After Secretly Marrying the Top Celebrity, I Fell in Love - Chapter 19
In the early morning, a faint golden ray of sunlight streamed through a floor-to-ceiling window, barely reaching the expensive silk carpet.
On the soft white bed, Bo Yiyan lay on her side, eyes gently closed. A head of dark hair was scattered across the fluffy white pillow, the dark strands contrasting with the woman’s fair complexion.
Her features were exquisitely defined, her eyelashes long and thick, like two small brushes, distinct and naturally curled.
Suddenly, a playful stream of sunlight slanted across Bo Yiyan’s high nose bridge.
The next second, the pair of eyes beneath her lids slid from side to side. Following that, Bo Yiyan slowly opened her eyes.
The sunlight was a little dazzling, and Bo Yiyan instinctively used the back of her hand to shield her eyes.
The bedroom was silent. The woman’s long eyelashes lightly brushed against the back of her hand, creating a subtle “shasha” sound.
Sleepiness gradually faded, and her mind slowly became clear.
“…” The hand shielding her eyes froze for a moment, then she lowered it and turned her head to look beside her.
It was not as she had imagined; the space next to her pillow was already empty. The pillow had the indentation of being slept on, indicating that someone had indeed slept beside Bo Yiyan last night.
Somewhat to her surprise, Bo Yiyan had slept very well last night.
She had expected to suffer from insomnia, but not only did she not, Bo Yiyan had slept until she woke up naturally.
In reality, Bo Yiyan was not used to sharing a bed with others.
Only when she was at the orphanage, before the age of six, would she squeeze into a bed with other little girls, poke her small head out from under the covers, look at the stars outside the window, and imagine what her father and mother looked like.
After the age of six, the orphanage had to enforce a strict separate sleeping arrangement.
Occasionally, Xu Xing would stay over at Bo Yiyan’s place. There was only one bed in the rented apartment, and the two could only squeeze onto it. Every time this happened, Bo Yiyan would not sleep well and often suffered from insomnia.
She didn’t know where Ye Manqing got her magic, but sleeping with her not only prevented insomnia but also resulted in a very sound sleep. It was a dreamless, very peaceful night.
After a good sleep, she felt exceptionally refreshed.
Bo Yiyan lifted the quilt and got out of bed. The moment her toes touched the soft carpet, she heard footsteps coming from outside the bedroom.
Following the sound, Bo Yiyan looked up.
The footsteps stopped at a certain moment. Outside the door, there was first a soft knock, followed by Ye Manqing’s familiar, cool voice.
“Xiao Bai, are you awake?”
“Breakfast is ready.”
Bo Yiyan craned her neck towards the bedroom door and slightly raised her voice.
“I’m awake! I’ll come after I wash up.”
The person outside replied with an “okay,” and then the sound of footsteps resumed, gradually fading away.
Bo Yiyan went into the bathroom and stood in front of the vanity, pulling her long hair up and securing it into a high bun at the back of her head.
The glass cabinet above the vanity held several bottles and jars, all high-end skincare products that Ye Manqing usually used.
After washing up, she meticulously went through her skincare routine.
Bo Yiyan emerged from the bedroom with a face where the lotion and cream had not been fully absorbed.
She looked up and saw Ye Manqing, fully dressed, sitting on the sofa. She was holding a black and white ceramic mug in her right hand, from which a rich aroma of cocoa beans wafted.
An opened script lay flat on the woman’s lap.
Ye Manqing heard the footsteps, lightly raised her eyelids and looked over, meeting Bo Yiyan’s clear and translucent brown eyes.
“Good morning, Xiao Bai.”
“Good morning, Teacher Ye.” Bo Yiyan stood in place, responding politely.
As she spoke, Ye Manqing closed the script and placed it on the sofa. She got up, holding her coffee, her gaze filled with gentleness as she looked at Bo Yiyan.
“Come, let’s have breakfast together.”
“Okay.” Bo Yiyan remained standing, nodding with a slight smile.
It had rained in the early morning, and some raindrops still clung to the floor-to-ceiling window. The sky was now completely clear. Washed clean by the rain, the sky appeared exceptionally blue, and the clouds were clean and distant.
They sat facing each other by the window, with a long white dining table between them. On the table stood a small white porcelain vase, holding a single budding champagne rose.
The dining room was very quiet, so quiet that only the subtle sounds of chewing and swallowing could be heard.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to sit down and have breakfast with someone like this.” Ye Manqing stopped eating and looked at Bo Yiyan across the table.
