After the Nerd Marked the Top Omega - Chapter 6
It seemed nothing much had changed after becoming an Alpha.
Fang Xu took the hospital report and went to the school to amend her relevant information, registering her gender after the secondary differentiation.
Coincidentally, Tang Xingxing’s dorm room had a vacancy last semester, so she naturally moved in.
She couldn’t make it to her part-time job at the milk tea shop that afternoon. Fang Xu messaged the boss, simply explaining her situation, and the boss was very understanding.
After a few busy days, it was Sunday in the blink of an eye.
Fang Xu had two tutoring jobs on the weekend, one of which was on Sunday.
This family lived in Yunshan Apartment, a prime location in the city center, not far from the school and accessible directly by subway.
When she arrived at their home, she saw the student already sitting in the study. “Sister Fang, you’re finally here. This problem has stumped me for three days!”
The student’s name was Ke Yue, a high school freshman, and Fang Xu was tutoring her in math for a competition. Fang Xu had been tutoring her for a while.
Ke Yue’s Omega mother, Sang Ning, came over and tapped the child on the head. “Sister Fang just arrived. Let her rest for a bit first.”
Fang Xu smiled lightly and said, “It’s fine. The problems arranged last week were indeed difficult.”
Sang Ning nodded. “Then I’ll leave the fruit here. Remember to take a break if you get tired.”
Ke Yue immediately nodded rapidly like a pecking chick: “Mom, don’t worry, I’ll definitely remember to remind Sister Fang to rest.”
Sang Ning scoffed, putting away the smile on her face, and looked at the child mercilessly: “I didn’t say you could rest.”
She remembered when she first found a tutor for the child, the child, like a little troublemaker, managed to chase away five or six tutors, the reason being: I don’t think they can teach me; our IQs are not on the same level.
If her Alpha at home hadn’t stopped her, Sang Ning would have thrown the child out the door.
She endured and decided to try finding a tutor one last time, and coincidentally met Fang Xu.
After the trial lesson, the child immediately said she wanted Fang Xu to tutor her and no one else.
The facts proved that Fang Xu was indeed very good.
She was knowledgeable in the competition material, explained things simply yet profoundly, and prepared practice questions with extra care every time.
Even someone as self-proclaimed “supremely intelligent” and confident as Ke Yue had to be impressed and listened obediently.
Closing the study door, Sang Ning thought, this might be a case of the biter being bit.
After solving the last problem, Ke Yue’s jaw had been dropped wide open: “Sister Fang, you are amazing! There’s actually a solution like this; it makes it so much simpler!”
Fang Xu hummed, and checked two problems in the exercise book: “These two problems are similar, with slight variations. You can try them.”
Ke Yue closed her eyes, her face full of resignation: “Sister Fang, I get scared when I hear the word ‘variation’ now.”
Competition problems are different from regular math problems. They involve a wide range of knowledge, are often tricky, and one problem can take half a day to solve.
If variations are added, working on them until the end of time is not out of the question.
Fang Xu chuckled: “Don’t worry, they’re not too difficult for someone of your level.”
This sentence was an affirmation of the child’s ability, and a genuine compliment.
Ke Yue’s eyes curved into smiles. If she had a tail, it would probably be wagging now. “Sister Fang, I did last year’s competition simulation test this week, and getting a first prize won’t be a problem.”
Fang Xu said while tidying up the things on the desk: “Your goal shouldn’t be just a first prize, right?”
Ke Yue was very smart, and only a high school freshman, with room for improvement.
Ke Yue: “Of course!”
After speaking, she added: “Sister Fang, you are the smartest person I have ever met, besides my cousin.”
Fang Xu followed the child’s words and asked: “Is your cousin also studying for the competition?”
“No,” the child was consuming fruit to replenish energy after overusing her brain, and didn’t forget to hand some to Fang Xu. “She’s already working. She taught me how to do problems before. She was very fierce and impatient. I still prefer Sister Fang.”
Fang Xu: “…”
Very fierce?
For some reason, she thought of the rumored very fierce Pei Yunci.
She wondered who was fiercer.
