After the Fake Young Master Betrayed the Australian Farmer - Chapter 35
“Adams Wilson, keep your place.”
Han Yan glanced at Adams’ increasingly grim expression and cursed internally. Xie Yu was truly born to be his nemesis.
When they skipped class to eat spicy hot pot, Xie Yu was the one who ran too slowly, causing Han Yan to get caught by the teacher. During all-nighters at the internet cafe, Xie Yu was the one who kept dying, causing Han Yan to suffer a losing streak all night. When singing about friendship together, Xie Yu was the one who was tone-deaf, causing Han Yan to lose his pitch for the first time in his life. Now, Xie Yu was saying such ambiguous things. Was he intentionally trying to make sure Han Yan could not get out of bed tomorrow?
He pulled Adams by the arm and bypassed Xie Yu, who was still standing at the door, acting as if he did not want to deal with him. However, Xie Yu followed them like a lost puppy, repeatedly calling out Han Yan’s name.
Han Yan felt as if his ears were growing callouses from the noise. He turned around and frowned at Xie Yu. “Why are you following me? Go back to your private room.”
Xie Yu blinked and suddenly grabbed Han Yan’s arm, shouting discontentedly, “No! I finally caught you. I want to sleep with you tonight!”
“No!” “No!”
Two voices rang out simultaneously.
Adams’ mouth tightened into a straight line. He firmly pried Xie Yu’s fingers away to rescue Han Yan’s arm. He pulled Han Yan behind him, looked down at Xie Yu, and said in a deep voice, “Get lost.”
Had Xie Yu been sober, he might have been too intimidated by Adams’ terrifying aura and overwhelming pressure to speak. But a drunk Xie Yu feared nothing. In the heat of the moment, he decided to confront him directly.
“You tell me to get lost and I just do it? Do you think I am a ball? Why the hell should I get lost?”
Seeing the tension between the two escalate, Han Yan rubbed his forehead in frustration. He really should have checked his horoscope before leaving the house today.
A door to a nearby private room opened, and a head popped out. The commotion outside was so loud that even Han Jue could hear it from inside. Driven by curiosity, he opened the door to investigate and was surprised to find familiar faces.
“What is going on? Why is Xie Yu here too?” Han Jue walked over to Han Yan, looking confused at the standoff between Xie Yu and Adams.
“I do not know. We ran into him by accident in the restroom. He seems completely wasted. He will not leave and followed us all the way here,” Han Yan explained, his voice sounding exhausted.
He spoke briefly to Han Jue and then went to the front desk. He had intended to find Xie Yu’s room number and send him back to his companions, but it turned out the man had come alone. He could not simply leave him there in that state.
Han Jue called a few other young men from their circle to help carry Xie Yu away. After hanging up, Han Yan prepared to take the intoxicated Fang Jianan back with Adams, leaving Han Jue to look after Xie Yu.
“Will you be okay alone?” Han Yan asked before leaving. Han Jue nodded, holding onto the struggling Xie Yu with a grip so tight the veins on his neck were bulging.
“It is fine. I can manage. You guys should go quickly before you run into the others.”
Han Yan did not want to encounter his old group of friends, so he and Adams dragged the dead drunk Fang Jianan away, ignoring Xie Yu’s shouts behind them.
Since Adams had driven, he had not touched a drop of alcohol at the KTV. Together, they loaded Fang Jianan into the back seat. Once they were in the car and the doors were closed, the noise from outside was finally blocked out. The world was finally quiet.
No one spoke in the car for a while. The only sounds were their heavy breathing and the slight snoring from the back seat.
“Fang Jianan drank too much. Let him sleep at our place for the night.”
Adams buckled his seatbelt, gave a short grunt of agreement, and started the car. Han Yan caught a glimpse of Adams’ cold and tense profile. He rubbed his temples and closed his eyes to rest.
When getting out of the car, Han Yan was distracted, and his phone slid out of his pocket and hit the ground. He cursed under his breath and bent down to pick it up. Seeing the prominent crack on the screen, he took a deep breath. He shoved the phone back into his pocket and helped Adams carry the sleeping Fang Jianan inside, tossing him onto the sofa.
Han Yan pulled at his collar. He was covered in sweat and felt uncomfortably sticky. He walked into the bathroom, but just as he lifted the hem of his shirt, a strong force tightly gripped his waist, and a heat pressed against his back.
“What are you doing?”
Han Yan looked into the mirror. Adams was leaning his head on Han Yan’s shoulder, his veins bulging on the hand wrapped around Han Yan’s waist. The grip was so tight it almost made him gag. He patted Adams’ hand. “Let go. You are choking me.”
Adams did not say a word. He reached down with his other hand. A low groan escaped Han Yan’s lips. He grabbed Adams’ wrist and gave him a symbolic nudge with his elbow.
