After The Forced Marriage, I Ended Up With The Top Celebrity - Chapter 27:
After dinner, Qiao Jinyan very proactively took the dishes over to the sink. She turned on the faucet, ready to wash them.
“Stop,” Luo Nianshu frowned and snatched the dishes from her. “Sit over there nicely. I’ll do it.”
Qiao Jinyan couldn’t help but smile. She walked over and wrapped her arms around Luo Nianshu from behind, clinging to her like a sloth hugging a tree.
As Luo Nianshu squirted dish soap into a bowl, she reminded, “Be careful not to get the detergent on your hands.”
Qiao Jinyan shook her head behind her and rubbed her head gently against Luo Nianshu’s back, muttering, “It’s fine.”
Just as she said that, the water pressure suddenly fluctuated. A splash of soapy water sprayed onto Luo Nianshu’s waist and also got on Qiao Jinyan’s hands.
Qiao Jinyan let out a small yelp, and Luo Nianshu quickly turned down the faucet. Without a second thought, she grabbed Qiao Jinyan’s hands and carefully washed the soap off her.
Qiao Jinyan stared at Luo Nianshu, who was seriously focused on cleaning her hands.
That serious expression…
She couldn’t be wrong.
Luo Nianshu definitely liked her.
Even though she was certain of it, Qiao Jinyan still felt a tinge of nervousness in her heart. Once again, she told herself firmly: Luo Nianshu likes me. She must.
“All done.” Luo Nianshu handed her a towel to dry her hands and then said, “Now go sit in the room like a good girl.”
But Qiao Jinyan didn’t move. She looked at her expectantly.
Luo Nianshu hesitated, then added, “I’ll come find you once I’m done with the dishes.”
Only then did Qiao Jinyan nod in satisfaction, humming as she skipped off to the living room.
Once Luo Nianshu finished cleaning, she put the dishes away, twisted the water from her clothes, dried her hands, and went to the living room.
Qiao Jinyan was curled up on the soft sofa. When she saw Luo Nianshu, she smiled brightly and patted the seat next to her, inviting her to sit.
Qiao Jinyan pulled out the contract of servitude from her black bag and said, “I was thinking this afternoon, I shouldn’t keep forcing you. So, I’ve decided to give this agreement back to you.”
Luo Nianshu was stunned. “Really?”
“Really,” Qiao Jinyan nodded.
Luo Nianshu felt a surge of joy.
She was finally going to get her contract back! She was finally going to be free!
Her hand shot out, eager to grab that piece of paper she had dreamed of reclaiming.
She tugged the agreement from Qiao Jinyan’s hand
Huh?
Why wasn’t it budging?
Confused, Luo Nianshu looked up and saw Qiao Jinyan still smiling innocently at her. She tugged harder, nearly ripping the paper.
But it still wouldn’t come loose.
Qiao Jinyan held the paper with just two fingers, her face pure and angelic.
Luo Nianshu: “…”
She silently let go and muttered to herself before saying aloud, “Forget it, I don’t want it anymore. You can keep it.”
“Okay!” Qiao Jinyan agreed instantly, snatching the contract back and locking it in her bag in the blink of an eye. Then she added seriously, “You gave it up this time. Don’t think you can get it back so easily later.”
Luo Nianshu: “…Fine.”
She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms behind her head, acting like she was watching TV. But the television was off nothing was playing.
Qiao Jinyan snapped her fingers and pulled out a stack of DVDs from her suitcase, handing them to Luo Nianshu. “Pick one. Let’s watch a movie.”
There were ten in total. Nine starred Qiao Jinyan herself, and only one featured another actor.
Luo Nianshu’s finger hovered over the only one that wasn’t Qiao Jinyan’s. She immediately felt a chilling glare above her head, so she quickly moved her finger and randomly picked one of the nine that starred Qiao Jinyan.
Qiao Jinyan smiled in satisfaction and flipped the DVD case. “I knew you’d want to watch my movie.”
Luo Nianshu: “…”
The movie started playing.
Luo Nianshu stared intently at the screen, not blinking once.
Qiao Jinyan sat beside her, legs curled up, not watching the screen at all. Her eyes stayed on Luo Nianshu.
“This movie is from last year. It was a hit, very popular at the box office.”
Luo Nianshu remained focused on the screen, seemingly ignoring her.
But Qiao Jinyan didn’t care if she was listening she kept talking.
“I’ve done a lot of films over the years. Tons of directors want to work with me. Everyone says my acting’s gotten so much better.”
“Oh, right one director even asked me to sing the theme song for his movie. After I recorded it, it hit the top of the music charts.”
“I want to break into the international scene now, so that’s why I came to Canada this year for filming.”
Luo Nianshu still didn’t reply, just watched the screen with interest. She had already seen this movie at least ten times.
On screen, Qiao Jinyan was dressed in a wedding gown, playing a bride elegant and breathtaking.
Qiao Jinyan leaned closer, lightly nudging Luo Nianshu’s arm. “Nianshu, talk to me, please.”
Luo Nianshu finally turned her head. “Talk about what?”
“Anything. Just tell me what you’ve been doing these past two years.”
“Wouldn’t that be boring?”
“Nope,” Qiao Jinyan’s eyes sparkled. “I want to hear it.”
Luo Nianshu paused, then turned back to the screen, though she already knew every line by heart.
