- After Running Away From Her Wedding, The Tsundere Young Lady Went Crazy
- Chapter 26.2 - What is She to Shang Keyu?
Then, she found her mother’s second sister, her Second Aunt Giada Mercury, and initiated a bet, promising that she would demonstrate value far exceeding that of a marriage alliance.
Next, relying on Giada’s slight interest in her, she gained room for negotiation before Earl Wheeler, her grandmother.
As the first trial to prove her worth, at age fifteen, she took the TSA entrance exam.
“How did she do?”
Ji Songshu asked impatiently. The past of Shang Keyu from Carlotta’s mouth gave her a huge shock—it was completely different from what Shang Keyu herself had described!
“The Eldest Miss entered Pembroke College, Oxford University, to study for a degree in Economics and Management,” Carlotta said.
“Wow, so amazing! I want to study abroad too.” Ji Songshu propped up her chin, her mind wandering. “Can you tell me more about her university days?”
“The Eldest Miss sent me to a butler academy, so I don’t know much about her university years. I only know that the Eldest Miss won a full scholarship every year. Starting from her second year, she followed Miss Giada and began touching the family business.”
“Now, the Eldest Miss has already taken over most of the family industries.”
“Wow—” Ji Songshu marveled sincerely.
“But I believe the Eldest Miss still lacks a family member who truly loves and cares for her.”
“I believe you are that person.”
Carlotta stared at Ji Songshu with burning eyes, looking directly into her gaze.
Ji Songshu lowered her eyes slightly. If possible, she also wanted to be that destined person.
But…
She felt somewhat agitated. She found an excuse to send Carlotta away and lay flat on the bed, her mind filled with a thousand thoughts.
Shang Keyu’s experience gave her a bit of inspiration. Regarding Pei Jiyue, she had a plan.
Before leaving the room, she said to Carlotta, “Please arrange a driver for tomorrow afternoon to take me to school.”
The next day, at the villa entrance.
The driver, Xiao Tang, diligently started the car engine. She had finally managed to make herself a familiar face in front of the Eldest Miss, only to find herself “inherited” by the Young Madam.
She couldn’t help but peek at the person in the back seat through the rearview mirror. Unlike the Eldest Miss’s sharp aura, the Young Madam was fair and beautiful, looking like an easy person to get along with.
Except her behavior was a bit strange.
Before starting, the Young Madam specifically asked to sit in the most expensive car.
Just as the car drove out of the villa district, the Young Madam suddenly said, “Please navigate to the West City Villa District; I need to go back to the Pei house.”
Xiao Tang nodded to indicate she understood.
The car turned a corner, and the villa district where the Pei family lived came into view.
Ji Songshu looked at the house with the grey-blue pointed roof, a wave of bitterness rising in her heart.
This was where her aunt and uncle lived, but a long, long time ago, this was her home.
She had lived here with her parents, her sister, and a fat orange cat. In the yard grew the little strawberries she planted, and the fat cat would bring stray cats from outside every day to trample her strawberry seedlings, resulting in zero harvest.
The berries had long since died, the orange cat was missing, the house had changed owners, new masters had arrived, and she had become the only outsider in this house.
The car stopped outside the iron gate. Nanny Zhang saw her and immediately went inside to report. After a while, the iron gate slowly opened.
The car stopped steadily, but Ji Songshu sat in the back seat and didn’t move. She politely said toward the driver’s seat, “Please get out and open the car door for me.”
“Of course, of course, it’s my duty.” Xiao Tang hurried out and circled to the back to open the door.
Ji Songshu stepped out of the car, passed through the shadows of flowers and trees, crossed the redwood bridge over the pond, and stepped onto the stairs before the door.
She pushed open the door just as Aunt Ji Lan was slowly walking down the stairs.
Seeing that scrutinizing gaze sweep over her, Ji Songshu knew she was late; Pei Jiyue had already complained.
The aunt asked immediately, “Did Shang Keyu send you?”
Ji Songshu met her gaze neither humbly nor arrogantly: “No, I came alone. I am currently living at her house.”
“How is progress between you and her?”
Ji Songshu hardened her heart and said, “She is completely played by me; she gives me whatever I want.”
The aunt smiled with satisfaction, walked to the sofa, and patted the spot next to her, signaling Ji Songshu to sit. In a friendly tone, she asked, “What brings you home to see me today?”
Ji Songshu put on a difficult expression: “Aunt, I came today with a request.”
The aunt guessed what she was going to say and her tone was certain and knowing: “I have already spoken to Yueyue. she has always been spoiled; don’t mind her. She won’t throw tantrums anymore. You’ve been obedient since childhood; be more tolerant of her. She just has a childish temperament; she is your sister after all.”
Ji Songshu said nothing but used the hand wearing the sapphire ring to casually brush back her hair, revealing the bite mark on her nape.
