- Chapter 21 - Screen Couple
“The news online is all rumors. Tang Fu and I have been dating for a long time.”
As Qiao Jinyan’s words left her mouth, the reporters immediately erupted in a clamor.
Luo Nianshu froze on the stairs.
Qiao Jinyan felt a burning gaze fixed on her back. She didn’t dare to turn around, only managed to stand rigid with her back to the gaze, allowing it to closely follow her.
Tang Fu stepped forward, hooking her arm through Qiao Jinyan’s, and smiled at the crowd, saying: “Jinyan is right, we’ve been secretly dating since filming the last movie. All the news on the hot search today is completely false.”
“Then how do you explain those photos?” A female reporter was aggressive.
“PS technology is very advanced these days,” Qiao Jinyan casually pursed her lips. “I will explain the rest in detail at a press conference in the future. That’s all for today. Thank you for your attention.”
Qiao Jinyan took Tang Fu’s hand and turned to walk into the wooden building. Molly and the relevant staff blocked the reporters who were desperately surging forward.
The moment the door was shut, Qiao Jinyan instantly sagged as if deflated. Tang Fu quickly bent down to support her, a concerned expression on her face: “Senior, are you alright?”
Qiao Jinyan shook her head, weakly pushing Tang Fu’s hand away, and stood up to walk up the stairs, meeting Luo Nianshu’s gaze.
Luo Nianshu looked at her. After a long moment, she spoke, her voice slightly hoarse: “Are you hungry? I’ll cook noodles for you.”
There was not a trace of blame in her tone.
Qiao Jinyan’s face turned pale.
She impulsively grabbed Luo Nianshu and hurried her into the room. Molly, who followed closely, almost shrieked in a hushed voice: “Jinyan! You two can’t have any more contact!”
Qiao Jinyan turned back and gave Molly an icy look.
Molly froze: that was the first time Qiao Jinyan had looked at her like that.
Molly didn’t say anything, gripping the railing and watching Qiao Jinyan pull Luo Nianshu into the room.
As soon as the door closed, Luo Nianshu was roughly shoved against the wall.
Luo Nianshu winced in pain and was about to struggle to stand up, but Qiao Jinyan had already pressed close, holding her against the wall and kissing her frantically.
The fervent kisses landed on Luo Nianshu’s lips, eyes, face, and neck… as if Qiao Jinyan wanted to devour her completely.
Luo Nianshu endured it, struggling to calm the person on her, but Qiao Jinyan was relentless, prying open Luo Nianshu’s hands that were held up in front of her, pulling hard, yanking Luo Nianshu’s suit jacket down to her arms.
She kissed even more unrestrainedly.
“Jinyan.” Luo Nianshu gasped, laboriously freeing her hands and struggling to cup Qiao Jinyan’s face: “Calm down.”
Qiao Jinyan stopped moving. She lifted her head, her eyes confused.
“I didn’t want to do this.”
She added: “Nianshu, I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, I understand.” Luo Nianshu hugged Qiao Jinyan, gently patting her back.
“I didn’t want to do this.” She repeated.
“It’s alright. I don’t mind.” Luo Nianshu lightly kissed the top of her head.
Qiao Jinyan’s voice choked: “You might have to put up with things for a while.”
Luo Nianshu shook her head: “It’s no trouble.”
A knock sounded on the door. The two people immersed in sadness hurriedly let go of each other, tidied their clothes, and opened the door.
Molly walked in, glanced at the crestfallen Qiao Jinyan, and then at Luo Nianshu: “You two need to avoid suspicion from now on, try to limit contact. Also, the company has caught the person who spread the rumors.”
Molly’s tone was calm, the word “rumors” rolling off her tongue as if the facts naturally should be so.
“That person is the same as the anti-fan who attacked you two previously.” Molly’s tone became serious: “The company reported it to the police, and the police found a white USB stick in the anti-fan’s room, which contains the photos that were secretly taken of you two on the set these past two days.”
