Chapter 19: So White… I Really Want to Bite It…
Zhu Yunqi took two seconds to process the message.
In that time, she swiftly dealt with a gun-wielding interstellar pirate and began to dismantle the bomb they had placed on the outskirts of the control center. The Z3291 security personnel who came to help didn’t know how to dismantle an interstellar pirate’s bomb, so Zhu Yunqi had to do it.
While she worked, she tried to keep herself calm. “Report the details.”
Siren gave a concise summary of everything that had just happened, including the fact that Wen Yue had also been taken.
Zhu Yunqi understood. Wen Yue was Wen Lirong’s daughter. That group was probably after Wen Yue, and Shi Li happened to be with her, so they took Shi Li as well. Wen Yue was of great use to that group and wouldn’t be in danger for the time being. But Shi Li was different. She was a tag-along who was kidnapped, and those ruthless pirates wouldn’t go easy on a buy-one-get-one-free tag-along.
Her pupils constricted. Her fingers, which were dismantling the bomb, turned white. She was going crazy. But now was not the time for her to be worried.
Zhu Yunqi pinched her palm, and with as steady a voice as possible, she said, “Siren, continue tracking them. Don’t lose them again. Now, turn on location sharing. I’ll be there as soon as I’m done here. Also, contact the Security Department and have them link up with me.”
“Yes.”
Cutting the call, Zhu Yunqi continued to dismantle the bomb the pirates had planted. Her hands were shaking, and a thin, clammy layer of sweat had appeared on her palms. Siren’s words kept echoing in her mind—Shi Li was taken by pirates. Her life was now in the balance.
A forty or fifty-year-old Beta expert from the Security Department was next to Zhu Yunqi, recording with a floating camera. “Codename Silver Coil, the crisis here has been resolved. Could you also explain the principles and things to look out for? This is a rare learning opportunity.” The expert even put a microphone to Zhu Yunqi’s mouth and looked at her eagerly.
Zhu Yunqi wanted to say something, but she held back. “Slow down,” she told herself. “Shi Li has Siren following her, so she won’t be lost.” Shi Li was just an ordinary Federation citizen. She would be okay.
As she thought this, the movements of her hands became stiffer. She even slipped while disassembling the device because she was sweating so much.
Seeing that she wouldn’t answer, the Beta expert was too embarrassed to ask again and just continued to record with his floating camera. When she was completely done, he came after her again, trying to get her to say a few words. She pushed him away. Her gray eyes swept over his face indifferently. “I don’t have time,” she said without emotion.
Zhu Yunqi walked toward the Security Department person in charge of this operation and explained the follow-up matters to her, such as how to handle the interstellar pirates, how to repair the damaged parts of the control center, and how to report to their superiors… The person in charge took notes, and when she saw that Zhu Yunqi was about to leave after she had finished, she quickly stopped her. “Officer Zhu, you were injured in the battle just now. You should get treated first. The medical team has already been on standby nearby.”
Only then did Zhu Yunqi realize that she was bleeding a little from her shoulder. She declined the person in charge’s offer, ran to where she had parked her car, took off, and headed to the address Siren was sharing with her at the fastest possible speed.
…
The address Siren was sharing eventually stopped at an abandoned villa in the suburbs. After Zhu Yunqi got out of the car, Siren came forward and told Zhu Yunqi about the situation inside the villa.
“Four people, two Betas and two Alphas. The tentative rating is above A-class. Two people are at the villa’s entrance, and two are in the master bedroom on the second floor. There are many surveillance cameras. They were attacked once during the transfer, probably by someone from the Federation, and they lost the Beta, but they continued to take the Omega. She’s now in the master bedroom on the second floor. I followed them quietly, and they haven’t discovered me.”
Siren carefully observed Zhu Yunqi’s expression. She still didn’t know Shi Li’s name. And precisely because Shi Li was in their hands, Siren didn’t dare to act rashly. The Sea Serpent squad had little experience in hostage rescue. She was afraid that she would mess things up and harm Shi Li.
Zhu Yunqi quickly formulated a rescue plan. Although there were many of them, there were only two Betas, and the two Alphas were only A-class. “First, incapacitate them. Try to keep them alive. If you have no other choice, a single strike to kill them is fine,” Zhu Yunqi instructed.
Although she desperately wanted to tear these interstellar pirates to shreds, she remembered Colonel Cheng Yin’s order: keep them alive for questioning, as the ultimate goal was to capture the mastermind.
The two of them, one on the left and one on the right, easily and cleanly dealt with the two Betas guarding the first floor. One of them was the bald man Siren had locked onto at the bar. When the bald man fell to the ground and saw the two ghost-like women in front of him, he cursed in fear and was met with a kick from Zhu Yunqi that shattered his knee. Siren took out a special rope and tied the two of them back to back, cutting off their communication devices.
Zhu Yunqi had just reached the stairs when a gunshot suddenly rang out from the second floor. A moment later, a disgusting curse echoed on the second floor, and the sound of a door being opened was heard.