Ke Yue saw her spacing out and tilted her head, calling out, “Sister Fang?”
Fang Xu snapped back: “If there are no problems, should we stop here for today?”
“Okay!” Ke Yue was still sensible when not being mischievous: “Sister Fang, please be careful on your way.”
After saying goodbye to Sang Ning, Fang Xu left Yunshan Apartment.
However, she didn’t go straight back to school. She stood next to the subway station and searched for the route to the Pei Group.
The Pei Group was in the city center, with towering buildings and a prominent symbol. Looking up at the whole building from below made one feel particularly small.
With no appointment and no contact information, Fang Xu could only rely purely on luck.
Fortunately, there was a resting area on the first floor. She sat down and searched for information about Pei Yunci.
She graduated from Jiangcheng University, then studied abroad, completed all her courses in two years and returned to China, subsequently taking over the Pei Group. In just three years, the Pei Group had developed rapidly, reached cooperation agreements with multiple companies, and its market value had continuously increased.
Her private information was well protected, with only the fact that she was an S-grade Omega mentioned more frequently.
The sun gradually shifted to the west, and it was time for work to end.
Fang Xu pursed her lips, searching among the passing people, but didn’t see the cold and distinguished figure she had hoped for.
However, she wasn’t too disappointed. After all, given the other party’s status, not seeing her was the norm, and meeting her by chance would be a small probability event.
She walked up to the front desk, took out an envelope, which contained the medical expenses she had prepared.
Fang Xu spoke: “Hello, Pei… Yunci left something here. Could you please help me pass it on?”
Fang Xu thought that there might be more than one “President Pei” in the company, so she just said the name.
The front desk staff froze for a moment, then quickly responded: “I’m sorry, I don’t have the authority for that right now. If you have President Pei’s or her assistant’s contact information, you can hand it over to them directly.”
Fang Xu wasn’t surprised and could only say, “Thank you.”
Leaving the Pei Group, she looked at the envelope in her hand, thinking she probably wouldn’t have a chance to contact the other party again.
One thousand yuan for medical expenses might just be a casual instruction to Pei Yunci, forgotten in the blink of an eye.
If she really waited downstairs every day, she might even be mistaken for someone with ulterior motives or greed.
Fang Xu took a deep breath and silently and sincerely said “thank you” in her heart.
Barring any surprises, she wouldn’t have the chance to see the other party again.
On the other side.
Private hospital.
The ward was fully equipped with facilities, and outside the window were large areas of ornamental plants, making it look more like a sanatorium than a hospital.
Du Xing’an walked in with the examination report, looking at Pei Yunci, who had already picked up her laptop to work, and said helplessly, “Workaholic, how are you feeling?”
Pei Yunci spared her a glance, perfunctorily saying, “I think I’m fine, I should be able to be discharged.”
“Fine?” Du Xing’an was half-furious at the two words. She threw the report over: “Look at the check results yourself. None of the gland indicators are within the normal range.”
As the saying goes, long illness makes the patient a doctor.
Even though the examination report had many professional terms and values, Pei Yunci could understand the general idea. After simply flipping through two pages, she said, “The difference is not significant compared to the last examination.”
Du Xing’an scoffed. “You know the difference isn’t significant? Then how dare you inject five doses of inhibitor consecutively? Are you really trying to die?”
Pei Yunci placed the examination report aside and said, “Without the inhibitor, I might still be unconscious now.”
Du Xing’an: “…”
She closed the ward door, pulled up a chair and sat down. “Do you really think the inhibitor worked? If it weren’t for the temporary marking, even ten doses of inhibitor would still leave you unconscious.”
Pei Yunci didn’t argue with her about the matter: “It’s good that the result is correct.”
Six characters, a short sentence, completely blocked the long speech Du Xing’an had prepared.
“It’s good that the result is correct, is it?” Du Xing’an took a deep breath and said, “Then come with me now for a full body check to see if there are any other problems.”
Due to time constraints, the focus had only been on the glands and pheromones.
However, as a part of the body, the glands are also closely related to other parts of the body, so a full body check was necessary.
