- Chapter 18 - Paranoid Villain (18) Mixing Drinks
After quickly reading the messages sent by Lu Ang, Yan Yi tapped his fingers lightly on the screen.
y: Thanks.
Wild and Untamed Wind: Second Brother, why are you thanking me? We are brothers! (Good buddies.jpg)
Wild and Untamed Wind: Second Brother, I do not dare to talk to Seventh Uncle about this. I am a bit afraid of him, so tell him yourself.
Watching Lu Ang’s fearful attitude toward Lu Yinshen, Yan Yi raised an eyebrow. His little uncle was not fierce at all.
y: Little Uncle is not going to eat you. What are you afraid of?
Wild and Untamed Wind: That is true, but facing Seventh Uncle feels just like facing Grandpa. I always feel like he is going to make me kneel and hit me with a ruler in the next second. He is even scarier than my old man.
Wild and Untamed Wind: By the way, Second Brother, do you have Sisi’s contact information? Grandpa said Big Brother was just fooling around with him, but Sisi is innocent. Second Brother, I saw that Sisi seems to admire you quite a bit. Do you have his contact info? (Rubbing hands in anticipation.jpg)
It seemed he was truly affected by the protagonist’s all encompassing charm halo and had developed an interest in the protagonist shou.
Yan Yi had no intention of exposing the protagonist’s true character. Lu Ang’s liking was not from his own heart but was merely influenced by the plot; words would not be able to change it.
y: No.
Wild and Untamed Wind: Alright. (Disappointed.jpg)
Wild and Untamed Wind: That is it then. Goodbye, Second Brother. (Cupped fist salute)
Yan Yi sent a goodbye emoji, took a screenshot of his chat history with Lu Ang, and sent it to Lu Yinshen. This man was sensitive and prone to jealousy; even if Lu Ang was a relative, Lu Yinshen would likely overthink and feel hurt.
y: This is how it is, Uncle. Grandpa might come looking for us. What should we do, Little Uncle? (Scared cat.jpg)
lys: I will handle it.
y: Mm-hmm. (Obedient nod.jpg)
Yan Yi tapped his fingertips on the desk, his eyes half-lidded. Old Master Lu had a violent temper, though it had seemed to soften slightly in recent years due to his age. He would not easily believe Lu Ye’s words, but he would likely still be suspicious. He would probably have Yan Yi’s adoptive parents test him while he remained hidden in the background.
However, neither Yan Yi nor Lu Yinshen was too worried. To restrain a person, one must either control their emotions or suppress their power. Yet neither of them had much affection for the Lu family. Regarding power, the Lu family even had to rely on the enterprises Lu Yinshen had built from scratch.
Still, this was a troublesome matter. Yan Yi pondered how to resolve it reasonably without exhausting his little uncle.
His half-closed eyes flickered as he opened Aunt Lin’s contact information.
Quiet Years (Aunt Lin): What is it, Xiao Yi?
y: I just wanted to tell you that I have fallen in love with Little Uncle.
He spoke airily and with a calm tone, as if stating something as simple as what he had for lunch. But to Lin Rong, it was no different from a deep-water torpedo that sent massive waves surging.
Lin Rong’s eyes widened instantly. Ignoring the noble ladies around her, she hurriedly bid them farewell, got into her car, and dialed Yan Yi’s number.
Class had just ended, so Yan Yi walked to an empty hallway to answer.
“You said you have fallen in love with your Seventh Uncle?!” Lin Rong’s voice held an astonishment she could not suppress despite her best efforts.
“Yes, Mother. But this has nothing to do with Little Uncle. It is my issue. I am devoted to him, and it has to be him.”
Lin Rong’s delicate eyebrows furrowed. Today, Old Master Lu had told her and her husband to pay attention to the relationship between the Seventh Brother and her son, saying there might be some issues.
She had not taken it to heart at all. In her view, the Seventh Brother and Xiao Yi were perfectly innocent. She thought Lu Ye had simply been scolded by the Old Master and was talking nonsense to shift the trouble onto her son.
Yet now, her son had personally called to tell her that he loved his own uncle. Even if they were not related by blood, it was clearly an uncle-nephew relationship!
Setting aside gender and looking only at the relationship, they should not have developed anything beyond familial affection. She never expected that sending Xiao Yi to take care of Seventh Brother would result in this kind of relationship that defied social norms.
Lin Rong’s heart throbbed. She rubbed her temples and took several deep breaths, forcing herself to be calm. She knew about homosexuality, as it was not as if it had never appeared in the family, and she understood it was not a mental illness but a normal sexual orientation that could not be changed.
She could accept her son liking men, but he should not have those feelings for his uncle!
Thinking of Seventh Brother’s physical condition and their ages, Lin Rong felt her headache worsen. Xiao Yi was only nineteen this year, while Seventh Brother was already thirty-five, a full sixteen-year difference. Seventh Brother’s legs were also not good. If they stayed together in the future, would her son not have a very difficult life?
Lin Rong had another thought; this was only her son’s one-sided love for his uncle. Seventh Brother likely did not have such ideas. Seventh Brother was mature and steady; surely he would not follow Xiao Yi into such absurdity.
She breathed a sigh of relief and said, “Mama is not incapable of understanding, but Xiao Yi, are you sure you truly love him? Could it just be an illusion?”
Yan Yi’s voice was steady. “Mother, my heart only beats for him.”
Lin Rong gripped her phone and remained silent for a long time. “Mama knows. Regarding your sexual orientation, I will talk to your father. As for your grandfather, do not worry; Mama will block it for you.”
The corners of Yan Yi’s mouth curled up as he thanked her sincerely. “Thank you, Mom.”
“You are my son. If I do not help you, who will? Why are you being so polite and saying thank you?” Lin Rong scolded him with a laugh.
“Do you still have enough money? I noticed you have not really used my secondary card. Are you being too thrifty? That will not do” Lin Rong began talking about other topics.
Yan Yi replied, “I am not being thrifty. It is enough.”
“That is good. The temperature has dropped again, so wear more clothes. That is all then; I am hanging up.” Before ending the call, Lin Rong hesitated for a few seconds before adding, “Your Seventh Uncle’s legs are not good. Take more care of him.”
“I will.”
After the beeping sound, the call ended. Yan Yi adjusted his earpiece; the sound of breathing inside made him feel exceptionally at peace.
Lu Yinshen sat composed in his wheelchair. Hearing Yan Yi’s words from earlier, he murmured to himself with a smile, “Devoted to me, and it has to be me?”
His gaze swept over his legs, which were becoming more and more powerful. He half-closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, he dialed a number where both the nickname and profile picture were blank.
“Mix a glass of whiskey, the strongest kind.”
Whiskey was a code name referring to an aphrodisiac liquor that could stir a man’s desire and force him to find someone for relief.
“Received.”
Lu Yinshen lifted his toes slightly, feeling the stinging pain as his legs straightened. A few traces of a flush colored his features, and the tip of his tongue lightly licked his lower lip.
Since his legs were about to recover, some things should be put on the agenda.
