After the Foolish Beauty Wore Women's Clothes and Married the Brutal General - Chapter 7.2
Chapter 7.2
“You’re not allowed to bathe in the room or change clothes in the room!” Nan Jianxue said. “Go to the bathhouse to bathe and to another room to change clothes.”
Liang Qifeng nodded.
“Also, you’re not allowed to bring blood inside!” When he said this, Nan Jianxue couldn’t help but frown. “Even a tiny bit is not allowed. You must change your clothes and bathe before you’re allowed in the room!”
Liang Qifeng still nodded.
Nan Jianxue made a few more requests, and Liang Qifeng agreed to all of them. He was so easy to talk to that Nan Jianxue was a little surprised. “You’re really agreeing to all of them?”
Liang Qifeng still nodded.
Most of Nan Jianxue’s requests were not excessive. It was normal for a girl to have concerns about living with a man.
Seeing that he was so easy to talk to, Nan Jianxue was inexplicably touched, and his mood became even better.
He said, “I’ll have Qingqian explain the situation of the manor to you later. You can go to any other place besides this room, and you can use any of the people as you wish.”
Liang Qifeng’s lips curved into a smile. “Is this a slap and then a sweet date?”
Nan Jianxue was amused. “If you say so.”
“It’s not sweet enough,” Liang Qifeng said. “At the very least, you have to give me the key to the storeroom.”
He said this without much expression on his face, and his tone was quite serious, so Nan Jianxue was momentarily unable to tell if he was serious or joking. He said hesitantly, “You really want it?”
Liang Qifeng raised an eyebrow and didn’t say anything.
After thinking for a moment, Nan Jianxue stood up and went to the dressing table. He pulled open the small drawer on the left, took out a key from inside, and handed it to Liang Qifeng. “Keep it safe.”
He was so straightforward that Liang Qifeng was stunned for a moment and even wondered if this person was a fool.
He hesitated to take it and asked, “You’re just giving me the key to the storeroom like this?”
“You’re also half the master of this manor. I’m just giving it to you,” Nan Jianxue gave him a strange look.
Liang Qifeng was a little unable to understand her.
She was so against him becoming her consort, but she didn’t deny him being the other master of the Princess Manor? And last night she was asking him for money, but today she’s giving him the key to the manor’s storeroom?
Nan Jianxue saw his silence and asked, “Is there a problem?”
“I thought you wouldn’t let me manage the affairs of this manor,” Liang Qifeng said.
Nan Jianxue understood and pouted. “Although I didn’t want to marry you, we went through the Three Letters and Six Rites and bowed to each other. Our parents agreed, the government registered us, and heaven and earth have also acknowledged us. We are legitimate husband and wife. So you are already my consort. As long as you don’t make me angry, I am naturally willing to acknowledge you.”
Liang Qifeng smiled. “You are very broad-minded.”
Nan Jianxue raised his chin slightly, looking quite pleased with himself.
Liang Qifeng took the key and asked again, “Aren’t you afraid that I’ll move out all your things?”
Nan Jianxue frowned. “You’re not short of money.”
Liang Qifeng said, “People are always greedy. You were also eyeing my family fortune.”
Nan Jianxue smiled when he heard this. “Then go ahead. For every item you take, I’ll ask my imperial brother for two. Go on, if you have the guts.” He then gave a smug smile. “Besides, there’s nothing particularly rare inside. All the good stuff is in my private treasury!”
Liang Qifeng also smiled.
Looks like he’s not that foolish.
He put the key back and said, “It was just a joke. You should keep it safe yourself.”
Nan Jianxue wasn’t pretentious. He gave the key to Qingqian and told her to put it away, then said, “Anyway, I’ll always leave the key there. You can go and get it yourself if you need it. Of course, it would be even better if you could put things in there!”
With this little exchange, the atmosphere between the two of them was no longer so stiff. Liang Qifeng then said, “There’s something I want your help with.”
Nan Jianxue nodded. “If the money’s right, anything is negotiable.”
Liang Qifeng didn’t beat around the bush and said directly, “Did your imperial brother tell you about my beloved?”
Nan Jianxue didn’t know why he suddenly brought this up. He hesitated and didn’t answer.
Seeing this, Liang Qifeng said, “I overheard it all.”
Nan Jianxue: ?
“Impossible,” Nan Jianxue said. “You had already walked away at that time!”
Liang Qifeng nodded. “So he did tell you.”
Nan Jianxue’s eyes immediately widened. “You tricked me?!”
“Yes,” Liang Qifeng admitted candidly. “But I really did hear it.” He then raised a finger and pointed to his ear. “I’ll teach you something. People who train in martial arts have better hearing than ordinary people. Your imperial brother also knew I could hear.”
Nan Jianxue: “…”
Then why did my imperial brother pretend to cooperate with me when I told him to send him away?!
He’s so evil!
Nan Jianxue was fuming.
Liang Qifeng smiled when he saw this and continued, “After you left, he told me again that he had found my beloved, and that it was someone you know.”
Nan Jianxue looked at him, completely bewildered.