Pei Yunci glanced at her schedule and said, “No time. I have an online meeting later, and I have to go to the company tomorrow.”
Du Xing’an: “No time?”
Pei Yunci nodded.
Du Xing’an crossed her arms and leaned against the back of the chair, saying, “Have you ever heard a saying?”
Pei Yunci narrowed her eyes, sensing it wouldn’t be anything nice.
Sure enough, before Pei Yunci could speak, Du Xing’an answered the question herself: “Why sleep so long before death, when you will rest eternally after death? What work are you busy with now? It won’t be too late to be busy after you’ve kicked the bucket.”
Pei Yunci: “…”
She could understand the other party’s good intentions, but her own thoughts wouldn’t easily change: “Xing’an, I was in this state before, and nothing went wrong.”
Du Xing’an pressed: “What about this time? You couldn’t even control your pheromones, directly entering a pseudo-estrus. Was that also within your expectation?”
Pei Yunci: “According to the examination report, after the pseudo-estrus, there is a low-level period for pheromones. There won’t be a similar situation for at least three months.”
Du Xing’an: “What about after three months? If this wasn’t an accident but the norm, and you simply can’t control your pheromones?”
She sighed and said, “Yunci, you know what I want to ask.”
The two were not just doctor and patient but friends who had known each other for decades.
Back then, Du Xing’an’s family wanted her to inherit the family business and opposed her studying medicine. She went abroad alone, and it was Pei Yunci who supported her.
Pei Yunci closed her laptop and said slowly, “The Alpha who marked me?”
Seeing that the person didn’t avoid her question, Du Xing’an achieved her goal and immediately pulled her chair a big step forward, her eyes filled with unconcealed curiosity.
Her expression was vastly different from before.
“Yes, tell me quickly, how did you agree to let them mark you? Be honest, you can’t hide anything.”
If Pei Yunci didn’t allow it, no Alpha could possibly mark her.
Du Xing’an had a clear understanding of this.
Pei Yunci glanced at her: “Prying into a patient’s privacy? Is that Dr. Du’s professional ethics?”
Hearing this, Du Xing’an immediately took off her white coat and said, “Okay, now you can talk.”
This private hospital had investment from the Du family, giving her the capital to be willful.
Pei Yunci: “…”
She thought of the rich but non-repulsive citrus scent pheromone in the isolation room, and those eyes slightly flushed with red.
There were many Alphas, but it was rare for someone to faint immediately after marking an Omega.
Pei Yunci withdrew her thoughts and said indifferently, “There’s nothing to say. It was just a special situation at the time, and marking was the best solution.”
Du Xing’an didn’t believe a single word of that sentence: “Come on. With your brain, even if the sky fell, you could still find a second solution? This explanation can fool others, but it can’t fool me.”
Pei Yunci’s expression didn’t change: “Then what do you think it is?”
Du Xing’an guessed according to her own thoughts: “You have a crush on her?”
Pei Yunci’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, her tone without any fluctuation: “Why would you think that?”
She counted on her fingers and analyzed: “I’ve helped you find five or six Alphas before, and you also had your assistant look for some. You rejected so many Alphas after the first meeting, didn’t accept a single one, causing my hair to fall out in clumps at a young age.”
“Only this one, in a special period, you let her mark you directly.”
“Tell me, how can I not overthink things?”
Social pressure is high nowadays, and many Alphas and Omegas have glandular issues.
For mild symptoms, imitation medical pheromones can be used.
For severe symptoms that require marking, the hospital also has specialized services, most of which involve volunteers.
The Alphas Du Xing’an mentioned included volunteers and people found through “money power.”
But they were all rejected by Pei Yunci.
This was also the reason for Du Xing’an’s urgency.
If Pei Yunci could accept a stable Alpha marking, the glandular pain and pheromone disorder could actually be alleviated.
Pei Yunci said softly: “Among these people, some released their pheromones as soon as we met, some started to boss me around about my work after meeting once. And some asked if I wanted to develop another relationship when the marking was about to happen.”
Alphas are not hard to find, but normal, non-transgressive Alphas are.
