Chapter 38.2: The Wolf and the Whip-Wielder
Al’s remaining words stuck in her throat. She stared at the cold, indifferent Jiao Qingyin, her lips parting and closing several times without making a sound.
Jiao Qingyin looked out the window, speaking in a casual tone: “If it’s just sleeping together, it doesn’t really matter. After all, that is your duty as a slave…”
Al’s eyes widened. She never expected to hear such words from the other woman’s mouth.
“I don’t care who I sleep with, as long as they have a handsome face…”
Jiao Qingyin pushed it further and further. Al was a mixture of shock and fury, her expression twisting uncontrollably. Unaware, Jiao Qingyin continued to talk to herself: “In any case, I don’t know how many people have slept in this bed, I—umph!”
Her lips were blocked by Al. Jiao Qingyin’s pupils dilated; she forgot to move for a moment.
This kiss of Al’s was fueled by rage. She gripped Jiao Qingyin’s waist tightly, circling her in her arms, and her sharp canine teeth bit through Jiao Qingyin’s lip almost instantly.
The scent of blood spread immediately, snapping Jiao Qingyin back to her senses. She slammed her elbow into Al’s stomach.
Al let out a muffled groan but still didn’t let go; instead, she held her even tighter. Her presence was like an invisible giant net, locking Jiao Qingyin firmly inside.
After several failed attempts to break free, Jiao Qingyin also flared up with anger. When Al instinctively learned to probe with the tip of her tongue, Jiao Qingyin bit back with equal force.
A perfectly good kiss ended with both parties wounded.
Jiao Qingyin wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth, her face still stormy with rage. A warm healing spell was pressed against her lips, mending the wound.
She looked at Al, whose hand was flickering with light; the bloodshot streaks in the girl’s eyes betrayed her current state of mind.
Panting, Al flashed a provocative smile as Jiao Qingyin’s gaze landed on her. “Has anyone ever kissed you like that?”
The answer, of course, was no.
But Jiao Qingyin was determined to drive Al away completely today. She sneered back: “You can go and ask around—see if there’s anyone who hasn’t kissed me like that.”
“…” Al exhaled a heavy, ragged breath.
The moment she heard those words, she was ignited by the flames of jealousy. Her rationality evaporated, and dozens of pitch-black tentacles erupted from her body. They lashed out, frantic and incensed.
Alarm bells rang in Jiao Qingyin’s head. She turned to run, but after only one step, she was pinned face-down into a pile of cushions.
Jiao Qingyin cursed inwardly. The next second, her hands and feet were bound by Al’s tentacles. If her physical stats hadn’t dropped significantly after coming to this world and her special abilities weren’t sealed, how could she have been subdued so easily—!
“Jiao-Jiao,” Al knelt on one knee upon the cushions, flipping the other woman over to face her. “I’ve wanted to do this for a long time.”
Her silver-white hair hung before Jiao Qingyin’s eyes, swaying with her movements.
Jiao Qingyin gritted her teeth. “Think carefully about the consequences.”
Her tone was harsh, but Al didn’t listen at all. Under Jiao Qingyin’s fierce gaze, Al’s right hand gently caressed the other’s cheek. Her voice trembled, sounding obsessive and crazed: “I’ve thought about it very clearly, and besides…”
Jiao Qingyin interrupted her: “Have you really thought it through?”
Al paused. Only then did she notice that Jiao Qingyin’s fury was no less than her own. Those eyes that once showed her tenderness were now flashing with a light that made one afraid to look directly.
She had grown used to Jiao Qingyin’s indulgence and to using spoiled behavior to push her luck. For a moment, she had forgotten their formal first encounter. Back then, when she bit Jiao Qingyin, the woman had forced her mouth open and branded her with the name “Puppy.”
And now, she wanted to do much more than just bite. How would the other—
“If you dare to continue, I will never allow you to come near me again.”
The icy words were like a sharp sword, piercing a hole through Al’s heart.
Wh-what—? What did she say…?
…She doesn’t want me anymore?
Jiao Qingyin’s words were brief, but they boomed in Al’s mind like a thunderclap. It took a long time for the latter to grasp the meaning. Combined with Jiao Qingyin’s previous statements, Al’s clear blue eyes were instantly stained with a mottled blood-red.
“…Everyone else is fine, but I’m not, is that it?”
Jiao Qingyin looked at her coldly, saying nothing.
Al’s chest heaved violently. Before meeting Jiao Qingyin, Al’s existence consisted only of survival and revenge. Like others at the bottom of society, she had never considered the direction of her life or had anything she desperately wanted to possess.
But a life of displacement had left her worldview somewhat influenced by those around her, and their attitude toward things they liked was generally the same—if you like it, snatch it. Regardless of the outcome, grab it first and worry about the rest later.
So, even if Jiao Qingyin hated her, she was going to hold onto her with a death grip.
She leaned down.
Al’s eyes were as red as blood, her heart full of unvented pain and jealousy, but the kiss she placed on Jiao Qingyin’s lips was gentler than any before, like a feather.
