After the Nerd Marked the Top Omega - Chapter 24.1
The phone line went quiet.
Fang Xu realized her words might be ambiguous and quickly added, “That sentence they made me send—it’s this one.”
Pei Yunci’s voice was normal: “I know. Truth or Dare is usually about these topics.”
The conversations always revolved around romance. As for the second person on the list, it should be a contemporary with whom the other person had contact.
Fang Xu blinked, a little curious: “Did you ever play this kind of game before?”
Pei Yunci: “No.”
Gatherings in the aristocratic circle played things more exposed than this. However, she had always refrained from participating, preferring to find a quiet place to stay.
Fang Xu hummed, unsure what else to say, until a moment later, she remembered: “Did you call me about something?”
“Can’t I contact you if there’s nothing wrong?”
The person on the other end chuckled, the sound traveling through the line and making Fang Xu’s ears tingle.
“I didn’t mean that,” Fang Xu felt a momentary rush of nervousness, afraid she had misunderstood: “You can call me anytime you want.”
Knowing the girl was well-behaved, she hadn’t expected her to be this well-behaved.
Pei Yunci didn’t tease her anymore and stated the purpose of the call: “You left something in the bedroom that night. Should I have someone send it over, or will you pick it up when it’s convenient?”
Fang Xu thought back but didn’t recall losing anything: “What is it?”
Pei Yunci said: “A butterfly ear cuff.”
The ear cuff was a gift Fang Xu had bought for Song Shu a while ago, and it had recently resurfaced while she was tidying up her dorm room.
She had already broken up with Song Shu, so there was no need to keep the gift.
Fang Xu had intended to return the ear cuff, so she had tucked it into her backpack. When she was at the apartment, it might have slipped out unnoticed when she took out her design drawings.
She said: “I’ll go get it myself.”
“Alright,” Pei Yunci looked at the delicate butterfly ear cuff next to her; it didn’t look like something the other person would wear herself.
But she didn’t ask further, only saying: “When do you have time?”
Fang Xu thought for a moment, “Can I leave it with you for now? I’ll pick it up the next time we meet.”
She had her internship on weekdays and tutoring on weekends. The ear cuff wasn’t urgent, and she would go to the apartment again anyway.
“Sure,” Pei Yunci readily agreed.
After speaking, she said softly: “Xiao Xu.”
“Mmm, I’m here.”
“If you’ve had a drink, go back to rest early, and send me a message when you get to the school.”
Pei Yunci knew that if the dare wasn’t completed, there would surely be a penalty.
Fang Xu felt the tension and awkwardness she had experienced in the private room completely smoothed out. She curved her lips: “Okay.”
After hanging up the phone, she returned to the room. The senior student moved over to make space for her: “Why did you take so long?”
Fang Xu didn’t feel like it had been long, but glancing at the people around her, several were drunk, and the table was covered with beer cans.
She was a little surprised: “Did you drink this much?”
The senior had also had two cans but wasn’t severely drunk yet: “Can’t help it. The games got bigger and wilder later on. You weren’t here; you missed so many exciting moments.”
Fang Xu smiled, feeling only the relief of having avoided it.
In a blink, summer vacation arrived. Students’ final exams were over one after another, and the university grew quiet, with only a small number of people remaining on campus.
Fang Xu and her sister’s train tickets had been purchased in advance. After Fang Yi’s exams finished, she returned to Yucheng to pick her up.
Before leaving, she specifically instructed: “Don’t bring your homework; you can do it when we get back.”
Fang Yi nodded vigorously: “Sis, you read my mind! Why would you bring homework on a trip?”
Fang Xu: “…”
It seemed she had overthought things.
Arriving in Jiangcheng, Fang Yi looked at the scenery, which was different from her hometown, and was especially excited: “Sis, how many days did you take off from your internship?”
“I took a week off, so I can be with you for about ten days,” Fang Xu replied.
She took off on Thursday. From Friday to the Monday after next, her tutoring was also canceled, which worked out to exactly ten days. However, she would have to send her sister back to Yucheng at the end, so the actual playtime wouldn’t be quite that long.
