- Chapter 3 - The Gloomy, Wet Snakey-Snake; Snakey-Snake Drifts Into Mother's Bed And Gets Taught A Lesson By Mother
Yu Ying unlocked her room door. The silvery-white little snake looked up at her, emitting a hissing sound.
“I’m fine, Xiao Xue.” Yu Ying picked up the silvery-white little snake. The little snake skillfully coiled itself around Yu Ying’s wrist. Smelling the scent of its own kind, the little snake flicked its tongue to cover up the scent of a certain smelly snake.
Mother could only belong to her. No matter how powerful the opponent was, they could not covet her mother.
Before meeting Yu Ying, Blizzard was the pet of a certain niche reptile streamer. She wasn’t powerful like other snakes; on the contrary, she was soft, timid, and needed human protection.
Not long after, the streamer abandoned Blizzard in a trash can. Her snow-white body merged with the foul-smelling wastewater.
Humans disliked snakes and began to drive her away. She crawled into even dirtier sewers, keeping company with maggots and flies, and when she was starving, she would crawl into trash cans to look for scraps.
One day, as usual, she crawled into a trash can. A pair of hands precisely and unerringly grabbed her seven inches. Believing she was doomed, she struggled desperately.
‘Blizzard? Are you willing to come home with me?’
Just like that, the little snake had a new home. She had left her mother when she was still a snake egg, hatched by humans using technology in an incubator. She regarded Yu Ying as her mother, staying by Yu Ying’s side without ever leaving.
Yu Ying used the microwave to heat up the sponge cake. The little snake and Yu Ying waited together in front of the microwave for it to finish heating. Yu Ying put on gloves, opened the microwave, and brought out the sponge cake.
The little snake had lived as a stray before and was so starved that she would pounce whenever she saw food, getting her tongue burned several times.
“Don’t rush, it’s too hot.” Yu Ying tore off a small piece of cake, blew it cool at her lips, and fed it to the little snake. The little snake had eaten anything when she was a stray and wasn’t a picky eater; as long as it was fed by her mother, she liked it.
Yu Ying ate several sponge cakes. Having eaten and drunk her fill, she also took a hot bath. She yawned, feeling a bit sleepy. She picked up the last sponge cake, took a bite, and placed it on the plate.
“Time for sleep.” Yu Ying slipped under the blanket, her fingers stroking the little snake’s forehead. “Snakes like dark and damp places. Why do you, a little snake, like to cling to me so much?”
Because I like Mother, I like to cling to Mother.
The little snake’s icy tail wrapped around Yu Ying’s finger. The warmth from Yu Ying’s body felt as though it was about to melt her. The little snake poked out her tongue to dissipate heat, her pale pink eyes glistening with a layer of mist.
Yu Ying interacted with the little snake as usual, falling into memories after a short while. She remembered when she had just picked up the little snake; Blizzard was covered in filth, so she brought the little snake to a pet hospital.
No one at the hospital dared to wash the little snake, so she had to do it herself. Just as she placed the little snake into the tub, her tiger’s mouth was unexpectedly bitten by the little snake.
Thinking of those warm daily routines, Yu Ying drifted into a sweet dreamland. The little snake licked Yu Ying’s tiger’s mouth; those two sharp tooth marks were the imprint she had left on her Yu Ying.
She flicked her tongue and crawled out of her mother’s warm blanket, coiling up the pillar of the round table. Her vertical pupils greedily stared at the cake that had been bitten by her mother. She was already full, her belly turned round and plump.
But she wanted to take a bite of the cake her mother had bitten. She had never eaten food her mother had eaten before. If her mother found out, would her mother abandon her?
The snakey-snake tilted her head and looked toward her sleeping mother. She only dared to use the tip of her tail to hook a tiny piece, putting it into her mouth to chew and swallow slowly.
So fragrant. The cake her mother had bitten had a special fragrance.
The snakey-snake quickly stole a glance at her mother, used her snake tail to hook another small piece, and just as she was preparing to send it into her mouth, she heard the door lock click. The snakey-snake crawled down from the tabletop.
Sui Lin opened the room door. To a wicked species like her, a room door could not keep her out.
She stood in the shadow, her silver long hair draped over her shoulders, her red eyes flashing with light, wearing a thin red lace nightgown that was glamorous and eerie.
