After The Forced Marriage, I Ended Up With The Top Celebrity - Chapter 29
A Wedding Plan?
Right away?
The reporters collectively gasped in shock, followed by a chorus of frenzied shouting. Only Luo Nianshu stood there with a deadpan expression, her right eyelid twitching uncontrollably.
A microphone was thrust toward her. “Miss Luo, is it true? Are you two really planning to get married?”
Everyone stared at her, eyes full of anticipation.
Qiao Jinyan also turned her head and looked at her with a bright, charming smile but there was a clear threat hidden behind it.
How should she respond? Should she distance herself from him? Or admit to this blackmail-laced marriage plan?
If she denied the relationship now, Qiao Jinyan would be publicly humiliated, and might once again become the laughingstock of the internet. But if she admitted it, it would be equivalent to announcing to Zhang Weiyin online: I’m back with Qiao Jinyan.
“Nianshu, answer them quickly,” Qiao Jinyan urged sweetly, her full red lips curved in a beautiful smile, and her almond eyes sparkling like stars yet there was pleading behind them.
Luo Nianshu stared into those pleading eyes. Her long lashes trembled like a butterfly’s wings. She took the mic and gripped it tightly, her tone light:
“It’s in the planning stage. But… it might be a very, very, very long-term plan.”
Very, very, very long-term?
The reporters all nodded knowingly clearly, the wedding date was uncertain and could be indefinitely postponed.
Qiao Jinyan still maintained her elegant and gentle smile in front of the cameras, but her hand discreetly pinched Luo Nianshu’s shoulder hard.
Luo Nianshu winced in pain, frowning. She wanted to cry out but didn’t dare, letting out only a muffled grunt from her throat.
After the staff dispersed the reporters, Qiao Jinyan strutted over to Luo Nianshu, her steps as smug as a fox’s. She proudly held up her phone:
“Luo Nianshu, I just posted a new Weibo.”
Luo Nianshu’s bad feeling returned stronger than ever, her right eyelid twitching again. She swallowed nervously. “What did you post?”
“I told the internet that we’re planning our wedding.”
Luo Nianshu:”……”
She should be irritated, even anxious but instead, a soft sweetness welled up in her chest, impossible to suppress. Staring at Qiao Jinyan, she asked seriously:
“Is this your way of forcing me to marry you?”
“Yes.” Qiao Jinyan nodded without hesitation.
She crouched down, placing her hands on Luo Nianshu’s knees, resting her head to the side. The soft sunlight lit up her face, casting a delicate glow. Her high-bridged nose looked even more sculpted under the warm light.
Now, Qiao Jinyan was half a body shorter than Luo Nianshu. She had to look up at her.
In the past, it had always been Luo Nianshu looking up, chasing a dream that seemed out of reach. But now, Qiao Jinyan was willingly and lovingly gazing upward.
“Nianshu,” Qiao Jinyan whispered with a hint of playfulness and accusation in her voice. “You already made me look like an abandoned wife once in front of the entire internet. Don’t do it to me again.”
Luo Nianshu stayed silent, her warm fingers gently brushing Qiao Jinyan’s hair. Her hair was cool and soft, slipping through her fingers like silk.
She couldn’t hold on to it.
She clenched her fists. Only God knows how much I want to marry her.
The moment Qiao Jinyan mentioned wanting to post their marriage certificate online, she had the urge to fly her back to the country and register it immediately.
“Don’t just stay silent.” Qiao Jinyan nudged her knee.
Luo Nianshu’s eyes were deep, the shadows of tree leaves dancing across her face, adding a mysterious aura. She thought for a moment and was just about to speak when she caught sight of a familiar figure in the distance.
“Molly,” she said, her voice calm as her gaze locked onto the angry face approaching.
At the sound of that name, Qiao Jinyan rose to her feet and looked toward the dusty figure walking toward them with unusual calm like someone bracing for a storm.
Yet, Molly didn’t explode.
Her black trench coat billowed and settled again in the wind, sharp and stern. She stopped a few steps away, watching them silently for a moment. Taking a deep breath, she seemed to forcefully suppress the fury ready to erupt.
“Did you block my number?” Molly’s voice was dark.
“Yes,” Qiao Jinyan answered flatly.
Confirmed, Molly’s face visibly darkened. She glanced at Luo Nianshu and spoke to Qiao Jinyan with a double-edged tone:
“For her? Are you insane?”
“Yes, I’m insane.” Qiao Jinyan nodded. “For her.”
Molly laughed in disbelief, tapping the ground with her toe in frustration. Her eyes flashed with anger:
“She dated you at your peak, abandoned you when you were at your lowest, and now that you’re famous again, she’s back. You really want to be with her?”
