After Secretly Marrying the Top Celebrity, I Fell in Love - Chapter 12
As expected, Fu Yu was the one who understood Ye Manqing the most in this world, knowing how to manipulate this awkward person with just one sentence.
At one o’clock in the afternoon, the quiet lounge was silent enough to hear a pin drop.
A stunningly beautiful face was reflected in the makeup mirror, with the woman’s entire upper body visible. A pale, slender swan neck, a thin back and right-angled shoulders, an extremely superior head-to-body ratio.
The woman had long, smooth black hair draped down to her waist, and her bare face softened her features somewhat.
The woman in the mirror had her eyes lightly closed, leaning back against the leather chair, her two sets of dense, long eyelashes lowered. She appeared to be resting her eyes, but in fact, she was contemplating an issue.
Beside her, Qingqing stood quietly, not daring to make a sound. Because just now, she had personally witnessed Ye Laoshi’s (Teacher Ye’s) face instantly change after checking her phone.
Ye Manqing had a very good temper, and her emotions were always stable. In the ten years Qingqing had been by Ye Manqing’s side, this was only the second time she had seen Ye Laoshi angry.
Even when Ye Manqing was angry, she wouldn’t vent her anger on others. It was just that the way she looked when angry was a little unsettling, chilling, and instinctively made people dare not approach her.
Qingqing was so frightened that she didn’t move, not even daring to breathe, trying her best to act like a transparent person.
Just as Qingqing’s thoughts were drifting into the ethereal realm, a familiar voice sounded in the air, lightly calling Qingqing’s name.
“Present!” Qingqing immediately snapped back to reality, her back instantly straightening.
“Call Fu Qi Zhai and book a private room for tonight.” Ye Manqing looked at herself in the mirror, her expression indifferent.
“Okay, I’ll call Fu Qi Zhai right away,” Qingqing said while taking out the phone from her pants pocket and moving to the corner to make the call.
Two minutes later, Qingqing returned to Ye Manqing’s side with her phone and said, “Ye Laoshi, the private room has been booked.”
Ye Manqing nodded slightly, indicating she understood.
The woman with the pale eyelids lowered, reached for the phone on the dressing table, unlocked it with her fingerprint, and went straight to Bai Yiyan’s WeChat, opening the chat box.
Her jade-like fingertips lightly touched the screen, skillfully typing and sending two WeChat messages in a row.
Ye Manqing: [Xiao Bai, let’s go out for dinner tonight.]
Ye Manqing: [I have something I want to discuss with you.]
Ye Manqing lowered her eyes and waited quietly for several minutes, but the other party didn’t reply. Thinking she might be out delivering food, she exited the chat box. Then, Ye Manqing found Lawyer Qin’s WeChat and sent a concise message.
Ye Manqing: [Lawyer Qin, please organize all the assets under my name.]
As soon as the message was sent, Lawyer Qin immediately replied with a WeChat message.
Lawyer Qin: [OK, no problem (smiley face)]
…
Just as Ye Manqing expected, Bai Yiyan was indeed out delivering food. After the audition in the morning, Bai Yiyan simply ate lunch and went out to deliver food.
When she saw the WeChat messages from Ye Manqing, half an hour had already passed since they were sent. Bai Yiyan looked at the content of the messages and instinctively frowned.
If it were only the first message, Bai Yiyan could have politely declined. But the second message clearly stated that she had something to discuss with her.
Bai Yiyan thought it might be related to the audition.
Could she have been eliminated? Had Ye Manqing found out the news in advance and invited her to dinner to try and console her?
After some thought, Bai Yiyan decided to agree to the appointment, planning to treat Ye Manqing back sometime later.
Bai Yiyan: [Okay (smiley face)]
After sending the message, Bai Yiyan exited WeChat and opened the food delivery platform to continue accepting orders and delivering food.
Throughout the afternoon, Bai Yiyan was a little worried, but mostly disappointed. Such a good opportunity was laid out before her, yet she was still defeated by reality.
Bai Yiyan was not entirely unprepared for this outcome, after all, the person who auditioned with her was Bai Youcen, and she was merely an unknown, minor actress.
For a small extra to leap to the second female lead role, and in a Zhang Mingxiu production at that, was simply a pipe dream.
However, Bai Yiyan belonged to the type who wouldn’t admit defeat until the very last moment. To put it nicely, it was persistence; in reality, it was stubbornness and refusal to surrender.
…
In the evening, Bai Yiyan rode her small electric scooter back to her rented room first, took a shower, changed her clothes, and applied light makeup before heading out again.
Thinking she might drink alcohol in the evening, Bai Yiyan decided to take the bus.
Her long hair was pulled up into a high bun at the back of her head, and she wore a casual T-shirt paired with denim shorts. Her makeup was very light, just a simple foundation base and lipstick, making her look almost bare-faced.
She didn’t need to draw her eyebrows.
Bai Yiyan’s eyebrows were naturally well-shaped, dark and slender, only requiring occasional trimming.
Lowering her eyes, Bai Yiyan opened her phone and looked at the chat box with Ye Manqing again.
In the afternoon, after Bai Yiyan agreed to the appointment, Ye Manqing sent the location of Fu Qi Zhai and asked for Bai Yiyan’s opinion.
As a guest following the host’s lead, Bai Yiyan naturally had no objection.
Fu Qi Zhai was the only high-end restaurant in C City that served traditional Beijing cuisine. Its most famous dish was the Peking duck. Additionally, the restaurant’s Chinese imperial-style pastries were also particularly well-known.
Although Bai Yiyan had never eaten the food at Fu Qi Zhai, she had delivered takeaways there several times. It was no exaggeration to say that Bai Yiyan could find any restaurant in C City, no matter how obscure.
Bai Yiyan was like a walking map.
It was the evening rush hour, and traffic jams were likely. Sure enough, she encountered a traffic jam as soon as she left. Fortunately, Bai Yiyan had the foresight to leave half an hour early.
Finally, Bai Yiyan arrived at Fu Qi Zhai five minutes before the agreed time.
The waitresses in cheongsams were all over 1.7 meters tall, with fair skin, beautiful long legs, sweet smiles, and pleasant voices.
Bai Yiyan told the waitress in front of her the name of the private room.
“So you are Miss Bai, please follow me.” The waitress smiled slightly, showing an understanding look, and made a “please” gesture with her right hand, fingers together.
“Thank you,” Bai Yiyan thanked her politely.
The waitress led Bai Yiyan straight up to the second floor. The two of them arrived one after the other at the door of a private room at the end of the corridor and stopped.
“Boss, Miss Bai is here,” the waitress said softly to the inside, raising her hand to gently knock on the private room door.
“…” Bai Yiyan was somewhat surprised, because she heard very clearly that the waitress referred to the person as “Boss,” not “Ye Laoshi.”
Just as Bai Yiyan’s thoughts were wandering, a familiar, gentle woman’s voice came from inside the private room.
“Please come in.”
