- Chapter 52 - Learning What Human Lovers Enjoy Doing
After dinner, Si Tang went into the study to work for a while.
Fan Yi’s study was exceptionally spacious, filled with the rich scent of books. The shelves were lined with a wide range of profound and esoteric volumes.
“It seems you really enjoy reading,” Si Tang remarked, her gaze skimming over the titles as she silently admired the collection.
Classics from every field were present in abundance.
It appeared that Mr. Fan Yi was a man of extensive knowledge.
Fan Yi stood on the other side of the bookshelf, the warm, soft light of the study reflecting off the tips of his soft hair, giving him an exceptionally gentle and harmless appearance almost like a domesticated, caring husband.
“I read when I’m bored,” he said in a leisurely tone, exuding an air of distracted elegance.
A faint blue light flickered in the depths of his eyes as his jade-like fingers glided across the bookshelf and pulled out a copy of Das Kapital. (Author’s note: The ultimate tool for showing offDas Kapital.)
Si Tang pressed her lips together in a slight smile, withdrew her gaze, and focused her attention on the computer in front of her, using software to design blueprints.
Fan Yi sat down at the desk opposite Si Tang. Whenever she looked up, she could see the man engrossed in his work, his slightly lowered eyelashes trembling faintly, his expression intensely serious. It truly lived up to the saying: a man is most attractive when he’s focused on his work.
But from an angle Si Tang couldn’t see,
Fan Yi calmly watched a video playing on his computer screen, occasionally tilting his head as if deep in thought, then nodding in understanding as he considered the feasibility of implementing what he’d learned.
The Trident nearby: My eyes are burning.
It was blindingly obvious!
The Trident blocked its senses. Whimpering, it was just an innocent and pure divine artifact, after all!
Yet the Sea God felt no shame whatsoever, intently studying everything that human lovers enjoyed doing. He even leisurely put on Bluetooth earphones to carefully savor the intimate dialogues between men and women.
What humans found too embarrassing to speak of was, to him, as normal and mundane as could be.
Of course, he simply couldn’t let Si Tang find out.
As the night deepened, Si Tang rubbed her wrists, stood up, and prepared to leave, while Fan Yi remained absorbed in his work at the computer.
“Fan Yi, keep working. I’m going back to my room to rest,” Si Tang said softly.
Fan Yi lifted his eyes, instinctively raising his head from the screen to look at Si Tang.
Si Tang’s heart skipped a beat.
In the stillness of the night, under the dim, warm light, his dark eyes, perfectly balanced in intensity, shimmered with a faint blue glow. For a moment, it reminded Si Tang of a wild beast lurking in the darkness, exuding an overwhelming sense of aggression.
It overlapped with the vague, indistinct blue eyes from her dream.
Si Tang closed her eyes briefly. When she opened them again, Fan Yi’s gaze was as gentle and warm as usual, filled with concern as he looked at her. His soothing voice reached her ears.
“Tang Tang, are you alright? Go back to your room and rest.”
“Mm, I’m a bit tired. I’ll head back now,” Si Tang replied with a slight nod.
Si Tang left the study and returned to her bedroom, instinctively checking the calendar on her phone. There were three days left until her follow-up appointment at the psychotherapy clinic.
In the study, after Si Tang had left,
Fan Yi stretched lazily, crossed his legs, and exuded an air of wicked indolence. His gaze turned cold as he glanced at the computer screen.
Somehow, his mind flashed back to those five days and nights three years ago in the cave, her soft, delicate voice echoing in his ears.
Then, he lowered his eyes, staring at a certain spot.
His entire body suddenly heated up, and his ears turned completely red.
Late at night, Si Tang fell into a deep sleep, drifting into her dreams.
The small island shrouded in night was filled with a chill reminiscent of a typhoon’s aftermath. A massive creature, like a monster from the deep sea, opened its bloody maw and swallowed a school of fish whole.
