After the Cannon Fodder Awakens, They Marry the Heroine! - Chapter 12
Shit! Li Beichen truly deserved to be Li Mo’s biological brother! When both of them went crazy, they both seemed like major psychopaths!
Of course, when the great beauty went crazy, she was still a great beauty, but when Li Beichen went crazy, he just looked like a stupid maniac!
Wen Runan silently heightened her vigilance, keeping a look of confusion and incomprehension on her face. “President Li, what are you talking about? Hurry up and let go of me. I need to go back to work.”
“You want to go back?” Li Beichen sneered, gripping Wen Runan’s arm even tighter. “You won’t be going anywhere without my permission…”
“Hiss—” Before Li Beichen could finish his sentence, a sharp pain shot up from between his legs, so intense that he immediately let go, clutching his groin and falling to his knees.
Wen Runan withdrew her left leg with a slight look of distaste, while inwardly feeling the pinch of the points she had just spent. To ensure a perfect strike, the ten points she had worked so hard to earn were wiped out again.
“Guests, is everything alright? Do you need any help?” Although Wen Runan had chosen a corner, the commotion still attracted the attention of a waiter.
“Nothing’s wrong. My friend suddenly has a stomach ache, and he’ll be fine after a moment of rest,” Wen Runan said with a smile, dismissing the waiter with a few words.
He’s truly insane. The coffee shop wasn’t a private place. Li Beichen wouldn’t be stupid enough to think he could do anything to her here, right? No way! Right?
“President Li, I’m a person, not an object. I believe I have my own freedom,” Wen Runan looked down at Li Beichen, her gaze firm and resolute.
“I’ve let go, and I hope President Li can also let go soon.” After speaking, Wen Runan picked up her small cross-body bag and turned to leave.
“Wait…” Li Beichen, kneeling on the floor, endured the pain and reached out, grabbing Wen Runan’s ankle. “If you dare to leave…”
“President Li, I wish you and Miss Liu a hundred years of happiness together!” Wen Runan raised her voice, her words ringing out clearly. “We are over. Nothing you say will change my mind! Even if you kneel and beg me, it won’t make a difference!”
After saying this, Wen Runan squatted down to pry Li Beichen’s hand open, ignoring the ugly expression on his face, leaving him only with her resolute departing back.
Congratulations,Host,keyplotcompleted.
Hearing the key plot completion alert, Wen Runan mentally gave a celebratory ‘Yes’.
Although there were minor issues with the process—the original “misunderstanding” that Li Beichen liked Liu Lu turned into the “misunderstanding” that Li Beichen was kneeling and begging her—at least she successfully resolved the two key plot points, allowing her to feel at ease about getting close to the great beauty.
“Sir, would you like me to call an ambulance for you?” A man in a black trench coat, about forty years old, stood up from another corner and approached Li Beichen to ask.
Li Beichen endured the pain and climbed up from the floor. Discovering the person was a stranger, the expression on his face twisted further. His male pride made him refuse the offer. “No need. I’m fine.”
Seeing this, the man in the trench coat didn’t say much. He merely adjusted his earphone, then returned to his original seat and watched Li Beichen leave.
“Ms. Li, do you need me to follow up further?” The man in the trench coat asked after Li Beichen walked out of the coffee shop.
“No need. Send me the video and the information, and your task will be complete,” Li Mo’s voice came through the Bluetooth earphone. “The final payment will be transferred to your account once I receive them.”
“Understood, Ms. Li. It was a pleasure working with you,” the man in the trench coat, who was the private investigator hired by Li Mo, politely ended the call.
Li Mo took off her earphone, looking at the fresh, dew-kissed roses that had just been picked next to her, and lightly tapped her chin in thought.
Clearly, Wen Runan sending her away was purely to meet Li Beichen and break things off with him completely.
Letting go of her feelings for Li Beichen, not being the third party between them, and wishing them a hundred years of happiness—these were all things Wen Runan said herself.
So, the question arose: if Li Beichen and Liu Lu’s engagement hadn’t been announced, would Wen Runan have broken up with him so decisively?
Was Wen Runan considering me as a backup option after Li Beichen? Or did she have a big appetite and want to string both of us along?
“Master, are you perhaps misunderstanding something?” Finding that Li Mo intended to question it, 033 immediately spoke up. “The Male Lead and Female Lead already had feelings before you were discharged from the hospital. The Female Lead choosing to completely break up with the Male Lead at this time clearly shows she is choosing you.”
“Is that so?” Li Mo concealed her true emotions. “So I’m not the backup option?”
“Of course not! Your looks and talent surpass the Male Lead’s. Once you expressed your liking for the Female Lead, she would definitely choose you,” 033 said fawningly.
“Now the Female Lead is already biased toward you. As long as you successfully confess, the majority of the destiny power will transfer to you.”
Li Mo neither confirmed nor denied. She hadn’t forgotten how she acquired 033. Although she now held the power over its life and death, it was only forcibly controlled by her, not truly subservient.
Only half of what this 033 says is believable.
Boarding her private jet, Li Mo spread out the roses she had personally picked on a table. After putting on protective gloves, she began carefully trimming them.
“How many roses are suitable for a confession?” Li Mo asked 033 in her consciousness while trimming the excess leaves and thorns from the roses.
“Master, I just looked it up for you. Eleven roses symbolize ‘My only love is you.’ Twenty-one roses symbolize ‘Sincere love.’ Forty roses symbolize ‘Love until death.’ All of these are highly suitable for a confession.”
Li Mo didn’t ask further but smiled faintly, unhurriedly selecting twenty-one roses.
Sincere love. Is it my love for Wen Runan, or Wen Runan’s love for me? Or perhaps, love that doesn’t exist at all?
As quitting time approached, Wen Runan picked up her phone every three to five minutes to check for new messages.
Li Mo had told her she would leave when the sun rose and return before the sun set today.
Quitting time was 5:30 PM, which wasn’t long before sunset. How could there be no message yet? Had something delayed her?
“Xiao Wen, it’s time to clock out. Going home together?” The administrative department didn’t have much work, and after Li Mo’s reforms, clocking out on time had become the norm.
“Not yet, I still have…” Before Wen Runan could finish her sentence, she heard a new message alert.
Li Mo: Come downstairs.
Those simple two words, plus a punctuation mark, made Wen Runan’s heart start racing.
Taking a sip from the water cup beside her, Wen Runan shot up from her seat. Ignoring whether her documents were organized or if her computer was completely shut down, she rushed straight to the elevator.
“Huh? Xiao Wen, why are you in such a hurry?” A colleague looked at her in confusion.
Is Li Mo downstairs? Did she bring the roses? Is she going to confess downstairs at the company? Given her personality, she probably wouldn’t do something so impulsive, right?
Wen Runan licked her lips, and as she watched the displayed floor number slowly decrease, her heart beat faster and faster.
Ding— The elevator doors opened. Wen Runan stepped out first, and without needing to search hard, Li Mo was standing right in the middle of the lobby.
Dressed in a white suit, her long, seaweed-like hair spread loosely down her back, a beautiful curve to her lips. Gone was the usual severity she showed subordinates, replaced only by a tender warmth full of affection.
Li Mo held the roses in one hand, looking gently and devotedly at Wen Runan, walking toward her step by step.