Pei Yunci wasn’t really trying to die; she valued her life, or else she wouldn’t waste time meeting these Alphas.
But temporary marking is not a small matter; it’s impossible to just casually find someone to do it.
Du Xing’an whispered: “If you ask me, you shouldn’t have met these people. All you need is pheromones. Mark, pay the money, and tell them to get lost.”
If the other party became greedy afterward, Pei Yunci had a hundred ways to retaliate.
Hearing this, Pei Yunci only said: “I have a cleanliness obsession.”
Not just physical cleanliness, but psychological cleanliness too.
Du Xing’an: “So, your cleanliness obsession suddenly disappeared this time, or did the other party pass your assessment?”
The topic was brought back to the beginning.
Pei Yunci thought of the somewhat naive girl who, even with her gland exposed, still managed to say the word “won’t.”
She probably couldn’t fake that look.
She said indifferently: “Just not repulsive.”
Du Xing’an: “Not repulsive, that’s a very high compliment from you. Not repulsive means not disliked, not disliked means liked, liked means super liked, four round up to…”
Before she finished speaking, she felt a chill down her spine.
Coughing, Du Xing’an abruptly stopped and asked the question she cared about most: “Then are you planning to try letting her mark you for auxiliary treatment?”
Pei Yunci didn’t answer directly, instead changing the subject: “She is a student at Jiangcheng University, 21 years old, Computer Science department, currently a junior.”
Yesterday, after getting the name from the hospital, her assistant handed over the information.
Du Xing’an blurted out: “Robbing the cradle.”
Although Pei Yunci was only twenty-eight years old, with a seven-year age difference, one was a university student and the other had been working for years, making it easy to have this misconception.
As soon as the words fell, Pei Yunci threw the examination report she had put aside.
The temperature in the entire ward inexplicably dropped significantly.
Du Xing’an: “…”
It seemed she really hit a nerve, or else she wouldn’t be so angry?
She could think that in her mind, but she definitely couldn’t say it out loud.
She caught the report, put it far away, and said spinelessly: “My mistake, my mistake. Then do you think she won’t agree?”
Jiangcheng University is ranked highly nationwide, and those who can get in are considered top students.
Pei Yunci raised an eyebrow slightly: “Won’t agree?”
With her capability, as long as the conditions offered were superior enough, the other party couldn’t refuse.
Du Xing’an really couldn’t think of any other reason and asked curiously, “Then why?”
Pei Yunci’s fingers paused slightly while replying to an email. She didn’t keep her guessing and said indifferently, “She has a girlfriend.”
Du Xing’an was amused.
She spun the pen in her hand, drawing out her words, looking like she was enjoying the spectacle: “So, she has a girlfriend.”
In an instant, countless novel plots flashed through Du Xing’an’s mind.
She joked: “Are you planning to forcibly take her, break them up, and tear apart a destined couple? Or is it a canary literature where she flees, you chase, and she can’t fly away?”
Pei Yunci: “…”
She didn’t speak, not wanting to bother with Du Xing’an, who was already immersed in her own world.
After running through a melodramatic drama in her head, Du Xing’an sighed: “You’d better not use inhibitors for the next three months.”
Pei Yunci hummed, her tone perfunctory.
Du Xing’an: “I’m serious!”
Pei Yunci didn’t even lift her eyes, responding: “Okay.”
Her attitude was not much better than before.
Du Xing’an didn’t want to lose any more hair. She took a deep breath, pretending not to hear her words, and directly stated her own thoughts: “I’ll help you look for other Alphas. I didn’t know you liked younger ones before. Turns out my direction was wrong all along…”
Pei Yunci interrupted her: “Don’t overthink.”
“Mhm, I won’t overthink,” Du Xing’an had already started contacting her assistant: “Then I’ll look at Jiangcheng University for you.”
Pei Yunci didn’t reply again but also didn’t stop the person next to her.
She was momentarily distracted, thinking of the Alpha who was even awkward and clumsy with the marking.
Regardless, she wouldn’t actually forcibly take her.
Their intersection could only end here.
