Chapter 3: Outcome of the Situation
The WeChat message pop-up didn’t last long. By the time Wen Xi blinked again, the message had disappeared, leaving only the WeChat icon in the top left corner of the screen.
She looked at her chat page with Tan Lan, sighed imperceptibly, and tried her best to ignore the icon.
T.T: “It’s okay, Sister Tan. Thank you for your trouble.”
Yu Qiao waited until Wen Xi finished sending the message before speaking. “Do you want to see her?”
Wen Xi’s movements paused. She lowered her head and didn’t respond.
Yu Qiao continued, “Shen Yu will definitely make a move. If you don’t want to see her, don’t go to the studio recently, and don’t stay here either. Will you come to my place?”
Wen Xi thought for a moment, then shook her head. “If she really wants to find me, I won’t be able to hide.”
Wen Xi was too familiar with Shen Yu; she would never give up until she achieved her goal.
That was why she worked so hard and diligently, allowing her to gain such fame at the age of 28.
When preparing for the art entrance exam in the past, Shen Yu would also set a goal for herself every once in a while and insist on training until she was satisfied.
She often lost track of time when training. After Wen Xi told her and found she wouldn’t listen, Wen Xi simply started preparing lunch boxes for Shen Yu from time to time.
Shen Yu would then eat dinner while looking at her and smiling, “It’s a good thing I have you, or I’d be starving again today.”
Wen Xi held her phone in her hand, but her mind began to uncontrollably think of her again.
Yu Qiao saw Wen Xi’s vacant expression and knew she had started drifting off again.
“That’s not necessarily true,” Yu Qiao lowered her eyes. “She’s entering a film crew in a few days and will be there for over two months.”
“…Is that so,” Wen Xi blinked and said in a low voice.
Yu Qiao felt she had conveyed most of what needed to be said and didn’t stay any longer.
Besides, the main reason she came to find Wen Xi was that Wen Xi hadn’t answered her phone, which worried her a little.
Before leaving, Yu Qiao emphasized to Wen Xi again not to go out for the next few days.
Wen Xi’s apartment had excellent security. Both the community entrance and the apartment building entrance had facial recognition systems. The elevator was one household per floor, and the owner could choose to set a password lock if they didn’t mind the trouble.
So, compared to Wen Xi going out, Yu Qiao wasn’t worried that Shen Yu would sneak into the apartment to find her.
Shen Yu was a public figure, and a big scandal wouldn’t look good.
Even if Shen Yu was highly capable, she was entering a film crew in a few days, and Yu Qiao guessed she wouldn’t have much time to cause trouble.
Yu Qiao didn’t want to ask Wen Xi any more questions about Shen Yu. Wen Xi wasn’t a child; she could handle things herself.
Moreover, matters concerning this topic were like a thorn in both their hearts.
After Yu Qiao left, Wen Xi lay sideways on the sofa, staring intently at her phone.
Her phone screen had changed to the friend request from Shen Yu on her secondary WeChat account.
Wen Xi still couldn’t resist clicking on that page.
Shen Yu’s WeChat was her private account. The profile picture was a doll lying on the ground, with no signature written, the Moments were visible for three days, and the background was an ocean scene; the whole page was clean and simple.
As for why Wen Xi was certain this was the private account…
It had been ten years, and Shen Yu hadn’t changed her WeChat ID.
Wen Xi remembered that string of characters firmly in her heart and had secretly searched for it when she missed Shen Yu.
Wen Xi knew she couldn’t avoid it, but she genuinely didn’t know how to face Shen Yu right now.
They hadn’t seen each other in ten years. Even if those messy things were over, Wen Xi’s active breakup was a real blow to Shen Yu.
She couldn’t just actively go and say, I’m sorry, it happened for a reason back then, I didn’t mean to break up, let’s get back together.
…That made no sense.
Forget it.
Wen Xi swiped her finger, exiting WeChat from the background.
Shen Yu had become hugely popular over the years, and Wen Xi saw the words “Shen Yu” on many social platforms.
But when those two words appeared in the WeChat friend request column, her heart began to beat uncontrollably again.
This feeling hadn’t appeared in too long.
She switched back to Weibo. She hadn’t looked at it too carefully when Yu Qiao was here.
Looking at it now, she found that her Weibo post had already received nearly a million likes.