Hearing this, the girl immediately hugged her: “That long! Sis, I love you!”
Fang Xu chuckled, telling her not to cling so tightly: “Have you thought about where you want to go during this time?”
“Qianniao Lake, and the amusement park!” Fang Yi said.
“Those are the same two places your Xingxing sister recommended,” Fang Yi carried her suitcase into the hotel room: “There are also some unique Jiangcheng delicacies that we’ll try during this time.”
Since her sister was coming, Fang Xu wasn’t comfortable letting her stay alone, so she booked a double room at a hotel near the school.
“Wow!” Hearing about food, Fang Yi was immediately tempted: “Are we going tonight?”
Fang Xu smiled softly: “We can. Let’s rest for a bit first.”
The girl nodded, and after a while, she said again: “Sis, I also want to see Jiangcheng University.”
“Alright,” Fang Xu naturally accommodated: “I’ll take you in then.”
Since she was a student at Jiangcheng University, it was easy to register and bring someone onto the campus.
Fang Xu tidied up the contents of her suitcase, and the girl helped beside her.
“Sis.”
“What is it?”
“Nothing, I just wanted to call you ‘Sis’.” The girl was particularly happy right now.
Fang Xu smiled lightly: “Okay.”
After saying that, she thought for a moment, looked at the girl’s soft hair, and couldn’t resist reaching out and stroking her head.
As for the girl’s previous request, occasionally forgetting was excusable.
“Sis,” Fang Yi said wistfully, but since the person was already by her side, she smiled and added, “Fine, I’ll let you touch it this time.”
That evening, they went to the small restaurant Xingxing had recommended.
The place wasn’t large, but it was clean and tidy, and there were many people inside.
They waited for fifteen minutes before a table became available.
The two ordered four of the signature dishes and a bowl of Jiangcheng’s specialty sweet soup.
Towards the end of the meal, Fang Yi was quite full and leaned back in her chair: “Sis, I can’t eat any more.”
“We can pack the rest to take back,” Fang Xu said.
She was also mostly done, occasionally sipping the sweet soup.
The girl looked at the food on the table, regretting her limited appetite: “I actually still want to eat it; it’s so delicious.”
“You like it that much?” Fang Xu hadn’t expected it: “Then let’s come again tomorrow.”
Fang Yi thought for a moment, then shook her head: “Xingxing sister recommended several places, so we’ll go somewhere else tomorrow.”
As she spoke, she didn’t forget to say: “Sis, I’m going to send a message to thank Xingxing sister.”
The girl was very action-oriented; she immediately lowered her head to type the message and even sent the photos she had taken earlier.
“Xingxing sister says we have good taste and insists we try the other restaurants.”
“Alright,” Fang Xu asked with a smile: “Qianniao Lake tomorrow?”
“Mhm!”
After replying to Tang Xingxing’s message, Fang Yi’s eyes sparkled as she asked: “Sis, how about I treat you to this meal?”
The round-trip train tickets and the hotel costs were not small amounts. Although she knew her sister was working part-time to save money, she still wanted to help lighten the burden.
Seeing that the other person hadn’t agreed, she changed seats, moved next to Fang Xu, hugged her arm, and began to draw out her tone in a spoiled manner: “Sis, I just want to buy you a meal, please?”
Fang Xu smiled, watching her for a moment, then shared the bill with her: “Okay, you treat me this time.”
The girl occasionally received scholarships, and she also transferred money to her every month, so it was normal for her to have some pocket money. Since she wanted to treat her to a meal so much, she naturally couldn’t refuse.
“Yay!”
Walking out of the restaurant, Fang Xu asked her: “Are you this happy to spend money?”
Yiyi was sweet-talker, skilled at coaxing: “Spending money on my sister, of course I’m happy.”
Fang Xu: “No wonder the grandma at the breakfast shop downstairs occasionally gives you tea eggs.”
“Sis, do you want to learn? I’ll teach you.”
