After My Flash Marriage with the Sick Beauty, I Reached the Pinnacle of My Life - Chapter 18
“She… she won’t answer.”
Qi Xue looked fearfully at Fu Yunhan, her hand clutching the phone trembling.
After several consecutive calls, Xia Shishi didn’t pick up. Qi Xue didn’t know if she had been blocked or simply didn’t want to answer.
Fu Yunhan’s eyes were clouded with anger. He couldn’t help but grit his teeth and curse, “Is Xia Shishi f*****g crazy? She insists on marrying a woman. What good can that do her? All she does is cause me trouble!”
Zhou Xiaojiang was tactful and remained silent.
She was still trying to figure out what was behind Xia Shishi’s abnormal behavior.
Even if someone suddenly falls in love, it should happen after spending time together and getting to know the person. Xia Shishi and Wen Jiao had only met a few times, let alone become familiar, so how did she suddenly become so deeply fond of Wen Jiao?
She even showed off their affection to Zhou Xiaojiang, which the latter found completely baffling.
What worried Zhou Xiaojiang even more was the prospect of her relationship with Xia Shishi becoming distant, leading to a loss of many benefits.
While Fu Yunhan seemed more dependable than Xia Shishi on the surface, the things he could offer were significantly less than what Xia Shishi could.
Zhou Xiaojiang would much rather mend her relationship with Xia Shishi than try to appease this man.
Ideally, though, there would be a way to achieve both.
Qi Xue shot a resentful glance at Zhou Xiaojiang. It was she who had called her here, and now she was acting completely uninvolved?
But meeting Fu Yunhan’s gaze, Qi Xue still felt a little scared.
She didn’t know why, but she just felt this man was not to be trifled with.
He looked utterly useless except for his temper, yet Qi Xue felt an inexplicable dread deep down.
She began to regret it, but now, regret was useless.
Zhou Xiaojiang hired Qi Xue, and the three of them were now in it together. What could she do?
Fu Yunhan was exasperated. “There are only two days left, and the other side seems more willing to hand the contract over to the Wen family.” But that’s a profit of several hundred million yuan! Fu Yunhan didn’t want to miss it at all.
And if he missed this opportunity, what about the next?
The Xia family has only one cherished daughter.
Once Xia Shishi marries Wen Jiao, and the two families join forces, there will be no place for someone named Fu.
Originally, Fu Yunhan and Xia Shishi were childhood sweethearts. The Xia family would have been more likely to help him with this kind of thing…
Fu Yunhan suddenly realized something.
It seemed that after he started seeing Zhou Xiaojiang, Xia Shishi began to distance herself from him.
Fu Yunhan looked pointedly at Zhou Xiaojiang, and then suddenly smiled.
Perhaps she was just jealous.
“Give me the phone,” Fu Yunhan held out his hand to Zhou Xiaojiang.
Zhou Xiaojiang snapped out of her thoughts, looking at Fu Yunhan’s outstretched hand and the phone lying right on the table, less than a meter away from him.
Was this small distance too much for him to reach, requiring Zhou Xiaojiang to fetch it for him?
Zhou Xiaojiang frowned, picked up the phone from the table, and placed it in Fu Yunhan’s hand. “Are you going to call her yourself?”
Fu Yunhan emerged from his anger, a hint of smugness in his smile. “Shishi and I have known each other for so long. I know she’s just throwing a tantrum. A few sweet words will be enough.”
Zhou Xiaojiang’s face instantly darkened. “Then go ahead and sweet-talk her.”
Fu Yunhan called Xia Shishi, having already planned what to say once she answered.
He would ask Xia Shishi out, then say some nice things, like how she’s the most important person in his heart. He thought there was no way he couldn’t win her over.
Xia Shishi treated everyone the same, answering none of the calls.
Watching the triumphant smile on Fu Yunhan’s face turn back into fury, Zhou Xiaojiang looked on with detachment, while a hint of schadenfreude flashed in Qi Xue’s eyes.
Fu Yunhan, his face gloomy, called Xia Shishi again, but she still didn’t answer. He was so enraged that he threw his phone on the ground.
Zhou Xiaojiang checked her nails. “She’s probably with Wen Jiao right now. Yesterday, when we went shopping, she bought Wen Jiao quite a few gifts. They’re really in love.”
Fu Yunhan gnashed his teeth. “What do you mean by that?”
Zhou Xiaojiang looked confused. “What could I possibly mean?”
Fu Yunhan realized he had misspoken. He didn’t want to dismiss Zhou Xiaojiang yet, so he shut up.
This woman suited his taste; she was quiet and not meddlesome.
She could even occasionally be helpful.
A heavy atmosphere hung over the three of them. After a while, Fu Yunhan spoke to Qi Xue in a cold voice: “You absolutely must find a way to get Xia Shishi to come out.”
Qi Xue was unwilling but helpless, only managing a whisper of a defense, “She’s not even answering my calls now.”
