After My Nemesis Discovered My Cross-dressing - Chapter 12
After sending those two messages, Gu Qian put his phone down with a slight sense of guilt. Although he was clearly lying through his teeth, he simply did not want the other man to become too arrogant.
About a minute later, the phone on the desk vibrated twice in succession. Gu Qian picked it up again and clicked into their dialogue box.
Y: “Just average?”
Y: “Do you want a close up so I can help you see it more clearly?”
Gu Qian leaned his head back, once again shocked by Y’s shamelessness. He immediately typed a reply, fearing that if he waited any longer, the man might actually send a large scale photo that would be censored.
77: “Do not you dare.”
Y: “Is it not okay to respond to Qiqi’s doubts?”
77: “No.”
77: “If you dare send it, I will report you.”
Just as he clicked send on that message, a new photo popped up in the box. Gu Qian’s heart skipped a beat, but upon closer inspection, it was just an ordinary close up of a hand. He felt a strange sense of relief and casually clicked on the full image.
The photo showed a well defined male hand with a broad palm and long fingers. It looked very powerful, and the veins protruding on the back of the hand added a sense of tension.
Y: “I just wanted to say that my hands are also very large.”
Y: “Did Qiqi think of something else?”
Gu Qian: “…”
He was one hundred percent certain that the part the man mentioned earlier was absolutely not a hand, but he had no evidence.
77: “Think of something else my foot.”
Y: “Hahaha!”
Y: “Fine, blame me for not being clear. Qiqi definitely did not think of anything else.”
Gu Qian let out a soft “Tsk” and sent a voice message: “Are you coaxing a child?”
A moment later, a three second voice message popped up in the dialogue box. Gu Qian froze for a second, then opened the voice message and held it to his ear.
A deep male voice rang out: “Then, were you coaxed?”
The man’s voice was as mellow as a cello. It was intentionally lowered, becoming particularly magnetic through the electronic current, causing Gu Qian’s earlobes to feel slightly numb. During this period, when he was occasionally too lazy to type, he would send a voice message or two to Y, but the other party had never replied with one. He had guessed that either the man’s voice was not pleasant or he simply did not like sending voice messages.
Now it seemed it was the latter.
77: “Your voice is also quite pleasant.”
Y: “Thank you, but were you coaxed?”
Gu Qian instinctively felt something was strange. Given Y’s personality, after being praised, he would usually follow up with more self praise, but this time he did not take the bait. However, Gu Qian did not dwell on it and countered, “Am I a three year old child who is so easy to coax?”
Y: “Then how do you want me to coax you?”
Y: “As long as Qiqi says it, I will certainly do it.”
77: “You want me to teach you how to coax me? Have you paid the tuition fee?”
The other side was quiet for a while, seemingly thinking about something.
Y: “How about this? I will buy a pretty dress for Qiqi as an apology. What do you think?”
Gu Qian’s brow twitched. For a moment, he neither refused nor agreed.
Y: “Just give me an address where you can receive a package; it does not need to be too detailed.”
Y: “Do not worry, Qiqi. Without your consent, I will never pry into your real life privacy.”
Gu Qian hesitated for a moment before typing the address of another residential complex nearby into the input box. Having chatted for so long, he knew that although Y usually spoke in a somewhat indecent manner, he was a man of principle and boundaries. It was just that Gu Qian could not yet fully trust a stranger on the internet. Or rather, before he completed that specific task, he could not allow any mistakes to happen.
Y: “Received!”
Y: “Qiqi, wait for the surprise.”
77: “I hope it is not a fright.”
Y: “How could it be? Trust me, haha!”
Gu Qian remembered something else: “Do you know what size I wear?”
Y: “I have a rough idea. I estimated it by sight.”
77: “Is your visual estimation accurate?”
Y: “Rest assured. My eyes are a ruler.”
Although Gu Qian was skeptical, he chose not to crush the man’s confidence.
The next afternoon, Gu Qian was in the middle of an online meeting when the phone on his desk suddenly vibrated. He glanced at the caller id, picked up the phone, and held it in his hand as the meeting continued. About half an hour later, the meeting ended, and Gu Qian closed his laptop.
“President Gu, I have integrated the detailed information regarding the acquisition of the FK short video platform.” Assistant Liang placed the folder on the desk. “If there is nothing else, I will head out first.”
Gu Qian took off his glasses. “Go ahead.”
Assistant Liang left the office and closed the door. Gu Qian leaned back in his chair and rested for two minutes before walking to the floor to ceiling window to return the missed call.
As soon as the call connected, he spoke first: “Uncle Meng, I was in a meeting just now. Is there something you need?”
“It is nothing much. I just suddenly remembered that it has been a while since we sat down and talked.” Meng Ye paused. “Qian, do you have time to come visit me lately?”
“I am sorry, Uncle Meng.” Gu Qian lowered his eyelashes, his tone calm and cold. “A problem has cropped up with an acquisition case in the entertainment business group recently, and I cannot get away.”
Meng Ye’s attention was indeed diverted. “What kind of problem?”