She stepped on the little snake, crouching down to look at the little snake with great interest. “Want to tip her off, right?”
The little snake let out a hissing sound, arching its snake body and opening its mouth. Sui Lin’s fair fingers pinched the little snake’s seven inches, her lips curling into a cruel, cold sneer. “The feeling of suffocation is quite good, isn’t it? If you don’t want to die, don’t disturb her sleep.”
Sui Lin liked slaughter; she liked using simple and violent means to solve everything. Pinching this little snake to death was like pinching an ant, but Sui Lin didn’t want to kill the little snake. Before finding her mother, her hands could not be stained with the blood of her own kind.
Plop! The little snake was thrown against the wall by Sui Lin, blood flowing from the corner of its mouth as it fell to the floor. The little snake twisted its body into a coil like a mosquito incense, its pale pink pupils glaring fiercely at Sui Lin.
If Sui Lin dared to do anything to her mother, she would definitely do everything in her power to protect Mother.
The clock hands inside the room pointed to two o’clock. A normal person would not enter Yu Ying’s room at this time, but Sui Lin was not a normal person, nor was she human.
Her snake tail lightly swept across the camera inside the room, turning the equipment into a pile of scrap metal. She hated all devices that emitted light—phones, cameras, video recorders, and so on, all made her feel annoyed.
The room was filled with a scent familiar to Sui Lin. Like a bee newly entering a sweet beehive, she sniffed her mother’s scent everywhere.
She walked to the round table and saw the cake Yu Ying had taken a bite of. She picked up the cake with disdain; the cake retained her mother’s scent.
She, who never ate human food, actually threw the cake into her mouth. Her sharp teeth chewed the cake as it slid down to her throat, and she even wanted to lick the cake crumbs off her fingers.
Staying alone in her room made it difficult for Sui Lin to fall asleep. Smelling her mother’s scent at this moment, she let out a weary yawn and very naturally lifted the blanket, slipping into Yu Ying’s bed.
The body temperature of humans made her very uncomfortable. She slept on the other side of the large bed, with enough space between them to fit at least two more people.
Sui Lin slowly moved her body closer to Yu Ying. The human in her sleep could be manipulated at her whim. She pulled Yu Ying’s arm and placed it across her own waist.
An anomaly should not depend on humans; a certain snake knew this damn rule perfectly well. Sui Lin did not depend on humans; she was merely utilizing the human before her to help herself get a good night’s sleep.
After Mother left the game world, she hadn’t dreamed of Mother for a long time. Snuggled in Yu Ying’s embrace, the human’s body temperature seemed as though it was about to burn her, and a glint of crystalline tears welled up in her eyes.
The other two anomalies were temporarily trapped by her within the game space. She needed to create the illusion of depending on humans, utilizing this human to help her find Mother.
Sui Lin completely failed to realize that she was making up unreasonable excuses for her own irrational behavior, thereby rationalizing her act of climbing into the bed.
Usually, this position of Sui Lin’s was the little snake’s exclusive spot. Yu Ying liked to hold the little snake while sleeping in summer; the snake’s icy scales could serve to dissipate heat.
Yu Ying was sleeping fuzzily. As usual, her hands caressed the little snake’s scales. The little snake’s scales weren’t that hard, and its belly was also very soft.
Her legs clamped around Sui Lin’s snake tail. “Little snake, how did you grow so big?”
In her dream, Yu Ying let out an exclamation. The silvery-white little snake she had picked up—when did it turn into a python?
Sui Lin’s scale-covered snake tail wrapped around Yu Ying’s left leg, slowly extending from the ankle to the thigh, leaving light red marks on the fair skin.
Yu Ying could not breathe smoothly. She dreamed that Xiao Xue had transformed into an abyss giant python, tightly binding her, a bright red snake tongue licking her auricle. ‘Did Mother raise other snakes? It truly makes Snakey-Snake feel heartbroken.’
Don’t— Yu Ying let out a loud cry within her dreamscape. She strained her throat to shout, as if strangled by a pair of invisible hands, unable to make a single sound.
Before plunging into a dream within a dream again, Yu Ying abruptly snapped her eyes open. Her forehead was densely covered with a layer of cold sweat as she locked eyes with those blood-red eyes of Sui Lin.
