After the Nerd Marked the Top Omega - Chapter 33.1
The little girl’s flowers were expensive, but their quality was excellent. The roses were beautiful, the petals weren’t wilted, and each one stood straight. Held in her arms, they almost covered Fang Xu’s entire face.
After Pei Yunci let her in, she asked, “Why the sudden purchase of flowers?”
“I met a girl selling flowers on the road,” Fang Xu recounted what had just happened. “It was too cold outside, so I bought all the flowers.”
Pei Yunci acknowledged with a soft “Mm.” This was something the girl would do. “Put them on the table for now.”
Each rose was individually wrapped, unlike a large bouquet. They couldn’t stand on their own, so she had to set them down gently, careful not to crush the petals.
As Fang Xu arranged the flowers, she asked, “Do you like roses?”
“They’re alright,” Pei Yunci looked at her. “If you like them, will you give them to me?”
Fang Xu immediately nodded. “I’ll find a vase and arrange them for you. It’s okay if you don’t like them.”
Pei Yunci had helped her a lot, and she wanted to thank the person. Flowers seemed perfect.
“Use this vase,” Pei Yunci glanced around, then took one from a display cabinet.
It was a tall, prismatic glass vase with a hazy, translucent beauty, an annual art piece by a famous international designer, and a birthday gift from Ji Qingsi a few years ago.
Ji Qingsi’s intention was for her to try growing flowers to cultivate her temperament, but Pei Yunci was busy, and the vase was never used, remaining purely as a decoration.
Fang Xu poured some water into the vase first, then slowly began arranging the flowers.
Pei Yunci watched her movements for a while, then said, “Leave ten roses out.”
“Okay,” Fang Xu agreed. After finishing the arrangement, she asked, “Should I put these ten in a different vase?”
Pei Yunci: “No need.”
Fang Xu had thought the remaining flowers had some other purpose and didn’t quite understand her meaning. She looked up and asked, “Then where should I put them?”
The roses were beautiful. To make arranging easier, the girl was half-crouched on the floor, looking up, her eyes clear and clean, more captivating than the flowers.
Pei Yunci said, “Keep them for yourself.”
She had only said she liked them, and the girl was willing to leave all the flowers in the apartment, not a single one for herself.
Hearing this, the corners of Fang Xu’s lips curved slightly upward. “I’ll take them when I leave.”
In a way, this could be considered flowers gifted to her by Pei Yunci.
After tidying up the flowers, the two went to the master bedroom for the marking.
A good student couldn’t “stay out all night” too many times, so Pei Yunci didn’t waste time; starting early meant finishing early.
For the marking, there had been quite a few times already, and both were familiar with the process.
Pei Yunci sat on the girl’s lap. The girl was no longer as nervous as the first time, her legs tightly clenched, making sitting uncomfortable.
She wrapped her arms around the girl’s waist, resting her chin on the other’s shoulder. “Help me take off the inhibitor patch.”
Although Fang Xu’s personality was very different from most Alphas, she did have similarities, such as a body temperature that was always a bit higher than hers.
Especially in winter, leaning against the girl’s embrace was warm and cozy, making her feel lazy and unwilling to move.
“Okay,” Fang Xu didn’t know why, but she was especially nervous today, her heart pounding non-stop, as if she were drunk.
When both inhibitor patches were removed, the scent of citrus in the bedroom had completely diffused, becoming especially rich.
Pei Yunci felt it and casually asked, “Is your susceptible period approaching?”
Their heat and susceptible periods were very close in timing, so most of the time, Fang Xu didn’t need to use inhibitors.
“Probably,” Fang Xu wasn’t certain. “The timing sometimes gets delayed by two days.”
She first checked that her fingertips weren’t cold before slowly soothing the other’s scent gland.
As the condition slowly recovered, the bellflower scent seemed more active than before, chasing the citrus scent around the bedroom.
Pei Yunci pretended not to notice and asked nonchalantly, “Have you been busy with the competition lately?”
She still remembered how the girl hadn’t forgotten to do problems even when she was drunk.
Fang Xu paused slightly, then hummed in response. It wasn’t surprising that the person in her arms knew everything. “My advisor recommended it. This competition has a high level of prestige.”
Hearing this, Pei Yunci ventured a guess: “JGCPC?”
This programming competition was well-known in both academia and business. Some designs from previous editions had already been patented and bought by companies, being applied to their products, hence the numerous investors. Pei Group was also one of them.
“Yes,” Fang Xu looked at her scent gland, her nose filled with the bellflower scent, and her reaction was a little slow. “You know about this competition too?”
“I’ve heard of it.” Pei Yunci didn’t say too much. If she mentioned that she would also be at the finals, the girl might start getting nervous right now.
She suddenly asked, “Are you going to work on problems now?”
Fang Xu didn’t quite understand, just truthfully replied, “I’ll do them when I get back to school.”
Pei Yunci hummed, then buried herself in the crook of her neck, gently saying, “You can mark now.”
As the marking teeth bit down, Pei Yunci’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, and her hand tightly gripped the Alpha’s sleeve.
Right at the position of the chest cavity, she seemed to feel the girl’s rapidly beating heart, thump after thump, disrupting her own breathing.
It seemed the slowpoke wasn’t entirely clueless.
If the good student were thinking about working on problems while marking her, she would absolutely make the person do enough problems.
Fang Xu was completely unaware that she had unwittingly dodged a bullet. After the marking, she took a tissue to wipe the area of the gland for the person.