Fang Xu: “…No need.”
With her personality, saying such things might scare people off.
Fang Yi thought about it: “Sis, then whenever you need someone to say sweet things, just look for me.”
“Okay.”
Back at the hotel, they were both a little tired. Fang Xu let her sister take a shower first.
“Sis, I’m done with my shower!”
Coming out of the bathroom, Fang Yi saw her typing on the keyboard. She leaned in: “Sis, how’s your game coming along?”
Fang Xu replied: “It should be finished by the end of the summer vacation.”
Fang Yi didn’t understand the technical side but still thought her sister was amazing: “That fast!”
“It’s a small game; it’s relatively simple to make.”
“Sis, when you’re done, remember to tell me! I want to be the first to play it.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll definitely tell you.”
Fang Yi nodded. She glanced at the time; it was already past ten p.m.
She said: “Sis, if you’re not in a rush, save the work for later. These few days are supposed to be your time off; relax properly.”
She knew Fang Xu was always busy earning money and had to make every moment count. She wanted to persuade her, but most of the time, she didn’t get to see her. Now that she finally had a chance to supervise, she definitely had to make sure she rested and relaxed during these days.
“Alright,” Fang Xu replied absently: “Just another hour.”
She had tried running the completed parts while waiting, found a few bugs, and thought she might as well fix them.
Fang Yi negotiated: “Half an hour.”
“Deal.”
Although she was being managed, Fang Xu’s heart felt warm.
Fang Xu closed the laptop: “It’s done. I’m going to take a shower.”
After the person went into the bathroom with her clothes, Fang Yi had a sudden thought.
“Sis, did you already calculate that you could finish in half an hour?”
If she had said half an hour, she probably would have cut it in half again and said fifteen minutes.
A faint, muffled voice came from the bathroom: “No.”
Fang Yi was skeptical but ultimately didn’t ask again.
Mmm, Sis definitely wouldn’t lie to her.
Inside the bathroom, Fang Xu didn’t hear her sister’s voice again and gently curved her lips.
She had marked Pei Yunci, so her own pheromones would also be blended with the other person’s.
Therefore, after showering, Fang Xu turned on the air purification system and sprayed some inhibitor before confirming that no trace of her pheromones remained before exiting the bathroom.
“Sis, is it time to sleep?” Fang Yi was already getting sleepy.
She had a lot of energy, but she used it up quickly and could barely keep her eyes open now.
“Time for bed.” Fang Xu also got into bed and turned off the light: “Good night.”
“Good night, Sis.”
The next day, they went to Qianniao Lake as planned.
Qianniao Lake includes the surrounding large and small lakes, as well as a large wetland area. The scenery is beautiful and very suitable for hiking and sightseeing. Of course, another attraction is the variety of birds that can be seen there. This season was perfect for visiting Qianniao Lake.
“Sis, this place is so beautiful!” Fang Yi exclaimed.
The grass was lush, the trees were dense, and the lake water was clear. Occasionally, a flock of birds would sweep across the clear blue sky, their reflections on the water resembling a scene from an animation.
“It is,” Fang Xu also looked up at the sky.
Although Qianniao Lake was not far from Jiangcheng University, she rarely went out to play and this was her first time here.
“That bird has bright blue feathers, it’s so pretty!”
“Where?”
“In front, in front, that one by the lake.”
To protect the birds and the wetland, the viewing areas were set up a distance away. They were each holding a pair of binoculars rented from the scenic area.
Fang Xu nodded: “I see it. The one next to it is also very pretty, with red feathers.”
“They’re really beautiful; I’ve never seen them before.”
As they walked forward, they could see introduction signs placed everywhere in the scenic area, with the names and habits of each type of bird.
Fang Yi read each one and couldn’t help but marvel: “Sis, there are so many types of birds.”
Although the school had a biology curriculum and had introduced some birds, it was nowhere near as stunning as seeing them in person.
“If you like it this much, I’ll take you out more often in the future,” Fang Xu said with a smile.
