Chapter 17: Thinking of My Beloved.
Nan Jianxue finished the soup dumpling and, seeing that Liang Qifeng still hadn’t eaten, reminded him: “If you don’t eat it now, it’ll get cold.”
Liang Qifeng gave an “Mm.” “You’re not eating anymore?”
“I was already full. If you hadn’t been here tempting me, why would I have eaten another one?” Nan Jianxue frowned. “If I’m overstuffed in a moment, it’s your fault.”
Liang Qifeng thought to himself: Who exactly is tempting whom?
He ate the remaining few. Seeing this, Qingqian asked if he wanted more, but Liang Qifeng waved a hand in refusal.
Qingqian then had the servants clear the table and went to fetch the vase Nan Jianxue had chosen last night.
It was a gall bladder-shaped vase with elegant, flowing lines and a warm, jade-like glaze. The body of the vase depicted rising peaks and ridges shrouded in mountain mist. The painting felt sparse and ethereal. A bright moon on the mountain was even more…
Liang Qifeng suddenly felt something was off. He leaned in for a closer look and discovered that it didn’t seem to be a moon, but rather a slight flaw.
Nan Jianxue also noticed his gaze and smiled. “It was accidentally messed up during the painting. After it was fired, I thought it looked quite nice, so I kept it.”
Liang Qifeng was stunned. “You made this?”
Nan Jianxue shook his head. “I painted it; I’ve only ever made small cups.”
As she spoke, seeing several maidservants enter carrying flowers, leaves, and branches, she stood up to take the branch she had brought back last night.
After a night, the branch had likely lost its ability to glow; it now looked like a bare stick, no different from any ordinary branch. Yet, Nan Jianxue still inserted it into the vase.
Flowers were scarce in this season, so Nan Jianxue had people bring several maple branches. After trimming some leaves with scissors, she fixed them into the vase along with the special branch, added a few chrysanthemums, and finally admired it carefully. She nodded with satisfaction: “Qingqian, go set it up.”
Qingqian acknowledged and immediately carried the vase to the flower stand.
Liang Qifeng hadn’t expected him to like that branch so much and asked, “Should I go break off another for you?”
Nan Jianxue shook his head. “It won’t glow at home anyway. It’s just to commemorate it.”
Liang Qifeng: “…”
He didn’t quite understand Nan Jianxue’s mindset, but he had to admit that once the vase was set out, the room gained a few touches of beautiful vitality.
He then thought of his own room, which was almost entirely bare, and his mood became somewhat complicated. “When you stayed with me before, did you secretly curse me in your heart for having no taste?”
“No,” Nan Jianxue said. “That was your room. Naturally, it should be however you like it.”
Liang Qifeng smiled and was about to say something when a maidservant arrived to report that someone from the palace had arrived.
Nan Jianxue was currently in a “critically ill” state and couldn’t easily see people, so he sent Qingqian.
Qingqian went and returned quickly, holding a small box, her expression not looking very good.
Nan Jianxue froze. “What happened?”
“Medicinal materials bestowed by the palace.” Qingqian handed the box to a nearby maidservant, instructing her to take it to the storehouse. Only then did she look at Nan Jianxue, her voice sounding a bit weak: “The Emperor’s verbal order: the Princess is unwell and does not need to enter the palace for the banquet.”
Nan Jianxue’s expression collapsed instantly. “What?”
“That is… you aren’t going to the Mid-Autumn banquet,” Qingqian said. “You are currently poisoned and so weak you can’t even get out of bed. You truly cannot go.”
Nan Jianxue immediately regretted agreeing to Liang Qifeng’s lousy plan. He looked at Liang Qifeng and said, “Think of a way to make me get better right now!”
Liang Qifeng was stuck between laughter and tears. “Is your health more important, or attending the Mid-Autumn banquet?”
“Both are important,” Nan Jianxue said. “I want to go! The clothes are all ready!”
“Then wait,” Liang Qifeng said. “If the person behind the scenes wants to see you, they will bound to bring the antidote.”
Nan Jianxue instantly wilted. “If they’re a cold-hearted bastard, then I won’t have any fun.”
“They won’t be,” Liang Qifeng said. “Unless our guess is wrong. Otherwise, someone with such an unusual obsession would not pass up this opportunity.”
“I hope so,” Nan Jianxue thought for a bit. “If I can’t go, I’ll host it in the mansion and have Royal Brother and Royal Sister come over!”
