- Chapter 4 - Fever
Si Tang swallowed eagerly, finally feeling her throat less dry and sore.
Fan Yi watched her frail form lying on the haystack, his brow furrowing deeper and deeper. He then closed his eyes as if casting a spell, a white light flashed in his palm, and a box appeared beside him.
Si Tang found it miraculous and asked with difficulty, “Is this medicine?”
Fan Yi opened his eyes and replied, “I don’t know. Let’s try our luck.”
Si Tang, “?”
Next, Si Tang hazily saw Fan Yi open the box and dump out its contents some metal tools like pipe fittings, bolts, and nuts.
Si Tang, “…”
Fan Yi, expressionless, closed his eyes again, and the white light flashed once more in his palm. After repeating this several times.
Fan Yi stared at the pile of marine debris and a heap of unfamiliar modern items, lost in thought.
Si Tang finally understood. He was basically opening blind boxes here.
Each time, what he summoned were floating objects and material boxes from the sea likely he was using his mind to search the ocean.
Unable to hold back, Si Tang spoke up, “You could try looking for a box with a red cross on it.”
Fan Yi gave her a thoughtful glance, then cast the spell again. After a moment, a medical kit indeed appeared.
As he rummaged through it, Fan Yi expressed curiosity about these unfamiliar items. “The world of the new era is truly fascinating.”
Hearing this, it seemed he could travel between different worlds?
But Si Tang was already feverish and delirious, with no curiosity left to discuss the matter with him.
With Si Tang’s reminder, they indeed found fever-reducing medicine. After taking it, she fell into a deep sleep.
Seizing this moment of curiosity, Fan Yi pulled out a world manual from his space, flipping through it as if searching for something.
Hmm… this is it.
The world he was exiled to this time, number 8856.
No one knew that in the human world, everyone’s fate was a story written by the Goddess of Fate, much like a pre-programmed script.
Some were born as protagonists, some as supporting characters, some as villains, and even more as insignificant NPCs.
Fan Yi’s fingertips moved slightly as he roughly familiarized himself with the basic culture and order of this world.
Then, his gaze fell once again on the sleeping girl’s face.
Her breathing was even, lying peacefully on the haystack.
Fan Yi studied her, the flush on her cheeks hadn’t faded, her delicate, fair skin making the rosy hue even more pronounced, her features elegant and refined.
What did she resemble… Fan Yi searched for a new term.
Like the dolls in the shop windows of this world.
Fan Yi mused idly.
Hmm, among human specimens, she could be considered outstanding.
The faint light of dawn filtered through the trees, casting rays at the entrance of the cave. When Si Tang awoke, she felt weak all over. Touching her forehead, she was relieved to find the fever had subsided she had narrowly escaped death.
As if hearing the commotion, the figure standing at the cave entrance shifted, and in the next moment, Fan Yi’s stunningly handsome face appeared before her.
He stood against the light, elegant and poised, his refined features carrying a scholarly air, giving Si Tang an absurd sense of tranquil serenity.
“Awake?” he said lightly, raising a hand to stroke his chin. “I was thinking if you remained unconscious, I’d have no choice but to reluctantly eat you. After all, food is best when fresh.”
Si Tang, “…”
So much for tranquil serenity it was all an illusion.
After facing life and death, she no longer found death so terrifying. Little did she expect that, in the end, it would be this wicked fish who saved her.
Si Tang felt the sticky, un-dried sweat on her body from the fever and weakly said, “I, I want to take a bath.”
He paused for a moment, giving her a thoughtful glance. “Follow me.”
Fan Yi walked deeper into the side of the cave.
Si Tang weakly trailed behind him, and after a short while, her view widened slightly.
Next, she saw him pull out a book.
As he flipped through the pages, he cast a spell. With a flick of his finger and a flash of white light, a wooden bed, stone table and chairs, and a small spring appeared in the space before her eyes. There were even towels, toothpaste, and a toothbrush. It was simple but very tidy.
Si Tang picked up a tube of toothpaste in surprise.
These human necessities must have been gathered by him using his divine power from the ship.
A sparkle gathered in Si Tang’s eyes as she looked at him. “Could you also conjure a change of clothes for me?”
Fan Yi inexplicably felt that her gaze held a hint of admiration.
He slightly raised his chin and, as if compelled, conjured a large clothes rack with a variety of outfits.
For a moment, Si Tang forgot the danger around her and exclaimed repeatedly, “So amazing!”
Fan Yi leaned against the stone wall, casually crossing his arms as he watched her lively expressions.
Hmm… Wait, did he really need to provide this much clothing for his “food”?
But, her admiring gaze was quite satisfying.
Although raising a human was troublesome, it was unexpectedly amusing.
Life at the bottom of the sea in this world was too dull. Having this little thing to entertain himself was quite nice. On days when he was in a bad mood, he could just eat her, how perfect.
Fan Yi stared at her while secretly making plans.
Just as Si Tang picked up a set of clothes, she suddenly noticed his gaze.
There it was again, that look as if she were food.
Si Tang trembled inwardly. Her eyes swept past and suddenly landed on the cover of the book in his hand.
Human Care Manual
Si Tang, “…”
She felt she could be devoured by him at any moment. Looking around again, the place seemed more and more like a pig farm.
Just as Si Tang was feeling utterly hopeless, Fan Yi glanced at her messy hair and disheveled clothes and frowned slightly in dissatisfaction.
“Go get cleaned up.”
Hearing this, Si Tang walked over and touched the natural pool of water it was actually a hot spring.
As she was about to undress and step into the water, she suddenly remembered the fish-man was still there. She turned her head and, sure enough, he was staring at her as if studying her intently.
Si Tang, “Immortal Big Brother, could you please step aside? Even though you’re a god, men and women should maintain proper boundaries.”
Fan Yi snorted disdainfully.
But what was this “Immortal Big Brother” nonsense?
A trace of displeasure crossed his handsome face. “I told you my name is Fan Yi. Or you can call me Master.”
Si Tang, “…”
Damn “Master.”
If Si Tang hadn’t noticed that he said it with a completely serious and matter-of-fact expression, she would have thought it was some weird fetish.
“Fan Yi, Sir.” Si Tang opened her mouth, “Please step aside.”
Fan Yi curled his lips into a smile and vanished in the next instant.
It seemed he had left.
After Si Tang finished washing up, she felt as if she had been reborn. However, when she walked to the cave entrance, she found it blocked again by rocks. Fan Yi was nowhere to be seen, but a pile of miscellaneous human items was left nearby, along with two fish lying quietly on the rocks.
The fish had already been grilled to perfection.
Si Tang raised an eyebrow in surprise.