Gu Qian did not go into detail, only promising, “Do not worry. I will resolve it.”
“You, cough, cough, cough,” Meng Ye coughed twice. “I am naturally at ease with your handling of things. However, if there are difficulties, you must still come to discuss them with me. Do you understand?”
“I understand,” Gu Qian responded. Just as he was about to make an excuse to hang up, the other man spoke again.
“Qian, I have been counting the days. It is almost the anniversary of your mother’s death, is it not?”
Gu Qian lifted his eyelashes. The sunlight from outside filtered through the glass window into the room, but the depths of those amber pupils were ice cold.
Meng Ye sighed and continued, “In previous years, I would go to see her on her anniversary, but with my health this year, cough, cough,”
“It is fine. Focus on recovering.” Gu Qian replied expressionlessly, “I will go visit her.”
Meng Ye seemed to want to say more: “Qian,”
Gu Qian interrupted him: “I have another meeting soon, Uncle Meng.”
“Alright, alright. Let us leave it at that for now.” Meng Ye emphasized again, “Remember to come and chat with me when you have time.”
After hanging up, Gu Qian stood by the window for a long time. Time passed so quickly. In the blink of an eye, it was almost the anniversary of his mother’s death again, that day of never-ending heavy rain in his memory.
It was not until a knock sounded at the door that Gu Qian snapped back to reality. He walked back to his desk and sat down again. “Come in.”
Assistant Liang pushed the door open. “President Gu, I have good news to report.”
Gu Qian looked up. “What is it?”
Assistant Liang reported dutifully, “According to the information I have obtained, Universal has not had any contact with the people at FK, and they have no intention of acquiring it for the time being.”
“I see.” Gu Qian reminded him, “No matter what, accelerate the progress of this acquisition to avoid any complications.”
“Yes, President Gu. I understand.” Assistant Liang handed over an iPad. “One more thing. Your itinerary for next week’s business trip has been arranged. Please look it over.”
Gu Qian scanned it from top to bottom. “No problem. Let us proceed with this arrangement for now.”
The office became quiet again. Gu Qian rested one hand on the desk, his fingertips habitually tapping the surface. It seemed Universal was not interested in this acquisition, so Qin Yue’s next move would be hard to predict. Had his old rival finally given up on competing with him, or was he brewing an even larger storm?
Whatever the case, he would deal with it when it came.
Near the end of the workday, Gu Qian received a call from an unknown number. He answered, and the person on the other end asked immediately, “Hello, you have a package without a detailed address. Is it okay to leave it with the security guard?”
Gu Qian instantly realized what package it was and replied, “Alright. Just leave it with the guard.”
He hung up and sent a message on his secondary WeChat.
77: “Where did you buy the clothes? The shipping was so fast.”
The other party was likely busy, as no reply came for a while. Gu Qian packed up his phone and decided to leave work early today. On the way home, he had Uncle Wang stop by that residential complex to pick up the package.
Uncle Wang had been with President Gu for a long time and knew not to ask questions. He took the package back obediently without daring to take a second look.
A vibration came, and Gu Qian opened WeChat to check the message.
Y: “Of course. I personally went to the mall to pick out the dress.”
Y: “Same city flash delivery.”
Gu Qian: “…” No wonder it was so fast; it was bought offline.
77: “Are you very free?”
Y: “I am busy, but your matters are the top priority for me.”
Gu Qian cursed the man for being silver tongued in his heart. He turned off the screen and did not reply. Uncle Wang peeked into the rearview mirror and saw that the CEO’s slightly furrowed brows had relaxed, and he seemed to be in a decent mood.
After arriving home, Gu Qian first tore open the outer packaging, revealing an exquisite box with a large logo inside. He washed his hands, returned to open the lid, and found a sapphire blue dress folded inside, with fine, shimmering sequins embedded in the fabric.
Gu Qian took the dress out. Upon unfolding it, he saw it was a long, halter neck dress. The chest area was a bit revealing, but it was unexpectedly beautiful. He picked up his phone and messaged Y.
77: “The dress is very beautiful. You have good taste.”
Y: “I am glad you like it.”
77: “Have you picked one out for someone else before?”
Y: “How could that be?”
Y: “This is the first time. You really should have seen how awkward I looked wandering around a women’s clothing store.”
The other party spoke with such conviction that Gu Qian chose to believe him for the moment. However, likely due to a guilty conscience, Gu Qian never went to malls to pick out women’s clothing. He always shopped online; whether it fit or not was up to fate, and he never returned items.
Y: “Try it on to see if it fits.”
Gu Qian raised his hand to undo his necktie. He slowly took off his suit and shirt in order and leaned down to pick up the blue dress. After putting it on, he realized something was wrong. This dress not only tightly wrapped around his waist and hips, but the slit in the skirt actually reached the base of his thigh.
77: “Is the dress you bought a decent one?”
Y: “It was bought at a mall. Of course, it is a decent dress.”
Y: “What is wrong? Let me see what part is not decent.”
Gu Qian: “…”
