After the Beautiful Omega Was Targeted by His Straight Roommate - Chapter 39
Tao Ran was dressed in a set of grey pajamas. The fabric was thin and soft, gently outlining the slender silhouette of his youthful body. Because he had recently taken a hot shower, the fragrance emanating from him was several degrees stronger than usual, floating slowly within this small world enclosed by the bed curtains.
Qi Yuxiao climbed onto the bed, turned around on his knees, and pulled the curtains shut tightly, ensuring that the faint scent of chamomile remained trapped within this space, unable to escape.
This belongs exclusively to me.
For some reason, this thought popped into his head. The idea made Qi Yuxiao’s heart flutter with an inexplicable pleasure.
The bed sank beside him as Qi Yuxiao lay down. Tao Ran had originally been lying flat, but fearing Qi Yuxiao wouldn’t have enough room, he hurriedly turned on his side to face him.
Once they were settled, Tao Ran felt a familiar arm reach around his waist. The young man’s broad, hot palm pressed against the skin of his lower back through the thin pajamas, steadily transmitting a comforting warmth. With a gentle pull from Qi Yuxiao, Tao Ran followed the force and landed in his embrace.
On the small single bed, the two of them held each other without a gap, feeling the steady, rhythmic beat of each other’s hearts. The other two roommates were already asleep, and the dorm was silent in the deep night; even the smallest breath sounded loud. Therefore, after getting into bed, Tao Ran and Qi Yuxiao only held each other in silence. Both remained quiet, closing their eyes to drift into sleep.
A sliver of bright white light leaked through the gap in the ceiling curtains, hitting Tao Ran directly in the eyes. His delicate brows furrowed slightly as a sense of wakefulness stirred in his hazy consciousness.
The white light was quickly turned off, and heavy sleepiness suppressed his wakefulness, causing Tao Ran to sink back toward his dreams. However, in the next second—click—it was the sound of the dormitory door closing. Tao Ran, suddenly sensitive, was startled awake by the crisp sound.
He took a sharp breath and instinctively moved his body. Lifting his head slightly, his eyes met a face resting in quiet sleep, causing his breath to hitch.
The young man’s features were deep and well-defined, especially those eyes; the depths of his gaze were always cold and profound, giving off a sharp sense of distance. Only when he closed his eyes was that icy aura somewhat weakened.
Tao Ran’s vision dazed for a moment before refocusing. His lashes trembled like butterfly wings as his gaze settled on the young man’s face. From the brows and eye sockets down to the bridge of his high nose, and finally landing on Qi Yuxiao’s lightly pursed thin lips; the corners of his mouth were straight, exuding a touch of indifference.
A certain suppressed thought in his heart threatened to burst out once more.
Qi Yuxiao’s appearance and temperament, from head to toe, really… looked like an Alpha. And the highest, top-tier kind at that.
Upon waking, Tao Ran’s will was weak. Once this thought surfaced, it proliferated at an incredible speed, quickly sweeping through his brain again. Tao Ran froze, and his body within the young man’s warm embrace involuntarily stiffened. As they pressed close, the other’s heat traveled through their skin and into his body, simmering the blood in his veins.
Heat rushed to his cheeks, staining the thin skin with a crimson flush. That feeling of being flustered and confused returned, and Tao Ran struggled a little in his uncertainty.
The movement was enough to wake Qi Yuxiao. His eyelashes flickered, and he slowly opened his eyes. Since he had enjoyed a full night of deep sleep, the grogginess in his eyes lasted only a moment before fading into clear alertness.
Qi Yuxiao’s voice was low and lazy. “Why are you awake so early?”
Tao Ran felt like the blood had rushed to his head, and he shook it slowly in response. “I don’t know.”
Qi Yuxiao noticed Tao Ran’s unusual complexion and immediately reached out to touch his face. When his palm met the soft cheek, he frowned. “Why is your face so hot?”
“Do you have a fever?” His hand moved to Tao Ran’s forehead.
Tao Ran answered in a muffled voice, “No…”
“M-maybe it’s…” His lips pursed tightly as he murmured softly, hesitating to speak until the end of his sentence disappeared into the air.
Qi Yuxiao’s hand remained on Tao Ran’s waist. After a long silence, he asked, “Are you uncomfortable?”
Tao Ran: “…” Tao Ran: “N-not exactly.”
Actually, most of the time it was quite comfortable. Especially since Tao Ran was sensitive to the cold, someone like Qi Yuxiao—sturdy and warm—held a natural attraction for him.
Qi Yuxiao asked, “Then what is it?”
As he spoke, whether intentionally or not, Tao Ran felt the arm around his waist tighten further. Their bodies were very close, and the air around them seemed to rise several degrees. Tao Ran pushed against his chest with some resistance, choosing his words carefully. “…It’s just that you’re holding me too tightly. It’s a bit hot. I’m going to sweat.”
The young man’s tone tilted upward slightly. “Sweat?”
Tao Ran was about to answer when, in the next second, he felt the hem of his pajamas being lightly lifted. Then, a searing heat landed on the skin of his lower back, as if he had been branded.