Yu Ying tightly shut her eyes, her eyelashes trembling anxiously as she continuously hinted to herself that all of this was just an illusion.
The tip of the snake tail groped toward her abdomen, its hard scales sliding over her skin. Yu Ying’s entire body’s blood turned icy cold, her hands and feet unable to move.
She quickly calmed down, feeling for the dagger beneath her pillow. She gripped the dagger and stabbed fiercely at the snake tail with a ruthless gaze. The sharp blade pierced through the scales and into the snake’s soft flesh, blood splattering onto Yu Ying’s face.
With a clack, Yu Ying pressed the light switch. The warm light fell upon her and Sui Lin. The pristine white bedsheet was dyed red with blood, a dense bloody stench invading her nasal cavity.
She had thought all of this was merely her own illusion, until she saw Sui Lin’s injured snake tail, where the scales were overturned to reveal mangled snake flesh, with blood gushing outward from the wound.
The illusion did not dissipate because of her attack; Teacher Sui Lin’s snake tail was real, not an illusion.
Yu Ying knelt on the bed, both hands tightly gripping the dagger, the sharp blade aimed at Sui Lin’s abdomen. “I don’t care what kind of thing you are, stay away from me!”
There wasn’t a trace of panic in Sui Lin’s eyes; instead, she was very calm. She grabbed the bedsheet to wipe the blood off her snake tail, throwing the bedsheet aside with disdain.
She parted her red lips to reveal serrated teeth, bewitching Yu Ying. “I am a human just like you.”
A certain snake did not know that she had already fallen into a self-proving trap. She was highly confident, firmly believing that foolish, fragile humans could not see the snake tail, and only Mother could see her beautiful snake tail.
She could feel that Yu Ying’s current emotions had reached the brink of collapse. She wanted to continue stimulating Yu Ying’s nerves, preferably making Yu Ying unable to distinguish between reality and illusion.
The nature of snakes was selfish and cold; they ranked first among cold-blooded animals. She didn’t care about any human other than her mother; what did it matter if she drove a human crazy?
Sui Lin immensely worshiped her mother. When she was still a little snake, her mother was already a black python capable of devouring the abyss, and the entire game world feared her mother’s advent.
The human NPCs in the game dreaded her mother’s power and feared her mother’s snake tail. Only Sui Lin intensely craved her mother, craving to obtain everything her mother had……
“Aren’t we humans all like this?” Sui Lin began to use language to stimulate Yu Ying’s nerves.
“Your room’s water heater broke so you borrowed mine, so of course my bed broke so I can borrow yours.”
“Shouldn’t humans help one another?”
Yu Ying still kept the dagger aimed at Sui Lin’s abdomen. Look at what strange words this stupid snake was saying, opening and closing her mouth with nothing but “we humans.”
Tonight, one of them, either her or Sui Lin, must be diagnosed as mentally ill.
Yu Ying frantically spoke out everything she saw. “You are not human.”
Well, this sentence sounded like Yu Ying was cursing Sui Lin, but such was indeed the fact—Sui Lin was not human.
“Behind you is a silver snake tail.” Yu Ying unhurriedly recounted everything observed during this interval. “You usually appear in a human form, but you are not human. Ordinary people cannot see the snake tail behind you.”
Sui Lin froze slightly. She developed an unspeakable interest in the frantic woman before her. Two psychos met for the first time and developed an intense interest in each other.
She hadn’t expected that apart from Mother, a human could actually see her snake tail. Even though she knew all of this was Yu Ying’s illusion.
Her beautiful snake tail in Yu Ying’s eyes was merely an anomalous object produced by illusion. She naturally didn’t believe a human could see her snake tail; how could this group of foolish creatures be that smart?
Nonetheless, Yu Ying’s words made her somewhat excited.
Before opening the link between the game and reality, a certain octopus had been constantly reminding the arrogant and domineering snake to hide her identity in the human world and tuck her tail to act like a proper snake.
Acting as a snake demon in a fantasy movie counted as performing as her true self; those shots weren’t special effects at all but her actual body.
“I am not human?” Sui Lin covered her mouth and laughed wildly, her laughter incredibly eerie. She half-squinted her eyes to scrutinize Yu Ying. “Go tell the others, see whether they believe I am not human, or believe you are a mental patient.”