Fu Yunhan sneered. “As for how you do it, that’s not my concern. I only know that if you can’t get Xia Shishi out, I’ll have someone bring out your younger brother, who is still in high school. Where he’ll be taken, I can’t guarantee.”
Qi Xue’s eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Fu Yunhan.
Fu Yunhan spoke these threatening words casually, and he didn’t seem to be joking.
Xia Shishi finished showing all the clothes and, with Uncle Zhang, tidied them up.
They put the ones Wen Jiao liked into her wardrobe, and the ones Xia Shishi liked into another, to be sorted out after she moved in. The rest would be given away if possible, or donated.
After finishing the task, Xia Shishi couldn’t stay idle. “Wifey, how about we go shopping?”
Wen Jiao’s eyes fell on Xia Shishi’s feet.
Didn’t she spend the entire afternoon shopping yesterday? Wasn’t she tired?
Xia Shishi blinked, noticed Wen Jiao looking at her feet, and even lifted her skirt to make it easier for her to see. “How is it? Are they slender?”
Wen Jiao: …They’re quite fair.
Although fair, they looked very healthy, with smooth, attractive lines on her calves.
Wen Jiao casually withdrew her gaze. “Do you still need to buy anything?”
Xia Shishi lowered her skirt. “I’ve given you gifts, aren’t you going to give me one?”
Wen Jiao: “…”
Xia Shishi pouted. “Gifts should be reciprocal, you give me one, and I give you one. That’s how it should be. Now it’s your turn to give me one. This time we’ll go together to buy it, giving you a chance to give it to me in person.”
Instead of having someone buy it and send it to her, which robbed her of the joy of receiving a gift.
Wen Jiao heard the complaining tone in Xia Shishi’s voice.
She thought for a moment, then asked Uncle Zhang to call her assistant.
After finishing the call and briefing on the day’s work, Wen Jiao placed her hands on her lap. “Let’s go.”
Xia Shishi happily walked over to push the wheelchair. “Did you bring the card?”
Xia Shishi: “It’s best if it’s one with a high limit, okay? I saw so many things yesterday that I wanted to buy, but I ran out of money.”
Xia Shishi sighed. “It’s my fault for not being able to stop picking out gifts for you at the beginning and spending all my allowance. But it’s alright. Once I start interning at the company, I’ll have a salary, and I’ll use my salary to support you in the future!”
The girl was quite talkative.
That was good.
It saved Wen Jiao from worrying that too much quietness might make the girl miserable.
Xia Shishi was the kind of person who could liven up a party. Once she started talking, she seemed to have endless things to say.
From sharing her own big and small matters to occasionally asking questions.
For example:
“Wifey, what kind of pajamas do you like?”
“What color do you like? Red, white? I like your color, though.”
“Can we choose the lipstick color that I like, okay? Don’t ask why, it’s because I like kissing you…”
Wen Jiao held the armrest, her eyes deep. “Who else have you said that last sentence to?”
Xia Shishi looked innocent. “I haven’t said it to anyone else! Do you think I look very experienced? That’s because the moment I see you, my mind is full of flirtatious thoughts.”
Sometimes, being too noisy wasn’t a good thing.
Wen Jiao felt like this was the first time she had heard so much idle talk in one day, but every time she saw Xia Shishi speaking animatedly, her own emotions seemed to be infected, and a smile would unconsciously appear at the corner of her mouth.
Although Xia Shishi’s change towards her was huge—so huge that Wen Jiao’s heart was constantly filled with unease—
At least this moment was real.
Xia Shishi pushed Wen Jiao into the car and took the opportunity to touch her, but her hand was firmly grasped by Wen Jiao.
Having failed to steal a touch, Xia Shishi was righteous. “You don’t seem to have brought the card, so what should we do? Should I push you back to get it?”
Uncle Zhang, who was following behind, couldn’t help but ask, “Miss Xia, is this perhaps your real intention today?”
An attempt to spend all of Wen Jiao’s money.
And thus achieve revenge.
If so, Xia Shishi might be disappointed; she might not be able to spend all of Wen Jiao’s money even if she emptied the entire shopping mall.
Xia Shishi was heartbroken. “Uncle Zhang, how could you think that of me? I can tell the difference between temporary happiness and lasting happiness.”
Wen Jiao pressed her forehead and tried to endure. “Aren’t you getting in?”
Xia Shishi: “But the card.”
Wen Jiao: “I brought it.”
Xia Shishi: “I don’t believe you. I didn’t feel it just now. How about I check again?”
Wen Jiao looked up, her clear eyes meeting Xia Shishi’s. Seeing her restless hand approach again, her brows furrowed slightly.
Xia Shishi let out a soft laugh and sat down in the car obediently, without moving around anymore.
The white sedan drove on.
Wen Jiao asked her, “What do you want?”
“I want you to touch me,” Xia Shishi answered very honestly. She just felt that the distance between them wasn’t intimate enough yet. Although they liked each other and had exchanged their feelings, it seemed like both sides still had some reservations.
Xia Shishi wanted to be closer, to be certain that they wouldn’t separate in the future.