“I usually eat breakfast alone too,” Bo Yiyan met the woman’s gaze and said, “However, Xu Xing occasionally stays over at my place.”
The implication was that the two of them would eat breakfast together then.
“Who is Xu Xing?” Ye Manqing’s snowy fox-like eyes showed a hint of confusion as she asked.
“She is a friend of mine,” Bo Yiyan replied, pausing before quickly adding, “She is straight; she doesn’t like women.”
Ye Manqing said calmly, “It doesn’t matter.”
Bo Yiyan didn’t quite understand: “Huh?”
Ye Manqing explained: “Even if she liked you, it wouldn’t matter.”
Bo Yiyan blushed slightly at the comment, blinking her bright eyes, and said nothing more.
“Because you probably don’t like her,” Ye Manqing elegantly continued her breakfast, her tone composed.
Ye Manqing felt she understood Bo Yiyan somewhat, which is why she used the word “probably.” Given Bo Yiyan’s personality, if she truly had someone she liked, she definitely wouldn’t have agreed to marry her.
Bo Yiyan was slightly taken aback, then nodded: “Yes.”
Ye Manqing suddenly changed the subject, saying, “I have two relatively good friends. I’ll introduce you to them sometime.”
Bo Yiyan: “Okay.”
Ye Manqing reached for the glass in front of her, took a sip of the white milk, and said in a gentle voice, “Could I also get to know your friend?”
Bo Yiyan was somewhat surprised and said, “I’ll ask her when I have a moment. Because… you are a big star after all, I’m afraid she…”
Ye Manqing offered a wry smile: “I’m very approachable; I don’t have celebrity airs.”
Bo Yiyan said earnestly, “Of course, I know that!”
Ye Manqing smiled charmingly: “Then perhaps we can talk about it later?”
Bo Yiyan: “Mhm.”
They didn’t intentionally seek out topics; they just talked about whatever came to mind. Naturally, Ye Manqing was always the one actively starting conversations.
Ye Manqing was nearly finished eating. She took two napkins to wipe the corners of her mouth, looked up at Bo Yiyan, and asked, “Xiao Bai, when do you start filming?”
Bo Yiyan recalled what Director Zhang had told her before and truthfully replied, “The exact start date is still uncertain. Director Zhang hasn’t notified me yet.”
Gentle ripples of light shimmered in Ye Manqing’s eyes as she said, “Then why don’t you come back to Beijing with me?”
A hint of surprise flashed in Bo Yiyan’s eyes as she countered, “Go back to Beijing?”
Bo Yiyan clearly remembered Ye Manqing saying she was from Beijing and her family was there, so was going back to Beijing to meet the parents?
Ye Manqing’s next sentence was a direct clarification: “To get the household registration book and register our marriage.”
“…!” Bo Yiyan lightly bit the inside of her lip, her heart pounding intensely.
“Okay.”
Beijing time, 1 PM.
Dark clouds covered the sky. Drizzles of rain fell, and the entire villa was shrouded in mist. In the garden, pots of colorful hydrangeas swayed in the wind, looking like layers of waves rising on the sea.
In the quiet study, sparkling raindrops hung on the windows. The dampness of the rain seeped through the window gaps, floating in the air.
A beautiful woman sat elegantly by the window, a genuine smile on her lips, lost in thought as she gazed at the rainy mist outside the window.
The woman was dressed in a light apricot silk qipao, her long hair neatly pinned up.
There were visible gray strands at her temples, and although a few crow’s feet lines were present at the corners of her eyes, they were hardly noticeable when she wasn’t smiling. The skin on her face was smooth and firm, making it impossible to guess her actual age.
On the table were a black and white chess set and a cup of steaming hot tea. A celadon vase held a slender, vibrant green willow branch.
Just five minutes earlier, Shu Jing had received a call from her daughter.
In the call, her daughter said she would return to Beijing tomorrow and would bring someone back with her.
Her daughter was twenty-eight years old this year. Although she had explicitly stated that she liked women, she had never brought anyone home over the years. Therefore, Shu Jing immediately understood what this meant.
Shu Jing couldn’t contain her joy, repeatedly asking into the phone, “Who is it? Is she your girlfriend?”
Her daughter’s answer greatly surprised Shu Jing.
“Not a girlfriend, but a fiancée.”
“We’re returning this time to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau to register our marriage.”
Shu Jing’s eyes widened in astonishment. She was both surprised and happy, repeatedly saying “good” into the phone. Her eyes instantly became red, and large, crystal tears streamed down her nose.
After hanging up the phone, Shu Jing’s face was already covered in tears.