“Do not do this. Fang Jianan is still outside. I do not want to do it today.”
Adams’ body froze. In a fit of suppressed anger, he bit down on Han Yan’s shoulder. Han Yan hissed in pain and struggled to break free, but he was held firmly in place. He felt like prey pinned down by the fangs of a predator. The feeling of being unable to resist made him incredibly irritated, and a wave of frustration surged in his heart.
He stopped holding back and used all his strength to elbow the other man’s stomach. Adams groaned and instinctively loosened his grip. Han Yan seized the opportunity to turn around and slam Adams against the wall. He grabbed Adams’ face and stared straight into his eyes, saying each word clearly, “I said I do not want to do it.”
Adams looked at him with dark, deep eyes and spoke with difficulty, “Then who do you want to do it with?”
“What?”
“Is it that Xie Yu, or the people he introduced to you?”
So that was what this was about. Han Yan closed his eyes and forced himself to stay calm. After taking a few deep breaths, he reopened his eyes. The turbulent emotions in his gaze had been suppressed, replaced by a cold calm.
“First of all, Xie Yu and I grew up together. There is nothing between us.”
Adams clearly did not believe him. “But he said he wanted to sleep with you!”
“You believe the words of a drunk? Even when we were kids, I never shared a bed with him. Whenever he stayed at my house, he either stayed in the guest room or on the floor of my room!” Han Yan cursed Xie Yu a hundred times in his mind. That man’s habit of talking nonsense while drunk was going to be the death of him.
Adams remained silent for a moment and pursed his lips. “What about the people he introduced to you? How many of them have you slept with? One? Two? Or all of them?”
Faced with Adams’ questioning, Han Yan felt like laughing. Their current relationship was nothing more than being friends with benefits, yet Adams was acting as if he held the position of a legal spouse, interrogating him about his past. It was annoying.
“What does it matter to you who I have slept with?”
Han Yan’s gaze was cold, as if frozen with frost, piercing Adams’ heart. “We are just casual partners. Is there any need for me to account for my entire past to you?”
“Even if I had slept with all of them, what could you do about it?”
“Adams Wilson, keep your place. You are overstepping.”
After saying that, he ignored Adams’ dazed expression, walked into the second bedroom, and slammed the door shut.
Han Yan lay on the single bed he had not slept in for a long time. He tossed and turned, causing the bed frame to creak. He wrapped himself tightly in the blanket and curled into a ball. Feelings were truly a nuisance.
Some time later, in a half-awake state, Han Yan sensed someone standing by the bed watching him. The faint scent of mint lingered in the air, and something soft pressed against his forehead. The words “I am sorry” echoed in the quiet room before quickly fading away.
Han Yan slept until the afternoon. He stared at the ceiling in a daze, his mind blank for a moment before the memories of last night came rushing back. The final image was of those green eyes filled with hurt and loneliness.
Yesterday had been one frustrating event after another, and he had lost control, speaking harshly to Adams. Now that he was awake, he realized that Adams was naturally a jealous person. Usually, Adams would count the seconds if Han Yan even looked at someone else.
Under normal circumstances, Han Yan might have been willing to coax him and explain. But last night, he had been suppressing his own anger. Adams’ interrogation had been the final straw that broke the camel’s back.
He decided he would find an opportunity to have a calm conversation later. He ran a hand through his hair and picked up his phone. He looked at the cracked screen and entered his messages.
Han Jue: The others sent Xie Yu home. (11:52 PM) Han Jue: Xie Yu is currently blocking my front door, shouting that he wants to see you. (10:39 AM) Han Jue: Xie Yu is about to tear my house down. (3:26 PM) Han Jue: [Sticker of a crying cat] (3:27 PM)
Just as Han Yan was about to reply, a notification popped up on the screen stating that the phone storage was critically low. Was he having a run of bad luck? Nothing was going right.
He exited the app and deleted a few rarely used programs, but the same notification appeared again when he tried to re-enter. He ran his hand through his hair in frustration and opened the background settings. He wanted to see which apps were taking up so much space.
He scrolled down the screen, bypassing the most frequently used apps, and uninstalled a few more. Thinking that should be enough, he was about to exit when his finger paused. He frowned.
What was this app? He did not remember downloading it.
He returned to the main screen and looked through his icons but could not find the app. He had to search online for help. After tinkering for a long time, he finally managed to find the hidden application.
He clicked into the app. Looking at the map where two icons were less than twenty meters apart, his heart sank. He stared darkly at the other icon as it slowly moved toward him. At the exact moment the two icons overlapped, there was a knock on the door.
From outside the door came a voice he knew all too well, but at this moment, it made his skin crawl.
“Han Yan, are you awake?”