Liang Qifeng then repeated what Nan Zhanyuan had said.
Nan Jianxue was even more confused.
He knew a lot of people, and he had played with many of them. But if he had to add the condition of “male” to the list, that would filter out most of the people.
After thinking for a moment, Nan Jianxue simply listed the names of the playmates he could remember: “The youngest son of Duke Suo, the sons of Prince Rong and Prince Ying, and Fan Hongzhi’s eldest son… I don’t know many men, mostly from the imperial family.”
But Liang Qifeng denied it without even thinking. “No.”
Nan Jianxue was confused. “You’ve never met them.”
“How do you know that?” Liang Qifeng said. “I also attend various banquets.”
“But those are all the people I know,” Nan Jianxue frowned. “Is there a possibility that my imperial brother is tricking you?”
Liang Qifeng looked at him. “What good would tricking me do for him?”
“It could make you more attentive to me,” Nan Jianxue said. “You seem to like your beloved very much.”
Liang Qifeng smiled. “More attentive to you, and then what? We fall in love over time?”
“Exactly,” Nan Jianxue said. “Didn’t you also hear? My imperial brother is wary of you.”
Liang Qifeng fell silent.
Nan Jianxue continued, “As long as you fall in love with me, it will be much easier to control you in the future.”
Liang Qifeng looked at him helplessly. “If that were the case, he would have said it behind my back.”
Nan Jianxue: “…You’re right.”
After saying this, he couldn’t help but frown again. “Then what is he trying to do?”
Liang Qifeng asked, “Do you want to know the reason?”
Nan Jianxue nodded.
Liang Qifeng said, “To put it bluntly, you can’t tie me down, but a child can.”
And having a child doesn’t require love.
The Emperor didn’t need Liang Qifeng to love Nan Jianxue. He just needed Nan Jianxue to give birth to a child who could tie down Liang Qifeng.
Nan Jianxue said, “But he also said it in front of you.”
“He said it for me to hear,” Liang Qifeng said. “He wants to tell me that he will only feel at ease if I have a child with you.”
Nan Jianxue’s expression instantly froze.
Liang Qifeng continued, “As for you… marrying me won’t affect you.”
Even if Nan Jianxue married Liang Qifeng, he would still be the emperor’s most beloved younger sibling, and Nan Jianxue could still live the same life as before.
Compared to the other un-favored princesses, Nan Jianxue’s outcome was already very good. But having this fact so brutally torn open and laid out in front of him still hurt Nan Jianxue.
Nan Jianxue immediately frowned and said with certainty, “My imperial brother wouldn’t do that to me.”
Liang Qifeng didn’t expect him to say that and raised an eyebrow. “You call him ‘imperial brother, imperial brother.’ He is the Emperor first, and your brother second.”
Nan Jianxue frowned. “But my imperial brother dotes on me.”
It was one thing for his imperial brother to have ulterior motives and another for him to scheme against him because of them.
Nan Jianxue could accept the former but couldn’t believe the latter.
He was more willing to believe that his imperial brother had another reason than what Liang Qifeng had just said, even though he couldn’t figure out what that reason was.
Of course, this didn’t mean that he wasn’t hurt by what he had just heard.
Liang Qifeng was silent for a moment.
He was most aware of Nan Zhanyuan’s doting on Nan Jianxue.
How should he put it? This younger sibling was indeed not loved in vain.
“I also don’t think he would do that. He’s not that kind of person,” Liang Qifeng smiled, overturning what he had just said with a single sentence. “So I’m guessing he has another plan, and as for what that plan is… I can’t guess.”
Nan Jianxue also agreed with him. “And it’s definitely not a good thing.” He then paused and added, “At least not entirely.”
Liang Qifeng raised an eyebrow and nodded in agreement. “Maybe he’s just looking for some fun.”
Nan Jianxue: “…”
He lowered his head and said dejectedly, “That’s possible.”
After all, even though his imperial brother doted on him, he had indeed dug a lot of pits for him as he grew up. Since he was like this, Liang Qifeng, as his good brother, was probably being tricked even more.
Nan Jianxue suddenly felt a little sympathetic towards him.
He sat back down and said, “For the sake of this matter, I’ll help you look for your beloved, but this is a separate price! Can you draw a portrait?”
Liang Qifeng said, “I’ve drawn one before.”
“Then you were definitely tricked,” Nan Jianxue said with certainty. “My imperial brother and imperial sister both know the people I know. If they still can’t find this person, then either my imperial brother is lying to you, or my imperial sister is lying to you. You can’t trust either of them.”
Liang Qifeng: “…”
He belatedly realized that this was indeed a possibility.
This matter was probably a lie that that guy told him to make him be nicer to his younger sibling.
He lowered his head and rubbed his forehead, looking tired for once.
This sight made Nan Jianxue laugh.
“Draw it again,” Nan Jianxue said, glancing at Qingqian next to him, and told her to get some paper and a brush. “If he can enter the palace and is not a palace official, then he’s most likely a son from some family. I’ll help you keep an eye out for him.”