Seeing her mood suddenly flip from cloudy to sunny, Liang Qifeng understood why he had been unhappy and smiled.
By noon, another person from the palace arrived; again, it was Qingqian who went to meet them.
“It’s Eunuch Shunxi,” Nan Jianxue said. “He delivered medicine on behalf of the Emperor, saying it was just obtained from a traveling sorcerer.”
Hearing this, Nan Jianxue took the box and opened it. Seeing there was indeed a pill inside, he froze. “It’s actually real? Doesn’t Royal Brother disbelieve in these things? This… can this be eaten?”
Liang Qifeng also found it strange, but he still had someone call for the mansion’s physician to examine the ingredients.
The physician checked it and said the medicine was fine.
“Several precious medicinal materials have been added; there’s no poison. It’s just a pill for strengthening the body,” the physician explained. “The Princess can find someone to test it; it won’t hurt to eat it.”
“There’s no need. Royal Brother wouldn’t harm me.” As Nan Jianxue spoke, he picked up the medicine, tossed it into his mouth, and chewed.
Qingqian immediately cried out in alarm: “Princess! How could you just eat it!!” Then she saw Nan Jianxue open his hand the pill was still in his palm. She let out a sigh of relief and scolded, “Stop scaring me like that!”
“I currently have uncleared poison in me and I’m still taking medicine. Who knows if the medicinal properties would clash? It’s better not to eat it if it’s not necessary.” As Nan Jianxue spoke, he handed the pill to the physician. “Keep this. Next time I see Royal Brother, I’ll ask him about it.”
The physician agreed, took the pill, and left.
Nan Jianxue then said, “Is Royal Brother turning to any doctor he can find in a moment of desperation?”
“Think of it as adding fuel to the fire,” Liang Qifeng explained. “He just saw you last night and went to find a traveling sorcerer today. It shows that you are indeed close to death.”
“But it doesn’t really seem like something Royal Brother would do,” Nan Jianxue said. “No matter how panicked he is, he wouldn’t do something like this.”
Liang Qifeng smiled. “Not everyone understands him that well.”
Nan Jianxue thought that made sense and hoped his brother’s efforts weren’t in vain.
“If that person never comes, will Royal Brother find someone to perform a ritual in my mansion tomorrow?” Nan Jianxue thought for a bit and raised his hand, making a bell-ringing motion. “Soul, come back—”
Liang Qifeng: “…Where did you learn that?”
“I didn’t learn it; I’ve seen it before,” Nan Jianxue said. “There was a case in Jing’an previously involving a dead person coming back to life to harm people. Royal Brother had Royal Sister handle it, and I followed out of curiosity. There was a Taoist priest there who performed a ritual just like that.”
“Jing’an?” Liang Qifeng lowered his eyes and thought for a moment. “That seems to be Princess Jing’an’s fief? Why would Grand Princess Anping be sent to handle it?”
Nan Jianxue suddenly looked at him with a strange expression.
“What is it?” Liang Qifeng asked, puzzled. “Is there a problem?”
Nan Jianxue said, “There’s no law saying whoever’s fief it is must be the one to handle things. There are local officials too.”
“But if someone is sent, it’s usually the person whose fief it is,” Liang Qifeng said. “This wasn’t some sensational major case, yet the Grand Princess had to go personally?”
Nan Jianxue didn’t argue with him but asked, “Do you know who Princess Jing’an is?”
Liang Qifeng shook his head. “You have so many sisters; how could I know them all? Not to mention those who aren’t blood-related.”
Nan Jianxue was speechless. “Jing’an is my fief, and it was also my former title!”
Liang Qifeng froze.
“The late Emperor bestowed it upon me,” Nan Jianxue explained. “After Royal Brother took the throne, he changed my title and gave me a new fief. However, Jing’an is still my territory now. There is a Princess Mansion there too, I just haven’t been to it.”
It was only then that Liang Qifeng realized his understanding of Nan Jianxue was truly meager.
“Why was it changed?” Liang Qifeng asked. “Did you not like the original title?”
“Royal Brother changed it. He said it should be like Royal Sister’s and the others’,” Nan Jianxue said. “Imperial Father never treated me as a child of the Empress.”
Liang Qifeng then understood.
