After Secretly Marrying the Top Celebrity, I Fell in Love - Chapter 23
The night was silent, save for the myriad stars twinkling in the sky.
The fine, noiseless summer wind blew from the bright day into the night’s dream. Like a lover’s hand, it gently brushed over the leaves of the various green plants in the garden, eliciting a soft “rustle.”
The fragrance of the flowers was also carried away on the wind, filling the garden.
Under the snowy moonlight, Ye Manqing lightly closed her eyes, her long, dense lashes, like raven feathers, cast downwards.
The kiss deepened little by little.
Ye Manqing released the hand that was pressing on Bai Yiyan’s occiput, letting it slide down gently until her five fingers rested on the back of Bai Yiyan’s neck, her fingertips threading through the soft hair.
Immediately after, Ye Manqing’s other hand curved around Bai Yiyan’s waist. With a slight pull, she drew Bai Yiyan completely into her embrace.
Gradually, a gorgeous flush of crimson spread around the corners of Bai Yiyan’s eyes.
Bai Yiyan was somewhat at a loss; she didn’t know how to breathe while kissing. The heat on her cheeks climbed little by little, her entire face becoming red and hot.
In truth, Ye Manqing wasn’t doing much better; she only knew how to breathe better than Bai Yiyan, but was equally inexperienced.
Finally, because Bai Yiyan truly didn’t know how to catch her breath during the kiss, and the feeling of suffocation intensified, she had no choice but to push Ye Manqing away.
Tilting her head slightly, Bai Yiyan took several deep breaths of the long-missed fresh air. Her chest heaved violently, her heart pounding incessantly.
Ye Manqing felt a little unsatisfied, but she also knew that everything needed to be taken slowly, a step-by-step process, especially when it came to feelings.
The corners of her own eyes were faintly red, and she let the vivid heart in her chest beat in a chaotic rhythm. After steadying her heartbeat, Ye Manqing very naturally took Bai Yiyan’s hand.
“Let’s go, it’s getting late. Time to head back,” Ye Manqing attempted to catch Bai Yiyan’s gaze, but the other woman avoided it.
“Mm,” Bai Yiyan lowered her head, lightly pressing her moist, glossy lips together.
Bai Yiyan’s gaze, along with the moonlight, fell upon their clasped hands.
…
Bai Yiyan came out after taking a shower, her long hair tied up in a bun on the back of her head, a few strands of damp hair clinging to her nape.
She was wearing a set of champagne-colored silk pajamas, the fabric smooth and skin-friendly.
The shower had lasted a little longer, and the woman’s cheeks were flushed pink from the steamy mist in the bathroom, a blush appearing through her fair skin.
In the bedroom, Ye Manqing stood facing the floor-to-ceiling window in a white bathrobe, the hem of which reached just above her thighs, exposing a pair of slender, straight long legs.
The entire woman was coated in a layer of soft moonlight, her dark hair like clouds, the slightly curled tips lightly sweeping her waist.
Ye Manqing held a square, sapphire blue velvet ring box in her hand, her agile fingers turning the box, her eyelashes slightly lowered in contemplation.
Hearing footsteps behind her, Ye Manqing instantly snapped back to reality, turning around unhurriedly and giving Bai Yiyan a smile even gentler than the moonlight.
“Xiao Bai, come here.”
Bai Yiyan nodded lightly and stepped towards the floor-to-ceiling window, coming to stand before Ye Manqing. She stopped when they were a step apart.
Naturally, Bai Yiyan had noticed what Ye Manqing was holding. She also understood that a jewelry box of that size and square shape was a ring box.
Because she had prepared one, too.
Ye Manqing’s cold and deep eyes gazed into Bai Yiyan’s eyes, her thin lips parted slightly, and she said softly, “Give me your hand.”
“The left one.”
Bai Yiyan didn’t speak, but complied, extending her left hand toward Ye Manqing.
Ye Manqing gently lowered her eyelashes, opened the ring box in her hand, and took out the pigeon-egg sized diamond ring, holding it between her fingers.
Next, Ye Manqing gently cupped Bai Yiyan’s left hand with one hand, and slowly and solemnly slipped the large diamond ring onto Bai Yiyan’s left ring finger.