“However, I hope Sister can leave for a while. Shang Keyu knows of her existence and knows how she treats me.”
The aunt stared at Ji Songshu’s face for a while, seemingly weighing the options. After a long moment, she spoke:
“Fine, I will have her go abroad for a while.”
Having received a satisfactory answer, Ji Songshu didn’t want to deal with her aunt any longer and left with a casual excuse.
Getting into the car, Xiao Tang hadn’t even reacted. “Young Madam, you were so fast?”
“What did you call me?” Ji Songshu didn’t hear clearly.
“Uh, Miss Pei.” Xiao Tang quickly corrected herself, then started the car and headed toward Fengyuan University.
Ji Songshu relaxed completely, leaning back languidly, sinking into the comfortable seat. She looked at the house shrinking in the distance and the increasingly vast sky, enjoying the joy of victory, and suddenly realized a fact.
She had only slightly borrowed Shang Keyu’s power, and her aunt’s attitude had transformed like this.
In that case, was it even necessary to let her aunt act as a middleman to take a cut? Could she truly be with Shang Keyu?
However, she didn’t know if Shang Keyu herself would agree.
Ji Songshu pinched her chin in thought, reviewing the situation again: She accidentally slept with Shang Keyu, but Shang Keyu didn’t have someone beat her up and throw her into the sea. Instead, she gave her five hundred thousand, allowed her to live in her house, and ride in her car.
After careful consideration, Ji Songshu reached a conclusion:
Could it be that Shang Keyu was very satisfied with her service?
For the first time, she realized she had such a talent, and a sense of pride spontaneously arose.
Even if she couldn’t reach the status of a lover, being “friends with benefits” where each took what they needed wasn’t out of the question. Even if she was “serving with her beauty,” it was worth it if she could serve until Xiao Xi recovered. If the day came when Shang Keyu got bored of her, she would immediately take the breakup fee and leave with her sister, running far away. She could use that money to go abroad with her sister, see the world, buy a small house with a yard, and settle down in a paradise at the end of the world.
The more she thought, the more beautiful it became. Ji Songshu couldn’t help but laugh. Xiao Tang curiously poked her head over and asked, “Miss Pei, what’s wrong?”
“Ah, I just thought of something happy.”
“Oh right, just drop me off at the intersection before the school. This car is too conspicuous; it won’t be good if people see it at the school gate.”
“Miss Pei, what time should I pick you up tonight? You can contact me anytime.”
“No need. I’m going back home to stay today. Please tell Carlotta thank you for me, and thank you too; it was hard work driving me here.”
Ji Songshu got out of the car, her mood so good she felt like granting a general amnesty. She hummed songs even after hitting red lights at two consecutive intersections and listened to the teacher talk about electromagnetic fields and waves with great interest. This teacher’s homework was very predictable, so she secretly finished the textbook exercises during class.
That evening, she couldn’t wait to get home. Just as she reached the door, she heard a loud “bang” from inside.
Ji Songshu didn’t even have to guess to know it was Pei Jiyue throwing a tantrum. She opened the door, pretending to look very surprised.
“You’re still here?”
Pei Jiyue looked up from a suitcase and piles of clothes, glaring at her fiercely.
“Are you packing?” Ji Songshu poured herself a glass of water and leaned leisurely against the table. “Don’t forget to leave that yellow dress behind.”
“After clinging to Shang Keyu, you’re living quite well, aren’t you?” Pei Jiyue gritted her teeth.
“Yes.” Ji Songshu raised her hand, displaying the massive sapphire on her middle finger, which sparkled brilliantly.
“Recognize this?”
“5.03 carats. One of the top ten highest-priced gems ever auctioned at Christie’s Geneva. A Super Blue Sapphire.”
Ji Songshu arched an eyebrow. “Shang Keyu gave it to me.”
Pei Jiyue clenched her back teeth and let out a “tsk” from her throat. She stood up abruptly, dragged her suitcase, and stormed off aggressively.
Ji Songshu watched her leave with the gaze of a victor driving out the defeated. Just as she reached the door, Pei Jiyue suddenly turned her head, her expression awkward.
“Do you have anything else to say?” Ji Songshu didn’t particularly want to listen.
Pei Jiyue pursed her lips tightly, and after a long while, she spoke up unwillingly: “If Xiangxiang-Baby comes here looking for me, you must tell me.”
Never expecting that answer, Ji Songshu nodded speechlessly.
Pei Jiyue turned and left.
Ji Songshu breathed a sigh of relief, listening to Pei Jiyue’s footsteps getting further away, entering the elevator, and disappearing.
She slowly walked to the balcony. Soon, she saw Pei Jiyue dragging her suitcase away under the moonlight, her shadow stretching very, very long.
She used her hand to “pinch” that tiny figure and tossed it away—tossing it far, far away.