The rate of increasing followers hadn’t stopped, though most of them were likely just here to join the excitement.
Wen Xi thought, she was riding on Shen Yu’s fame now.
There weren’t many private messages, mostly her fans trying to comfort her because they saw how much she was being criticized.
Wen Xi had been criticized a lot over the years—blame shifted by collaborators, dissatisfaction from fans of collaborating celebrities, jealous peers…
After all this time, she was no longer afraid of criticism.
Wen Xi pursed her lips and randomly selected a few fans to reply to in private messages.
She knew her fans were well-meaning.
Wen Xi continued scrolling through her private messages.
Messages from people she didn’t follow were grouped into a message board by Weibo and required clicking to view.
Messages from people she followed and from fans she had replied to were much more visible, but the quantity was still substantial.
…Wait, hold on.
Wen Xi’s hand, scrolling the phone, stopped.
Wen Xi slightly widened her eyes, suddenly sat up straight, and saw a familiar profile picture appear in her private messages.
Wen Xi saw that profile picture daily, not to mention the gold V certification next to the profile picture.
It turned out that Shen Yu had sent her a private message on Weibo last night.
However, because Wen Xi had received quite a few private messages from her Weibo friends and fans she had replied to, Shen Yu’s message had sunk, and she hadn’t noticed it immediately.
Shen Yu V: “Wen Xi?”
Wen Xi suddenly felt a little hot.
She clicked on Shen Yu’s profile picture, and the page immediately jumped to Shen Yu’s homepage. The moment it opened, she saw their two Weibo profile pictures briefly ‘collide’.
“Congratulations, you are now mutually followed friends.”
Wen Xi jumped directly up from the sofa.
What? Mutually followed friends?!
Why would she… at this critical moment?
Before Wen Xi could think further, Shen Yu sent another message.
Shen Yu V: “I saw you online. So, when will Teacher T approve my friend request?”
General big bloggers have their own Super Topic, and after the topic is bound to the person, the blogger’s online and offline times can be seen.
Wen Xi briefly closed her eyes. How could she forget this detail?
Shen Yu was clearly monitoring her Super Topic to see when she came online.
Wen Xi felt a moment of exasperation.
Ten years had passed. She believed she had been cruel enough back then, so why could Shen Yu still act as if nothing had happened?
Shen Yu should hate her deeply.
Yet now, she seemed to be treating her like a long-lost friend.
Wen Xi decided to pretend she hadn’t seen Shen Yu’s message.
Within a few minutes, Pu Tao’s call came in.
Wen Xi: “…”
I’m so tired. Why are so many things piling up?
Although Wen Xi thought this, she couldn’t ignore her assistant’s call.
“Boss! You’re awake! How are you feeling right now? Are you uncomfortable?” Pu Tao’s worried voice came through. “And also, don’t worry about the trending topics. Those keyboard warriors just love to act crazy online.”
Pu Tao’s concern in the first half of the sentence was because Wen Xi’s condition hadn’t seemed right last night.
“I’m fine, don’t worry,” Wen Xi paused for a few seconds, then asked what was on her mind, “Did Teacher Shen Yu… contact you?”
Pu Tao said, “Yes, Teacher Shen Yu’s manager contacted me.”
“Hmm,” Wen Xi had guessed this. Since she hadn’t approved Shen Yu’s WeChat, Shen Yu wouldn’t just sit and wait indefinitely. “What did they say?”
“Oh, her manager also told you not to worry about the trending topics. It’s nothing major, just leave it to them.”
Hearing this, Wen Xi felt inexplicably uneasy, but there was nothing she could do. She exchanged a few more casual words with Pu Tao and then hung up the phone.
However, before hanging up, Wen Xi thought she heard Pu Tao about to say something else, but her hand was faster than her brain, and she just hung up.
Seeing that Pu Tao didn’t call back, Wen Xi assumed it wasn’t anything important and decided to ignore it.
Yu Qiao had helped her tidy up the empty wine bottles on the table and taken them out when she left.
Wen Xi looked at the empty coffee table and realized her stomach felt empty too. With slight irritation, she tossed her phone aside, intending to wash up and grab something to eat to line her stomach.