The diamond ring was very beautiful, its design opulent, the diamond refracting dazzling little flashes of light. The diamond on the setting was indeed the size of a pigeon’s egg, hence the name “pigeon’s egg.”
Ye Manqing admired the ring on Bai Yiyan’s hand and offered a sincere compliment.
“It’s very beautiful.”
She wasn’t just referring to the diamond ring, but also to Bai Yiyan’s hand.
Bai Yiyan’s hand was very beautiful, her fingers long and fair, her knuckles distinctly defined, slender yet not frail. Her semi-transparent fingernails were neither polished nor long, their color a healthy light pink.
“Teacher Ye,” Bai Yiyan’s gaze briefly lingered on the diamond ring for a few seconds before she looked up at Ye Manqing, “I have something for you too.”
“Oh?”
“Teacher Ye, wait for me a moment.”
“Alright.”
Watching Bai Yiyan turn and leave the bedroom, Ye Manqing habitually folded her arms, a hint of anticipation showing in her eyes.
She was anticipating what kind of gift Bai Yiyan was going to give her.
Ye Manqing guessed many possibilities, but never guessed it would be a diamond ring, and one with decent clarity and cutting craftsmanship, the diamond looking to be about one carat in size.
By estimation, the price of this diamond ring should be around forty to fifty thousand.
Bai Yiyan held the open ring box in one hand and the one-carat diamond ring between her fingertips of the other, quietly staring at the ring.
“Teacher Ye, I don’t have much money, so I could only afford a diamond ring this big,” Bai Yiyan lowered her eyes, her voice very soft.
“It’s one carat.”
It didn’t look bad when viewed alone; the one-carat diamond was quite large. But in comparison to the “pigeon’s egg” Ye Manqing had given her, the difference in size was more than a little.
“How much did it cost?” Ye Manqing looked up, her fox-like eyes gazing at Bai Yiyan, her voice as gentle as water.
“Not much,” Bai Yiyan replied.
“How much is ‘not much’?” Ye Manqing persisted, her beautiful eyebrows slightly furrowed.
“Forty thousand,” Bai Yiyan, seeing she couldn’t evade, answered truthfully.
“Is that all your savings?” Ye Manqing’s attractive eyebrows slightly knitted, asking her guess.
Bai Yiyan nodded in admission.
At that moment, Ye Manqing’s expression became complicated, and a film of moisture gradually coated her translucent, tea-colored pupils.
Quickly adjusting her emotions, Ye Manqing took Bai Yiyan’s hand and, in turn, placed the diamond ring into her palm.
“…” Bai Yiyan was momentarily stunned, something in her heart seeming to plummet instantly. Her eyes felt a little sore and very uncomfortable.
“This… must be the wedding ring,” Ye Manqing curved her eyes, a gentle smile blossoming at the corners of her mouth.
“Should I put it on myself?”
With that, Ye Manqing extended her left hand to Bai Yiyan; her fingers, like carved jade, were bathed in moonlight, the tips of her translucent nails sharp and slender.
Bai Yiyan’s heart skipped a beat. After a brief moment of distraction, she gently cupped Ye Manqing’s left hand with one hand, and with the other, slipped the diamond ring onto Ye Manqing’s left ring finger.
She slowly pushed it down to the base of the ring finger.
Under the light, the diamond ring refracted dazzling light, making the already long fingers appear even more beautiful.
“Xiao Bai, this diamond ring is very beautiful,” Ye Manqing had been focused on Bai Yiyan putting the ring on her, her eyes faintly glistening with moisture.
“I like it very much.”
Ye Manqing shifted her gaze from the diamond ring, her eyes gradually moving up, finally resting on Bai Yiyan’s two moist lips.
Her thin lips were lightly pressed together, silently exuding an enormous attraction.
Ye Manqing: “Xiao Bai, may I kiss you?”
Bai Yiyan’s face flushed, and she then cooperated by lightly closing her eyes.
Ye Manqing tilted her head and leaned in, pressing her two soft lips down, lightly covering Bai Yiyan’s lips.
Driven by Bai Yiyan’s naturally steady nature, she tried her best to restrain her chaotic heartbeat, only slightly fluttering her butterfly-wing-like long eyelashes.