“Jinyan, you were right.” Molly paused, walking over to Qiao Jinyan. Qiao Jinyan didn’t speak, just looked up calmly, waiting for her to continue.
Molly took a deep breath: “Someone definitely wants to bring you down.”
Qiao Jinyan gave a cynical smile: “Not surprised.”
“Also,” Qiao Jinyan said calmly: “I forgot to tell you, Molly, Zhang Weiyin was also involved in the previous clothes-clash incident.”
“The anti-fan incident also happened on Zhang Weiyin’s set,” Luo Nianshu blurted out.
Yes, if the anti-fan and Zhang Weiyin were working together, it would be easy for him to sneak into the set.
Molly’s expression tightened: “I will investigate. Before that…”
Molly looked at Qiao Jinyan, her expression mixing pleading and determination: “Jinyan, I beg you to be rational and keep up the act.”
Qiao Jinyan didn’t speak. After a long time, she slowly nodded.
At the press conference.
Qiao Jinyan and Tang Fu nestled together happily.
Reporters’ microphones were constantly thrust forward.
“Miss Qiao, please explain the photo situation.”
Qiao Jinyan took the microphone: “We have clarified this matter. The photos were maliciously photoshopped by an anti fan. We have already reported it to the police and will pursue legal action in the future.”
“Then what is your relationship with Luo Nianshu? How did you meet?”
Qiao Jinyan’s smile slightly froze but instantly disappeared, too quickly for anyone to notice.
She quickly recovered her happy smile: “I don’t know her.”
“Miss Tang.” A male reporter squeezed forward: “When did you and Miss Qiao fall in love?”
Tang Fu’s face flushed with shyness. This bashfulness alone was enough to convince everyone present of the relationship between Tang Fu and Qiao Jinyan.
“We fell in love while filming our last movie. The CP rumors about us online, and the speculation that Qiao Jinyan came out for me, are actually half true.”
Qiao Jinyan looked over gently.
Tang Fu met her gaze, seizing the opportunity to hold up Qiao Jinyan’s hand. The matching couple rings on their hands caused all the reporters present to gasp.
“I want to say, it’s actually not Qiao Jinyan coming out for me, but me coming out for Qiao Jinyan. All those so-called stunts were not for movie promotion, they were all real.”
Tang Fu suddenly turned around, cupped Qiao Jinyan’s head in front of everyone, and planted a deep kiss on her.
Qiao Jinyan was stunned by the sudden kiss, then quickly reacted, closing her eyes and sweetly accepting Tang Fu’s kiss.
Flash photography non stop lit up the scene. Someone in the crowd started clapping, and immediately after, there was thunderous applause. Wishes and praises arose one after another…
Luo Nianshu turned off the video. She went back to the hot search.
The kiss Tang Fu gave Qiao Jinyan…
Luo Nianshu touched her own lips.
She wasn’t stupid. Any discerning person could tell the sincerity of that kiss.
Her girlfriend was being kissed by her romantic rival.
Luo Nianshu couldn’t breathe for a moment. That kiss felt like a brand iron on her heart.
The news of Qiao Jinyan and Tang Fu going public with their relationship blew up the internet, but the tone of the comments was completely different from the #QiaoJinyanComesOutForHusbandSnatcher trend from a few days ago.
Netizens called Tang Fu and Qiao Jinyan a screen couple.
Netizen A: The CP I ship finally got their happy ending (HE)! A match made in heaven.
Netizen B: It’s great that Sister Tang Fu found someone, but why is the CP Qiao Jinyan of all people?
Netizen C: They’re both wearing the same rings! Does this mean they will get married soon?
Luo Nianshu stared at the screen for a long time, clicked on her Weibo account, and typed a message.
[Netizen E: They are putting on a show.]
She typed it out, pondered for two or three seconds, then deleted it character by character.
Her fingers tapped lightly, and a new line of text appeared.
[Netizen E: Qiao Jinyan doesn’t love Tang Fu.]
The cursor blinked at the end of the text. Luo Nianshu pressed the delete key again.
