After the Divorce, My Wife Is Impossible to Coax - Chapter 47
Chapter 47
After Lu Yi finished the socializing, those Alphas still hadn’t managed to get Lu Shen’s contact information. Between the lines, they placed immense pressure on the Lu family, but Lu Yi handled them with an unfazed expression.
Despite her calm exterior, Lu Shen, standing beside her, knew her aunt might be crying on the inside.
Lu Yi was a “crybaby”—a fact Lu Shen had learned from Lu Ming. When Lu Yi was young, she was bullied by bratty kids at school and would hide in the restroom to cry alone. It was Lu Ming, an Omega, who stepped in and beat up the bullies.
Lu Ming had an emotional detachment disorder and didn’t know her own strength. Seeing Lu Yi surrounded by Alphas who mocked her, pulled her hair, and pinned her to the ground with insults, Lu Ming rushed in and beat them within an inch of their lives.
Under the teacher’s interrogation, Lu Ming refused to explain her reasons, forcing Lu Congwen to pay a hefty compensation. From then on, he hated this daughter even more. Lu Ming spent time in a juvenile detention center because of it, and upon her release, she was isolated by many classmates who labeled her a violent maniac.
Only Lu Yi knew the truth, but the teachers wouldn’t believe her, thinking “bullying” among children was just “playing around,” whereas Lu Ming’s retaliation was so severe she clearly wasn’t a “normal” person.
At the time, Lu Yi felt her sister was the only normal person in the world. No one at school ever dared bully Lu Yi again. Later, that little crybaby grew up to be a social butterfly.
The sisters’ relationship remained excellent. Even when they hadn’t seen each other for long periods—with Lu Ming cooped up in the lab or living abroad—it never diminished her status in Lu Yi’s heart. Naturally, Lu Yi would do her best to look after her sister’s daughter.
Just as Lu Shen was looking for an excuse to rescue her aunt, Captain An, standing not far behind her, encountered a small “malfunction.”
An Zhaoyu was holding a small cake, leaning half-body against a table with her long legs crossed. She was fully focused on Lu Shen and observing the people around her. An Omega manager from the Wen family hurried past her, carrying a tray with two glasses of red wine. With a sudden clatter, the tray slipped from the manager’s palm due to an abrupt loss of balance.
Reacting quickly, An Zhaoyu instinctively stepped back but failed to dodge the two full glasses of wine in time.
The red wine spilled like flowing silk, drenching her white shirt instantly. The stark contrast between the red and white was particularly obvious under the lights. The crimson liquid spread across the white fabric like blooming flowers. As the wine soaked in, the soft material of the white shirt became somewhat translucent, faintly revealing the outline of her black lingerie.
“I am so sorry!” the server apologized profusely, her face full of anxiety and distress. She grabbed a towel to wipe the mess, but the area was too large.
Not far away, a chill flashed through Wen Xuan’s eyes. She stared grimly at that Omega, ready to go over and demand to know what had happened.
“It’s fine, I’ll do it myself,” An Zhaoyu said. Though she was famous for her temper, it wasn’t triggered by small accidents where people didn’t mean it.
This minor incident attracted many gazes. An Zhaoyu didn’t realize how many Alphas were sizing her up, and some were even taking photos. A flustered An Zhaoyu was a rare sight, and more importantly, a SSS-rank Omega in a soaked shirt had a unique, sexy allure.
“Auntie, lend me your jacket. I’ll go handle this,” Lu Shen took the opportunity to escape, rescuing Lu Yi in the process.
While the server was helping An Zhaoyu clean the scene with a towel, Lu Shen walked over and draped the suit jacket over her.
“Lu Shen, why did you come over?”
An Zhaoyu hadn’t expected this. She had been trying hard to restrain her own possessiveness and let Lu Shen display her beauty, yet Lu Shen had draped a jacket over her. It was… quite sweet. An Zhaoyu secretly curled her lips.
“Go home first, or you’ll catch a cold,” Lu Shen said, emphasizing the word “cold.”
This was a reminder; Captain An had just served as a teaching model in the Respiratory Medicine department last week.
“Oh, what about you?” An Zhaoyu wouldn’t leave if Lu Shen didn’t, even if it meant another trip to the clinic.
Lu Shen glanced at her flatly and turned to walk out.