In the next moment, the monster transformed into human form. From behind, its silver hair swayed in the biting wind, its posture domineering and exuding an indescribable aura of bloodlust and cruelty.
She hid behind the reef, trembling with fear.
He suddenly turned his face slightly, the faint glow outlining his profile, but she couldn’t see him clearly.
A spine-chilling fear pierced her bones and blood, as if she were being crushed by an innate, overwhelming intimidation.
She stepped back, wanting only to flee, to escape as quickly as possible.
But,
“Oh, a human?”
A low, mocking voice tinged with strange excitement suddenly sounded behind her.
Si Tang jolted awake abruptly. The violent thumping of her heart refused to calm.
Tonight’s dream was unexpectedly different from the ones she’d had over the past three years.
Silver hair. What a coincidence. Could the monster in her dream be the mermaid from her dreams? But why would she imagine a mermaid as a monster?
Si Tang let out a soft sigh and headed to the bathroom for a shower. After washing up, she went downstairs for a drink of water.
Standing at the corner of the staircase, she noticed a faint glow emanating from the living room, accompanied by the indistinct noise of a television.
Curious, Si Tang peered through the gap beside the stairs and saw a figure sitting on the sofa, intently watching the screen. From her angle, she couldn’t make out what was playing, but by the sound, it seemed to be a movie or TV drama.
She slowly descended the stairs and asked curiously, “Still awake at this hour? What are you watching?”
The sudden sound of Si Tang’s voice from behind made Fan Yi freeze.
His pupils contracted sharply, and he instinctively reached for the remote to switch to a financial channel. But it was too late. Even the Sea God could be caught off guard. With a forceful use of divine power, he changed the channel, and the screen flickered to an animal documentary.
Although the switch was swift, Si Tang had already caught a glimpse of the passionate scene that had flashed across the screen moments before a pair of male and female leads locked in a fervent kiss.
Who would have thought that the composed and steady Mr. Fan Yi secretly enjoyed romantic idol dramas?
“Nothing, just watching randomly,” Fan Yi replied, his gaze drifting away, the tips of his ears tinged with a faint red, betraying a hint of flustered embarrassment.
Fan Yi had only been trying to learn how humans pursue their chosen partners.
He hadn’t expected to be caught by Si Tang.
Now, wouldn’t the image he had painstakingly crafted crumble just a little?
This side of the man was truly rare. Si Tang couldn’t help but tilt her head and study his face for a few seconds.
There was no denying it his face was incredibly handsome.
His excessively fair complexion was exquisitely delicate and vivid, with enchanting brows and eyes. The sharp arch of his brows and the upward curve of his narrow eyes lent a touch of cool severity, ensuring his features didn’t appear overly feminine.
His lips, with their graceful curve, looked softer than early spring petals. His nose was high and straight, a perfect model for plastic surgery. Dressed in a casual gray knit sweater, he appeared relaxed and at ease, with the slightly drooping collar hinting at prominent collarbones, exuding an undeniable allure.
Si Tang stared for a few seconds before quickly averting her gaze. Fortunately, Fan Yi wasn’t looking at her, so he probably hadn’t noticed her impolite behavior.
She didn’t notice how Fan Yi’s drifting gaze suddenly stilled, how his lips subtly curved without any change in expression, or how he slightly lifted his chin to present his flawless face at the most flattering angle in the dim light.
For the first time, the Sea God tasted the sweetness that came from his appearance.
On the nearby coffee table, the trident transformed into a gemstone badge silently watched as its master, Fan Yi, like a flamboyant peacock, casually rolled up his sleeve, casually rested his knuckles against his chin, and then slowly turned his gaze to Si Tang with a gentle smile. It was as meticulously staged as a movie scene.
Just then, the television serendipitously broadcast the narration of an animal documentary.
“Spring returns to the rainforest, and the mating season for birds of paradise has arrived. The males proudly display their most vibrant plumage, each flaunting their skills in elaborate dances and territorial disputes to attract the females.”
