- After Teasing the Crazy Mermaid, He Actually Deceived Me into Marriage
- Chapter 41 - Searching for the Meaning of "Duck" in My Mind
How could such a handsome face be wasted on a nightclub gigolo? Even if she wasn’t favored in the Si family, she was still a daughter of a prestigious household. Apart from the unsavory rumors from three years ago, her beauty alone made her a prize worth marrying for the sake of appearances.
Xie Changming swept a disdainful gaze over Fan Yi. The fabric of his clothes looked quite high-end probably rented from somewhere. He’d seen plenty of people like this.
“Is Third Young Master Xie implying that this man might be a gigolo who snuck in?”
“Miss Si, perhaps you should consider someone else? This man is most likely a fraud!” someone in the crowd declared confidently.
Standing at the back of the crowd, Si Xi was pleased to see the situation unfolding this way. Her eyes glanced at that exceptionally striking face, certain she had never seen this person before. She was convinced he must be some gigolo who had sneaked in, hoping to latch onto a wealthy woman.
8856, however, stared in shock at the disrespectful speakers, almost wanting to applaud their courage.
Were these people tired of living? Did they truly have no fear of having their souls devoured, never to be reincarnated?
It took Fan Yi three seconds to search his mind for the meaning of the word “duck.” His handsome brows instantly furrowed, and he instinctively narrowed his eyes. His fingers twitched slightly. Just as his murderous intent surged, he caught sight of the calm expression on the young woman beside him. After a moment of thought, he ultimately refrained from acting immediately.
But the glance he cast toward those people was as cold as if he were looking at corpses.
Secretly, he calmly transmitted a message to 8856: “These people are just NPCs in the fate line, right? Can I just eliminate them?”
“I can make it look like an accident break an arm or a leg, something like that without leaving a trace. They should be grateful I’m being merciful.”
Though phrased as a question, his tone left no room for argument.
A slightly amused voice transmission echoed in his ear, causing 8856 to shiver.
8856 knew that these people were likely in for some serious misfortune when they returned home.
“Xiao Tang, you’re too willful. You can’t just marry anyone you pick. This man’s background is unclear. It would be better for you to be more cautious. If you get involved with someone of questionable origins, what will others think of our Si family?” As she spoke, Chen Yue furrowed her brows in feigned worry and distress, though inwardly she was laughing.
Her gaze swept over the expressionless face beside Si Tang, and she felt an inexplicable sense of dread.
He’s just a gigolo, what’s he trying to pull off!
Si Chenfeng had long taken in the entire scene. Seeing that it was about to implicate him and the Si family’s reputation, he wished he could slap some sense into his rebellious daughter if not for the crowd watching. How could she pick just anyone to marry? How dare she choose some gigolo with an unknown background!
“A daughter of the Si family cannot marry someone of unknown origins. Xiao Tang, don’t embarrass your father!” Si Chenfeng demanded that Si Tang immediately choose someone else.
Si Tang ignored him.
She took a step forward, positioning herself protectively in front of Fan Yi.
“I, Si Tang, always keep my word. No matter who this person is, since I’ve chosen him, I won’t change my mind. From now on, he is part of the Si family, including his younger brother, Xiao Liu. Anyone who disrespects them will have to answer to me!”
Despite her words, she couldn’t help but glance at the composed man beside her, a growing suspicion in her heart that he might be even more extraordinary than she had imagined.
But for Si Tang, his identity didn’t matter in the slightest, they were merely engaged by agreement, just as she had told the man moments earlier.
As for Fan Yi, the moment Si Tang finished speaking, a flicker of softness crossed his eyes, and he curved his lips in amusement. In three thousand years, this was likely the first time someone had stood in front of him.
After Si Tang’s fierce defense, the crowd buzzed with murmurs. Some thought the Si family girl was being presumptuous and ungrateful, though they refrained from saying so aloud out of respect for Old Lady Yun.
“You don’t need to question why I have such confidence,” Si Tang declared coldly and calmly. “Because.”
She raised her hand, signaling the legal team, who stepped forward under her command and revealed Yun Wan’s previously undisclosed will.
At that moment, Si Chenfeng was filled with intense hatred. Why hadn’t Si Tang died outside three years ago? How dare she covet the Si family’s shares! He felt the urge to kill her right then and there.