“It’s okay, President Wen,” An Zhaoyu called out behind her to Wen Xuan, who was sternly questioning the server. After speaking up for the person, she immediately followed Lu Shen’s footsteps.
She had come in the An family car with her mother today and hadn’t driven her own, so she naturally got into Lu Shen’s car. Soon, Lu Yi came out as well and walked to the side of the car.
“Your mother is fine lately, don’t worry too much. I’ll have someone watch the old man; he doesn’t dare make her do anything right now.”
“Okay, thank you, Auntie. The inhibitors are with Professor Fu; you can go find her yourself,” Lu Shen said. Then, she asked An Zhaoyu, who was already in the car, to take off the jacket and return it to Lu Yi.
Wei Ruicheng would never put his full effort into promoting the new inhibitor, and Lu Shen wasn’t naive enough to give him full control. She had intended to discuss it with her aunt, but given An Zhaoyu’s current state, she let her aunt deal with Professor Fu directly.
Though Professor Fu was socially anxious, her aunt was a social butterfly. As long as someone reminded Professor Fu not to keep a cold face the whole time, she shouldn’t scare her aunt to tears. If she did cry, she could just go cry to her sister. Either way, there would be some crying today.
Only An Zhaoyu and Lu Shen remained in the car. A certain captain could hardly suppress the smile on her face. Her bright eyes gazed at Dr. Lu.
“Lu Shen, did you just not want others to see me like that?”
She was always so direct.
Lu Shen didn’t speak. She remembered the day An Zhaoyu came back from the bar with two buttons undone, wearing this same lingerie—only today was even more excessive.
The staff of a major family like the Wens were meticulously trained; how could they make such a low-level mistake at a major event like a wedding? Moreover, looking at An Zhaoyu, the wine had spilled “too perfectly,” almost entirely on her.
What did that Omega want? To make An Zhaoyu lose her cool? After all, everyone knew about the Captain’s temper.
Lu Shen didn’t want to admit it, but when the server was wiping An Zhaoyu’s front with a towel at zero distance, she felt uncomfortable.
The enclosed space of the car was filled with the scent of red wine from An Zhaoyu’s body—mellow and rich, as if one could get tipsy just by breathing it in. Lu Shen turned on the ventilation system.
“Lu Shen, you’re possessive of me,” An Zhaoyu leaned in from the passenger seat, her voice sounding suppressed with joy in Lu Shen’s ear.
That intoxicating aroma became even more prominent. Staring straight ahead and driving seriously, Lu Shen acted as if she hadn’t heard, but her palms gripping the steering wheel were sweating slightly.
“Don’t worry, I’ll only let you see,” Captain An gave a very conscious guarantee. “Even though you’ve seen everything already.”
“Shut up,” Lu Shen finally snapped, unable to take it anymore. Her cheeks were heating up, and a faint blush crept onto her ears.
In terms of thick skin, her entire family combined couldn’t match Captain An. The Captain shut up for the moment, but the brilliant smile in her eyes couldn’t be hidden. Lu Shen cares about me. She was so happy.
Lu Shen adjusted her posture to keep An Zhaoyu out of her peripheral vision and drove to An Zhaoyu’s place to let her off.
Why drive here? An Zhaoyu was a bit disappointed. She said pitifully, “You don’t want me anymore?”
“Go up and change,” Lu Shen’s tone was cold. An Zhaoyu had already worn several of her outfits.
“Oh, then wait for me a second, I’ll be right down.”
An Zhaoyu dashed home. She didn’t just change; why would she change alone after being splashed like this? That would be too lonely. She caught the hidden meaning in Lu Shen’s words—Lu Shen was annoyed that she always wore her clothes. An Zhaoyu grabbed a suitcase, packed all her summer clothes, and carried it down.
Seeing the Omega, still smelling of red wine, reappear in the passenger seat, Lu Shen’s temples throbbed.
“Let’s go pick up Xiao Zhou,” An Zhaoyu buckled her seatbelt. She didn’t even plan to touch her own car.
Am I spoiling her too much? Lu Shen thought, yet she still restrained herself from flooring the accelerator.
After picking up Xiao Zhou from the An house, An Zhaoyu carried her suitcase back to Lu Shen’s place. Once home, she opened the suitcase, revealing it was full of clothes. She found a clean set. “It’s fine, I’ll just keep it in the living room.”