“Luo Nianshu isn’t like that. She had her reasons.”
Molly scoffed, but as she stepped toward Luo Nianshu, Qiao Jinyan quickly pulled her behind, shielding her.
That action made Molly freeze momentarily, emotions flickering across her face.
She pulled out a cigarette and held it out.
Qiao Jinyan had been a heavy smoker these past two years. Given everything she’d gone through, the company had turned a blind eye. But when offered the cigarette, she simply shook her head:
“I’ve quit, Molly.”
“Since when?”
“Yesterday.”
“How?”
“Luo Nianshu told me not to.”
“That’s it?”
“Mm.”
Molly: “……”
As her longtime agent, Molly had begged and pressured her for years to quit smoking but one word from Luo Nianshu, and she did it just like that?
What did she even mean to her?
She glared at Luo Nianshu bitterly. Luo Nianshu shrugged helplessly, though a smile tugged at her lips.
She laced her fingers with Qiao Jinyan’s tighter.
“Miss Qiao, you’re needed on set,” a crew member in a sun hat called out.
Qiao Jinyan nodded but looked between Molly and Luo Nianshu hesitantly.
Molly, sensing her reluctance, scoffed:
“Relax. I’m not going to mess with your current girlfriend.”
Qiao Jinyan finally relaxed and turned to Luo Nianshu, gently caressing her cheek.
“Wait for me.”
She looked at Luo Nianshu expectantly.
Luo Nianshu understood what she wanted but she didn’t move.
So Qiao Jinyan didn’t move either.
The staff called her name again and again. She remained frozen in place, waiting.
After ten long seconds, Luo Nianshu sighed in defeat. She leaned in and kissed Qiao Jinyan’s forehead.
“Go. Come back soon.”
So sweet, so sappy these two dogs!
Molly’s face turned green.
Even from a distance, the grinding of Molly’s teeth was audible.
“All the good cabbages are being eaten by pigs,” Molly muttered, watching Qiao Jinyan skip away in bliss.
After she left, Molly dusted off her trench coat and sat beside Luo Nianshu.
“She should hate you,” she said coldly, eyes staring straight ahead.
Luo Nianshu was silent. “She does.”
“Even if you were going to break up, you should’ve waited until she got out of the hospital. Leaving her in crisis that’s just cruel.”
Luo Nianshu was quiet for a long time. Finally, she looked at Qiao Jinyan filming in the distance and said softly:
“I couldn’t.”
Couldn’t?
Molly blinked. “You… had your reasons?”
She guessed.
Luo Nianshu chuckled, offering no explanation, only gazing at the faraway woman with tenderness.
“Maybe you can tell me,” Molly pressed, trying to read her expression.
“Forget it.” Luo Nianshu lowered her eyes.
Molly frowned. “Are you afraid Jinyan would retaliate?”
At that, Luo Nianshu’s fingers twitched slightly.
So it was that.
Molly frowned deeper. “Don’t worry I won’t tell her.”
Luo Nianshu looked into her eyes, weighing her sincerity.
“I swear on my honor,” Molly said seriously. (Though her “honor” wasn’t worth much.)
Biting her lip, Luo Nianshu looked once more at Qiao Jinyan, then turned back and hesitated a moment before finally whispering
A few leaves landed on Molly’s shoulder. She brushed them off absently, the cigarette pack in her hand crushed.
“You did the right thing,” she finally said.
“Don’t tell her,” Luo Nianshu said quietly.
“You’re really going to let her hate you like this?”
How could anyone bear such a burden?
Molly’s fists clenched slowly.
But Luo Nianshu didn’t look troubled at all. “Letting her hate me… is better than me hating myself if she got hurt.”
Molly stared, then gave a soft laugh.
“Luckily for you, her love for you outweighs her hate. She’s been angry at you for two years… but deep down, she always believed you were forced to leave her. Strange, right? No one ever told her, but it’s like she always knew.”
Luo Nianshu smiled even more gently.
“Help me, Molly,” she said, fingers interlaced. “Is there a way we can fight back against Zhang Weiyin?”
Molly’s expression turned serious. “If what you say is true, I’ll help.”
“Not against us anymore?” Luo Nianshu teased with a wink.
Molly smiled back. “Now that Qiao Jinyan’s gone public, netizens are surprisingly supportive. The company approved the relationship too.”
“Really?” Luo Nianshu murmured.
If only it had been like this two years ago.
“Fight for it,” Molly said, brushing off her coat and standing. “At least now… there’s no internet, no agents standing in your way.”