As daughters of the Empress, Princesses Anping and Anyang naturally had much better fiefs than other princesses. But Nan Jianxue was just a child fostered there; to the late Emperor, he was no different from other princesses and naturally wouldn’t be given particularly generous treatment.
“The late Emperor didn’t like you?” Liang Qifeng didn’t quite understand. Nan Jianxue was good-looking, had a pleasant personality, and was so good at acting spoiled; how could the late Emperor not like this daughter?
“It’s that I didn’t like him,” Nan Jianxue said. “When Imperial Father came, I would hide. If I really couldn’t hide, I would lower my head and stay silent. He hated that look on me most, saying I had none of the bearing of a princess. He even spoke to Imperial Mother about it because of that, but she said since I didn’t come from her womb, it was only normal that I didn’t resemble her.”
Liang Qifeng’s brow furrowed slightly.
Seeing him like that, Nan Jianxue smiled. “It’s the truth. I’m not sad. Imperial Mother was good to me; I saw it all. She was just dealing with Imperial Father. She said since I didn’t like him and had nothing to ask of him, there was no need to curry favor with him.”
So while the late Emperor was alive, his treatment wasn’t much different from the other princesses. It was only after his Royal Brother took the throne that he became the currently envied Grand Princess Anle.
“But you actually didn’t know,” Nan Jianxue continued. “This matter is considered a bit of… a charming story in the capital.”
“I am rarely in the capital,” Liang Qifeng said. “The news sent from the capital to the border wouldn’t mention things like this.”
Nan Jianxue thought that made sense.
“Then you just don’t understand Royal Brother’s thoughts,” Nan Jianxue said.
Liang Qifeng fell silent. He indeed didn’t have much interest in Nan Zhanyuan’s various sisters; his impression of Nan Jianxue remained at the level of the “cute younger sister” Nan Zhanyuan occasionally mentioned. But at the time, he only thought Nan Zhanyuan was annoying for always talking about his sister. Sometimes, when in a bad mood, he would even make a few sharp remarks.
But things were different now.
Just as Liang Qifeng was considering whether to go find Nan Zhanyuan for a drink in the afternoon, another maidservant came to report that someone wanted to see Nan Jianxue.
Nan Jianxue was puzzled: “Why is it so lively today?”
Although her mansion was always lively, she had previously given orders not to see anyone, so visiting subordinates would usually be sent away. For someone to come specifically, it must be someone special.
“Is it someone from Royal Sister?” Nan Jianxue asked.
The maidservant shook her head, her expression a bit strange: “It’s a family of seven. They say they are the Princess’s maternal family and request to see Princess Jing’an.”
Nan Jianxue was stunned for a few breaths before realizing what “maternal family” referred to, and his expression also became a bit strange. And “Jing’an”… he had just been talking about it with Liang Qifeng, and now someone had mentioned it.
He hesitated and looked at Liang Qifeng: “Should I see them?”
Liang Qifeng froze. “Asking me?”
“Who else?” Nan Jianxue said. “I’ve never met anyone from my mother’s family. For a few people to suddenly pop up is very strange.”
Liang Qifeng understood and asked, “Do you want to see them?”
Nan Jianxue thought for a bit. Ordinarily, he would definitely want to see them not because of emotion, but out of pure curiosity about what his mother’s family was like. He had heard her say that his maternal grandfather was a famous handsome man in the surrounding villages, and his grandmother was a lady from an official family who was willing to marry a poor scholar solely because of his looks. His mother took after her father, so she was also beautiful.
By logic, his grandfather should look very much like him.
But the current situation was special. After hesitating for a while, Nan Jianxue shook his head slightly: “Maybe later.”
Seeing this, Liang Qifeng said, “See them.”
Nan Jianxue still shook his head: “Important business takes priority.”
“This is important business,” Liang Qifeng explained. “They’ve never seen you before, and to suddenly come at this juncture is very suspicious.”
Nan Jianxue understood. “You suspect they are impostors?”
Liang Qifeng nodded. “What if they’ve come to confirm your condition?”
“It’s easy to expose,” Nan Jianxue said. “Something like this can be found out with a single check.”
“Checking takes time, but they only need to find a way to see you once,” Liang Qifeng said. “By the time things are found out, they’ll be long gone.”
Nan Jianxue thought again and nodded. “Alright then, but I want to see them.”
Liang Qifeng lowered his eyes and thought: “How about you dress up as a maid?”