“There wasn’t room in the bedroom anyway,” Lu Shen replied ruthlessly while holding the baby. The bedroom had only one closet, and a third of it was already taken up by An Zhou. This apartment was originally configured for a single person; it was now severely overloaded.
“No room, I know. It’s not that you don’t want me to put it there,” An Zhaoyu said with a smile. Her smile was sincere, but her words were asking for trouble.
Lu Shen would never hit her. Otherwise, wouldn’t that just be giving her what she wanted?
The next second, An Zhaoyu pulled the curtains shut and started unbuttoning. She was going to fulfill her promise: only to show Lu Shen.
Lu Shen covered the curious An Zhou’s eyes with her hand, preparing to take the baby to the bedroom to isolate her from the “Captain An virus.”
“Eh, what’s this?” As An Zhaoyu pulled her shirt tail out of her pants, a small roll of paper fell out.
Lu Shen originally didn’t want to pay her any mind.
“It seems like that Omega from earlier put it in,” An Zhaoyu recalled. That person had touched her there while wiping her with the towel.
Lu Shen turned around. Sure enough, there was a small scrap of paper on the floor. She put the baby down and walked toward An Zhaoyu. An Zhaoyu picked up the note and gave it to her without opening it. In case that Omega was interested in her, An Zhaoyu wanted to hand over the evidence first to stay in the clear.
Her shirt was completely unbuttoned, hanging loosely on her body. Underneath was that black lingerie, clearly showing the defined lines of her abdomen. As a flight captain, daily physical training was essential; An Zhaoyu had an incredible physique. Her abdominal lines were elegant and charming, with the “mermaid line” (V-line) slightly visible—a natural, smooth curve, slender yet resilient, carrying a sense of strength as it extended downward into a clear V-shape.
Mermaid lines are extremely rare among Omegas and hard to find even among Betas. Lu Shen had exercised regularly for years but only had a “vest line” (11-line abs), whereas An Zhaoyu had a distinct V-line. It was an enviable figure; Lu Shen had known it before, but she still couldn’t help stealing an extra glance.
Then she unfurled the note. The paper was waterproof, with only two words on it—”Save me”—and a small, hand-drawn airplane icon.
“What does it say?” An Zhaoyu leaned in to look and froze for a moment. Clearly, it wasn’t what she had thought.
“Wen Su?” Lu Shen tilted her head to look at her.
“It’s her handwriting,” An Zhaoyu nodded. The icon was a simplified version of the First District’s emblem.
“No wonder Wen Su hasn’t shown her face,” Lu Shen took a photo of the note with her phone and then tossed it into the shredder. “Why would she ask you for help?”
To be honest, the friendship between Wen Su and An Zhaoyu wasn’t deep. They had each been captains for two years without conflict, but they didn’t communicate enough to warrant a cry for help.
“I don’t know,” An Zhaoyu immediately raised her hands to clear herself. “I don’t have any improper relationship with her.”
Lu Shen realized she had taken her shirt off at some point. She took a deep breath and turned around. “Change your clothes first.” The baby was still leaning by the sofa watching… this person was really…
“It’s not like you haven’t seen it. Didn’t you like it just now?”
She was answered by the sound of the bedroom door closing; the baby had been taken inside by Lu Shen as well. An Zhaoyu pouted; the “seduction” failed. She looked down and touched her own abdomen; it felt quite good—delicate, smooth, and elastic. She hoped for a chance to let Dr. Lu touch it next time.
What’s there to be shy about? It’s not like she hasn’t touched it before.
Lu Shen sat on the edge of the bed with the note. She thought Wen Su probably didn’t intend it for An Zhaoyu; she likely wanted to give it to her or Jiang Ling. However, Jiang Ling was too close to Wen Xuan, and Lu Shen herself was being watched too closely, so Wen Su chose the relatively “free” An Zhaoyu.
Clearly, the only person with the power to trap Wen Su without raising suspicion was Wen Xuan. Since Wen Su’s incident, no one had seen her; she must be in the Wen house.
“The plane crash that day… Wen Xuan might have had someone tamper with it,” An Zhaoyu said, having changed into a loose T-shirt. She tied a knot in the hem to conveniently reveal her beautiful abdomen. Her intention was glaringly obvious. “But I don’t understand, why would Wen Xuan target her?”
