After Redeeming the Female Lead, I Faked My Death and Escaped - Chapter 13.1
The next day.
When Xu Ying, using the identity of “Liang Ruoyan,” met with the cast members on set, the reactions varied shock, disbelief, and speechlessness.
No matter what they were thinking internally, at least on the surface, no one showed any overt hostility.
Cheng Jun had gone too far last time, leaving everyone wary.
Though riding on someone else’s coattails was hardly ethical, Xu Ying couldn’t help but feel a crude sense of satisfaction.
By the time she arrived on set, Sheng Qiuyu had already been waiting for a while.
She had received the news earlier than the other actors, but compared to questioning Xu Ying about “how she got the role,” the Omega was far more fixated on why Xu Ying had answered the call last night but remained silent the entire time, not only silent but also hanging up midway, as if something urgent had suddenly come up.
Xu Ying had a headache from her nagging and casually brushed it off with an excuse. Sheng Qiuyu nodded as if convinced.
Yet her gaze still lingered on Xu Ying’s face, as if inspecting her own possession.
“Your role… did Gu Qingzhu give it to you as compensation?”
“At least she did one decent thing.” Sheng Qiuyu tilted her chin up slightly, exuding pride. “Starting today, we’ll be acting together. You’ll have to help me go through the script and teach me how to act. In return what do you want?”
Faced with those bright, expectant eyes, Xu Ying hesitated.
“Go on, say it,” Sheng Qiuyu urged. “I know there’s something you want.”
She was utterly confident that Xu Ying would say she wanted to take their relationship further.
But the thought of Xu Ying saying something so cheesy with that face of hers suddenly made her feel a little deflated.
Under her expectant gaze, the Alpha in front of her merely sighed.
“Miss Sheng,” Xu Ying said, “the bow on your ponytail is coming loose.”
Sheng Qiuyu instinctively touched her hair both bows were perfectly in place.
But the Alpha had already turned away to read the script.
“Xu Ying, are you even listening to me? I was saying ”
When Xu Ying opened the car door, the echo of the woman’s high-pitched voice still rang in her ears.
Sure, a little chatter was cute, but too much of it was just ear-piercing.
Inside the car, Gu Qingzhu was flipping through the script.
She had taken off her coat, revealing fair skin that resembled fine jade. Her fingers lazily pinched a page, her gaze distant, as if lost in thought.
Only when she heard the sound did she turn her head.
Those deep, dark eyes were filled with coldness, but the words that left her lips took Xu Ying by surprise.
“How does it feel, playing a supporting role for the first time?”
Since when did Gu Qingzhu take the gentle approach?
Xu Ying was baffled but answered cautiously, “Everyone on set, has been very kind.”
“You think they’re nice to you because you’ve done something worthy?” Gu Qingzhu smirked, not bothering to hide her sarcasm. “It’s only because you’re useful to them.”
Clearly, Gu Qingzhu had no idea about Cheng Jun’s actions.
She arrogantly attributed Xu Ying’s smooth sailing entirely to herself.
In her eyes, if she hadn’t graciously given Xu Ying this role,
Xu Ying would never have landed a supporting part in her lifetime.
Xu Ying:
Of course. Gu Qingzhu would never soften.
This was just a setup for the coming criticism.
Not wanting to argue, she simply asked, “Then today”
Given how spirited Gu Qingzhu seemed, she probably didn’t need her pheromones anymore.
Since it wasn’t necessary, there was no reason for her to stay in the car.
Gu Qingzhu’s tone paused.
“Are you threatening me?”
Ying Xu shook her head. “I just wanted to, ask Qing”
But before she could finish, the woman leaned in, her slender fingers hooking onto the cross necklace around Ying Xu’s neck. The chain tugged with force, pulling Ying Xu closer.
The snow melted away.
Ying Xu thought Gu Qingzhu looked much better when she wasn’t speaking.
After that day, Ying Xu threw herself into her busy life on set.
During the day, she worked hard to build a good relationship with Sheng Qiuyu, dedicating herself to acting and giving her all. Off set, whenever Gu Qingzhu needed her, they engaged in intimate moments, only for Ying Xu to be mocked, scorned, or even hit on the head with a script. And after returning home, she still had to provide pheromone comfort to the Omega.
Juggling all this, Ying Xu felt that not a single bite of Gu Qingzhu’s food was wasted on her.
But compared to the original host’s tragic life, Ying Xu considered her current situation quite decent.
At least on set, Gu Qingzhu couldn’t control her, and she was free to do as she pleased and meet whoever she wanted.
As the new year approached, Gu Qingzhu’s long rut finally came to an end.
In fact, during the last few days, Gu Qingzhu’s “need” for Ying Xu had dwindled, and her attitude grew increasingly cold.
The Omega’s gaze, once filled with the haze of desire, now rarely held any trace of ambiguity.
Coldness, rationality, annoyance, all the emotions that had once defined the original host’s memories once again dominated the woman’s beautiful eyes.
But this time, Ying Xu wouldn’t be wounded by those emotions.
When she heard Gu Qingzhu’s hoarse voice say, “Starting tomorrow, you don’t need to come here anymore ” her first reaction was nothing but relief and joy.
Just as Gu Qingzhu didn’t want to see her, Ying Xu didn’t want to see Gu Qingzhu either.
Once again, she was kicked out of the car.
But this time, Ying Xu felt none of the usual frustration or anger.
Her mood was light, the wind even carrying a hint of sweetness.
Just then, her phone buzzed. Ying Xu opened it to check, messages flooded in from all directions: group chats with the crew, private conversations with various staff members, and even a pinned chat labeled [Miss Sheng (Hates Alphas but Not You)].
This time, the message was from Cheng Jun.
Perhaps feeling that her last bombshell revelation had been too much, Cheng Jun had considerately given Ying Xu time to process it, leaving her undisturbed for a long while.
But recently, for some reason, Cheng Jun had started sending her daily greetings, even occasionally ordering flowers for her.
The bouquets were vibrant and beautiful, accompanied by unsigned cards bearing love poems.
As a result, Sheng Qiuyu often mistook them as gifts from Ying Xu. The Omega would pout and say, “This surprise isn’t very surprising” while aggressively fighting Ying Xu for the flowers, instantly boosting her favorability by three points.
The first time Ying Xu repurposed the flowers for Gu Qingzhu, she had worried about getting caught.
But with three favorability points on the line, she decided to go with the flow.
Out of every three bouquets, one would genuinely be from her to Sheng Qiuyu, meant to please the Omega.
And Ying Xu wasn’t afraid of being exposed.
After all, someone had seen Cheng Jun sending flowers before. With a little thought, it was easy to deduce that Sheng Qiuyu had misunderstood on her own Ying Xu had nothing to do with it.
Moreover, Xu Ying had never admitted to being the one who bought the flowers.
Cheng Jun’s message wasn’t long, just a few words:
[The Cheng Group is hosting a gala in a few days. Would Miss Xu be willing to be my dance partner?]
Xu Ying frowned.
[I don’t know how to dance.]
The original owner rarely attended large events, and when she did, she usually ended up embarrassing herself.
Xu Ying hadn’t even found any videos of her dancing online chances were, she couldn’t dance either.
[Really?]