Nan Jianxue pointed at his own face: “Wouldn’t that be exposed instantly?” He paused, suddenly remembering something. “Do you know how to use disguises?”
Liang Qifeng: “Yes.”
“Then disguise me!” Nan Jianxue said. “Then I’ll dress as a maid and go with you.”
“It’s not that easy,” Liang Qifeng said, stuck between laughter and tears. “Disguises require preparation in advance.”
Nan Jianxue frowned. “But in the stories I read, a mask is just slapped on and that’s it.”
“You know those are stories,” Liang Qifeng said helplessly. “If it really doesn’t work, you can sneak a few looks when they aren’t paying attention.”
Nan Jianxue was reluctant.
Liang Qifeng had no choice but to try another way: “Or simply punch a hole in the wall.”
Nan Jianxue thought this method was quite good and immediately ordered people to do it.
Liang Qifeng went back to change his clothes and waited until the wall was chiseled before letting the people in.
At first, he truly thought those who came must be scammers, but after seeing the appearance of the newcomers, he began to waver.
Nan Jianxue looked in from the outside. Upon seeing the faces of those few people, he couldn’t help but widen his eyes.
Leading them was an elderly couple with white hair; they looked to be in good spirits. The woman had a very kind and gentle face. The man… though old, one could vaguely see the charisma of his youth from his features. He had definitely been a very handsome man. Most importantly, he and Nan Jianxue truly shared some similarities.
But if one were to speak of resemblance, it was the man following behind him they were at least forty to fifty percent alike. If the mouth and nose were covered, they might be even more similar.
Nan Jianxue looked at Qingqian beside him in horror and said in an extremely low voice, “It seems like it’s real!”
Qingqian also leaned over to take a look through the small hole. After looking, her face showed the same expression as Nan Jianxue’s. The two immediately pricked up their ears to listen to the voices in the room.
The man introduced himself, saying his name was Jiang Dai. Standing beside him were his wife and descendants. The man who looked very much like Nan Jianxue was his son—Nan Jianxue’s uncle. Also with them were his daughter, daughter-in-law, and a pair of children.
Liang Qifeng listened quietly to their introductions, frowning without responding, seemingly lost in thought. His aura was already strong; when he had no expression, he looked a bit fierce, and when he frowned, he was even more terrifying. Seeing this, the seven people were somewhat afraid, and the small child even started crying in fear.
The crying pulled Liang Qifeng back from his thoughts. His gaze fell on Jiang Dai, and he said, “The Princess has been unwell recently and cannot receive guests.”
Hearing this, Jiang Dai immediately said, “We know. It’s being spread everywhere that Jing’an… Princess Anle has been… poisoned, and her life is uncertain. That’s why we wanted to come and see.”
Liang Qifeng’s face still held no expression. Hearing this, he said in a cold voice, “See her, and then what?”
Jiang Dai froze. Meeting Liang Qifeng’s scrutinizing gaze, he hurriedly explained, “We just… just wanted to see the Princess on behalf of Wanwan.”
Hearing that name, Nan Jianxue froze. That was his mother’s childhood name, but no one in the palace would call her that. He only found out that name after his mother passed away.
“You haven’t seen her for so many years, and suddenly you come to see her?” As Liang Qifeng spoke, his voice suddenly turned cold, even carrying a hint of killing intent. “I think you’ve come to see her for the last time.”
The group was startled by this sudden change in attitude. It felt less like he was questioning them and more like a threat. One of the timid ones knelt down directly with a “thud.” Only Jiang Dai still held onto some courage, saying in a trembling voice, “We only… only wanted to see the Princess, see our relative. We have no other intentions. Please, General, see… see the truth.”
Liang Qifeng did not answer, just looked at him, his gaze growing colder, coiling around Jiang Dai like a venomous snake. Jiang Dai’s breath hitched, fine sweat breaking out on his forehead. He didn’t dare look at him anymore, just lowered his head and didn’t dare to speak.
Nan Jianxue, hiding by the wall, watched in awe and whispered to Qingqian, “I wish I could be as intimidating as Liang Qifeng.”
Qingqian was puzzled: “Who does the Princess want to intimidate?”
Nan Jianxue paused. “No one, just… it’s so cool. I want it too!”
Qingqian: “Next time you appear, bring all the mansion’s guards with you; everyone will be afraid of you too.”