Perhaps because of years of working out, Qi Yuxiao’s palms had a thin layer of callouses. He pressed firmly against the fair, tender skin of Tao Ran’s back without a gap, slowly rubbing and kneading. A numbing current of electricity surged up his spine, and Tao Ran’s body couldn’t help but shiver.
The waist beneath his palm was truly soft. Qi Yuxiao couldn’t resist kneading it a few more times before saying eerily, “It doesn’t seem like you’re sweating.”
Tao Ran: “…?”
Why was he touching his waist like this? Tao Ran was both confused and embarrassed, feeling like his face was hot enough to burn someone. “But… it’s already about to happen.”
His heart beat rapidly. In his distress, Tao Ran pushed against Qi Yuxiao with some force, and the two finally created a bit of distance. Taking advantage of the moment before Qi Yuxiao could react, Tao Ran nimbly performed a 360-degree turn on the narrow bed, facing the wall and leaving only the back of his dark, round head for Qi Yuxiao.
Tao Ran pressed his cheek against the wall; the icy surface cooled his burning face slightly, but his heart was still pounding violently.
Suddenly, a heat hit his lower abdomen as those slightly rough, hot palms reached over again. His fingertips pressed down slightly, and the flat belly sank in; the layer of soft flesh was exceptionally thin. Qi Yuxiao gave a dissatisfied click of his tongue. “You’ve lost weight.”
Tao Ran was distracted by these words and followed his lead. “Have I?”
“Mm.” Qi Yuxiao gripped Tao Ran’s side and gave it a squeeze. “You feel thinner than during the physical test.”
“I shouldn’t be.” Tao Ran blinked and turned back to look at Qi Yuxiao. “My appetite hasn’t changed lately.”
Qi Yuxiao’s voice was neither hot nor cold. “You go out to work every day, running back and forth. Of course you’d lose weight.”
Tao Ran realized, “So that’s how it is…”
The air was silent for a while. After a long time, Qi Yuxiao suddenly asked in a light voice, “Are you going to keep going in the future?”
Because of Tao Ran’s obvious avoidance, the two of them hadn’t really discussed this topic. However, he could answer this question now.
“No,” Tao Ran bit his lower lip and answered honestly. “It’ll be over in about ten days.”
“Mm.” Qi Yuxiao’s voice betrayed no emotion.
Tao Ran alternated pressing his cheeks against the wall. Feeling the heat had subsided, he turned back slightly to look at him. “Should we get up?”
Qi Yuxiao lifted his eyelids and looked at him. “Don’t you have no classes this morning?”
“I don’t…”
His back felt warm as he was suddenly pulled back into the familiar embrace; Qi Yuxiao had proactively pressed close.
“Then let’s hold each other for a bit longer.” He rested his forehead against Tao Ran’s soft hair, his nose pressing against the delicate skin of his slender neck, nuzzling affectionately. The fragrance in his breath was even richer. He repeated with satisfaction, “I’ll scent you for a bit longer.”
An itch spread from his vulnerable neck. Tao Ran’s shoulders shook slightly. Dazed and confused, he whispered, “…But aren’t you already awake?”
Logically, Qi Yuxiao should only need his pheromones when he needed to fall asleep. Why even now, right after waking up in the morning…
“But it really smells good.” Qi Yuxiao’s nose brushed gently over that sensitive area of skin as he sighed softly. “Even when I’m not suffering from insomnia, I still like it.”
Tao Ran’s heart skipped a beat. The cheeks he had worked so hard to cool down became burning hot once more, and even his neck and collarbone were stained with a crimson flush. He was in a daze, blinking in disbelief.
He had always thought that Qi Yuxiao was so attached to his pheromones because they helped him escape his sleep disorder—like a patient relying on medicine. So, in reality, even without insomnia, he still thought the pheromones smelled good and liked them?
—Even when I’m not suffering from insomnia, I still like it.
The words Qi Yuxiao just said echoed in his mind. Tao Ran’s thoughts were in a frantic state. In the chaos, he instinctively wanted to grab onto something, yet he also wanted to flee in distress.
Suddenly, the vulnerable spot on the back of his neck, hidden beneath his collar, was pressed by a warm thumb, which rubbed and pressed down with slight force.
It all happened too suddenly; Tao Ran was completely unprepared. The tender, weak gland was abruptly attacked by a heavy pressure. The sensitive receptors on the skin were crushed thoroughly and without mercy, sending a pleasurable surge of electricity straight to his brain.
White light flashed before Tao Ran’s eyes. His slender waist suddenly tensed, and heat-induced sweat immediately broke out on the tip of his nose. The heat from his cheeks traveled down to the lower part of his body. It felt as if something had been injected with spirit and was slowly waking up.
But Tao Ran could no longer worry about that. His consciousness had been snatched away by that powerful current of electricity. His gaze grew unfocused, leaving him only to instinctively part his lips and gasp softly for air. Qi Yuxiao’s voice reached his ears.
“This spot suddenly became very hot,” Qi Yuxiao said in a deep voice. Feeling the difference in temperature at that specific spot compared to elsewhere, he lifted himself up slightly in confusion. “What’s wrong with you?”
As he scanned Tao Ran’s curled body, Qi Yuxiao’s gaze inadvertently fell on the middle part where the clothing had puffed up like a balloon.
His body froze, and a flash of astonishment crossed his eyes.