“Damn it, what is Baldy, that idiot, doing? He didn’t even search them—where’s the medical box, Baldy! Dali! That Omega had a gun, you two useless Betas! Is someone here?!” It was a male Alpha. Baldy and Dali must have been the Betas she and Siren had just taken down.
At the same time, Zhu Yunqi smelled a domineering and unpleasant Alpha pheromone. Not good!
She advanced silently like a silver-ringed sea snake swimming on the seabed. The Alpha didn’t notice her presence at all. He only heard the commotion Siren made on the first floor and thought that someone had tracked them down there. But just as he turned the corner of the stairs, he was hit by a particle short knife that plunged into his abdomen!
An Alpha’s physical strength and resistance to attacks are much higher than a Beta’s. His body was also much larger than Zhu Yunqi’s. The stab wound didn’t completely incapacitate him. He immediately backed away and pulled out the short knife, his blood spraying out. At the same time, he sent a signal to his companion who was still in the room.
The Alpha pirate spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva and cursed, wanting to give the woman who had ambushed him a piece of his mind. But the next moment, the woman who had attacked him was gone again. The entire hallway was empty. The lights were out, and it was dark. The fear of death enveloped his head, turning the place into a gate to hell.
The Alpha pirate was terrified, covering his wound with one hand. He took out his weapon and cautiously retreated toward the stairs. How could those dogs from the Federation track them down so quickly! They had been trying to avoid detection all along, yet they were still found! When did the Federation Security Department become as disgusting as the people from the Silver Serpent Legion in the Black Star Belt?
The next moment, in a flash, the Alpha pirate felt a sharp pain in his shoulder. He subconsciously tried to grab the handrail to steady himself, but the other party seemed to have already anticipated his move. He grabbed nothing and was forced to fall backward.
Zhu Yunqi handed him over to Siren, who had just arrived, and she herself kicked open the door to the master bedroom on the second floor. The room was filled with suffocating smoke. The sound of glass shattering could be heard, and a black figure flashed through the wide-open window.
The last remaining Alpha knew he couldn’t hide and ran away first. Zhu Yunqi reacted quickly, raised her hand, and fired a shot at the black figure. The tracking particles carried by the bullet barely touched the person’s clothes.
She put away her gun and found the Omega huddled in the corner. Zhu Yunqi’s heart ached. She walked over and knelt down in front of Shi Li. A mini particle gun, the one Zhu Yunqi had given her a few days ago, lay on the floor by Shi Li’s feet, violently stepped on and broken.
“Shi Li, look up and at me,” Zhu Yunqi said softly, her fingertips carefully touching Shi Li’s face. Her gaze fell on Shi Li’s torn collar. There were a few drops of blood that hadn’t dried yet on her neck, and the smell of blood rushed to Zhu Yunqi’s nose. Shi Li didn’t answer. Zhu Yunqi knew that the pirates wouldn’t be so kind as to just leave, so she turned on her flashlight and checked the room. Sure enough, she found a timed bomb that had just been placed at the foot of the bed, with less than a minute left before it exploded. This pirate wanted to kill them both.
Zhu Yunqi quickly dismantled the bomb. Shi Li being right there, alive, made her feel much more stable. While she worked, she gently comforted Shi Li. “Wait for me for a moment. It’ll be done soon. You’re safe now.”
After dealing with the bomb, Siren also dealt with the Alpha Zhu Yunqi had kicked down the stairs. When she saw Shi Li huddled miserably in the corner, she gasped. She decided to continue tracking the remaining fugitive. It was better to leave this situation to Captain Zhu.
Zhu Yunqi untied the ropes on Shi Li’s body and brushed away the strands of hair stuck to her face. Shi Li’s face was stained with blood, but fortunately, they were just scratches and not serious. She had her eyes closed, her pearly teeth biting her lip, as if she were enduring something.
Zhu Yunqi held her shoulders. “Shi Li, look at me. It’s Zhu Yunqi. Are you hurt anywhere? Should I take you to the hospital now?”
Hearing her voice, Shi Li slightly opened her eyes. Her watery eyes looked at the worried and anxious Alpha in front of her. Her vision was a little blurry. The Alpha’s usually meticulously combed hair was a little messy now, with many fine, soft hairs scattered around her temples, covering some of her sharp features and making her look softer than ever before. Her brows were tightly furrowed with worry, her gray eyes staring intensely at her, containing a hint of melancholy that made one think. Because of the intense physical activity, a blush appeared on the Alpha’s cheeks, her lips were rosy, and her mouth was slightly ajar as she panted.
Shi Li’s gaze shifted downward. Zhu Yunqi’s body was wrapped in a tight, soft fabric. Her shoulders and neck were graceful yet powerful. Perhaps because of the fighting, she was a little hot and pulled her collar down, revealing her delicately curved collarbone. The chest below her collarbone rose and fell with her breathing.
A body more perfect than a model’s. But it was strictly covered by black fabric, making it seem even more ascetic.
Shi Li couldn’t help but swallow. The skin on Zhu Yunqi’s collarbone was so smooth, so white… I really want to bite it…
At this moment, she really wanted to get close to the body in front of her… She wanted to know if a hot, passionate heart was also hidden inside this cold, ascetic body…