“That’s ‘the fox borrowing the tiger’s terror’ (exploiting others’ power); it’s not the same as what I want.” As Nan Jianxue spoke, he put his eye back to the hole and saw Liang Qifeng’s expression suddenly soften, and he even smiled.
Nan Jianxue could tell from the laugh that he was actually in a good mood, but the Jiang family clearly didn’t think so. Hearing him laugh, they all knelt down with a “thud,” and even the child didn’t dare to cry anymore.
Nan Jianxue clicked his tongue and shook his head—truly a god of slaughter.
“Then I’ll let you have a look.” Liang Qifeng said, glancing at the group. “The Princess’s bedchamber only women may enter. Which of you will go?”
Hearing this, Jiang Dai’s shoulders relaxed slightly. He cautiously raised his hand to wipe away some sweat, his gaze falling on the daughter beside him. He whispered, “Yanyan, you go.”
Jiang Qiuyan showed a look of alarm. She quickly raised her head to glance at Liang Qifeng, and seeing no change in his expression, she stood up tremblingly.
“What’s the rush?” Liang Qifeng said coolly. “We must inform the Princess first.”
He then casually pointed to a maidservant standing nearby: “You, go.”
The maidservant acknowledged and turned to walk toward the main courtyard.
Nan Jianxue moved even faster. Hearing that Liang Qifeng was going to let someone over, he immediately picked up his skirts and ran back. By the time the maidservant arrived slowly, he was already sitting in front of the mirror, applying powder to his face.
“Too white,” Qingqian reminded him. “Just a little is enough. We need to cover the lips too.”
Nan Jianxue turned his face over to let Qingqian cover it. Once the sickly appearance was painted on, he took off his outer garment, scrambled onto the bed, and pulled up the covers.
Only then did Qingqian instruct the maidservant: “You may have the person come over.”
The maidservant acknowledged, turned to leave, and soon brought Jiang Qiuyan over.
Seeing Nan Jianxue lying on the bed, Jiang Qiuyan froze for a few breaths. Hearing Qingqian say “Why haven’t you paid respects upon seeing the Princess,” she hurriedly knelt.
Nan Jianxue only glanced at her, then asked in a very low voice: “You are my… aunt?”
Jiang Qiuyan gave a soft “Yes” and repeated Jiang Dai’s explanation.
Hearing this, Nan Jianxue gave a very soft laugh: “To be able to see you all… before death… is truly good.”
His voice was very soft, so soft it seemed like only breath. Jiang Qiuyan had to concentrate very hard to hear it, but once she heard clearly, her face changed instantly. She said anxiously, “You mustn’t say such unlucky things! The Princess is blessed by heaven; you will surely be fine!!”
Nan Jianxue appraised her tone, looking at the anxiety in her eyes that didn’t seem faked. Suddenly, he was a bit confused. Was it truly as she said—they found out he was in trouble and hurried over for fear of not seeing him for the last time?
But even for a trip like this, there must be a reason, right?
If it were for emotion he had never met these relatives and had no feelings for them at all. Even if it were through his mother… she had been gone for so many years and these people had never appeared; to speak of emotion now was too far-fetched.
If it were for profit although he was favored, a title couldn’t be inherited. Even if it could, that would be for his children; it couldn’t possibly fall to the Jiang family.
Could they have come to sponge off him?
Nan Jianxue thought for a moment with lowered eyes and gave a look to Qingqian.
Qingqian immediately understood, walked to the bedside, and said softly: “I’ll go get some medicine. The Princess should take a little; you’ll only have the energy to talk to your aunt if you’re spirited.”
Nan Jianxue shook his head very slightly, his lips moving, his voice even softer.
Jiang Qiuyan listened carefully and faintly heard her say: “…Over. It hurts more.”
Qingqian frowned upon hearing this: “But if you don’t speak now…” She hurriedly spat out “Pah” several times, “Then we’ll wait until the Princess is better.”
Nan Jianxue gave a few more instructions in a small voice, telling her to settle the people first.
Qingqian let out a very soft sigh, walked to Jiang Qiuyan’s side, and said lowly: “Please come with me.”
Hearing this, Jiang Qiuyan stood up and looked at Nan Jianxue again. She saw that she had already closed her eyes and fallen asleep, her brow tightly furrowed, her face deathly pale. If she hadn’t just heard her speak, Jiang Qiuyan would have thought she had already stopped breathing.