“I promised Mother that I would not kill humans at will.” This mommy’s girl of a snake couldn’t separate three sentences from her mother. “You should rejoice that my mother taught me well, at least I am different from those pythons that only know slaughter.”
Sui Lin frowned, snatching away the little snake that was tugging at her nightgown belt. Her palm slowly closed up, pinching the little snake’s seven inches as she smiled gloomily. “This little snake has very poor upbringing, do you need me to help you teach it a lesson?”
“My mother is a master snake trainer, I shouldn’t be too bad either.” Sui Lin felt the little snake gradually losing its breath. “Too fragile, this kind of snake doesn’t deserve to exist.”
“Give it back to me.” Yu Ying approached Sui Lin with the dagger in one hand.
“Is this your attitude for begging me?” Sui Lin easily seized Yu Ying’s wrist. She suddenly grew interested, her fingertips picking up the little snake to send it into her oral cavity. “It just so happens that I am injured, eating it will replenish my body.”
Yu Ying broke free from Sui Lin’s restraint, lifting the dagger to stab at Sui Lin’s arm.
Faced with the sudden attack launched by the human, Sui Lin ruthlessly wrapped her snake tail around Yu Ying’s waist.
Yu Ying grabbed the little snake’s tail to snatch the little snake back. Traces of blood seeped from the corner of her mouth as she snatched the little snake away from Sui Lin’s hand bit by bit.
“What a tenacious vitality.” Seeing Yu Ying’s reddened eyes, Sui Lin’s heart wrenched with pain for some unknown reason, and she loosened the snake tail wrapped around Yu Ying’s waist.
Yu Ying knelt on the bed, both hands cradling the little snake whose life was feeble. She skillfully rescued the little snake, leaning her ear close to the little snake’s abdomen, hearing the thumping heartbeat.
“Xiao Xue, don’t scare me.” Yu Ying anxiously shook the little snake. The little snake extended its tongue to lick Yu Ying’s tiger’s mouth.
She exerted all her strength to respond to Yu Ying.
“Xiao Xue?”
Sui Lin was pulled back into her game memories by a single name. She had died three times in the game, saved by Mother the last time. At that time, Mother didn’t know she could destroy the world yet, and seeing that her appearance looked like Blizzard, named her Xiao Xue.
What gave this snake the right to possess the exact same name as her. The gaze with which Sui Lin looked at the little snake was filled with jealousy, as well as a murderous intent hidden deep in her heart.
She hated herself for softening momentarily to let the little snake off. Before she found her mother, other snakes couldn’t snuggle with her mother either.
The warm scene before her eyes made her so jealous she went crazy. Her snake tail shattered the furniture in Yu Ying’s room, making clattering noises.
She angrily flicked her tongue, crawling gloomily on the floor, frantically repeating a single sentence: “Every snake has a mother, only I don’t have a mother.”
“Mother, Mother, I miss you immensely.”
Miss the scent on your body, want to make you fuse into one with me, miss your embrace, want to let your warmth envelop me.
The snakey-snake crawled gloomily to the window, climbing along the wall back to the fourth-floor room.
Yu Ying got off the bed and tilted her head to look toward the snake tail in the darkness, hearing the eerie sound made when scales scraped against the wall.
She could now be certain that everything she saw was not an illusion; what she was facing was a snake-psycho suffering from mental illness.
Bang! Yu Ying shut the window tightly, placing a pot of succulents by the window edge. If a certain snake dared to climb through the window into the room again, she would fire a gun to shoot through her heart.
The premise was not being counter-killed by a certain snake.
Yu Ying changed into clean and tidy bedsheets, throwing the blood-stained bedsheets into the trash can. She brought out the medicine box to gently bandage the little snake’s wound and feed her medicine.
“In the future, no other snake will replace your position.” Yu Ying kissed the little snake’s forehead, cradling the little snake in her embrace. “With me around, no snake will dare to bully you either.”
The little snake shrunk into Yu Ying’s embrace, its tongue licking Yu Ying’s lower jaw to nuzzle with Yu Ying.
A snake with a mommy won’t be bullied, unlike a certain snake who has no mommy to cherish her and can only search the whole world for a mom.
The little snake snuggled in Yu Ying’s warm embrace, thinking gloomily.
She hoped that certain stupid snake would never find her mother in this lifetime, and Mother would forever belong only to her.
