- Chapter 23 - Retaliation Against Master in Progress
Xiao Qingyan forced himself to stop looking at Lin Sui. He sat at the foot of the bed and began attempting to circulate the demonic energy within his body.
In the cultivation world, there were distinctions such as Qi Condensation, Foundation Building, and Golden Core. Naturally, the demonic realm had its own levels, though Xiao Qingyan’s current understanding was limited. He only knew from his Master’s own words that he possessed a Primordial Demonic Body; he was a natural talent for demonic cultivation. Not only that, but he was capable of dual cultivation in both the immortal and demonic paths.
Whether it was demonic energy or spiritual power, he could absorb both perfectly and make them his own. Most importantly, the spiritual power in his body could be completely transformed into demonic energy whenever he wished.
Thinking of this, he considered the demonic energy he had left inside his Master’s body. Did that mean the demonic energy could slowly devour his Master’s spiritual power and claim it for himself? If so, his good Master would become a complete invalid. Without spiritual power to protect his body, the cold poison alone would be enough to torture him until he wished he were dead.
A look of pure malice appeared on his face. His eyes crinkled with a smile as he looked forward to seeing exactly what kind of expression his Master would make when that time came. With a thought, Xiao Qingyan teleported into his Master’s room.
The person on the bed was sleeping under a thin quilt, creating only a slight mound. If one did not look closely, it was hard to tell someone was even there. Xiao Qingyan walked to the bedside and saw his Master breathing steadily, sleeping peacefully. His Junior Brother cried out in pain even in his sleep, yet his good Master was sleeping soundly.
“Senior Brother, it hurts so much.” Lin Sui’s pained voice seemed to echo in his ears.
The more Xiao Qingyan looked at the sleeping figure, the angrier he became. His eyes turned a bloodthirsty crimson. With a flick of his fingers, he activated the demonic energy inside Lin Sui’s body, attempting to use it to devour the spiritual power flowing through his Master’s veins.
Soon, he saw the person on the bed furrow his brows. Blood trickled from the corner of his lips, quickly staining the bedding a deep red. However, there was not a single cry of pain. The demonic energy inside his Master grew from the thickness of a thumb to the size of an arm, coiling around his Master’s spiritual platform.
Xiao Qingyan placed his large hand on Lin Sui’s lower abdomen and pressed down hard. The demonic energy inside seemed to sense the movement and tried to burst out. A small, fist sized ball arched up under the skin, looking like a two month pregnancy. The demonic energy wriggled inside, causing the abdomen to bulge even further. Xiao Qingyan pressed down again out of pure malice.
Aside from his tightly knit brows, the person on the bed did not make a sound. Frustrated, Xiao Qingyan gripped Lin Sui’s neck, the veins on the back of his hand bulging from the force, yet he still heard no cry of agony. If not for the faint rise and fall of the chest, Xiao Qingyan would have truly believed his Master was dead.
The more his Master refused to make a sound, the more Xiao Qingyan wanted to hear him beg for mercy and scream in pain. A demonic whip radiating black energy appeared in Xiao Qingyan’s hand. He raised his arm and lashed the person on the bed.
Snap!
A bloody gash as thick as an arm appeared on his Master’s chest, bleeding profusely as demonic energy swirled around the wound. Even then, there was no voice from the bed. Instead, the faint rising and falling of the chest slowed down further. A wave of inexplicable panic surged in Xiao Qingyan’s heart, and he hurried forward to check. Just then, he heard a broken groan of pain escape the man’s throat. His tightly knit brows relaxed slightly, showing signs that he was about to wake up.
Seeing this, Xiao Qingyan lashed Lin Sui’s chest once more, the tail of the whip sweeping across the neck where three finger shaped bruises remained.
“Ungh.”
Lin Sui was not sleeping peacefully. In his dream, the great villain stood by his bed, pressing down on his aching abdomen. The sharp pain shot straight to his head. He wanted to scream, but his mouth felt as if it were sealed with glue; he could not make a sound.
He did not know if it was because he had seen the villain use the demonic whip on the Peach Demon in the illusion, but he now dreamed that the villain was using it on him as well. He tried to get up, but his body felt pinned to the bed. The thick whip struck him, hurting so much he wanted to scream at the sky. Finally, he made a sound, but another lash followed, throwing his sea of consciousness into chaos and forcing his spiritual power to surge toward his abdomen.
“Cough.”
Fresh blood rushed into his mouth. His closed lips would not open, and the blood clogged his throat until he let out a muffled, choking cough. The metallic scent of blood grew stronger in his nose, and hot blood began to flow from his nostrils. Was he experiencing sleep paralysis? He had encountered it in the real world before, but there had never been such physical, tangible pain!
Lin Sui’s eyes felt hot as tears began to fall. Why was he so unlucky? It was bad enough being transported into a book, but he also had to save the villain and take damage for him. Yet, the villain felt no pain and had a terrifying ability to heal. In a way, the villain was immortal!
The pain in his body made his very soul tremble, and his eyelashes fluttered violently. Xiao Qingyan saw that the person on the bed was finally waking up and stepped forward to inspect the injuries. Just then, the disciple plate hanging at his waist lit up, and his Junior Brother’s weak, agonizing voice came through.
“Senior Brother Xiao, where are you? It, it hurts so much! My whole body hurts.”
Xiao Qingyan stopped showing mercy. Had his Master not been equally merciless to him back then? Why should he be soft hearted now?
Xiao Qingyan’s eyes turned completely black. He injected half of his demonic energy into the whip. He knew very well that this strike would cause more than just a superficial wound. He struck with his full strength, and the whip sank into the flesh. When he pulled it back, the skin on the person’s chest split open, revealing raw, red meat. The man on the bed immediately stiffened into a straight line, his neck stretching until the veins bulged and pulsed.
“Aaargh!”
The final strike hit Lin Sui’s soul directly. It was clear the whip’s owner had put every ounce of his demonic energy into the blow. The force pinning his body down vanished. Lin Sui first stiffened from the pain, and once the initial shock passed, he curled into a ball, trying to lessen the tearing agony in his chest. The cracks on his soul increased, with dark, shadowy patterns clinging to them. A voice in his heart told him that his soul being in this state was not a good sign.
His Junior Brother’s voice continued to drift intermittently from the disciple plate. Xiao Qingyan looked at the person curled up on the bed, and the suffocating anger in his heart finally dissipated. He put away the demonic whip, remaining indifferent to the person whimpering in pain.
He picked up the disciple plate, the demonic expression on his face vanishing as a slight smile touched his lips. “Junior Brother, I am buying candy for you.”
As he spoke, his gaze fell on the preserved fruits sitting on the table. A memory flashed through his mind of his Master smiling with satisfaction after receiving some sweets. If such an evil person could smile so sincerely after eating preserved fruit, would bringing some to his Junior Brother bring out a similar smile?
Xiao Qingyan felt no guilt about stealing his Master’s things. He took the preserved fruits and then noticed the medicine bottles sitting nearby. His eyes lit up. This was the special medicine made by Uncle Mo; not only was it highly effective, but it was also not bitter.
With that thought, he reached for the medicine bottles. He had intended to leave one bottle for his Master, but since he had already taken so much, would one more bottle really matter? Thus, the medicine and the preserved fruits on the table were swept clean by Xiao Qingyan.