The sensation on her lips made Jiao Qingyin think of marshmallows, and Al indeed tasted as sweet as sugar. Looking at that face that seemed to be burning, Jiao Qingyin’s heart also began to glow hot.
Despite her rage, she found herself somewhat addicted to this kiss. If her hands hadn’t been tied, she might have involuntarily hugged Al—just as Al was hugging her.
Al didn’t know what she was missing. She began to try and go deeper, her once-clumsy movements gaining a bit of technique through practical application. Slowly, Jiao Qingyin’s brain began to heat up, and her consciousness became blurred.
Amidst the hazy awareness, Jiao Qingyin thought: This is bad.
Things were different from what she had expected. She didn’t expect Al to be so… so… intoxicating!
Jiao Qingyin’s heart beat faster and faster, and her expression slowly shifted. A blush crawled onto her cheeks, making her look as if she had been painted by the colors of spring. Expressions and words can be faked, but physiological reactions cannot.
Although she had been cold to Al all day, only she knew how difficult it was to resist responding to the other’s love. She liked Al much more than she imagined.
Liking her was real, but being angry was also real. If there were no mission and no System, what Jiao Qingyin would most want to do right now is break her bonds, grab Al’s chin, and use rough means to correct that terrible kissing technique.
Al didn’t know what Jiao Qingyin was thinking. Because she was too nervous, she kept her eyes closed, but now she realized she couldn’t see Jiao Qingyin that way. She endured the fluttering in her heart and opened her eyes.
Then she saw Jiao Qingyin with flushed cheeks and watery eyes. Like a ripe fruit glistening with dew, waiting to be plucked.
Al’s brain stalled for a few seconds. Her lips involuntarily separated from Jiao Qingyin’s, giving them both a chance to breathe.
After separating, Al’s thinking capacity returned somewhat. Looking at Jiao Qingyin’s still-angry expression, she instinctively stammered: “…S-sorry.”
Jiao Qingyin, having just recovered, heard this apologetic remark and almost laughed in anger. How could someone tie someone up, force a kiss, and then have their first reaction be an apology? It would be better if Al had been disrespectful of her wishes from start to finish; at least then she would have more reason to reject her.
Al’s feelings were much more complicated than Jiao Qingyin’s. On one hand, she wanted to forcibly possess all of Jiao Qingyin; on the other, she was anxious and didn’t want to see her sad.
Receiving no response to her apology, she stared blankly at Jiao Qingyin’s face—half dazed by her beauty, half slowly thinking about what to do next.
The first step was to snatch the person she liked. And now… Al looked at the suppressed Jiao Qingyin. The black tentacles tied around the woman’s snowy skin formed a vivid contrast, and the expression the other revealed was unprecedented.
Does… does this mean… she has already successfully snatched the person she likes? Not only snatched her, but touched, kissed, and hugged her. She could even reach out and poke the small dimple on Jiao Qingyin’s cheek as she wished.
But what was the next step? Al knew that only the final step remained—mating. But… but she and Jiao Qingyin were both women. Between women… how was it done?
Touching upon a blind spot in her knowledge, Al fell into deep thought.
What on earth is she looking at… Stared at by Al’s burning gaze until her scalp tingled, Jiao Qingyin felt the heat that had just receded from her face begin to rise again. She turned her head to the side, trying to use the cushions to hide her expression.
Al misunderstood the gesture.
“You hate looking at me that much?” Along with the sadness, Al’s thoughts immediately scattered: if the other didn’t want to look at her, who did she want to look at?
Reasonless jealousy sprouted in her heart. In a moment of heat, Al followed her instincts—she bit Jiao Qingyin’s neck. Out of affection, she didn’t use much force, but she still left a faint tooth mark.
After biting, she ground her teeth and threatened: “Look at me.”
Jiao Qingyin didn’t move, so she was forced by Al grabbing her chin into another round of kissing.
Being kissed into a daze, Jiao Qingyin almost lost her control. She wanted to grab this little rascal’s hair, pin her to the floor, and kiss her until she cried before letting go. But these thoughts only flashed through her mind. She knew she couldn’t put them into practice. If she really did that to Al, the protagonist, this world’s plot would completely collapse.
“Look at me,” Al emphasized, her voice trembling slightly.
She didn’t say her thoughts out loud, but as Jiao Qingyin recovered from the infatuation, she inexplicably understood what Al was thinking.
Al… was afraid. The back of the girl’s hand was strained with veins from the force she was using, but that force wasn’t being applied to Jiao Qingyin; it was being forcibly restrained by Al herself. She was at the end of her rope. If Jiao Qingyin said anything now, it might drive Al’s mental state to an extreme.
“…” Jiao Qingyin raised her eyes and met the gaze of the white-haired, blue-eyed little rascal. “Satisfied?”
Al let out a small whimper, like a dog whose tail had been stepped on, but the next second she quickly tightened the corners of her mouth, trying to pretend nothing happened. That strange sound definitely didn’t come from her…!