A new line of text appeared on the screen.
[Netizen E: Luo Nianshu and Qiao Jinyan are the ones who truly love each other.]
Luo Nianshu’s finger hovered over the “Send” button for a moment, then she pressed the delete key again.
Her eyes flickered in the darkness. Slowly, she typed two words in the comment section.
[Netizen E: Congratulations.]
The message showed as sent.
Luo Nianshu tossed her phone aside and lay flat on the bed.
A few days ago, her detailed personal information had been completely removed from the internet. Qiao Jinyan’s management company had protected her information well. At least she hadn’t received any abusive calls in the middle of the night lately.
Her first time making a hot search, and then quickly being taken down, was like a gust of wind, coming and going without a trace, leaving only a hint in people’s memories.
The sound of a key turning in the lock softly sounded. Qiao Jinyan quietly pushed open her door and only walked in after confirming that no one was around.
“Is today’s filming done?” Luo Nianshu asked.
She wasn’t looking at Qiao Jinyan, but staring at the ceiling.
“There’s still a bonfire party scene later.” Qiao Jinyan replied, fumbling around the room: “Why aren’t the lights on?”
Qiao Jinyan flipped the light switch and turned to see the screen of Luo Nianshu’s phone lit up. She frowned.
“Did you see today’s interview?” Qiao Jinyan sat on the edge of the bed, trying to explain.
“That was all acting… Hmm.”
The rest of the words were swallowed whole by Luo Nianshu.
Luo Nianshu kissed her, giving her the sweetest, most desired kiss.
After a long while, Luo Nianshu reluctantly let go of her, and then licked Qiao Jinyan’s lips once more.
“Cleaning complete.” Luo Nianshu smiled, a mischievous smile.
Qiao Jinyan was momentarily stunned, her face turning red. She then reached out, cupped Luo Nianshu’s head, and planted another kiss.
“Sealing the deal.” Qiao Jinyan raised an eyebrow and smiled faintly: “You’re mine.”
Luo Nianshu kissed her again.
“Oh, right.” Qiao Jinyan seemed to recall something. She took out a packet of loose strawberry milk candy from her bag and tucked it into Luo Nianshu’s arms: “I saw it on the way to the set. Don’t you like it? I bought it for you.”
Luo Nianshu tore open the packaging, rummaged inside with her hand, then tilted her head and pouted at Qiao Jinyan: “Feed me, like how I fed you last time.”
Qiao Jinyan blushed and slapped Luo Nianshu: “Shameless!”
“Hurry up.” Luo Nianshu pulled her arm, fidgeting and starting to act spoiled.
“No! Filming is about to start, I need to go downstairs. It’ll be terrible if Molly finds out,” Qiao Jinyan pushed Luo Nianshu away.
“Fine.” Luo Nianshu deliberately licked her lips regretfully.
Qiao Jinyan’s face turned even redder. She stood up, ruffled Luo Nianshu’s hair, said, “Be good,” then adjusted her skirt and walked downstairs.
The room was once again left with only Luo Nianshu.
To avoid suspicion, she could only move around in the small building now, which was almost like being confined.
Luo Nianshu tore open a candy wrapper, tossed the milk candy into the air, and caught it with her mouth.
Delicious.
She smiled contentedly.
Candy bought by her woman was sweeter than anyone else’s.
Luo Nianshu took a few candies and lay down by the window, watching the filming location not far away.
What scene did Qiao Jinyan say she was shooting tonight? A bonfire party?
Luo Nianshu squinted her eyes, looking at the flickering firelight in the distance.
With a loud “BOOM!” sound, machine debris scattered, and the firelight instantly shot up to the sky.
“Fire!”
Dogs barked, people cried out, sirens wailed.
Luo Nianshu’s mind went blank with a buzz.
It was the filming location!
With a “BANG!”, Luo Nianshu knocked the door open and rushed out of the building.
Hundreds of strawberry milk candies were scattered on the floor, bouncing and rolling everywhere.
