After Redeeming the Female Lead, I Faked My Death and Escaped - Chapter 3
The faint scent of fragrant ointment on her forearm mingled with sandalwood and a delicate floral aroma, spreading diffusely through the confined space.
This intimate encounter had come abruptly, and in her dazed state, Ying Xu quickly grasped Gu Qingzhu’s intention.
Gu Qingzhu had already entered her estrus cycle, desperately needing an Alpha’s pheromones to soothe her through the coming days of work. After all, Ying Xu couldn’t be by her side every moment.
And the fastest way to leave behind pheromones, was this.
Apart from the soft sound of water, there was no other noise in the air.
Ying Xu lifted her gaze and realized that Gu Qingzhu had bitten her lip at some point.
The marks of her teeth were starkly visible on her lower lip. Gu Qingzhu turned her face away, refusing to spare Ying Xu even a glance, using what little clarity she had left to express her resistance.
This novel experience left Ying Xu both unsettled and curiously intrigued.
Suddenly, she spoke: “Why won’t you look at me?”
Perhaps anticipating the Alpha’s words, Gu Qingzhu instinctively turned her eyes toward Ying Xu.
The Omega’s face was flushed, her once-clear eyes previously brimming with hostility, now glistening with moisture, hazy and unfocused.
Upon seeing Ying Xu’s face, she instinctively furrowed her brows, trying to convey disgust. Yet, no matter how hard she tried, the pheromones radiating from her body unmistakably told Ying Xu one thing.
“Gu Qingzhu needed her.”
“Qingzhu.”
After the initial confusion, Ying Xu followed her instincts, learning how to wield her pheromones.
Her tone was gentle, as if soothing, yet laced with an unconscious allure that tugged at Gu Qingzhu’s thoughts: “If you like it, why not say so?”
The next moment, fragmented, melodic sounds escaped Gu Qingzhu’s lips, like a boat tossed upon turbulent waves, until the Omega regained a sliver of composure and forcibly swallowed her whimpers.
At some point, Gu Qingzhu had buried her face against Ying Xu’s shoulder. Her breath, warm through the fabric, brushed against Ying Xu’s skin.
Ying Xu’s fingertips traced the delicate skin at the nape of the Omega’s neck.
The roles had reversed, yet the only constant was the sound lingering in Ying Xu’s ears.
The lights grew brighter.
The entwined scents in the air gradually dissipated, and Gu Qingzhu’s voice grew even softer.
Her body trembled faintly with each breath, the rise and fall so slight it was almost imperceptible.
Though Ying Xu couldn’t see Gu Qingzhu’s face, her heartbeat quickened nonetheless.
After a long moment, Ying Xu lowered her gaze. Before her lay the vulnerable curve of the woman’s neck. Earlier, she had been indifferent to the marks left there, but now, mere hours later, Ying Xu felt an inexplicable displeasure rise from deep within.
The system told her this was an Alpha’s innate possessiveness toward an Omega.
Ying Xu had never been this intimate with anyone before, even the kiss in the car had been her first.
Humans naturally yield to their desires, only to later feel a tender affection for the one who eased them.
“You”
Ying Xu finally spoke, uncertain how to address Gu Qingzhu.
Just as she hesitated, her gaze fell upon Gu Qingzhu’s hand, and her pupils constricted.
At some point, Gu Qingzhu’s left hand had come to rest upon her own neck.
Her nails dug mercilessly into the fragile skin, the force so deep that faint traces of blood seeped from the clear scratches. The swollen pinch marks had turned into dark bruises at some point, reaching a horrifying degree.
Yet throughout it all, Gu Qingzhu remained nestled in Ying Xu’s embrace. As she did these things, her breathing didn’t even falter, as if she had long grown accustomed to such pain.
Ying Xu instinctively grabbed Gu Qingzhu’s wrist. After a momentary pause, Gu Qingzhu’s breath suddenly trembled. She tried to resist, but in her current state, she had little strength left.
Soon, her hand fell heavily.
And in the next second, right before Ying Xu’s eyes, Gu Qingzhu parted her lips.
The Omega’s ears were still flushed with lingering heat, but the gaze she fixed on Ying Xu was icy and venomous.
“You’re disgusting.”
She mouthed the words softly, then turned and walked toward the bathroom.
Watching Gu Qingzhu’s retreating figure, Ying Xu recalled the marks she had just seen, and all her indescribable thoughts abruptly dissipated.
A chilling clarity washed over her.
“Whoosh”
Hot water cascaded from above. Gu Qingzhu leaned against the cold tiles, the chill seeping into her bones with an aching intensity.
A wave of nausea rose in her throat. The Alpha’s pheromones clung to every inch of her skin, and for a fleeting moment, Gu Qingzhu felt an involuntary longing, only for the thought to send a shiver down her spine the next second.
Without hesitation, she grabbed the showerhead and aimed it directly at her face.
The water pressure was intense. Before long, with a sharp “clatter,” the showerhead slipped from her grip and hit the floor.
The world seemed to drown in scalding water. On the brink of suffocation, Gu Qingzhu caught sight of the grip marks on her arm.
She wanted to vomit again.