Her breathing was heavier than usual. She deliberately lowered her voice, but it was still audible, and the person in her arms was the same.
The two pheromones slowly mingled. Pei Yunci hadn’t fully recovered her strength and still leaned on the person’s shoulder, chatting idly. “How’s your game doing?”
Fang Xu replied, “Guangwen Company hasn’t sent any more trolls. I’ve updated the game recently, and the number of players is still increasing.”
Pei Yunci acknowledged, “Not planning to sell it for the time being?”
“Mm,” Fang Xu shared her thoughts. “I’m not short of money right now, and I also can’t bear to sell the game.”
The game’s script was written by her word by word, and the scenes within were slowly polished out every weekday evening. It was her first game, so naturally, her feelings for it ran deep.
Pei Yunci said, “There’s no rush on this matter.”
Pei Group’s business was not in game development and operation, but more focused on the research and development of gaming equipment, such as controllers, gaming pods, etc. But she also understood game companies; most small games they bought would not be given too much importance.
She could, of course, directly buy the girl’s game, but if she did that, she would have to smell sour lemon for a few days again.
When she had mostly recovered, Pei Yunci got up from the girl’s arms.
Fang Xu waited until the person was steady before retracting her loosely wrapped arm.
Pei Yunci’s eye corners were still a little red, her lips were deeper in color than usual, and her hair, casually draped over her shoulder, looked as if it had been meticulously styled by a designer.
“I’m going to the restroom.”
As her lips opened and closed, Fang Xu’s previous thought surfaced again, making her involuntarily curl her fingertips. “Okay, I’ll go to the guest room too.”
There was no one else in the apartment, so the guest room was like Fang Xu’s exclusive space; the lights only came on when she was there.
The weather was cold, but Fang Xu still used cold water. After washing, the warmth on her face finally subsided.
After tidying up, she went to the living room, looking at the roses on the table, and her thoughts wandered: Could the susceptible period also make her want to kiss someone?
Otherwise, why would this thought linger in her mind, still not disappearing?
“What are you thinking about?” A voice suddenly came from behind.
Fang Xu was already lost in thought. Hearing the voice, she immediately stood up and looked at the person. “Nothing.”
Pei Yunci’s eyebrows twitched slightly.
Something’s not right.
When they first met, the girl was like this, easily nervous, and a little afraid of her, answering a single sentence as if facing the strictest teacher.
But after spending time together, the other person had become much more natural around her, yet now she was a bit unusual.
Pei Yunci didn’t ask directly, only saying, “Heading back to school?”
Fang Xu nodded. “It’s not too late now.”
“Good,” Pei Yunci looked at her for a moment. “Your hair isn’t dry yet.”
If she walked around in the cold wind with wet hair, catching a cold or a fever would be inevitable.
Fang Xu couldn’t see, so she touched her bangs and the hair by her cheeks. “Here?”
“No, let me help you dry it.” Pei Yunci pulled out two tissues.
Fang Xu hadn’t quite figured out what happened earlier. Worried about getting close to the other person and giving rise to presumptuous thoughts again, she declined, “I can do it myself.”
Pei Yunci looked at her, not accepting the refusal. “Can you see it?”
I have a mirror, I can just dry it in front of the mirror. Fang Xu thought.
But meeting Pei Yunci’s gaze, she still didn’t say the words. Her intuition told her that the other person didn’t like being rejected a second time.
Fang Xu walked closer, leaning slightly to make it easier for the person to help. “Thank you.”
Being so obedient made Pei Yunci a little more satisfied. She took the tissues and helped dry the damp hair near the girl’s forehead.
Her movements were gentle. Her silk pajamas occasionally brushed past Fang Xu’s forehead, feeling smooth and ticklish, carrying a faint scent of bellflower.
Fang Xu’s eyelashes fluttered slightly. When the other person said, “All done,” she realized she didn’t know when she had been holding her breath.
She stammered a little when she spoke: “Then, then I’ll be going.”
Pei Yunci acknowledged with an “Mm,” then watched the girl turn to leave with her backpack, seeming a little anxious.
She spoke up again, “Take the flowers.”
“Oh.”
Fang Xu immediately stopped her steps, picked up the roses from the table, and then left the apartment.
From beginning to end, she hadn’t dared to look Pei Yunci in the eye.
The door closed. Pei Yunci gently tapped a rose in the vase, thinking about how when the girl was drunk, she loved looking at her the most, staring straight. She had to confirm she was there with every step, practically wanting to stick the two of them together.
“Want.”
What exactly did Fang Xu want to say back then?
Pei Yunci could vaguely guess, but she wasn’t sure and needed to verify it.
She lowered her gaze slightly, thinking of the girl’s tension and avoidance just now.
Was this how she looked when she fell for someone?
Fang Xu had been overlooked before, easily ignored, so she wasn’t particularly conscious of other people’s gazes.
Carrying the roses, combined with her good looks, passersby couldn’t help but look twice.
It wasn’t until she reached the school gate that Fang Xu realized there were no vases in the dorm. She’d have to buy a drink bottle to temporarily hold the flowers.
“Fang Xu?”
A voice suddenly broke her train of thought.
Fang Xu looked towards the source of the voice, paused for a moment, and greeted her. “Song Shu.”
Song Shu hadn’t wanted to eat at the cafeteria for dinner, so she ate outside. When she returned, she saw someone who looked a lot like Fang Xu, holding roses, and tentatively called out, only to find it was really her.
She frowned slightly and asked, “Did you buy these flowers, or did someone else give them to you?”