To distract Jiao Qingyin from her lapse, Al leaned down again. She realized she had become completely obsessed with the feeling of kissing Jiao Qingyin.
But this time, Jiao Qingyin didn’t follow her. She spoke directly to interrupt: “No.”
Al obeyed reflexively, stopping just before touching Jiao Qingyin, but then she remembered that she was the one in the dominant position now. So she held her ground and lowered her voice: “I’m the one who decides.”
Jiao Qingyin watched her quietly. Even though she said nothing, Al’s heart rate sped up, and her body scooted back. Only after backing up did Al realize how embarrassing her behavior was. She gritted her teeth and asked fiercely: “Why no?”
She was ready. No matter what Jiao Qingyin said, she wouldn’t waver. The other was already her prisoner; logically, she could do whatever she wanted to her.
However, Jiao Qingyin’s next words were like a bolt from the blue, causing her brain to instantly overload.
“Do you only want to kiss me? Don’t want to do anything else?”
Al froze. Of course she wanted to, she wanted to desperately, but, but…
Jiao Qingyin tilted her chin up slightly and pointed her gaze at Al. “You don’t know how?”
A crack appeared in Al’s feigned ferocity.
“I know! I… I’ve seen it!” Feeling looked down upon, Al spoke angrily, “I’ll do it right—”
She tore open Jiao Qingyin’s collar somewhat roughly, but her movements lost their previous decisiveness. The latter remained motionless, letting her act. Sure enough, the next second, after seeing something she shouldn’t, Al’s face turned beet red, and she slapped the torn piece of fabric back into place.
Throughout, Jiao Qingyin maintained that cold expression, but her red lips, slightly upturned eyes, and forehead hair damp with sweat were like a silent invitation, keeping Al’s blood at a boiling point.
How could Jiao Qingyin be so, so—Al searched for an adjective for a long time and finally squeezed out “beautiful.” She pressed down on the other; her whole body was burning, yet she didn’t know what to do next.
Looking at Jiao Qingyin like this, Al’s physical instincts and her remaining reason began to argue.
-
Instinct: What are you standing there for? Hurry up and touch her!
-
Reason: But if I touch her, will Jiao-Jiao get angry?
-
Instinct: So what if she’s angry! She said those things; we must make her regret it!
-
Reason: That makes sense—wait, no! Jiao-Jiao will be unhappy!
“Untie me, and I’ll teach you what to do, okay?”
In the midst of the internal conflict, Al heard Jiao Qingyin’s voice. She looked up blankly into the eyes of the person before her. She saw a long-lost tenderness in the other’s gaze and couldn’t help but want to nod.
The next second, her reason returned. She barely stopped the nodding motion and refused firmly: “No.”
Hearing this, Jiao Qingyin’s brow furrowed slightly. She said nothing, but after a moment, she slowly revealed the hands tied behind her back. “…My wrists are chafed.”
Hearing this, Al looked down. She indeed saw red marks under the black tentacles. She asked instinctively: “Does it hurt a lot?”
Jiao Qingyin pursed her lips, looking as if she wanted to say something but stopped. Her mid-length black hair hung messily before her eyes. The collar of her red dress had been torn by Al, revealing a large area of fair skin, and a few strands of sweat-dampened hair clung conspicuously to her collarbone.
As if bewitched, Al reached out to brush those strands of hair away. In the process, her fingertips inevitably swept across Jiao Qingyin’s skin. The cool temperature made the latter take a soft breath.
Hearing the sound, Al snapped back to her senses. She saw Jiao Qingyin close her eyelids with a slight look of disappointment and turn her head toward the cushions, refusing to look at her again. Her sad expression made Al feel as if her heart was being squeezed. The words to take it back blurted out: “Jiao-Jiao, you… you teach me.”
Al finished speaking and felt incredibly jealous: How does Jiao-Jiao know what to do? Has she really had this kind of contact with someone else? She…
Jiao Qingyin moved her wrists and let out a soft hiss of pain.
Seeing this, Al immediately scrambled to untie the bonds, retracting the black tentacles into her body. She then took Jiao Qingyin’s hand and pulled her up a bit. Jiao Qingyin sat up straight and moved her wrists; Al immediately applied a healing spell.
“…” Her wrists wrapped in warm magic, Jiao Qingyin looked up and met Al’s eyes.
Seeing the other looking at her properly, Al showed a mixture of surprise and guilt. She immediately leaned in, whimpering and admitting her mistake.
The puppy knows biting is bad. The puppy knows it was wrong.
Jiao Qingyin was rubbed twice by Al’s soft cheek, but she averted her gaze.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered.
“Wha—”
Suddenly, Al understood Jiao Qingyin’s meaning, but by then, no matter what she wanted to do, it was too late. Al closed her eyes with a look of shock and hurt. Jiao Qingyin slowly withdrew the hand that had released a spell.
Watching Al collapse weakly, Jiao Qingyin supported her falling body. Her expressionless face looked somewhat terrifying.
Al… was the only mistake on her straight path through life. And mistakes… need to be cleared.