When she wasn’t working, her three meals were easy to manage. Breakfast was usually some bread with milk or coffee. Lunch and dinner were either takeout she ordered herself or meals Pu Tao brought her from outside restaurants.
The kitchen in her home was practically unused.
Wen Xi still felt a bit dizzy, so she made a glass of honey water to go with dry bread.
Not long after, an unexpected knock sounded at the door.
The sudden noise startled the bread in Wen Xi’s hand, causing it to drop onto the plate.
Wen Xi’s heart also leaped suddenly.
A thought quietly arose.
Could it be Shen Yu? How could she have arrived so quickly?
Wen Xi couldn’t be blamed for overthinking. Primarily, Shen Yu had just sent her a message, and Wen Xi had always known how strong Shen Yu’s ability to act was.
Her heart was pounding so strangely it affected her ability to think, and for a moment, she forgot how difficult it was for outsiders to enter her apartment building.
Wen Xi didn’t pay attention as she stood up in a hurry, and the chair scraped against the floor, making an unpleasant screeching sound.
The knocking paused for a moment, and the next second, Pu Tao’s voice suddenly rang out.
“Boss! What was that sound! Boss, are you okay?”
Wen Xi’s heart instantly dropped back into place. She raised a hand to her forehead in exasperation, unsure of her mood. “I’m fine. Wait for me.”
Wen Xi walked over and opened the door for Pu Tao, seeing Pu Tao coming in with several bags.
Pu Tao: “I saw you weren’t feeling well yesterday, so I thought I’d come over early. Since it was still early, I bought some breakfast I know you like.”
As she spoke, Pu Tao saw the bread on the table, picked it up, and said, “What’s good about this bread? You need to eat a hot breakfast.”
Wen Xi sat back down in her chair, not in a good mood. After Pu Tao brought out two new sets of bowls and chopsticks, Wen Xi picked up a meat bun and said, “Why did you come over without saying anything? We just talked on the phone.”
Pu Tao finally realized. She raised a hand and slapped her head in annoyance. “Did I scare you just now? I’m sorry, Boss. I meant to tell you, but the call ended too quickly.”
Wen Xi was amused by Pu Tao’s action and waved her hand. “It’s fine, nothing happened.”
She pulled out the chair on the other side. “You sit down quickly too.”
Pu Tao nodded eagerly. After sitting down, she also took a meat bun and started chewing.
“About those trending topics… Why hasn’t Teacher Shen Yu’s side made a move yet?” Wen Xi asked casually, then added, “After all, she’s being criticized because of me.”
Pu Tao swallowed the bun in her mouth, thought for a moment, and said, “They should be moving soon.”
It was indeed soon. By the time they finished breakfast, they had already seen the “outcome of the situation.”
The trending topics related to Shen Yu had not only not decreased but had several more entries, firmly dominating the top spots.
But this time, the difference was that Wen Xi’s name was also included in the titles.

#ShenYu’s High-Profile “confession” To Twilight, Looking Forward To Future Collaboration#
Wen Xi closed her eyes, quickly and decisively closing her phone.
Shen Yu had always been very low-key all these years. Her fans must be going wild, having never seen a situation like this.
She had never thought of Shen Yu as a high-profile person, but with Shen Yu’s recent actions, the trending topics had directly tied both their names together, making it impossible for her not to respond.
This was forcing her to respond.
Thinking about those trending titles, Wen Xi didn’t even need to look further to guess what Shen Yu had done.
Pu Tao’s exclamations hadn’t stopped. “Boss! You actually succeeded in chasing your idol! Look quickly, Teacher Shen is praising you in your comments section!”
Pu Tao was a little excited and didn’t pay much attention to Wen Xi’s change in mood, quickly handing her phone to Wen Xi.
Wen Xi couldn’t control herself and subconsciously moved her gaze to Pu Tao’s phone screen.
Now, the top comment on her Weibo post had become Shen Yu’s.
[Shen Yu: Thank you, Teacher Twilight, for the photoshoot. It was very beautiful. I haven’t really tried this style before, but it gave me great inspiration. Looking forward to our next collaboration?]
“Look! Shen Yu even said she wants to collaborate with you!!” Pu Tao yelled excitedly.
Wen Xi was silent for a moment.
In her heart, she thought, Shen Yu is a liar. She has totally done photoshoots in this style before…
