After the Divorce, My Wife Is Impossible to Coax - Chapter 16
Chapter 16
“What am I going to wear?” Lu Shen’s movements stiffened. There were no clothes belonging to An Zhaoyu here.
“I can wear yours,” An Zhaoyu said, seemingly reading her mind.
The two were exactly the same height. Lu Shen had worn An Zhaoyu’s flight suit before, and it had fit perfectly.
“What do you want to wear?” Lu Shen thought for a moment and opened the bedside wardrobe, letting her choose.
An Zhaoyu’s gaze swept over the clothes. She had to admit, Lu Shen truly favored dresses; she loved long skirts for daily wear and camisole nightgowns for sleeping. There were hardly any pants to be seen in the closet.
However, An Zhaoyu recalled that at the An residence, Lu Shen always seemed to wear long sleeves and long pants, keeping herself covered up tight.
Her appraising gaze stopped when she noticed several sets of baby clothes inside.
There’s nothing of mine in this room, yet she prepared clothes for the baby. What does the good doctor mean by this? An Zhaoyu’s eyes narrowed slightly.
A dangerous aura began to spread through the air, but Lu Shen didn’t notice. She saw the small clothes too; they were the ones her aunt had sent over last time, and she hadn’t had a chance to take them back yet.
An Zhaoyu selected a deep grey silk camisole nightgown. The fabric felt incredibly smooth to the touch.
Lu Shen opened her mouth to speak but hesitated. That was her personal favorite to wear when she stayed here.
An Zhaoyu could tell; the dress was placed in the most accessible spot and seemed to carry a faint, lingering scent of herbs.
She was doing it on purpose.
The room had an en-suite bathroom with a frosted, semi-transparent partition—the classic design style for such spaces. The sound of rushing water soon drifted out from the bathroom. The sight of the Omega lifting her clothes to undress from the bottom up was silhouetted clearly against the frosted glass. Lu Shen looked away. After settling the baby, she walked over to the rainforest tank to feed the fish.
The little fish were enthusiastic, swarming the food the moment it touched the water, devouring it in no time.
Lu Shen looked for something else to do to keep herself busy, only to find that everything was already done. The baby was asleep, and the pets were fed. All that remained was waiting for An Zhaoyu to emerge from the bathroom.
Time suddenly felt sluggish. Lu Shen felt a sense of torment.
Things were spiraling again. An Zhaoyu had once again intruded into her territory, quite brazenly. The way An Zhaoyu had looked at her just now… it wasn’t exactly “innocent.”
“I’m finished.”
Finally, Lu Shen received her “release order.”
The silk nightgown fit An Zhaoyu perfectly. Her snowy collarbones and shoulders were fully exposed, as were the delicate lines of her shoulder blades. She was enveloped in the scent of the shower gel Lu Shen usually used—sweet and rich. Droplets of water fell from her burgundy hair, dampening the hem of the dress and turning the fabric a shade darker.
“The hair dryer is in the drawer,” Lu Shen said, glancing once before looking away. She selected an oversized white button-down shirt with a long hem—it was similar to a dress and wouldn’t expose her shoulders.
At this moment, she began to regret that her pajamas were almost exclusively dresses. This was originally her private world, so she had been reckless in her choices.
An Zhaoyu sensed her thoughts. Is Lu Shen really planning to wrap herself up tight in front of me again?
They were, after all, a legally married couple.
Furthermore, An Zhaoyu stood before the glass wall, appraising herself. She was very satisfied with her figure, yet Lu Shen had only spared a single glance. Did she no longer have any attraction for Lu Shen?
It didn’t seem quite like that. Compared to the day at the grandmother’s house, the doctor had improved; she had at least looked once.
While Lu Shen went inside to shower, An Zhaoyu drew the curtains shut. They were light-proof, bringing back the intimate atmosphere. The primitive rainforest scenery gave the entire room the vibe of being out in the wild.
It was very suitable for flirting.
Having dried her hair, An Zhaoyu lay on the bed, holding the baby. Her gaze rested on the rainforest wall. The warm yellow spotlights poured down from above, converging into straight bands of light that hit the bottom of the tank. One didn’t even need to lift their head to see the entire forest, the rushing waterfall, and the many swimming “spectators” near the cave, who were still energetic after being fed.
A strange thought suddenly occurred to her: If Lu Shen usually changes her clothes here, don’t these fish see everything clearly?
Subconsciously looking toward the bathroom, An Zhaoyu felt a bit hot. Her lips felt dry. She picked up a thermos on the table and took a sip, only to realize afterward that it was likely Lu Shen’s cup. A disposable paper cup sat on the small bedside cabinet, steam still rising from it—clearly, that was the one prepared for the “guest.”
Forget it, I’ll just tell her when she comes out, An Zhaoyu thought, draining the water in the paper cup as well.
She was a bit confused. Why did Lu Shen’s body have such a powerful pull on her, while she, an SSS-rank Omega, couldn’t seem to attract Lu Shen? What kind of monster was this doctor?
When Lu Shen finally emerged, An Zhaoyu’s previous dissatisfaction over not seeing her in a nightgown vanished instantly.
Lu Shen suited the long white shirt exceptionally well. Accompanied by the lingering steam from the bathroom and the pitter-patter of the rain outside, she looked like a beautiful immortal descending to the mortal realm. Her legs were even more slender and straight than chopsticks, without a single ounce of unnecessary muscle.
A painting of a rainforest needs a person in it to be truly complete.
The matter of the water cup was thrown to the back of her mind.
“Why did you turn off the light?” As she spoke, An Zhaoyu realized her throat was still dry. As soon as Lu Shen stepped out, she had switched off the bathroom’s warm light. Now, only the spotlights from the glass wall remained, making the room dim.
“Ready for bed,” Lu Shen said, letting down her long hair which had been tied up to avoid getting wet. The dim light was good for hiding things that were difficult to put into words.
Like the way An Zhaoyu was staring at her. Or the way the white shirt was turned semi-transparent by the lingering moisture on her skin.