Wen Su was like An Zhaoyu, focused on her flying career. Wen Xuan wanted to control the Wen family, and Wen Su had no intention of competing with her. Moreover, Wen Su was good to her younger sister; Jiang Ling had even been jealous of that in the past.
“She has a motive,” Lu Shen said, eyes lowered, not looking at the perfect figure Captain An was deliberately displaying.
Wen Xuan was an Omega and wasn’t the Wen family’s original choice for heir. She had gradually become the family’s power-holding junior only after changing her pheromones with inhibitors. Even so, there was no need to act against Wen Su; the Wen family was already firmly in her hands.
That left only one reason: Jiang Ling. The current relationship between Jiang Ling and Wen Su was hard to define. Wen Xuan was likely truly in love with Jiang Ling. Lu Shen frowned slightly.
An Zhaoyu waited for a long time but received neither Lu Shen’s gaze nor an explanation of the motive. Sighing, she lay on the sofa holding the baby. Whatever. She wasn’t interested anyway. She had realized she was just a messenger; Wen Su probably wanted Lu Shen’s help.
“Let’s wait and see,” Lu Shen said. Wen Su only wrote two words, not how to save her or where she was. More importantly, Lu Shen had a hunch that the server who bumped into An Zhaoyu might have already aroused Wen Xuan’s suspicion. If Wen Su tried to act again, it would be even more difficult. She didn’t want to interfere in Wen family affairs; she’d wait a while to see what Jiang Ling said before deciding.
For now, solving Wei Ruicheng was the priority.
As Lu Shen was deep in thought, she didn’t notice her hand being “stolen” by the Captain and the baby. It wasn’t until her fingertips touched warm skin that she reflexively pulled back and looked over.
An Zhaoyu looked at her innocently with wide eyes. An Zhou imitated her expression, looking at Lu Shen the same way—the baby’s shirt had even been knotted by An Zhaoyu, exposing her round little belly to the air.
Lu Shen closed her eyes, then opened them, calmly reaching out to tidy An Zhou’s clothes.
“What about me?” An Zhaoyu wanted her to take action too.
“Do you want to feel ‘refreshed’?” Lu Shen asked her, her gaze very serious.
“This… so fast,” An Zhaoyu’s face turned a bit red. She wasn’t ready yet. “It’s… not impossible.”
Lu Shen had never been so direct about “this kind of thing,” making the Captain’s heart thump. If they marked each other, they wouldn’t have to divorce—this was Captain An’s small life goal at this stage.
Lu Shen stood up and found a long, thin black tie in the closet.
Playing this big? An Zhaoyu watched her wrap the tie around her hands and tug it to check its strength. She unconsciously licked her lips, feeling a bit expectant. She didn’t forget to cover the baby’s eyes; this scene was clearly not for children.
Lu Shen walked up to her, grabbed both her hands, and pinned them behind her back. She tied two firm single-hand surgical knots around her wrists. An Zhaoyu was incredibly cooperative. It’s okay, the baby is so small, she definitely won’t remember.
It was just a bit too stimulating. Lu Shen’s cold face combined with what she was doing hit all of An Zhaoyu’s buttons.
“Is this okay?” Lu Shen tugged her hands to see if she could break free.
“Yes, very okay,” An Zhaoyu felt so hot. Heat sprouted from her bones and spread; her pheromones couldn’t help but leak out a strand.
“Take your pheromones back,” Lu Shen’s cold index finger pressed against the back of her neck, her voice commanding.
An Zhaoyu obediently pulled the pheromones back. She was absolutely sure she didn’t have any “special hobbies,” but with Dr. Lu acting like this, who could resist?
The soft, active embrace she imagined didn’t happen. The gentle leaning kiss didn’t happen either. Lu Shen poked her shoulder with two fingers and pinned her firmly into the sofa.
The air conditioning was set to a temperature cold enough to clear her head. Lu Shen then covered her exposed abdomen with a thin blanket. She picked up the red-wine-stained black garment An Zhaoyu had just changed out of, crumpled it into a small ball, and gently pushed it into her mouth.
As An Zhaoyu’s eyes widened slightly, Lu Shen leaned over her, let out a soft laugh, and whispered slowly in her ear:
“Then enjoy yourself, Captain An.”
Then, Lu Shen picked up the dazed baby and left the room without looking back.
