After Reuniting with My Aloof Movie Queen Childhood Friend - Chapter 17.2
Wen Yang didn’t hear the latter part of the manager’s rant. Her mind was stuck on the previous sentence. Yes, after this, it would be hard to meet again. Even if they met, they wouldn’t spend day and night together anymore, the protection, encouragement, comfort, and hands-on teaching…
Wen Yang unconsciously clenched her fists. Ignoring her manager’s shouting, she turned and ran toward Ji Youyi.
“Director Ji!”
Ji Youyi was confirming the budget with the location manager. Hearing her, she turned around. Wen Yang had arrived with a thousand words in her head, but seeing those smiling eyes, she didn’t know what to say. She opened her mouth. “I…”
Ji Youyi understood instantly. “Do you need to skip the dinner? It’s okay. There will be plenty of chances to eat together later. Go take care of your business.”
Wen Yang didn’t move; she just looked at Ji Youyi.
Ji Youyi seemed to understand again. She smiled and walked closer. “What, can’t bear to leave?”
Wen Yang nodded, instantly choking up.
“It’s okay, you’ll get used to it. As long as you are moving forward, you are destined to experience partings. You will join many more crews, spend time with them, and then leave.” Ji Youyi patted her head. “But don’t be sad, because better scenery is waiting for you in the future. Remember what I said? Our Yang-yang will be a great star in the future.”
Wen Yang wanted to say it was different, even if she went through a thousand crews, it could never be like this. But she could only nod again and say softly, “Goodbye, Director Ji.”
The wrap-up dinner was missing its female lead, but it was still lively. The whole crew knew Ji Youyi had stomach problems, so they all supervised her drinking hot water, while they themselves drank glass after glass of red wine, even toast-battling when they got excited. Ji Youyi saw how happy they were and didn’t plan to stop them.
Li Zhulan was drunk and was hugging Ji Youyi’s neck while crying. Ji Youyi was dizzy from the smell of alcohol but still had to wipe her tears. “Great screenwriter, on such a happy day, why are you crying?”
Li Zhulan wailed, “I’m happy! I’m so happy to finally escape your clutches and not have to change the script anymore that I want to cry!”
“Okay, okay, hurry and escape.”
Li Zhulan shouted again, “I’m not escaping! No! I’m going to keep writing scripts for you to film!”
“Sure, you write, I’ll film.” The fruit platter was served, and Ji Youyi poked a piece of watermelon to feed her. “Want some?”
Li Zhulan shook her head violently. “No, I am a loyal believer of the Holy Pear Sect. I cannot eat other fruits.”
“? Do you know what red wine is made of?” Ji Youyi chuckled. “Fine, I’ll go order you some pear juice.”
She stood up to leave and saw the door open. Fang Ruohan walked in carrying a large bouquet, with Meng Xingshu and Lin Shan a few steps behind.
“Little Ji, happy wrap-up!” Fang Ruohan handed over the flowers.
“You guys actually came.” Although Fang Ruohan had asked for the address earlier, Ji Youyi thought they would at most send a delivery. She accepted the flowers with a look of surprise. “Thank you, thank you. You shouldn’t have.”
At a small crew’s wrap-up dinner, the sudden arrival of a platform CEO and a famous Film Queen was like two gods descending. The lively room cooled down instantly. Everyone was afraid of saying the wrong thing. Only the drunk Li Zhulan leaned toward the flowers.
“Wow, so many flowers! I see roses! So pretty! Did Teacher Meng choose them? Ah! I’m so happy!” There’s ‘sugar’ even at the wrap-up dinner, so happy! Squee! The two ‘mothers’ met again, she’s going to be ‘born’ again, haha!
Fang Ruohan looked at the “humanoid” dancing in front of her and cautiously took a half-step back. Teacher Meng gave Little Ji flowers, why are YOU happy??
The whole room was silent, watching the screenwriter dance. Ji Youyi quickly recorded a video to leave for Li Zhulan, then put her phone down and tried to smooth things over. “Sorry, our screenwriter is too happy today, she’s drunk.”
“Understandable.” Lin Shan was experienced with such occasions. She smiled at the crowd. “We’re the ones intruding. Don’t be stiff, eat and drink. We just came to get a drink from Director Ji.”
“Yes, yes, we have plenty.” Ji Youyi smiled and opened a new bottle of red wine for them.
The atmosphere soon warmed up again. There was a magical phenomenon in the way Ji Youyi led her crew. Everyone was afraid of her on set, but once off set, they all loved to stick to her. Especially now that the filming was over and they didn’t know when they would work together again, some gathered the courage to ask for a photo with her.
This started a trend, and soon the whole crew crowded around, all wanting photos. The room became noisy. Ji Youyi had a headache and made a gesture to silence them. She took out the cast and crew list and took photos with everyone in order. She didn’t forget the guests and took several photos with Fang Ruohan and Lin Shan as well.
After taking a photo with Lin Shan, Ji Youyi looked at Meng Xingshu, who was standing aside quietly holding her wine glass. She had taken a photo for Meng Xingshu not long ago, but Meng Xingshu didn’t seem to like it. Ji Youyi still didn’t believe her skills were the problem, so she thought about her identity.
Meng Xingshu only treated her well because of the “scumbag.” If she went up and insisted on taking a photo, wouldn’t she be overstepping and annoying her? It was normal not to like it!
Ji Youyi smiled sensibly at Meng Xingshu and raised her wine bottle. “Teacher Meng, would you like a refill?”
The wine in the glass was clearly only half gone. Both knew the refill was just a gesture of politeness.
Meng Xingshu held out her glass and didn’t refuse. “Thanks.” After speaking, she watched her quietly, as if waiting for something.
Ji Youyi understood. Politeness should be brief. Meng Xingshu was clearly waiting for her to leave. After pouring the wine, she narrowed her eyes and said sweetly, “You’re welcome.”
Then she didn’t disturb Meng Xingshu further and turned around naturally to chat with others.
“Shall we go? Let’s go eat too.” Lin Shan touched Meng Xingshu’s arm, walking toward the exit while looking at her phone. She was very satisfied with the photo and showed it to Meng Xingshu. “Little Ji is really photogenic. Believe it or not, once I post this on my friend circle, everyone will be sending her scripts.”
Meng Xingshu glanced at the photo, then at the table. Ji Youyi was holding hands with the coordinator and chatting. She didn’t know what they were talking about, but they were both laughing hysterically. The coordinator leaned on Ji Youyi, who was laughing and slapping her shoulder.
She lowered her head and took a sip of wine. The wine was chosen by Ji Youyi and the quality was decent, with a rich fruit aroma, but Meng Xingshu still felt a dryness in her throat.
Her voice was cold. “Post it. I didn’t say you couldn’t. Aren’t photos taken to be posted?”
“What’s wrong with you?” Lin Shan was baffled by the tone.
Meng Xingshu drained the glass in one go, her downcast lashes frosted with cold. “I don’t like drinking.”
Lin Shan: “…”
Then why did you finish it??
