After Secretly Marrying the Top Celebrity, I Fell in Love - Chapter 25
The night was very quiet, with all sounds hushed.
“…!” Bai Yiyan’s face was flushed, and her heart was pounding wildly, fluttering like trembling wings.
Bai Yiyan clearly felt the heat on her face continuously rising.
Unsure how to get Ye Manqing to release her hair, Bai Yiyan could only let her be. She maintained the “one-up, one-down” posture, with her hands braced at Ye Manqing’s sides. After Ye Manqing finished kissing her hair, she proceeded to wrap that strand around her index finger.
Seemingly finished playing, Ye Manqing finally released the strand of hair. Instead, she wrapped both arms around Bai Yiyan’s neck, her deep eyes, like scattered starlight, gazing at Bai Yiyan.
“Yanyan, kiss me.”
“…” Bai Yiyan was a little startled, her eyes flickering.
Seeing the other party’s delay, Ye Manqing’s expression gradually dimmed.
“Why won’t you kiss me?”
“I…” Bai Yiyan swallowed, her ears starting to burn.
“Yanyan, kiss me.” Ye Manqing’s narrow, snow-fox-like eyes misted over slightly, urging her.
“…” Bai Yiyan froze, unsure how to respond.
To be precise, she didn’t know how to deal with a drunk Ye Manqing.
Drunk, Ye Manqing seemed like a different person, not only calling her so intimately but also insisting that she kiss her.
Bai Yiyan lowered her gaze, deliberately avoiding Ye Manqing’s burning look. She didn’t dare to look directly, much less dwell on it.
Suddenly, Ye Manqing leaned forward, tightly clasping Bai Yiyan’s neck, and sealed the other’s lips airtightly.
“…!” Bai Yiyan’s bright eyes suddenly widened, her eyelashes trembling slightly.
This time, under Ye Manqing’s guidance, Bai Yiyan learned how to breathe during a kiss.
…
The next morning, Ye Manqing woke up with a bad headache; her head felt like it was about to explode. After a while, she managed to prop herself up and lazily leaned against the headboard.
Ye Manqing instinctively turned her head; no one was next to her on the pillow.
She retracted her gaze, extended her beautiful swan neck, resting her occipital bone against the headboard. With unhurried fingers, she rubbed her temples, attempting to alleviate the headache caused by the hangover.
Her thoughts slowly returned, and fragmented memories from before and after getting drunk pieced together bit by bit, yet never forming a complete picture.
Ye Manqing had never blacked out like she had last night. So she tried hard to recall what she had done while drunk.
She vaguely remembered them kissing. And after that… she couldn’t quite recall.
Lowering her gaze, Ye Manqing looked at the pajamas she was wearing. There was no one else in the house, so it was clearly Bai Yiyan who had changed her clothes.
Ye Manqing paused, suddenly lifting her arm and lightly sniffing near her nose. There was no smell of alcohol on her, replaced instead by a faint scent of body wash.
It seemed she had even bathed her.
After a brief rest, Ye Manqing, enduring the headache, got out of bed, because she wanted to see where Bai Yiyan had gone and what she was doing.
After washing up, Ye Manqing went downstairs in her slippers, heading straight for the living room.
The living room was empty.
Ye Manqing stood in the center of the living room, her back straight, her demeanor graceful. Her dark hair was pulled up with a pure white jade hairpin at the back of her head, with a few wisps scattered and clinging to the back of her neck.
From the direction of the kitchen, there was the sound of kitchenware clattering. Although faint, the sound was caught by the usually sharp-eared Ye Manqing.
She was in the kitchen.
At the kitchen doorway, Ye Manqing stood tall, leaning against the wall, her gaze level with the front.
In the morning sun, Bai Yiyan was wearing champagne-colored silk pajamas, her long hair tied up in a loose bun at the back of her head. Below her swan neck were model-worthy shoulders and a thin back.
Sunlight streamed through the window, enveloping Bai Yiyan in a light golden halo. The sun meticulously and fondly traced the woman’s slender figure. Each stroke and line was full of tenderness.
This was the first time Ye Manqing had seen Bai Yiyan cooking.
The stunning first glimpse a month ago on the set had captivated and attracted her. Now, the sight of Bai Yiyan in an apron, cooking, made Ye Manqing’s heart flutter.
In reality, Ye Manqing herself didn’t fully understand when exactly she had fallen for Bai Yiyan. She only knew that when she saw the line, “I didn’t expect her kissing scenes to be so good,” on her phone, Ye Manqing experienced the taste of jealousy for the first time.
Yes, she was jealous! Even though the object of her jealousy was her own friend, she was still jealous, madly so!
To shake off the jealousy in her heart, and even more to completely put her mind at ease, Ye Manqing thought of marriage.
That’s right! Only through marriage would Bai Yiyan belong only to her.
So, Ye Manqing took the initiative to find Bai Yiyan. When they were still just ordinary friends, she proposed to Bai Yiyan, asking if she would marry her.
Unexpectedly, everything went smoothly beyond expectation.
Just as Ye Manqing’s thoughts were wandering, Bai Yiyan’s soft voice suddenly sounded from the front, interrupting Ye Manqing’s train of thought.
“Teacher Ye, please drink this honey water.” Bai Yiyan had moved to stand in front of Ye Manqing without her noticing and handed her a glass of cooled honey water.
“Thank you.” Ye Manqing took the honey water with both hands and, after taking a sip, instinctively frowned slightly.
“What’s wrong, Teacher Ye?” Bai Yiyan had been watching her and naturally noticed the frowning immediately.