Just as Qiao Jinyan thought she wouldn’t reply again, Luo Nianshu suddenly spoke: “I’ve been in Canada the past two years. Still helping people escape their weddings. But now I only do planning—no more field work.”
Qiao Jinyan leaned in, curious. “Why not go in person anymore?”
“Because there’d be physical contact with the bride or groom. And I think someone wouldn’t be too happy about that.”
Qiao Jinyan immediately caught the keyword. “‘Someone’? Who?”
Luo Nianshu didn’t answer, pretending to keep watching the movie.
Qiao Jinyan moved even closer. She felt hope was right within reach. “Who’s ‘someone’? Nianshu, tell me. Who is it?”
Still no answer but Luo Nianshu’s lips curled slightly.
“It’s me, right? I’m ‘someone,’ aren’t I?” Qiao Jinyan caught every small expression.
She flopped into Luo Nianshu’s lap, rolling around and clinging to her, playfully pestering, “It’s me, right? Nianshu, tell me it’s me!”
Luo Nianshu’s smile deepened. She didn’t answer, just continued watching the bride on screen, letting Qiao Jinyan mess around in her arms.
“Tell me, please?” Qiao Jinyan clung to her neck, her cool nose brushing against Luo Nianshu’s. “Is it me?”
Luo Nianshu finally looked down, smiling. “Yes.”
Qiao Jinyan grinned even wider.
Tired from all the rolling around, she lay on Luo Nianshu’s lap, panting, and lazily played with her hair. “I knew it. You couldn’t let me go.”
Luo Nianshu caught a glimpse of a wrist brace on Qiao Jinyan’s hand. “Why are you wearing that in this heat?”
Before she could touch it, Qiao Jinyan quickly pulled her hand back and smugly said, “It looks good.”
Luo Nianshu chuckled. “Silly girl.”
On screen, the bride and groom began kissing.
Luo Nianshu’s brows twitched slightly.
Just then, Qiao Jinyan sat up and gently held Luo Nianshu’s face, pecking her lips and seriously saying, “Cleaning complete.”
Luo Nianshu froze memories rushed back like a flood.
Another kiss appeared on screen.
Qiao Jinyan kissed her again. “Cleaning complete.”
Another kiss in the movie.
Another kiss from Qiao Jinyan. “Cleaning complete.”
“Cleaning complete.”
“Cleaning complete.”
“Cleaning complete.”
“Cleaning complete.”
When Qiao Jinyan leaned in for yet another kiss, Luo Nianshu held her face and asked breathlessly, “Why do your movies have so many kiss scenes?”
“If you don’t like it, I won’t take roles like that anymore,” Qiao Jinyan said seriously.
Luo Nianshu shook her head. “I don’t mind.”
“You don’t care if someone else kisses me?”
Luo Nianshu’s throat moved. “Nope.”
Qiao Jinyan’s expression turned cold. After a moment, she sighed, “I’m really just asking for heartbreak, huh.”
She moved away, curling up like a big fox and covered her head, pretending to sleep.
Luo Nianshu hesitated, then nudged her. “Are you mad?”
Qiao Jinyan smacked her hand away and kept covering her head, silent.
She was definitely mad.
Luo Nianshu poked her again. “Don’t be mad. I’m sorry.”
Qiao Jinyan grumbled but didn’t respond.
Luo Nianshu sighed and leaned over, peeling her hands away.
“What are you doing!” Qiao Jinyan growled, trying to push her off. But Luo Nianshu stayed firm, pressing down like a mountain.
She lowered her head and gently kissed Qiao Jinyan’s lips, imitating the earlier moment: “Stamped.”
Qiao Jinyan froze, only now realizing what just happened. Her eyes narrowed, and she hooked her arms around Luo Nianshu’s neck, smirking seductively. “Now I’m yours.”
She kissed her back. “Return stamp you’re mine, too.”
Luo Nianshu laughed, burying her face into Qiao Jinyan’s hair. “It’s late. Time to sleep.”
She tried to get up, but Qiao Jinyan clung to her neck, refusing to let go.
They stared at each other. There was a deep, silent understanding between them. If Qiao Jinyan gave the smallest hint, Luo Nianshu would understand it immediately.
And if she didn’t, it was only because she was pretending not to.
Luo Nianshu sighed and scooped Qiao Jinyan up again, carrying her to the bed.
“I’ll sleep on the sofa,” she said as she tucked Qiao Jinyan in.
Qiao Jinyan grabbed her hand. “Don’t go.”
“I’m not going far. Just the sofa.” Luo Nianshu gently pried her fingers off, loosened her hair, and lay down on the couch.
Moments later, Qiao Jinyan showed up with a pillow, standing beside the couch, pouting. “I want to sleep with you. Just sleep, I promise.”
“That’s not appropriate.”
“It is,” Qiao Jinyan insisted with a commanding tone.
“I’m tired,” Luo Nianshu rubbed her eyes.
“Then let’s sleep together.”
After a moment of silence, Qiao Jinyan was scooped up once again and carried to the bed. Luo Nianshu got under the covers and held her tight. “Sleep now.”
Qiao Jinyan wriggled in her arms, getting comfy, and then wrapped her arms around Luo Nianshu. “Nianshu, I have a shoot tomorrow. Will you come watch?”
Luo Nianshu pretended to be asleep.
Qiao Jinyan pinched her waist lightly. “Come watch, please?”
“Okay. I’ll come.”
Qiao Jinyan smiled contentedly and finally drifted off to sleep in Luo Nianshu’s arms.