Frowning, she followed Qingqian out of the room. On the way, she couldn’t help but ask in a low voice: “Can the Princess… get better?”
Qingqian glanced at her and sighed with deep worry, but said no more.
Jiang Qiuyan pressed further with a few more questions. Only then did Qingqian hesitate to speak: “You are the Princess’s aunt, so you’re one of our own. I won’t hide it from you. The Emperor has found many imperial physicians to come, and the General has also sought famous doctors from among the people, but all were helpless.
I privately inquired with the mansion’s physician, and he said the Princess is likely… it’s just that everyone is afraid of the Emperor’s blame, so no one has dared to say much. Today, the Princess couldn’t even eat anything; just those two sips of water. I don’t know how long she can hold on.”
She finished speaking, and seeing the anxious look on Jiang Qiuyan’s face, she suppressed the strangeness in her heart and led her back to the front hall.
Liang Qifeng was chatting with the Jiang family. Calling it chatting wasn’t quite accurate; more accurately, he was asking and the Jiang family was answering. Listening to his cold tone if the Jiang family weren’t all sitting—changing “asking” to “interrogating” would have been appropriate.
Qingqian led the person over and said softly to Liang Qifeng: “The Princess can only say a few words. She told me to settle the people first and wait… wait for later.”
Liang Qifeng frowned upon hearing this: “They are all the Princess’s relatives. Arrange things well. I will go see the Princess.”
Qingqian agreed, and Liang Qifeng got up, left the main hall, and returned to the main courtyard.
Nan Jianxue had already gotten up from the bed. Shuying was holding a cloth, wiping the powder from her face with unpracticed movements. She hadn’t served people much before, so her hand was heavy and lacked precision; wiping the face was like scrubbing a wall.
Nan Jianxue was being tortured by her and wailed: “Forget it, I’ll do it myself!”
As she spoke, she reached out to take the cloth, but Liang Qifeng took it first.
“You may go,” Liang Qifeng said. He took over Shuying’s job of wiping Nan Jianxue’s face. He wiped very carefully, his movements light, and his expression was even gentle.
Nan Jianxue still let out a cry, saying angrily: “Your hand is even stronger than Shuying’s! Go away!”
Having said that, he snatched the cloth away and rubbed his face heavily a few times.
Liang Qifeng stood to the side a bit awkwardly. When she finished wiping, he coughed and said, “There’s still a bit here.” As he spoke, he pointed near Nan Jianxue’s jawline.
Nan Jianxue wiped it again and then handed the cloth to him: “How is it?”
Liang Qifeng took the cloth and threw it from a distance, landing it accurately in the basin. He said, “Nothing much. They said they’ve been living in Jing’an and intended to find you when you returned to your fief, but they never waited long enough. They heard you were ill and hurried over.”
“It sounds suspicious everywhere,” Nan Jianxue said. “But they don’t seem fake either. You saw just now, right? That uncle of mine looks quite a bit like me. My grandfather is alright, but my mother looked very much like him. If they weren’t relatives, how could they look so similar!”
Liang Qifeng nodded. “I saw. I was also very… surprised. Didn’t you notice? Your male cousin also looks somewhat similar to you.”
Nan Jianxue was a bit puzzled: “Really? I didn’t pay much attention; I was busy looking at my uncle.”
“Yes,” Liang Qifeng said. “And he looks even more like someone else.”
Nan Jianxue looked at him strangely.
Liang Qifeng didn’t answer but looked at him fixedly.
Nan Jianxue: ?
“What is it?” Nan Jianxue frowned and thought carefully. He felt he should understand, but he truly couldn’t catch the thought at the moment. He could only turn the conversation back to Liang Qifeng, “Are you going to tell me or not?”
Liang Qifeng gave a laugh: “I just suddenly thought of my beloved.”
Nan Jianxue: ?
“What happened to your beloved?” Nan Jianxue was still dazed. Recalling the person he had helped him draw before, his expression changed instantly.
Seeing that she seemed to understand, Liang Qifeng curved his lips slightly.
“My beloved might be a woman in men’s clothing.”
“Your beloved is that male cousin of mine?!”
The two spoke almost simultaneously, then fell into silence together, a giant question mark popping up in both their minds.
After a long pause, Nan Jianxue changed his words: “Then it’s a female cousin?”
Liang Qifeng was instantly angered into laughter: “You little idiot.”