“It’s a little too sweet.” Saying this, Ye Manqing fluttered her eyelashes, first glancing at the glass she held, then looking at Bai Yiyan.
“Can I not finish it?” The woman’s tone was as gentle as usual, and her eyes held a hint of a plea as she looked at Bai Yiyan.
“…” Bai Yiyan paused slightly, then nodded.
The image of Ye Manqing acting spoiled the night before, and the scene of them kissing, suddenly flashed into her mind.
And in front of her, Ye Manqing was struggling to drink the honey water, sipping it very slowly.
Just as Ye’s mother had said, her daughter was very picky about food and drink.
As a genuine Beijinger, Ye Manqing could drink douzhi (fermented mung bean milk), which is considered the ceiling of “dark cuisine” by outsiders. Yet, she had many seemingly ordinary dietary taboos in the eyes of most people, such as not drinking honey.
“Give it to me.” Seeing this, Bai Yiyan reached out to take the honey water from Ye Manqing’s hand.
Ye Manqing didn’t force herself either, handing the honey water back to Bai Yiyan, as she genuinely couldn’t stand the taste of honey; another sip and she would likely vomit.
“Should I make you a cup of tea then?” Bai Yiyan, holding the glass, thought for a moment and asked.
Ye Manqing hummed and pointed towards the row of cabinets to the right behind Bai Yiyan, saying, “The tea leaves are in the first cabinet, the middle shelf.”
Turning, Bai Yiyan first placed the honey water on the island counter, then opened the first cabinet on the right. She looked at the few neatly arranged tea caddies inside, and turned to look at Ye Manqing.
“Teacher Ye, what kind of tea would you like?”
“Green tea.”
“Okay.”
After the brief exchange, Bai Yiyan took out a caddy labeled “Shengdi Maojian.” Shengdi Maojian is a type of green tea, known for its elegant and fresh aroma, bright and fresh tea liquor, and mellow, sweet taste.
…
In the living room, Ye Manqing held a cup of steaming Shengdi Maojian in one hand and her phone against her ear with the other, talking facing the floor-to-ceiling window.
The expression on her face gradually darkened, but the words that left her mouth maintained respect.
“Since you don’t wish to see me, then I won’t disturb you.”
“I was just about to tell you something.” Ye Manqing looked at the bright sunshine outside the window and smiled slightly, filled with happiness.
“I got married.”
Sure enough, this statement triggered a furious roar from the person on the other end of the line; one could feel the unbridled anger even through the receiver.
“That’s right, to a woman.”
“Please take care of yourself.”
The conversation ended just as footsteps sounded from behind her.
“Teacher Ye, breakfast is ready!” Bai Yiyan’s voice rang out behind her.
Ye Manqing put away her phone and turned around, the cloud on her face instantly vanishing. She smiled faintly at Bai Yiyan.
“Alright.”
In the spacious and bright dining room, the two women quietly ate breakfast at the dining table.
For breakfast, Bai Yiyan had made sandwiches, paired with warm milk to soothe the stomach. The sandwiches looked appetizing, with crispy lettuce wrapping two slices of bacon, a slice of cheese, and a small slice of tomato.
Due to the hangover, Ye Manqing’s stomach felt a bit uncomfortable. Even though the sandwich Bai Yiyan made was delicious, she only managed to eat half of it.
“Teacher Ye, is the sandwich not to your liking?” Bai Yiyan noticed Ye Manqing’s lack of appetite and, after thinking for a moment, asked.
“No, the sandwich you made is very delicious,” Ye Manqing said. “My stomach is just a bit unsettled.”
“Do we have any stomach medicine at home?”
“Yes, I’ll take it after I finish eating.”
Before long, Ye Manqing finished the last sip of milk in her glass, and as she put the glass down, she looked at Bai Yiyan.
Ye Manqing: “Xiao Bai, we are married now, shouldn’t we change how we address each other?”
Bai Yiyan: “Okay.”
Ye Manqing: “In front of outsiders, you can continue to call me ‘Teacher Ye.’ In private, you can call me ‘Manqing.'”
“Of course, if you are used to calling me ‘Teacher Ye,’ you can continue to do so.”
Bai Yiyan nodded: “En.”
Ye Manqing: “Then can I call you ‘Yanyan’?”
“…” Bai Yiyan was slightly stunned, and gently pursed her lips. “You can.”
Ye Manqing noticed the change in Bai Yiyan’s expression, and suddenly changed the subject, asking, “I caused you trouble last night, didn’t I?”
Bai Yiyan immediately understood and shook her head: “No.”
Ye Manqing’s pair of translucent, light brown eyes gazed quietly at Bai Yiyan, sincerely thanking her: “Yanyan, thank you for taking care of me last night.”
Bai Yiyan’s red lips opened and closed, and after a moment of silence, she uttered three words.
“You’re welcome.”
With Ye Manqing’s reminder, the scene of Ye Manqing calling her “Yanyan” while kissing her last night immediately popped into Bai Yiyan’s mind.
As well as the later situation when she helped Ye Manqing bathe.
“Yanyan, hug me.”
“Yanyan, why don’t you come and bathe with me?”
In the misty bathroom, the woman in front of her used her wet arms to hook Bai Yiyan’s neck, her snow-fox eyes, covered with a film of water vapor, half-closed.
“Yanyan, I love kissing you. Will you kiss me, please?”
Bai Yiyan, squatting outside the bathtub, her heart beating wildly, quietly gazed into Ye Manqing’s eyes, and slowly leaned in.
For the first time, Bai Yiyan voluntarily kissed Ye Manqing’s lips.