Ignoring Si Chenfeng’s shocked and furious glare, Si Tang solemnly announced, “After marriage, I will inherit all 23% of the shares under my mother, Yun Wan’s name, and assume the position of director on the Si Group’s board!”
“I hope you will cooperate, Father, and transfer the shares to my name when the time comes.” These words were directed at Si Chenfeng, and she didn’t care in the least if it meant severing ties.
Under the crowd’s gaze, Si Chenfeng’s expression twisted, but mindful of appearances, he forced a strained smile. “This is your mother’s love for you. I have no objections.”
What objections could he have? The legal team was already in place, and his anger was futile.
The crowd was still reeling in shock. Chen Yue could hardly believe it, while Si Xi stared at the stage with bitter jealousy.
The young heirs began to lament even more that they hadn’t been chosen, having missed out on such a significant advantage. With Si Tang by their side, who would worry about not securing a place in their own families?
Yet Si Tang had chosen a man with no background, of unknown origins, and who might even work at an entertainment club!
At this point, He Moheng could no longer hold back. He even suspected that Si Tang had betrayed him, secretly involved with this man all along. Perhaps, as everyone speculated, this man was the top attraction at some club, and Si Tang was bewitched by his face!
Fuming inwardly but feigning hurt on the surface, he stepped forward and said softly, “Tangtang, stop joking around. I know this is just a prank, right? We haven’t broken up yet, how can you choose someone else?”
Si Tang slowly lifted her eyes to the familiar face. After more than two years together, she had never realized He Moheng was someone who could endure such humiliation.
Just to get his hands on her shares, he still hoped to deceive her with false pretenses.
She chuckled lightly, her tone half-joking. “Fine. Sign a prenuptial agreement, and I’ll change my engagement to you. Our assets will remain separate, and if I die unexpectedly, all my shares and property will be donated. Second Young Master He, do you dare?”
As she spoke, she didn’t notice the man beside her tense his jawline instantly.
He Moheng was stung by the coldness in her eyes, as if she had seen right through him. His throat tightened, and he found himself unable to speak.
How could he dare? That would mean all his efforts would come to nothing.
Si Tang paid no mind to his speechlessness, her lips curling slowly.
“Just kidding you’re not worthy.”
Her words seemed to strike a nerve in He Moheng. His handsome face darkened as anger finally tore through his facade.
“You’re clearly my girlfriend, why are you treating me like this? Have you been toying with me these past two years?”
Ignoring his fury, Si Tang calmly raised her wrist and linked arms with the person beside her.
“So what if I was toying with you?” She laughed, looking at him as if he were trash. “But I’m still no match for the Second Young Master He, juggling between sisters. Does that make you feel accomplished?”
Her words slammed an emergency brake on He Moheng’s emotions. He froze instantly, a dark, sharp glint flashing in his eyes.
The surrounding gazes turned inquisitive and gossipy. To protect his reputation, He Moheng knew he couldn’t admit to anything. Lowering his eyes, he softened his tone.
“Tangtang, you must have misunderstood. How could there be anything between me and your sister?”
“I saw it with my own eyes.”
“Tangtang, you must have seen wrong. If you keep making baseless assumptions, I really have no way to defend myself.”
Si Tang watched him coldly without a word. She had seen through his hypocritical mask by now. Lin Sui’s words echoed in her mind, perhaps even his act of saving her back then had been a scheme to win her trust.
Seeing her silence, He Moheng knew she had no proof.
But it also meant that the path through Si Tang was effectively closed. He felt both regretful and resentful, forced to swallow his anger as he watched the two clasp hands again.
As for Fan Yi, the tense line of his jaw didn’t soften in the slightest. Hearing the man call her “Tangtang” over and over, he truly wanted to cut out his tongue. Yet, he had to maintain a gentle facade in front of Si Tang, while inwardly he wished he could skin He Moheng alive!
He Moheng’s gaze shifted to the man named Fan Yi. His attention had been entirely on Si Tang earlier, but now he noticed that this man’s features bore a faint resemblance to his own. Outwardly, he appeared mild-mannered, but his eyes held a piercing aggression. When those dark pupils fixed on him, they seemed to shimmer with an eerie, almost supernatural blue like a venomous snake watching from the shadows.
A sharp, genuine killing intent was expertly concealed in public. Beneath that gentle, jade-like exterior lurked a beast.
He Moheng shook his head, scoffing at his own delusion. He was probably just some man who’d crawled out of a nightclub, nothing more.
