze, Long Yin admitted dizzily, “I like you.”
How could he not like a handsome male lead wrapped in Destiny Qi? No one would like him more than he did.
Unfortunately, his White Dragon race was not liked anywhere they went, especially not by protagonists carrying Destiny Qi. No matter how much he liked Yue Mingcang, Yue Mingcang would not like him. Yue Mingcang would only despise him as described in the original work. Before long, he would make him go bankrupt, leave him in debt, and throw him onto the streets.
As a White Dragon, he had long been used to such treatment. From that perspective, he was indeed more suited to playing the unlikable villain boss than a “passerby top.”
Yue Mingcang stared blankly at Long Yin, finding this overly straightforward answer unbelievable. He stared at Long Yin’s face for a long time, trying to see something in that drunken, alluring expression.
So it was not his unrequited imagination. Long Yin really liked him? Were these Long Yin’s true feelings?
Yes, it had to be. People say the truth comes out after drinking, so these must be Long Yin’s true feelings!
Yue Mingcang’s heart pounded wildly. He pressed on urgently and nervously, “Since you like me, why have you been targeting me all this time?”
Long Yin’s eyes widened, and his grievances made his speech much clearer: “When did I ever target you? I was helping you!”
Everything a villain did was for the development of the protagonist. How could it be called targeting? To help a young eagle learn to fly, the mother eagle would push it off a cliff. He had simply done something similar!
Yue Mingcang: ” ”
The words were not wrong. Though the method was a bit strange, Long Yin truly had been helping him all along. From birth until now, even from his own parents, he had never received such immense support.
“Since you also like me, then do you want to”
Halfway through the sentence, Yue Mingcang’s business intuition suddenly kicked in. A second later, he forced himself to swallow the words “go to bed” and changed it to a more advantageous condition: “Do you want to marry me?”
“What, what, marriage? No, no marriage! Your, your career is not even developed yet. How can you consider romance? No, you are not allowed to marry. I do not agree!”
Long Yin was drunk to the point of bubbling and could not hear what Yue Mingcang was saying clearly. But hearing the word “marriage,” he instantly felt as if he were facing a great enemy, his heart burning with anxiety.
The original work was a story with no romantic interest; the career line was the main plot. If the protagonist became hopelessly immersed in love, would the plot not go off track? He had collected Shame Value so smoothly; he could not let things crash because of this!
Yue Mingcang: ” ”
Although he expected Long Yin to disagree, he truly did not expect that the reason for the refusal was not that he was unworthy of Long Yin, but that his “career was not developed yet.”
Long Yin was so young, yet how was he such a workaholic with such high career requirements for a marriage partner? But if one had to say, this point was not too strange. It was like a highly educated family of PhDs wanting their future daughter in law to at least have a master’s degree. It was logical and reasonable.
Yue Mingcang reluctantly agreed: “Fine. Then to what extent does my career need to develop?”
“To what extent!” Long Yin’s eyes widened into circles. “Of course, it must be the Hegemon of the Seas!”
“Hegemon of the Seas?” Yue Mingcang froze, asking in confusion, “Is that not Lord Long? Is that not your title?”
Long Yin gave a drunken roll of his eyes and said in a tone of exasperation, “You can topple me! You kick me out of power, make me lose all my allies, and leave me on the streets. Then, you will be the new Hegemon of the Seas, right?”
Yue Mingcang: ” ”
One cannot take the words of a drunkard seriously. It was best to just listen and let it go.
